Some fun facts: - This list is not quite in order of when the first usages of these names appeared, but it's pretty close. - Assuming I caught everything and did the math correctly, Trent's daughter has been mentioned by name in 192 fics! For reference, Trent has been tagged as a character in 395 and does not actually appear in some of those, so she's really named in over 49% of the fics he's in. - Of the approximately 77(!) names used, ~33 have been used in multiple fics (including several series), and ~21 of those have been used by multiple different authors. - Seraphina and Georgie are tied for most usages (18 each) but when it comes to usages by the most authors, Seraphina (probably unsurprisingly, given how many people have been inspired by a kind of dwell and welcome) wins in a landslide with 15.
EDIT March 14 2023 I don't feel like updating the math but here are the new names that have been used since I originally posted this:
Ivy
Rosa
Clara
Eliora Eli Asher (nonbinary in this one)
Persephone
Agatha
Sadia
Lottie [could be a nickname for Charlotte (already on the list) but not necessarily and not clarified as such]
Mira
Karime
Lydia
Billie Rose
One more day to season 3, can't wait to see if we get a confirmed name! Either way, it's been fun <3
EDIT April/May 2023 to add:
Isadora
Molly
Darla
Patricia/Trish
Amaya
Ella
Meg/Margaret
Charlie [again I'm assuming this is a nickname for Charlotte but that's not stated]
Eliza [Could be standalone name or could be nickname for Elizabeth]
Carmilla/Millie
Annie [Could be a nickname for a number of other names. EDIT: One of the two fics using this name just revealed it's a nickname for Cordelia Annabel. Not sure how to count this tbh.]
Frances
Emi
Kara
Ingrid
Astrid
Beth [again this is probably a nickname for Elizabeth]
Claire
Maya
Cindy
Harriet
EDIT after the finale aired (this info also added to a reblog):
Well, it seems we're not getting a canon name! I guess she's our daughter now. I haven't decided whether I'm going to maintain this list going forward (though for my own sanity I'm leaning towards no) but at least it's fully up to date as of 7:30 pm est today (May 31, 2023).
Some "final" statistics: The numbers aren’t perfect, because there were a few names I grouped together and probably should have counted separately, and a few names I counted separately and probably should have grouped together, and those may or may not have balanced out, but keeping that in mind, about 110 names were used! About 49 were used in multiple fics (including individual installments in several series) and about 35 of those were used by multiple authors. Trent’s daughter has been mentioned by name in about 298 fics by 149 authors. This includes works in which she’s mentioned but doesn’t show up as a character, but doesn’t account for works in which her existence is mentioned but not by name. Fun fact, about 21 new names were used just while season three was airing!

Westworld at 50: Michael Crichton’s AI dystopia was ahead of its time
by Keith McDonald, Senior Lecturer Film Studies and Media at York St John University
Tumblr media
Westworld turned 50 on November 21. Director Michael Crichton’s cautionary tale showed that high-concept feature films could act as a vehicle for social commentary. Westworld blended cinematic genres, taking into account the audience’s existing knowledge of well-worn narrative conventions and playfully subverting them as the fantasy turns to nightmare.
The film centres on a theme park where visitors, in this case the protagonists Peter (Richard Benjamin) and John (James Brolin), can enter a simulated fantasy world – Pompeii, Medieval Europe, or the Old West. Once there, they can live out their wildest fantasies. They can even have sex with the synthetic playthings that populate the worlds.
This sinister idea went on to be explored further in later films such as The Stepford Wives (1975 & 2004), A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) and Ex Machina (2014).
youtube
Of course, it all goes terribly wrong when a computer virus overruns the park and the androids become unbound from the safety protocols that have been encoded into them. The resultant horror climaxes with Peter being stalked through the park by the menacing gunslinger (Yul Brynner).
The film isn’t perfect. Westworld was Michael Crichton’s feature directorial debut, and it shows – as does the tight shooting schedule and frugal budget imposed by MGM. The studio was notorious at the time for mishandling projects and their directors.
Compared to some of the other notable films released that year, such as William Friedkin’s masterful The Exorcist, Nicolas Roeg’s terrifying Don’t Look Now and Clint Eastwood’s assured High Plains Drifter, Westworld has a B-movie aesthetic.
This is, though, elevated by a towering performance from Brynner, and the high-concept approach that later came to dominate the Hollywood system. The film also provided fruitful inspiration for an ambitious HBO adaptation in 2016.
Genre blending and bending
Westworld successfully blended science fiction with other genres. In this sense, it was a pioneering film, which made the most of its limitations due to the hugely influential imagination of Crichton and a postmodern masterstroke of the casting and performance of Brynner.
Today’s cinema is saturated with meta-textual references – moments when a film makes a critical commentary on itself or another movie. This was typified by Michael Keaton’s recent reprisal of his role as Batman in The Flash. But when Westworld was released, such creative choices were novel and fresh.
Tumblr media
Bynner’s android gunslinger wears a costume almost identical to the one he donned for his role in The Magnificent Seven (1961). The choice adds dramatically to the thematic concerns of the film – the saturation of consumer culture and the postmodern bent towards repetition, simulation and cliche.
The simulated scenes in the theme park itself are built around cliched movie moments. The three settings which high-paying customers can enter represent film genres: The Medieval simulation, the “swords and sandals” recreation of the Roman Empire and the titular western.
When Westworld was released, each of these genres (the Medieval history, the Roman epic and the western) were already past their heyday, both in terms of popularity and reliability at the box office. Using them furthered the film’s comment on contemporary Hollywood – that it had run out of original ideas and was simply cashing in on nostalgia.
youtube
Westworld and AI
Though other films, like Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), were exploring the concept of nascent AI around this time, Westworld arguably did so in the most accessible style. And its legacy in doing so is clear in subsequent films, such as The Terminator (1984), The Matrix (1999) and recently in M3GAN (2023).
Crichton later revisited the notion of a theme park turning perilous due to the Promethean human instinct in his novel, Jurassic Park in 1990. Steven Spielberg’s adaptation remains one of the high points in American action-adventure cinema.
The fascinating scenarios Michael Crichton explored in his work successfully embodied the societal anxieties and technophobia of the 1970s. And in Westworld, he demonstrated a flair for capturing such fears in visual set pieces. This is no more evident than in the iconic, uncanny image of Yul Brynner’s deadly, sentient killer cowboy. Fifty years on, it remains one of the most memorable images in science fiction cinematic history.

Roku released its list of the top-searched movies, TV series, actors and actresses in 2023 on its devices — compiled from more than 1.2 billion total searches in the U.S.
Boinging into the top spot: “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” which beat out every other movie and TV series as the No. 1 most-searched title on Roku in America for the year. (See full top 10 lists below.) The Universal movie, featuring Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, banked $1.36 billion worldwide at the box office to become the second-biggest animated movie of all time (after “Frozen II”).
Following “Super Mario Bros.” on Roku’s list of top-searched movies in 2023 were “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” “Avatar: The Way of Water,” “M3GAN” and “The Little Mermaid.” Note that two of the biggest theatrical releases of the year — “Barbie” ($1.44 billion in worldwide box office) and “Oppenheimer” ($952 million) — are not on Roku’s top 10 movie searches. Both came to digital relatively recently: “Barbie” began streaming on Max on Dec. 15 (after releasing on digital rental/purchase platforms Sept. 12) and “Oppenheimer” hit digital on Nov. 21.
The reigning champs of TV searches on Roku devices in the U.S. were “Yellowstone” (No. 1) and “SpongeBob SquarePants” (No. 2), followed by “PAW Patrol,” “South Park” and “Bluey.”
Melissa McCarthy was Roku’s most-searched actress of 2023 in the U.S., with searches for her spiking at the end of November with the Nov. 22 release of her holiday-themed Peacock original movie “Genie.” The top-searched actor of the year was Adam Sandler, star of Netflix’s “Murder Mystery 2”; Roku said searches for Sandler spiked in early April following the movie’s March 31 premiere date.
Unexpectedly, the No. 2 most-search-for actor on Roku devices this year was John Wayne, while on the actress list Doris Day landed in the No. 6 spot. Another anachronism: “Gunsmoke,” which aired on TV from 1955-1975, was the eighth most-searched series.

Baa Baas Wales Face to Barbarians in Cardiff on 4th November 2023 – kick-off 2.30pm.
The legitimacy of this weekend’s uncapped Wales vs Barbarians match has been discussed a lot. However, it will offer an opportunity to bid farewell to three legendary Wales rugby players at Principality Stadium. Baa Baas Wales Face to Barbarians in Cardiff on 4th November 2023 – kick-off 2.30pm.
On match day 23, there will be no fewer than six Fijians, so Welsh supporters may anticipate fireworks a day early. A lot of players from Fiji and Australia will also be desperate to get revenge on Jac Morgan’s team following their losses to Wales in the most recent World Cup in France.
How to watch Wales vs. Barbarians online for free
Wales v Barbarians will be shown live on S4C, and coverage starts at 2pm. What TV channel is Wales v Barbarians? What about live streaming?
Wales vs Baa Baas Rugby may be seen live on a smartphone, tablet, or desktop computer via BBC iPlayer. For this, a TV licence and a BBC account are required. The S4C Clic app allows for live streaming as well.
In their inaugural Pool C match in Bordeaux, the Fijian team was led by full back Ilaisa Droasese, hooker Tevita Ikanivere, wing Selestino Ravutaumada, and prop Peni Ravai. However, they were defeated by Wales. Api Ratuniyarawa, a lock for Bayonne who competed against Wales in the 2019 World Cup, is the last Fijian.
When the star-studded Barbarians play Wales at Principality Stadium on Saturday, November 4, several known faces will be on the team.
Barbarians v Wales Squad
15 Ilasia Droasese (Fiji) 14. Shaun Stevenson (New Zealand) 13. Len Ikitau (Australia) 12. Izaia Perese (Australia) 11. Selestino Ravutaumada (Fiji) 10. Nicolas Sanchez (Argentina) 9. Celebrating the legends
The game will also be a chance to celebrate the careers of Leigh Halfpenny, Alun Wyn Jones and Justin Tipuric.
After announcing they were quitting international rugby in May which ruled them out of the World Cup, Jones and Tipuric will line up for the Barbarians, while Halfpenny will play one last time for Wales after being part of Gatland’s squad in France.
“It is something we have spoken about this week, there is going to be some recognition of those players,” said Gatland.
“When I had that conversation with Justin and he retired from international rugby, we spoke about this game being an opportunity for him to be involved.
“He gets the chance with the Barbarians to recognise his contribution, and Alun Wyn and Leigh.
“They get that chance to call time on their career, that is their choice and I fully respect that and back them. That is their choice, other people have coaches make that decision.
“Hopefully it is a good occasion for those three players.”

Suriname klaar voor deelname Pan-Amkerikaanse Spelen
Tumblr media
Hoost is namelijk langer in training. Desney Romeo Read the full article

Suriname klaar voor deelname Pan-Amkerikaanse Spelen
Tumblr media
