"I hate oak's hooves and Cardan's tail, I pretend it isn't even there" is such a stupid comment to make. Are you literally forgetting they are not humans, even if they closely resemble to one? Cardan has four joints in his fingers instead of three. His ears are so elogated they reach the top of his head. He has an animal characteristics that, in his case, is his tail that he decorates with rings and jewelry. Iron and metals and exhaustion fumes hurt him. His eyes are light sensitive and can see perfectly in the darkness. He has fangs, for crying out loud. His skin could for all we know shimmer in the daylight because it is that smooth and soft. He has gold in his eyes. All of these facts make Cardan a faerie and completely opposite of us as humans and yet, it is his tail you have a problem with because it reminds you that he is not your average high school boy crush you can obsess over and go unnoticed. If you don't love Cardan's whole, you don't deserve to love his individual parts. Tail or no tail. Hooves or no hooves. They are characters for whom you fall for because of their personality not their body parts.
