Ariadne was angry at a lot of things. She was pretty much angry at the universe for getting her here, angry at the faction for sending the dragons after her, angry that her mother had been the one to save her, angry at herself for letting her guard down for long enough to let this happen. She almost died. She had always thought she wasn’t afraid to die but faced with her final lifetime and no more lifelines if she got too hurt, she had been afraid.

Any anger she held towards Astra - who was either her girlfriend or ex-girlfriend, who knew at this point - had been pushed to the wayside. Alex was alive so she hadn’t done anything stupid yet but when she showed up at the door of Astra’s hospital room, a lot of that anger came back. The raven-haired woman had threatened to kill everything she had ever loved - almost everything. She had made her weak and she wanted to hate her for it. She scoffed which turned into a short bought of hoarse laughter, letting her head fall back against her pillow, “Come to add to your collection?” she asked, lifting her non-injured hand to gesture to the covered burns on the other side of her body.

“You know it’s a good thing I have quick reflexes.” As much as I like heels I don’t think that one is really my colour.” Xavier spoke smoothly, two cups of coffee still in his grasp though, a little had sloshed over the rim and onto the cuff of his shirt when he’d had to swiftly duck the flying object. “What poor soul incurred your ire today?” He questioned, setting one cup in front of the woman when he got further inside her office.

Ariadne didn't like not being completely healed. She knew in her first life, it would have taken a few weeks but she was in her last life. She only had the power of one sacrificed witch left in her. There was also a part of her that knew there was another reason she was taking longer to heal. Heartbreak. The person who had caused this was a person she loved and that was slowing the healing down. Magic worked in funny ways and her emotions could mess with it. She wasn't designed to feel things like that. She was designed to kill. Despite everything, she had agreed to meet Astra for a coffee. She said it had to be from square one. She couldn't dive right back into love with her. She did love her but if she went in head first, she would get hurt again. That's what it felt like anyway. As she sat down at the table across from her with a coffee in her hand, she grimaced. Her hand went to her torso, as if holding it eased the pain, "I don't really know how to do this," she admitted, "This feels like a first date. We've never really done that," she pointed out. It had been conversations and hook ups and then they were in a relationship and that was it.

Ariadne was worried about her girlfriend. Ever since her mother had come back, she had been different, distant. Astra was never good at hiding her feelings as much as she thought she was and Ariadne hadn’t failed to notice her sneaking off when she thought she was asleep or not around. Ariadne decided to follow her one day, just to give herself peace of mind. Surely, Astra wasn’t doing anything nefarious. Not after everything they’d been through.

Using all her skills as a a hunter and private investigator, Ariadne followed Astra into the forect. She had a sinking fear that the other was part of the faction, sneaking off for a meeting but she shook this off. There was no way and she cursed herself for thinking the worst. What she ended up finding was Astra at a chest, unlocking it and pulling out a grimoire. Why would she hide them out here when she stored her grimoires at home? She stepped out of the shadows, “What the hell are you doing?”

Everett closed his eyes, trying to calm his emotions. Every time he saw Astra, his blood boiled. He knew she probably had her reasons for the way she was treating Clary but he was loyal to his sister, not his coven leader. He opened his eyes and managed a very stiff smile, “Good evening, Astra.”

“Hey, babe,” Ariadne said, kissing Astra as she found her, “You look hot, Shego,” She said with a teasing smirk after another quick peck before pulling away. She was trying to enjoy herself. Aiden had gone looking for the coven leader. He spent a while looking that by the time he’d found her, he had forgotten what he needed to talk to her about. Or maybe it was seeing her crumpled on the floor with blood coming out of... well, everywhere, that had distracted him. He didn’t need to look around at their surroundings to know what had happened. He’d woken up in a similar state. Skidding forward and falling to his knees, he moved to get her on her side and check if she was breathing, “Astra?” He said, frantically, “Astra can you hear me?”

Ariadne was thinking about a year ago. She’d stood just outside Town Hall with Astra and had been cold and distant. It had physically ached to do it and the feeling came back now just thinking about it. As they walked into the hall now, Ariadne stopped them with the hand that held hers. She took Astra’s face in her hands for a moment and pressed her lips against hers hard. She kissed her for several moments and then pulled away, “Sorry, I just had to do that.”
