my local theme park, lagoon, opened a 3d-shooter/roller coaster hybrid last weekend. It's in a big fake mountain, disney-style.

They've used the logo and its aesthetic to market this thing, and the logo is what's on all the merchandise, which all looks very epic. It did a very good job of hiding from me, a furry, that the good guys on this ride are cartoon furries (they fight cartoon skeleton soldiers).

Possibly the best thing about this ride isn't even on the ride but in the queue: an animatronic cat lady!

she is expositing a backstory, but the line for the passholder preview I was at went right past her, so I caught none of it

#lagoon #theme parks #animatronics #im being a bit of a goof on this post because i love furries and animatronics and animatronic furries (and skeletons) #but seriously this ride is quite impressive for a non-chain minor local park #3d shooters are my least favorite genre of dark ride #but the non 3d-screen-shooter elements in this ride are delightful #(like the roller coaster bits the special effects the sets the skeletons etc) #and its now my favorite of the genre supplanting knotts berrytales/iron reef #(also having gone on toy story mania; dca spider-man; and ninjango) #(and it really shows something that im namedropping disney knotts and legoland in a negative comparison to fucking lagoon) #(i love lagoon but comparable to the giants it generally is not)
