Dawson was not-so-secretly hoping that a certain someone would drop by again the evening after his fishing trip... 👀
But he accidentally ended up passing the time very productively instead.

"Alright, nobody panic—"
"Dawson!"
"I hate to interrupt but, we've got company."
"What?!"
"There was a townie and it fuckin' saw me, but this... little kid came out of nowhere and... Jesus. They both ran off but, I don't know. We gotta go."

Something tells me these two aren't quite on the same level of panic over this whole thing as Dawson.
Well, maybe a different kind of panic. 😅

Plans to make it an early night were derailed when Dawson's 'friend' decided to show up...
[whistling]
"Heyyyyy, Blondie! You up?"
"Biiiiiiig Red."

The lack of (non-dumpster) woohoo locations in New Promise has once again reared its ugly head...
But don't worry, guys. Dawson is nothing if not resourceful. They just pitched a tent real quick. 😉

"Want me to bait your hook for you, babe?"
"Cher, I can put a worm on a freaking hook."
"Oh, we're using stink bait."
"Stink what?"
"My own secret recipe. Catfish love it."
"Bleeeeegh! Gross. Okay. Yeah, you better do it."

I made a lot of progress with Dawson's fishing aspiration early on and don't want to abandon it entirely (or rob him of this hobby) but with 2 unused CAS points in the bank from completing Octavia's aspiration I'm not exactly in a huge hurry over it either...?
Fresh fish is always a big win, though. Especially if Dawson can get someone else to cook it.
if anyone knows of a mod that i could use to transfer ownership (for lack of a better word — so it's not just dragged out somewhere on their lot) of fresh fish to another household without sitting and gifting them one by one lmk

Herbalism is slow, grindy work.
Seriously so slow I think I might die.
Dawson's outdoorsy lifestyle was calling for a break and who am I to deny a man a fishing trip?

"Oh my god! Babe, are you sure?"
"It's cool. We're cool."
"We can take a rain check if you want; I mean, it is literally raining—"
"I'm good. Now's good."
"We're good, man. 'Sko."
"Alrighty!"

"Shit. Cherry, look. There's a rainbow!"
"Shit, there is!"
[a moment of quiet wonder... and also fishing]
"Did you guys ever hear the story of the first rainbow?"
"Uhhh, like... Noah's ark?"
[scoff] "Fuck no! This one's way better than that..."
...but Dawson is too caught up in his own thoughts—errr, I mean, fishing!—to listen. Definitely just really zoned in on fishing. 👀
Dawson seems to me to have two modes: confident and carefree or quiet and stoic, seemingly focused on the task at hand but awash in feelings he can't quite articulate or process:
Loss. Isolation. Shame?
...Unfortunately it appear that fishing brings out the latter in him.
if only they could just talk while fishing

It's all fun and games until you're back home alone and all caught up on your to do list...
But tomorrow, we fish!

Spending time together indoors isn't so bad. There's still all the privacy and darkness you might expect from the dumpster, plus a little more space to move around, plus music:
Jock Rock 2000, just to set the mood. 😌

Before heading back, Cherry and Alicia wanted to "explore the house" that Dawson and Cherry got chased out of by a close encounter with a lone townie and definitely not just make out for a bit or whatever.
Understandably, Dawson was happy to just hang back and keep watch outside.
"Just be smart... and bring me my Chucks if they're still in there!"
