How I feel about this character

Omg okay, I like Leona a lot. I think that he's a character out of Yana's usual comfort zone which I find extremely interesting, if that makes sense? I don't think she's written anyone quite like him before, and as an avid fan of her work since Rust Blaster, that's very intriguing for me and was the first draw to this character. I can see parallels between personality for so many other characters to those from other works of hers ( cain and lilia, kei and silver, ciel/o!ciel and riddle, sebastian and jade/malleus, druitt and rook, kalim and soma, sebek and edward, etc. ) But Leona is pretty new characterization imo, especially given the pretty clear information we're given that he struggles with depression. It isn't easy to write characters with mental illness, but so many of the TWST characters have some type of it and they're all very well written. Leona's way of coping is what's perceived as his ' laziness ' or the constant napping. I think that's fabulous. He doesn't explain himself regarding it and he doesn't want to; he's a very private person when it comes to personal matters and he hides that behind an uncaring and sometimes borderline cruel facade in order to make sure people give him a wide berth so that he can deal with his own stuff and be alone with himself while simultaneously not letting it affect others. He does this a lot, with the Spelldrive tournament and his OB being the exception since that clearly meant a lot to him, and probably brought out/triggered a very old inferiority complex surrounding his relationship with his brother ( deemed the successful golden child ) whom I'm sure he saw parallels with in Malleus and his success.

Beyond the portrayal of his complicated mental health and complexities surrounding his family, however, I also love his not-so-secret soft side that comes out in small ways, mostly around his underclassmen. From letting Riddle sleep on his lap for three hours after they were kidnapped, to allowing Epel to follow him around all day to ' observe his manliness ', and even protecting Jack from upperclassmen who were bullying him, Leona is quite good to those who are younger, and often times in a sense weaker than he is, which fills my heart because it just goes to show that he has some innate instinct towards caring for others, something which he probably used to have towards the people of his Kingdom as well, but something that he's struggled to uphold as he's become more and more jaded whilst growing up and seeing how little he himself mattered in comparison to his brother, in the eyes of both the royal family and, very likely, his people, since he's merely the ' spare ' rather than the ' heir '.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Ruggieeeeee. My OTP is 100% Leoruggie. They make me so incredibly happy. I picture Ruggie as the type of person who simply doesn't bond with over people beyond surface level as a defense mechanism. He grew up extremely poor, literally having to eat out of garbage cans while he took care of his elderly grandmother and lives under the oppression of lions. But I fully think that the reason he first started sticking to Leona wasn't actually money or favors or anything of the sort, but because he saw something in Leona that he hadn't seen before. I think Leona is probably the first person of high status that Ruggie has ever met, the first royal, and the first lion to treat him like anything more than trash on the side of the road. After meeting Leona, they spoke normally, joked like equals, and all of that probably made Ruggie feel like he'd found a kindred spirit...as did Leona's frustration that - despite having all the skills to do so - he couldn't seem to climb higher than the station he was given at birth.

Still, I think Ruggie decided to start following Leona because he became a beacon of light for him, and of hope that if they were somehow able to get him on the throne one day, things might change for Ruggie's people. Or even if he didn't get to the throne, as a royal, Leona could still do something to participate in moving their society forward and uplifting the less fortunate. But I think he wants to help hoist Leona up in the world however he can regardless, because Leona is so different from everyone else he'd ever met, and because he sees the world from a different point of view. Different ideals, and all of that. And besides that, I think he probably felt like he’d found belonging with him.

But as for the ship part, man, Ruggie has to love him in some sort of way, because how could anyone let themselves be nearly murdered by someone and still want to be by their side afterwards if there wasn’t love there? Leona seems to be the only person Ruggie truly trusts, and honestly I think that goes both ways. The two of them clearly have the type of bond other people probably can't understand, the type that allows them to stay together normally even after a murder attempt. I have a lot of feelings about them - I just love seeing them together. They've both suffered and been lonely their whole lives in their own ways, but finding each other has changed things. I adore them.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

This is weird but probably Cheka? I just love any chance to see their interactions. He loves his uncle so much, and despite the fact that Leona clearly has plenty of unresolved issues surrounding his brother that he needs to work through and that he projects onto his nephew, he's also not necessarily cruel to him. I think Leona is probably very special to a child like him because he's being raised with all of the weight of the world on his shoulders as the next in line for the throne, and is going through what I'm sure is a very rigorous education for it. I can't imagine he gets much time to be a normal child, and I can't imagine there's anyone in his day-to-day life that treats him like one, which is why Leona is such a significant figure for him. Leona just treats him like his pesky nephew, which for a developing brain desperately seeking a bit of normalcy, is a big deal. I also think that regardless of whether or not he realizes it himself, Leona also benefits in a big way from having the unconditional love of a family member in the way that Cheka gives it to him.

My unpopular opinion about this character

See above, where I discussed that he's not just lazy or mean like some enjoy writing him off as.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I want to see more of his relationship with his family, specifically his brother. I'd love for the two of them to reach a breaking point in Leona's resentment towards him and finally have an actual discussion. Maybe he doesn't even realize that Leona is feeling the way he is. Idk.

I'd also like to have a bit more information on how Leona and Ruggie fully made up after his OB, or if they even really talked about it beyond what we got. They're both the type to bottle up their feelings and pretend something didn't happen, so who knows - but Leona almost killed him. That seems like a pretty big deal, and something you need to discuss in order to move past.

How I feel about this character

Love him to bits. I've written him myself before, but my muse for him tends to fluctuate heavily. I relate to him in a lot of ways ( the blatantly obvious depression, the overcompensating, the ' persona ' he puts on for others ), so he's comforting for me. Of course his text speech ( actually saying ' lol ' out loud my god ) is hilarious and so is the aforementioned persona, but I really appreciate the side of his character that he hides underneath and all of the little hints that he gives us every so often that he's not doing as well as he seems. To me, it feels like he thinks he won't have anything to offer anyone if he isn't always easygoing and fun caykun, a reliable and friendly upperclassman, an entertaining and easygoing friend, and prepared to offer up a quip or a joke ( even self-deprecating ) at all times for the sake of a laugh. I don't know - he gives me a lot of feelings. I wish things were easier for him. I'm sad that he struggles to find his identity and be satisfied with it. But I do love the parallels between that particular trait of his and his unique magic. Wonderful character trivia.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

ririkei / lilicay: I love the idea of immortals falling in love with humans, I always have. And there's something about the idea of Cater and Lilia falling for each other with Cater not even knowing Lilia's real identity as a high ranking general for the Valley, OR that he's Silver's father, OR how old he is. Lilia struggling with that and having to figure out when and how to tell him because he doesn't want to lose him...that kind of thing is SO good. But all of that aside I also really enjoy their canon interactions, and I love how they're in the same club and seem to really like spending time together. Idk there's just something I really like about these two for some reason.

idekei / idicay: popular boy and borderline hikikomori. Must I say more? It's a good ship. I saw some fan art awhile back about Idia messaging his discord kitten in front of Cater and then Cater's phone chiming, which KILLED me. They have awesome potential as being the funniest ship ever, but I also think Cater could really be himself around someone like Idia and not feel pressured or judged by it which would be a pretty big deal. I'd love to see it.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Riddle and Cater. I love the way Cater jumps to Riddle's side, ready to help him whenever he needs it, and even when he doesn't ask for it. Even when he was at his worst point and embodying his most tyrannical self pre-overblot, Cater stuck with him, which I think is really lovely, especially because imo Riddle has a hard time feeling like he can give a title to his relationships with others, or figure out the depths of them, but like Trey, Cater has created an inability for their relationship to be anything other than true ' friends ' with his loyalty and his genuine concern. Even when the rest of the dorm turned on him, Cater was trying to defend him, which says a lot. Trey did it because they have a long and complicated history, but he and Riddle presumably only met the year before when Riddle entered NRC. Riddle is unpopular, and clearly disliked in their dorm, but even though it went completely against Cater's character and his never-ending chase of popularity and being as well-liked as possible, he stuck with Riddle. So, I thought that was great. I also love how he kind of has an unofficial position as Riddle's third-in-command. He and Trey always seem to be following after Riddle together, rather than just Trey himself ( the vice housewarden ). As for Riddle's contributions - the fact that he took the time to learn Magicam ( no easy feat for him ) and use it to create a way to help Cater study says it all for me. He doesn't put in that type of work for everyone, and he definitely doesn't change his way of tutoring to suit the individual. I think they both care about each other very much, and I think that's wonderful.

I also love Kalim and Cater, Trey and Cater, and Che'nya and Cater. The first two bc they're obviously ppl he considers close friends, and the last one bc that's my ideal chaotic duo haha.

I guess that I don't think he's as 2-D as some ppl make him out to be? Idk.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I have a few things, actually. I talked a lot about his relationship with Riddle up above, but I'd like to know how that kind of loyalty became established in the first place, and why Cater would go against his natural behavior and interests to stand by Riddle ( even when it affects his own image ).

Maybe this is corny, but I'd also like to see some of the other characters start to notice that there's something wrong with him/he's struggling in ways they didn't realize before. I want him to get the recognition and help he deserves!

I'd also love to learn more about his mental state and the progression from wanting as many friends as possible while being lonely moving around so often as a child to creating this carefully crafted and researched persona of his and this desperation for popularity. I want to know how exactly it happened and what was the catalyst for him essentially losing his real identity.

"Don't suck in." Vil scolds as he's adjusting the lacing, loosening and tightening from the top, going down. "Hold it in place for me." This is the third time he's adjusted the corset; determined to get it just right. Hearing Riddle gasp the first time was enough for him to be extra mindful. Certainly, this isn't Riddle's first time and yet... "Don't let go until I tell you."

Tugging the corset lower just a touch, he checks the top of the corset once more to make sure his hand can fit inside to ensure there's enough space. "Now..." He begins pulling the lace, waiting to see if Riddle shows any signs of discomfort. When he doesn't, he pulls a little tighter and holds it in place to look over for any awkward spots. "You may let go. How does it feel? Any poking or needing fixing?'

“Y-Yes….” 

Releasing his breath in a whoosh of air, Riddle did his best to untense, though it was quite difficult. This was hardly his first time in a corset, though it was certainly his first time wearing one properly. His prior efforts had been rather unhealthy to say the least, far too tight and after he’d sucked in his breath…just as he was being scolded for now. It brought an ashamed flush to his cheeks…he knew there was no possible way one could simply know everything, but he disliked looking foolish in front of Vil-senpai. He wanted to garner his approval, to impress him, even, but it was hard. Vil-senpai was worldly in a way Riddle was most certainly not, and thus, he was almost always the teacher, and Riddle the student.

Speaking of, he let go as he was instructed, pondering the question he was asked for but a moment before dragging his fingertips carefully along the bones of the the accessory covering the length of his already rather slim waist. This was a good experiment, however - he already held rather good posture as a rule, but if this helped with it even more, he was more than willing to try it Vil-senpai’s way…though it was curious, to imagine one might not want it as tight as he’d done himself previously. 

“It feels fine. Thank you for your assistance.”

Turning, he looked himself over in Vil’s mirror. It wasn’t a bad look, though it was a bit embarrassing to be so underdressed. He wasn’t used to showing so much skin: one would be hard-pressed to find him ever even wearing short-sleeves. 

“You’re always giving me guidance, allowing me into your private spaces, hosting me for whatever trivial matter I seek you out for. And you're always kind to me regardless."

A small smile, something a bit self-deprecating. He questioned things a lot these days, much more than he had before his Overblot. Wondered whether it wasn't just his dorm mates putting up with him out of obligation; wondered if others had hidden resentments as well.

How I feel about this character

A lot of people don't know this about me, but I actually really like Sebek! At first I was a little bit uninterested, but the more I got to know him and his character, the more endearing and adorable he became to me. Riddle's fondness for him rubbed off on me! Haha just kidding, but really, watching him struggle to grow and adapt to life outside of the Valley has been like watching a train wreck in slow motion in the best of ways. He's so loud and ridiculous but as the story's progressed, I think he's calmed down a considerable amount. Watching him bond so much with humans who he previously thought of as so inferior to himself has also been a huge highlight to me, and it warms my heart to see his perspective changing. I also love me some good gap-moe, so I adore the juxtaposition between his big buff appearance and some of his more innocent character traits, like the way he gets overexcited or overly serious about things, or the hero worship he has for Malleus. He's my favorite himbo and I just want to kiss his little face!

sebeshiru / sebesil: I have to be honest, it was fan art that got me into this. But now that I am into it, there's no going back. I absolutely adore the idea of Sebek continuing to borderline bully Silver over his status as a human, and just be a jerk in general until one day he realizes ' wow, his eyelashes are really long... ' and then ' his hair is so soft and shiny ' and before he even realizes it, he's completely fallen for Disney princess Silver. I love the idea of him taking forever to come to terms with that fact, but once he does, steeling himself and very seriously declaring his intentions regarding courting to Silver. I love the idea of them having a romantic moment on one of the Diasomnia balconies where Sebek decides to take a knee and tell him that while he he will primarily be Malleus's knight, he wants to pledge on his sword to always protect Silver as well. I love him going to Lilia and getting his blessing. Another thing I love is the idea of him and Silver being very culturally traditional. Sebek wore a hakama/montsuki hakama for New Year's and both he and Silver wore a qingdai guanmao with a mamianqun ( which was traditionally worn by women lol ), and what appears to be a yunjian ( don't quote me on this because I'm not an expert on chinese history but it is an interest ) and basically just a bunch of different fashion influences of the Qing Dynasty thrown together for halloween, so I definitely feel like the Diasomnia characters are presented with hints of an east asian heritage, maybe a mixture of Japanese and Chinese culture to create something TWST equivalent of the two cultures like Yana seems to have done for places such as the Middle East and Africa. But anyway. I'm getting sidetracked here. My point is I love the idea of the two of them involving traditional East Asian courtship methods in their relationship. Like Chinese courtship, for example, where they would be receiving the guidance of an astrologer, exchanging tea presents, etc. I'd love to see a deeper dive into the cultures Diasomnia students hail from! And for some reason I can really see Silver and Sebek as a couple feeling passionate about honoring those cultures. 10/10 also love picturing the two of them waking up in the same bed in the future and going about their morning routines together, trading soft conversation and kisses as they don their armor and prepare for a day of serving their prince as his two most talented knights.

maresebe / mallesebe: I have nothing to say for myself beyond that I love the idea of hero-worshipper getting to date his hero and constantly pinching himself over it and melting into a bumbling unintelligible mess. And then, later in life, the prince being married to his knight. Sebek already adores Malleus so much, being with him would be a dream come true. I think he'd try not to allow himself to become spoiled, but Malleus would encourage it because he thinks Sebek is cute when he gets clingy. As for Malleus, he'll have a lover hopelessly devoted to him and who adores him beyond belief, so that's a pretty nice perk. It's also super funny because both of them are incredibly naive in certain ways ( or maybe it should be phrased as being behind in learning for Malleus, since I don't know if I would use naive to describe him ), so I think they'd be the couple doing odd things like wearing the wrong outfits to certain places or trying to buy the other a painting at a museum because the other likes it. Both just not understanding how the modern world works at all and standing out completely no matter where they are. I love that for them.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

lilia: Oh Lilia, the unofficial second parent for everyone in Diasomnia ( aside from his own son oc, he's the number one parent for him ). I love the way Sebek is so sincere in his admiration of Lilia, and Lilia's response is to tease him and play pranks. I fully believe that's been going on since Sebek was a child, and I also fully believe he went through a phase where he thought Lilia was a vampire and would cry when he saw him. But despite all the teasing, Lilia seems to really care about his boys, and the fact that he is playful with Sebek reflects ( imo ) a type of patience for some of his more childish ways, such as insulting Silver over his status as a human or getting too much in Malleus's face with his idolization. I definitely don't think he'd allow anyone other than Sebek to act badly towards Silver dhsgjryfsu and he's more than capable of providing swift punishment, but he clearly considers Sebek close enough to not do that. I think Lilia has lived a long and lonely life, and while Silver is the main love of his life ( being his child who he canonically talks about in a very doting manner ), clearly Malleus and Sebek are important to him as well. I think creating this pseudo family through the three kids he somehow gathered as his own has probably provided him with a lot of purpose and joy that he might not have had in the same way before. I don't have too much to say beyond that since Lilia is one of those character who - while I enjoy him - I don't think about all that much in terms of HCs since he isn't really one of the characters that I deeply connect with. But I do love the Diasomnia family dynamic, and I think it's really wonderful that Sebek has people watching over him who know him as an individual, especially a parental figure like Lilia.

riddle: I'm putting Riddle for so many of these omg djhgesgdryfjs I PROMISE IT'S NOT JUST BC HE'S MY MUSE HAHAHA, I love him and Sebek though. Their relationship is just beautiful to me, because it provides exceptions to both of their extremely rigid worldviews. The game makes it a point to talk about Sebek's thoughts of the inferiority of humankind over and over, and yet he changed his tune very quickly upon meeting Riddle, and now deeply respects him and seems wholly comfortable around him. As for Riddle, he generally dislikes loud and hyper people that he has difficulty controlling, but Sebek's willingness to listen and learn from him, and the respect he shows him has endeared Riddle to him greatly. I think that for someone like Riddle who has such difficulty sorting through his relationships, how to label them, their true nature, etc, Sebek and Silver have both become important individuals to him, but his relationship with Sebek is unique. Riddle struggles often to get on the same wavelength as his own first year students, and at this point in time ( post-overblot ), the majority of his dorm still dislikes him. But Sebek turns his admiration-filled eyes on Riddle, and Riddle likely gets blown over by them every time. This isn't to say he isn't strict - his regimen for club is probably just as militant as the way he upholds tradition in his dorm. But I think he has a huge soft spot for Sebek nonetheless. I also think, that in a way, looking at Sebek is a little bit like looking at a younger version of himself. Stubborn and stuck in his ways, obsessed with tradition and having things be done only the way he believes they should ( Riddle is definitely still like this to a degree, but I think he's calmed down a bit whereas Sebek is still in the yelling and rioting stage ), and prone to outbursts. But beyond that, he's also cautious, and insecure to a degree as he tries to navigate life among creatures beyond what he grew up with. In a way, he lived in a bubble growing up just as Riddle did ( though what that looked like was very different from Riddle's experiences ), and I think that seeing some of that really hits Riddle a certain way, and makes him feel a bit protective. I also think seeing how scared Sebek was when he got kidnapped, and the panic he went through was simultaneously very shocking and touching for him, because it was a big deal to realize how much he cared. Sorry Diasomnia, Riddle's taking the crocodile now lmao.

My unpopular opinion about this character

I don't really have one. I don't think I'm aware enough of any discourse surrounding him.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I want to see him interacting with his family!! They've been mentioned, so let me see them!! I bet he's really cute around his parents and his older siblings considering the way he tends to look up to those who are older ( and who he deems worthy of his respect ). I also want to see him interact with his horse/any of the horses! I want to know if he's good with them or not.

As stated above, I'd also love to see more of a connection between Diasomnia and the culture of the Valley which Yana keeps dropping hints over. That's not so much Sebek as much as Diasomnia in general, but still.

Riddle doesn't have a single vision, per say. But he does want a proper courtship; an old fashioned type of love. He’d always imagined his first kiss sitting in a gazebo in the moonlight, or something disgustingly romantic along those lines. He wants to be properly romanced, and properly wooed. But as for specific dates, he'd be more than interested in things like perusing an old bookshop together, hand-in-hand ( hand-holding will be a large step for him, which is quite telling of his naivety ), or perhaps visiting all of those countless places he was forbidden from going as a child, but has always wanted to see. The sea, for example, or a festival. The dessert, a forest, fruit orchards...there's so much he still wants to see, and to experience that new world with the person he loves would be utterly lovely.

🌷 - Are they ever been scared/are scared to fall in love?

Not before it happens. Before it happens, he won't think its a possibility for him. But once it does, that's when the fear will kick in. He will find himself frightened by the prospect of rejection, and as a result will hold in his feelings. But as he is right now, love isn't even a blip on his radar.

How I feel about this character

Floyd is hands-down one of my favorite characters. I love so much about him, from how he interacts with the world around him to his personality, which ( mood swings aside ) can go from goofy to terrifying in seconds. He's so much fun, and his child-like way of expressing his enjoyment is precious. The gap-moe between that and his role as a member of what's basically an in-school gang and his appearance of a member of some sort of fish mafia gives me life. He's the best boy!

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Obviously Riddle is my number one. From their manga chapter to in-game moments, the shipping hints are ridiculous. I think they're so hilarious because they go so far beyond opposites attract. But I also think Floyd would be really good for Riddle, because when he feels like it, he's incessant about things, so I think he would be the type of partner who would be really good at teaching Riddle to loosen up and that it's okay to just take a break and have a good time.

I also ship him with Kalim, just because I think their interactions are really cute. That one unfortunately doesn't go too deep for me jgdhrsej but I love every piece of fanart I see, and I love the idea of Kalim's never-ending happy energy being like a jumpstart for Floyd's bad moods ( i.e. really good for getting him out of them ). I think he'd give Floyd as much attention as he wants and would support him and adore him in ways Floyd isn't used to, since he's usually the one getting in people's faces with his attention!

Honorable mention for Idia. I think Floyd and Idia is a hot ship lmaoooo.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Floyd and Jade, obvi. What more can I say? They're great. I haven't liked a pair of twins this much since the Hitachiins, so,,, it's been years.

Floyd and Azul is wonderful too! They seem to have a complicated relationship ( Azul seems to have one with both twins ), where, imo, Azul seems to question their friendship often/think that whatever they have could be easily ended if the twins get tired of him and decide he isn't providing suitable entertainment anymore. It's the prey holding the predators on a leash which is kind of awesome, even more so because the predators are letting it happen. But then, going beyond that, there's something very genuine there since they've all been together since they were kids. It makes me happy.

My unpopular opinion about this character

I don't really have one ( I don't think ). Maybe that he isn't stupid? I know that's a fact given the canon material, but certain parts of the fandom like to portray him that way which isn't something I enjoy.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I really want to be able to have a look deeper into the family life and childhood of the twins. I want to see why they are the way they are, because out of all of the other non-housewardens, they seem to be seriously inherently screwed up somewhere. And that's even taking Rook into account, because while I can see Rook portraying certain obsessive traits and maybe a hint of sadism at time, most of that seems teasing, and he seems to have a large heart behind all of it, whereas Floyd and Jade seem completely self-serving and are liable to wage psychological warfare on others ( Jade ) or get just plain violent ( Floyd ). I also want to see more about their relationship with each other! I know they love each other and care a lot, we've seen that part is genuine. But I want an even closer look. How similar are they? Does this ' love ' they have for each other extend past self-interest? In other words, would they sacrifice for each other or put the other above their own selfishness? I'm not sure, but I'd like to see.

6. - OTP for your muse?

Local highly emotionally unstable hotties in your area, looking for love? More likely than you think! Here he is, nuttier than a five-­pound fruitcake. Don't you just adore the idea of being the apple of his eye?

Anyway.

Despite the catastrophic pain in the ass that romancing mr. rosehearts would be, I adore shipping. I have so many ships that I like, and even the ones that I don't list here are definitely things I'd be willing to try out! But everything I list is probably going to consist of my favorites ( in no particular order; I adore them all ).

Now. To begin with, seeing as though I just did all of those romance hcs, it's only fitting that I lay out the people who I think would fit the description of his desires for things like intellectual stimulation, deep thought put into romantic gestures, and a general ability to keep up with his thirst for knowledge and his tendencies towards constantly rattling said knowledge off aloud. For these things I could picture Malleus, Jade, Azul, Jamil, or Vil. All of them are very smart, and all of them have canonically fine relationships with Riddle which is an important starting point for him. All of them also have plenty they could offer him by way of teaching him things he doesn't know, which would be huge for him, and all of them are clever enough in their own ways to disarm him if he catapults into an episode and starts raging. Yet another point.

AS FOR OTHER SHIPS I REALLY LIKE AND THINK COULD WORK IF GONE ABOUT IN THE RIGHT WAY, there's Rook, Leona, and Floyd. With Leona, obviously they have a lot in common in terms of their backstories, and Riddle was able to actually witness his Overblot firsthand and learn about a lot of these things. We also have a lot of canonical evidence of them having a good relationship and generally caring for each other, so again - good place to start off from. Leona is also smart but the problem with them is that they'd clash a lot - if Leona decides to poke at Riddle for entertainment purposes, things could become a disaster. I also think if he's too lazy, Riddle could quickly lose patience. However, build them up slowly and let them fall into a dynamic that works well enough and it could definitely happen!! With Rook, Riddle already looks up to him and appreciates him, but I think his antics and noncommittal nature at times might drive him up the wall a little bit. Again, with him it depends - there's definitely potential there, and a lot Rook can offer him by way of teaching him and opening the doors to a new perspective on the world.

Finally we have Floyd. I probably don't need to explain it, but here it comes regardless. He's off his rocker, Riddle is off his rocker, they'd be constantly bickering. However. Floyd could be extremely good for Riddle because he's so partial to games and entertainment, is pushy and doesn't listen, and can't bring himself to obey any set rules no matter what. It's very important to note, that behavior is something that Riddle would only be able to put up with because it's from Floyd. Anyone else would be written off at once, but as we see in canon material, Floyd is constantly trying to goad Riddle into stepping away from whatever he's studying or whatever bad mood he's in so that they can do something 'fun'. I think that would be extremely healthy for Riddle, to be in a relationship where he can be pulled away from his own obsessive compulsive rituals no matter what they are. I think Floyd also has an uncanny ability to say something really profound every so often out of nowhere, and it lands exactly the way he wants it to as evidenced in the anthology manga. That part of him would definitely provide good reason for Riddle to fall for him. Finally, I think their bickering and Floyd's unceasing attempts to bother him would provide intellectual stimulation for Riddle in a way - perhaps not the way he'd usually like, but it would keep him on his toes nonetheless, which is saying something.

Also! As an extra, I think Floyd, like Rook, has the ability to show Riddle a new perspective on the world and drag him out into it if he decided he felt like it, so that's a plus.

To sum all of this up, like I said before, I can get into pretty much any ship - these are just some of the ones I've roleplayed before or consumed content for and happen to really like. But believe me, with good chemistry and enough interaction, there's little I won't ship haha!

Rook Hunt.

How I feel about this character

Rook is definitely one of my all-time favorite characters. He's such a freak which is SO awesome, but while I enjoy playing up his odd characteristics and borderline inappropriate habits at times for a good yandere fanfic or a funny interaction with other characters for the sake of provocation, I'm of the minority who believes Rook is generally a very benevolent man. That isn't to say he doesn't have the ability to be extremely dangerous in a multitude of ways, but rather that he doesn't choose to. He still stalks. He still obsesses. But he does no real harm, he's more playful than anything. I love watching him interact with his underclassmen and seeing what a gentle and patient mentor he can be, especially when you put him next to Vil ( no shade my Queen, I adore you )! He marches to the beat of his own drum and he somehow gets away with it even in a place like Pomefiore, which is absolutely hilarious. But no matter how strange he might be acting about one thing or another, or how intense he gets with his science experiments and his hunting, he's a very friendly person which I think is so much fun, since the reality differs so much from a person's initial impression of him. He also seems unable to ignore a person who needs a little bit of uplifting or support, which is lovely. All in all, I just adore him, and I think he's such a fun character in every way. I think Yana gave him so many different sides and made him so well-rounded, and I applaud her for all of it. I also really enjoy the odd french word he drops in everyday conversation. If I had more time and ability to pay attention to a multi-muse blog, I'd probably add him. Maybe some day!

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Rukuepe / Rookepel: There's so much I love about these two. Epel clearly has a special bond with Rook, seeing as though he tends to go to him with things just as Rook tends to be doting with Epel, perhaps to the point that I can picture Vil getting irritated at times that maybe his lessons don't hit as hard due to Rook's spoiling. I think Epel would find the fact that he was in Savanaclaw so cool, and I think he'd love hearing stories about it. I also think he'd eventually turn some of his manly idolization onto Rook if they were together, because he'd be watching him in his element while he's hunting more and more, and maybe he'd even ask him to teach him how to use a bow himself. Despite his distaste for being called lovely or beautiful, I also think Rook could help him get over that complex imo, since Epel would realize he calls literally everyone beautiful, because he finds things that he deems beautiful about every person. I think his odd behaviors already intrigue Epel, and his energy would really just make everything kind of fun - I also think Epel's own energy could match his, so they could just be as chaotic as they want to together.

Rukuviru /Rookvil: I'm basic af, ngl. I mostly enjoy looking at fan art of these two because they're just so aesthetically pleasing, but I enjoy the dynamic between the two of them no matter what it is. It's so weird to me that Vil would become so close with someone who just doesn't conform to his ideas of beauty in the same way he does pre-overblot, and someone so outwardly eccentric as well. But it's precisely because they're so different from each other ( though just similar enough ) that makes me like them so much. I love imagining what it was like when Rook first transferred over from Savanaclaw, and all of the work that Vil had to put into him in order to get him to where he is now ( still an odd bird but definitely outwardly beautiful and elegant, with the ability to do all of the things required of a Pomefiore student and a Pomefiore vice housewarden as well. It definitely had to have been a long road, but Vil clearly saw something in Rook that made him worth it, just as Rook saw something in Vil that he felt was worth sticking things out. Their relationship is so funny, and so awkward, and probably so hard to fully understand for other people. Rook goes zero to sixty with Vil in the way that he'll, for example, go all the way to the Isle of Woe just to bring him skincare products, and Vil will act like that's normal, but that's totally fantastic. I think they're just the best and I love watching other characters react to them as well. They've clearly come a long way from when they first met!

Poly Pomefiore: Literally my OTPS for all three Pomefiore boys together in a relationship. It would be such a mess and I would live for it. 10/10 this is my ideal pairing for all three.

Trey lmao. I love what an unlikely duo these two make up, but it warmed my heart to read the manga chapter about their club life together. It's so lovely how well they get along, and how Rook truly seems to respect Trey and acknowledge any advice he might be willing to give him. I think the composed and mature character paired with the eccentric and silly character is always a fun time, so I enjoyed that peek into their relationship immensely.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Like almost every other non-housewarden character, I'd really just like more Rook-centered material haha.

But mainly I'd love to look more into how and why he transferred from Savanaclaw to Pomefiore, and how he got to know and worship Vil to the degree that he does.
