What if they did find out? What then?
When the Elezen's gaze finally returned forward, there were traces of a thoughtful frown tugging at the corners of pursed lips. "...What, indeed?" He murmured. Then he gave a low chuckle. "Then again, what is there to find out?"

life and consequences
FFXIV speculation ahoy! Spoilers for everything up to and including 5.3 below.
I was watching a streamer this morning, and he was talking about an interview Natsuko Ishikawa gave at one point talking about how when she’s writing characters who somehow cheat death, there’s always a price to that cheat - i.e., Y’shtola losing her sight from her escape to the life stream. The context was speculation about whether there will be any lasting consequences from G’raha in effect cheating death by inserting his Exarch memories into his younger body, thus both dying and living at the same time. Of course, the edgelords in chat immediately jumped to “well he or someone else is going to die now!” But honestly, a life for a life is pretty much the most boring possible consequence, and if the FFXIV writing team has proven anything, it’s that they rarely take the boring option.
Thinking about it, though, my personal guess right now is that the story consequence is going to involve the Crystal Tower - yes, G’raha and Krile sealed it up at the end of 5.3, but the whole point of the CT raid story was that Allagan royal blood was needed to truly contain the power in the Tower. Now that it doesn’t have an actual living body that contains Allagan blood living/sleeping inside, I imagine it could be vulnerable to invasion given the right circumstances.
... and somehow, I think the facts that Emet-Selch helped found the Allagan empire, and that Zenos is Emet-Selch’s great-grandson are going to combine to play into something in the future story. This is as likely a place as any, tbh.
I could be totally off base, but hey, it’s a more interesting theory than “well someone’s gonna die because G’raha is here.”
... alternately, G’raha is going to find out that calling the Scions away from the Source at such a delicate period allowed Fandaniel and Zenos to fuck shit up and gain back power without any real resistance and thus his efforts to save the First and prevent another Calamity have inadvertently caused another potential apocalyptic event that could be even worse. So there’s that, too.
Is it 6.0 time yet? Because I wanna know what happens.
