secret life is my favourite life series. 100%

#secret life #i just finished up to episode 5 #look i've enjoyed every life series. but if i had to rank them #1. secret life #2. last life #3. third life #4. double life #5. limited life #(honestly double life and 3rd life is a tossup too) #but limited was definitely my least favourite unfortunately and i can say that for sure since i watched it semi recently #and caveat all of this is from a bdubs watcher #i watch scar too and for a time i watched etho and mumbo but it got a bit much #no but the tasks on secret life are some of the most interesting things to me AUGH and some tasks have created such good moments #and the way they combine sometimes? chefs kiss #secret life is the one series that makes me want to watch every pov just for context #each of these series just makes me think of more people i love to see bdubs in groups with #limited life has bdubs and mumbo which is rare and i really love #and bdubs and pearl of course #(and bdubs and etho again cause he can't stay away) #but i loved him with cleo on 3rd and limited #and impulse on 3rd and double #and scarr i love bdubs and scar together #and team best changed my life part of why i'm so excited for skizz hermitcraft is i love his and bdubs' dynamic sm #(honestly skizz has great dynamic with everybody)

I think a main reason that the homewreckers/clock duo/impdubs/whatever thing is so funny to me is that both of these middle aged dads just decided to rp a pair of smitten gay newlyweds and just went all in. Fully committed to the bit. They just did that. Took 5 minutes of debating with myself back and forth on whether I wanted black eyes, red eyes, purple eyes or whatever goddamn eyes their skins have

Ended up with dark red eyes. Which is not even a colour I was thinking of as shown above

Also this isn't even that related to the design or anything but I like to think the winners only remember as far as the game they won. If the traffic life games were all about survival, Jimmy would be the grand loser. There was no argument about that.

But as anyone who made it to the end, outlived them all, would say, that didn't feel like winning.

To be the one who had to live.

Grian killed himself.

Scott lived, and then died, out of spite.

Pearl, in life or death, was alone.

Martyn rotted with answers he didn't want.

And that's because the games are not about survival. They're about living.

They're life games.

Some call them death games, but in the end.

It was about living, despite what might come for you.

And Jimmy, Jimmy is good at that.

He made a life with Scott. He died, yes, but he died living. He died happy.

He almost lived in season two. But he burned his bridges and died with betrayal. He was alone, but not lost.

He rebuilt with Tango, his server mates may have made fun of him, but he had one person. And that was all that mattered.

He lived on the edge with Grian and Joel. They pushed him, and he pushed back. They were a community.

He was not the only one who tried to live, but he has a lightness that comes with never taking anyone's final life. He never stopped others from living, that guilt never rested on his shoulders.

Sometimes a curse isn't just a curse.

Thinking about how Third Life was about suspense. Something is coming, we don’t know what or when, but it is on the horizon. You build a kingdom on shifting sand, knowing the ground is unstable but praying it will stay. It never does. The world was always going to crumble, we knew that from the start. The end was written before the beginning, we’re just here to watch how it happens.

Last Life was about dread. After seeing everything you built destroyed — with the image of your home on fire fresh in your mind — the world is darker from the start. You make bonds knowing they will break. You build kingdoms knowing they will fall. You create knowing destruction awaits. There is no peace, only the ever-building burden of the knowledge that this time won’t end any differently.

Double life was about fate. The illusion of choice is gone: you are bound to another human being, you have no control whether you live or die. You can try to protect them in order to protect yourself, or you can push them away - after all, what real duty do you have to each other anyway? Still you know that when it ends, it ends together. You cannot escape them, but somehow you still end up dying alone.

Limited Life is about inevitability. No matter what happens, no matter what you do right or wrong, you have an expiration date. No one is making it out alive. We’re here, watching the timer tick down, knowing this only ends one way. We’ve done this song and dance before, it’s only a question of what happens before the timer hits zero.

I hear a lot of people in the Life Series fandom rank Double Life as the worst season, not because it was bad but because not a lot of significance happened in it.

I understand this point, however it should be noted:

Everything going on between Joel and Etho in Hermitcraft s10 rn would not have happened if it wasn’t for Double Life.

There’s definitely more than this, but I think this is a really relevant thing to remember. These two would have likely never had anything to do with one another if it wasn’t for being randomly paired up in Double Life.

I just think it’s important to remember how each season had its own significant impact to the creators and the outside smps, and that’s something really neat 😊.
