she says thank you, just like the rest of them had. he wonders sometimes, if it is the 107 lashes on his back that makes them do so. if it's because they know he tied his life to each one of theirs. the wingleader offers a small shake of his head. he knew he couldn't protect all of them this intensely - that fourth wing couldn't hold them all, that they would not let an entire squad fill up with traitors. but he made the exception every now and then, just as he'd clawed his way to wingleader, garrick was in charge too. they had proven their worth - he had faith in all one hundred and seven of the people he'd signed his life to. the mark might be a death sentence, indirectly - but at least a direct link to the rider's quadrant. once they'd crossed the parapet, he couldn't help not to be invest. until then, he tried not to think too much on it.
