today on 'shook does things she has no reason to, but wants to anyways':

learning how to do ZUN art!!!!!

now i've actually wanted to do this for a while, but just decided to now on a complete whim because i'm just Like That.

i do wanna go through my process a bit, but first i'll just. give the art bc i know that's why most people are here cjhvbcjuv-

there she is!!! the funny highlighter!!! idk why i chose her of all ocs but i certainly did!!!

ok so process time: i mainly referenced a few of touhou 18's portraits, specifically reimu, mike and misumaru. using these, i made a base sketch of reimu's pose, which i then took and made into a sketch of ayeno that tried to stick as close as possible to ZUN's artstyle (see sketches below). then, i took that sketch and made another but changed some things to fit more in-line with my own art style (specifically the eyes [which i ended up changing back], arms and legs, eyebrows, and some of the clothing details).

the main thing i struggled with though was DEFINITELY the shading. like, i don't really shade my art at all ever...? because it's just. very time consuming. and looks bad half the time. and uhh i gave up halfway through on this because i just couldn't anymore B]

so yeah rip the clothes shading but hey! i'm still really happy with the result, and totally want to do this with more of my touhou ocs in the future :] (just... not now. it's been like 5 days lmao i need a break-)
