#i'm sorry to be that person but i find a lot of the general attitude towards the world cup in qatar so misdirected and misplaced #(and lowkey arabophobic while people are at it) #you do realise it's fifa right? #fifa is the problem #they are the ones who sold the world cup organization to two authoritarian regimes with no interest in football whatsoever in a row #and btw i didn't see as much of that energy four years ago for russia #or for china for that matter re: the olympics #and both of them btw are worse than qatar when it comes to the treatment of their citizens #but the difference is that china and russia are big countries #that china is (and russia was at the time) a much bigger international player #and i guess then the public opinion isn't as willing to jump on its high horse #so yeah that's my complaint of the western media trends of the moment
