Final Fantasy XV (Actor AU)

Dang this ended up long, I guess I got carried away ;; I'll keep it under the cut. Also, I refer to them as [character]'s actor, or just [character] on and off, but I'm mostly referring to their actor.  

Final Fantasy (the television series): 

Final Fantasy is an anthology science fiction and fantasy series that started in late 1987. 

 Originally it was produced only by the Japanese studio Square Enix, but as it became more popular, different countries come together to help make this series. Therefore it is now under multiple production companies, distributors, and is aired in multiple networks worldwide.

They currently have fifteen seasons, not counting their many spin-offs, movies, and crossovers with their sister series, Kingdom Hearts.

Constantly gets questioned on why the actors wear so many belts and buckles.

Stella Nox Fleuret:

Was an elegant and kind actress that was in a handful of blockbuster movies, so she was already well-known. 

She was set to be in Final Fantasy Versus XIII, which was already in mid-way through filming, but they were making slow progress due to scheduling issues with Noctis' actor. 

However, Stella's actress was suddenly in a near-fatal car crash, putting a halt to Versus XIII completely. 

Not only was she hospitalized for many months, she decided that she wanted to take a break from acting because her traumatizing experience made her want to spend more time with her family.

She was even unsure if she wanted to go back to acting at all. Even if she were to take on any projects or roles, it would be the local ones, so she wouldn't be too far from her family. 

She specifically told director Tetsuya Nomura this and didn't want to hold them back. Nomura respected her decision and took her off her contract soon later. 

This was a very hard decision for her because she loves the series and her costars. Also, no one blames her for doing what she did. Everyone is still on great terms with one another. If another star is in the same town as her, they will call her up and they will have lunch together. 

But because of this they had to scrap Versus XIII completely. With one of the major actresses suddenly pulling out of the show, it left a major gap in the story and production. 

Money was lost, fans were left dumbfounded, and everyone was at a loss. 

This led to a change in teams, production companies, and Nomura passed the director role to Hajime Tabata. It was eventually reworked into Final Fantasy XV, with major changes happening to the story line and character designs. Such as:

"What??? A plain white button up??? No, give him a purple leopard print shirt!!!" 

Noctis Lucis Caelum: 

Is the same actor that played Sasuke in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. That's right, I went there.

Because he was still working on Naruto Shippuden at the time, Versus XIII was in the works for the past five years (not ten years like irl) before it eventually became FFXV. But everything worked out in the end because he finished up with Naruto and was able to give FFXV all of his attention. 

He is a half-Japanese actor, and while he spent most of his life in Japan, he can speak English perfectly. This is due to the fact that his parents are divorced and used to pass him back and forth from their respective countries. 

His uncle is a talent agent, and suggested the role of Sasuke Uchiha to him. The rest is history. 

His personality is actually really close to Noctis'. While he can keep up the brooding, cold facade that he did for the past ten years for his other role, and work the cameras so he can come off as charismatic and charming, the actor is slightly socially awkward and introverted, but everything is smooth sailing if you get along with him and he's so kind to fans and tries to answer as many questions as he can on social media.

Cor's actor kind of intimidates him, and the actor who plays young Noctis drew a crude picture of the Immortal when he was off set. The two giggled about it like schoolgirls without realizing that Cor was right behind them. 

Cor later asked for the picture, had them both sign it, and keeps it on his fridge.

He met some of the other actors of the FF series. Sephiroth's actor scares him and Noct has a slight crush on Lightning's. 

He actually likes vegetables, so whenever he has to take them out and eat a burger or something on camera, he feels like they taste so bland. 

His favorite costume is the Moogle Chocobo Carnival one. Usually they're in sweltering weather and his regular leather costume and king costume aren't very forgiving.

He was playing a prank with Prompto's actor on set and it backfired and he got himself locked in the Regalia for an hour.  

He kept the Ring of Lucii after filming, the Moogle Chocobo hat, and his king costume. They made a king costume specifically for close ups and several copies for his fight scene with Ardyn that was meant to rip/be torn. He once wore the costume to take out the trash. 

He does most of his own stunts, but has a body double that does the fishing for him because the boy can't fish for shit. 

He is a cat person. The dogs who play Pryna and Umbra kind of sense this, so Noct has to keep dog treats inside his pockets when doing scenes with them. 

He loves Vincent Valentine the most out of the entire franchise. 

Prompto Argentum:

His older brother in real life is Loqi's actor (Thanks to @chocobro-hijinks this headcanon is giving me double vision.) who inspired him to act at a young age. 

Loqi's actor is mostly a theatre actor, and when Prompto saw his big bro on stage, he was like "Ah! That's what I want to do."

He was a child actor that was in small family movies that focus mostly on comedy. They're the type of movies with the cheesy front cover, and barely anyone has even heard of it. 

When he auditioned, his FF knowledge was zero to none, so he was like, "Oh, what about those clouds and lightning???" Nomura saw right through him, but felt like he fit the role of Prompto very well, so he gave him the benefit of the doubt. 

Is the social media king. He does some light vlogging on the side, and if acting doesn't work out he can become a full-time Youtuber, no problem. He also has a Tumblr under a common name like "FinalFantasyFan4Life" or something; no one knows that it's him. He spends his break time on set reading headcanons, adding comments to some of them, and reblogging fanart. 

He is a Promptis shipper. 

He doesn't take any of the pictures himself. When he takes a selfie, he turns the camera around and holds it, but there will be a crew member taking the picture for him. 

He says that his favorite moment on set is eating all the food that "Iggy" makes. 

Is a big fan of Cor's actor's work. When he first met him, he almost stopped breathing. 

Since he didn't do very many "large" productions like the rest of the crew, he is still considered sort of a rookie compared to the others. Because of this, he often goes to Cor's trailer when he is stuck on a scene and they figure it out together. 

After filming ended, he kept Prompto's bracelets and bandanna as a memento. 

He hates the cold, so when he was filming for "Episode Prompto" the second Tabata calls "Cut!" between scenes, he will legitimately jump into his trailer and sit in front of the heater for the entirety of his break. 

If he has to stay outside, you will see him curl up into a big ball on his snowmobile with at least five large jackets piled on top of him. You can only see his blue eyes when he does that. 

"So do you miss your crew members? Like Noct, Gladio, and Ignis..."  "Oh yeah, but I bet they have it really rough too. Like sitting by the fire, or in a heated hotel room." 

During a choreographed fight scene he accidentally slipped up and kicked Noctis in the head and gave him a concussion. Noctis insisted that it was okay, but Prompto felt so bad, and was so freaked out that he was apologizing through tears and sobs. 

Ignis Scientia:

Started his career by modeling as a child for luxury, designer brands with a couple of guest roles in soap operas. When he got into his teens he started to focus on acting. 

Never has any bad press on him?? He seems to do no wrong and never has any bad pictures taken of him, even if it was secretly. He's either the most boring person ever, or the most perfect. 

He mostly did psychological thrillers, or suave spy movies like 007. 

Is the Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston of their world. 

He doesn't cook any of the dishes seen on the series, but to get into character he took cooking lessons and can replicate any of them perfectly. Most of the time during his "cooking" scenes, he's just assembling things according to instructions. 

The line, "That's it! I've come up with a new recipeh!" was improv. He loves it so much, he repeats it often. 

Is a jokester despite his image, and loves fooling around on set. If he pranks you that means he likes you. 

During an interview he pulled out some Gladnis smut fanfiction the he found and read it in his most passive, monotone voice. 

Didn't know that he was supposed to go blind until the very day he was supposed to put on the makeup. 

Is allergic to coffee beans, but since he was cast into the role relatively late, they had already requested Ebony cans and vending machines to be made. The "coffee" that you see in mugs is dark hot chocolate and if he drinks out of the can it's usually water. 

Has scarily good twenty/twenty vision, and sometimes his glasses are just empty frames. He goes to push them up, and ooop he almost pokes himself in the eyes. 

He is fond of his current costume. He felt that his Versus XIII outfit was very plain and made him look like a "basic mafia mobster." 

Had a high fever while filming "Episode Ignis," but insisted that they film anyway because his sickness helped him act better. (Poor babe.)

Kept Iggy's gloves and glasses after filming. 

Gladiolus Amicitia:

He started out as a stunt double, fight choreographer/stunt coordinator. He was originally brought into the show to help the actors with their fight scenes, but they were looking for a forth member of the Chocobros and he already got along great with the crew and cast, so he got the job. 

Was totally pumped up to not wear a shirt most of the time in XV, because he worked so hard to get his rippling nine-pack. 

His favorite emoji is the flexing bicep. He uses it at the end of every caption he posts, even if it doesn't really make sense. The fans eat it up though. 

"It's such a nice day today! 💪"    "Just having lunch! 💪 "

His actor is the real mom friend of the crew. Iggy is responsible and all, but if Noctis or Prompto do anything stupid, he mostly watches in the background smugly. Gladdy Daddy to the rescue. 

The cast once got together and read complementing, positive tweets from real fans to Gladio for a video. Noctis looked Gladio right in the eye with a straight face, and said, "Sweet dreams...Daddy." Prompto continued this by saying, "Let me have your children, Daddy." 

Gladio burst out laughing and turned bright red. 

He is such a college student at heart that he doesn't mind eating all those cup noodles. But due to shooting the same scene over and over in one go, he sometimes has to go through eight cups at a time. He knows that it's not good for you, and occasionally has to spit it out off camera. It breaks his heart. 

Is bisexual. He doesn't bring it up often, but he came out publicly before, but to the media it seems as if they skipped over that fact. He doesn't really mind, but he get exasperated when interviewers constantly try to press that false facts that he's straight onto him. 

After a particularly tiring day filming, he fell asleep on a table with his head down. When he woke up, he found out that his tattoo body paint rubbed off on his cheek. He didn't know this, and the other guys wouldn't tell him until a crew member had to come up and stop him.  

He kept Gladio's necklace as a memento.

re: getting shot and left for dead, jack is out of the field for what feels like ages. if not for hitching a ride from someone also in the ssr who asked after him ( and the poor maid who screamed like it was her career upon finding him ) he’d probably be dead. he’s told after the fact that by some miracle the hospital didn’t have to go digging around for the bullet, but the blood loss and shock almost did him in anyway and he’s stuck in a hospital bed unconscious for a few days after the shooting. longer after waking up, for docs to poke and prod and make sure he wasn’t going to belatedly die on them, and about the only thing he really remembers about that part is sousa looking like he can’t decide whether to throttle jack for the scare or hug the hell outta him for surviving. 

jack would’ve put money on someone yelling at him about the whole thing, somewhere. but no one does. actually, everyone makes damn sure to sound like normal, at least when visiting him, not that he gets much in the way of visits after the first couple days being awake. in fact everyone is annoyingly light-handed, like jack will break and shatter into pieces if the wrong word is said or he gets bumped too hard; it’s annoying as hell only he’s too worn out to really complain about it.

by the time he gets in any condition to travel again, jack’s put his transfer in to be put at a regular desk and to move coasts, mostly because he trusted the bunch here and knew sousa and peg wouldn’t treat him like a baby. he needed someone to ( or he’d go crazy ), and for everyone to forget about the whole damn thing. sure he wants to know who in blazes shot him, wants to know if he needs to be looking over one shoulder waiting for another attempt and worrying about it succeeding. but he takes the required time off for healing with minimal complaint, mulling over....well, plenty. more than. by the time jack is back at the office, he’s dealing with paperwork because they won’t send him back into the field first thing.

and he’s quiet.

quieter than he’s been in his life, in every meaning of the word. he does the work he’s given and that’s about it; it was easier to ignore all the stupid pity-looks and whispers of concern as long as he kept his head down, and he knew he was in no shape to push to be the lead for awhile. working meant not having to think about getting shot, how the new scar aches when he breathes too deeply, how close to death he really had gotten himself. how shaken surviving left him. the hitch in the plan was that paperwork turns out to be incredibly mindless after long enough, giving jack more than enough time to think about everything. and he sure as hell didn’t enjoy what came up.

for better or worse, pietro makes zero efforts to mask his accent. sounding sokovian is, really, all he has left of his home, and he isn’t planning to give that up. he can mimic if he really wants to, but truth is he doesn’t. he likely never will. and he isn’t keen on anyone trying to change his mind.

as can apparently not be said enough times, james is a Protector. Defender, capital D. put anyone under his charge or let him get attached, and they will be protected at nearly any cost. 

bucky is, forever and always, his first priority of course, but this applies to any point in his life. widow program survivors, the loose wolf spider survivors. bucky’s family in romania who gave cover and a place to stay after the fall of HYDRA. bee, steve eventually. the rest of the avengers no matter how much they stress him out personally. 

the only two he’s out loud confessed this about are bucky and bee, if only because past possibilities don’t get brought up and the team assume whatever it is they assume about him, but if left to his own devices and time he does get attached to others. he does have an order for who he’ll protect first that’s unlikely to change no matter how he’s treated, but he won’t say never. consequently he’s also incredibly cautious about how many people he allows himself to interact with, specifically to cut down on how many people could potentially be turned into weaknesses used against him.

i’ve posted before about how blue candies are actively a favorite of james’s, but what else does he enjoy? and what about everyone else? well:

james also thoroughly enjoys grape- and banana-flavored candies, though he prefers creme savers and hard candies for these flavors

dugan unironically loves dum dums. he really does. i still giggle about it

sharon thoroughly enjoys gummy bears! gummy worms are a backup choice

maria fucking loves twizzlers specifically. lord help you if you get her redvines and say it’s fine

sadly she also really likes candycorn. i still dont get it

angie enjoys candy. just in general. please give her sweets my god.

she and thor are the least picky, they’ll just eat it because ooooo candy

both sam and riley digs cherry flavored stuff and you may quote them on that

maybe surprising maybe not but bucky agrees on this, tho he also digs watermelon

steve likes hard candies because he’s not enough of a grandpa i guess

bee is a bubblegum fiend. she can make bubbles bigger than her face by the time she’s a teenager and is very proud of this fact

sof finds themself a fan of honey- and maple candies, though taffies are an adequate second

frigga actually has quite the sweet tooth in general, but greatly enjoys honeyed treats most

tony would honestly rather skip the candy ordeal entirely and have ice cream instead, 0 regrets. chocolate is his go-to for gifting candy tho

pietro loves pixie stix. he eats entirely too many of those since having been introduced to them upon getting to america, good luck getting him to stop ever hoo

tony is good at many things, but reasonably naming things is not one of them. he comes up with what acronym he wants, then figures words related to the project in one way or another to fit said acronym/name. consider:

JARVIS - Just A Really Very Intelligent System

named after Edwin Jarvis, who cared for him from the day Tony was born through to the day Edwin died

ANA - Another Needed Arrangement

named after Ana Jarvis, wife to Edwin and who also cared deeply for Tony as he grew up

Ultron - Ultimate Lasting Thorough Rescuer Operative Nonpareil

created with the intent to protect Earth, eventually making the Avengers unnecessary in part so they could pursue their own lives again

FRIDAY - Female Replacement Intelligent Digital Assistant Youth

I haven’t emphasized this in awhile, so here it is: a big theme on this blog is mixed backgrounds. Be it for muses, or their friends or family, it’s incredibly present and varied. Consider:

Steve, Bucky, and Angie are all children of immigrants. 

Peggy is an immigrant.

Bucky and Angie are both Italian-Jewish descended, his family largely from Romania and Hungary, hers largely from Albania. Steve is Irish-descended.

Tony and Dugan are third generation American, and Dugan’s mamma’s family came from Wales. She made sure he and all his siblings had at least one Welsh name for this exact reason.

Frigga is a captive immigrant to Asgard, making Thor also second-generational to his homeland. Sofyra is Vanir-descended.

Bee? She’s African-American but sadly doesn’t get to grow up knowing what her biological family is like. She does grow up knowing Bucky adores her like a da should love his daughter

Sam’s family has been America a long time and his parents had to try hard to make sure he and his siblings could have a chance for better lives and he hates knowing there’s still a long way to go

Riley, perhaps surprisingly, has mostly Scandinavian ancestry. 

Pietro is Sokovian and Jewish

To that point, Maria is nonreligious and her while family has been in America a long time she kept no ties to her father when she left his house. Better to let that bridge burn.

This isn’t even counting financials... 

Pietro used to have to steal regularly to keep himself and Wanda fed

Bucky and Dugan worked less-than-legal jobs more than once to ensure they or a loved one could stay off the streets, and Steve sometimes had to choose between medicines or rent, or even between meds.

Peggy? Her family’s old money, and that passed in part to Sharon as she grew up

Riley’s the son of a doctor and actor, the latter being a multi-millionaire and he has a trust he can take from any time he needs to that she made before he was even born.

  while some things came easily, learning to write in english was never one of them. pietro’s letters would blend together and be practically illegible, leaving him frustrated enough to actually just write in sokovian instead and pretend there’s no difference either way.

  until it was pointed out he didn’t have to write in a specific size or style. it was like a magic button had been pushed once he began to practice with using only capitals or in a bigger font than his usual handwriting. as a result when writing in english, his words tend to be spaced, all-capital letters, but at least people can read it now. he doesn’t have nearly as much issue with needing to write now either.

         james’s involvement with the spider programs is a long-standing proof that HYDRA has always sought to not only change but control everything under them. it unfortunately also was a period that led to more efforts to suppress both james and bucky to get done what they wanted, as well as becoming more efficient at keeping future widows under control for longer.

       wanting to continue testing protocols on james and ensure he was properly under thumb, HYDRA ended up placing him as a teacher in the black widow program as a subject to test the girls’ ability to deal with targets who aren’t willing to be friendly. what they didn’t count on however, was james being a Defender. his baseline is protecting, convoluted as the line has become, and putting these girls under his tutelage actually had the very unintended consequence of softening james. he wanted them to succeed because he wanted the girls to survive. he never aimed lethally with them ( as some other teachers insisted on doing ), but he never pulled back either. 

    it was more than that though. he taught what he knew, but he also learned from what they knew. his russian becomes a practical skill when not helping with their english. he practices ballet movements that the girls demonstrate for him, something that started as a challenge but turned into a game the longer he has the same students. and that bond made it all the more difficult for them or him to stay under HYDRA control.

       but the girls under his tutelage are considered successes. graduates of the program. and when the wolf spider program is created, there’s no question that he be a teacher there as well.

   unfortunately as a Protector type ( and still too early in the process for HDYRA to keep that part of him fully shut down yet ) he kept getting attached to his students all over again, just like with the widow program. when something went wrong for the boys, james struggled to stay together. when something happened to james, the boys would break protocols and more than once openly defied superiors. the problem here was the boys were much bolder about it than the young widows ever were, and acting out wasn’t done specifically to aid or protect james but in any direction they could find. the wolf spider program, ultimately, was decided to be a failure by HYDRA when things did not improve. there was one major class, with two younger sets in earlier stages, but they decided it a program best to be erased completely. better to scratch it all than leave it unfinished: all subjects were to be terminated. 

                                                             no exception.

       james was arranged to be part of those overseeing the termination process. it proved to be a poor choice for HYDRA because they came back to  the other teachers dead, with only three students down as well. he’d made a snap decision to protect the boys rather than follow orders, and somehow even manages to get most of them safely out of not only their location but out of russia entirely. it isn’t an ideal situation, and he has no idea what happens to them after that point, but he got them out. he kept his students alive, and they got each other out of the firing line. 

   it takes months for HYDRA to track him down after. and james remembers nothing else about that period. but he knows he did what he’s supposed to: he protected. and one day, he may tell someone else about it. he might even try to find some of his previous students, some day.

    while she’s seen some of the few still-living survivors from the War, frigga still has not found or seen her brother. part of it is due to fear he again won’t recognize her, or worse he will and won’t want to see her. odin never told her what happened to freyr, and he was able to use their bond to prevent her asking anyone else for answers including heimdall. consequently, frigga has spent the majority of her lifetime with no idea if freyr’s even still alive or if he was killed after being dragged from the palace.

all that said, she also still hopes that one day she’ll get to see him. to apologise as a free woman in a way she couldn’t as a captive girl. it’s the only thing she wants more than to see her homeworld again and hope it will accept her back too.

                                one day, she might even be ready to try.

he may not seem to be at first glance ( or even several glances ), but james enjoys music. put a guitar in his hands and he can play for hours. put him at a piano, same thing.  he can use a solely mathematical approach to make tunes ( which he does, the more opportunities he has to play, rather than only relying on what may “ sound good ” ) or from memory from watching someone else first. 

the only instrument, in fact, that draws a wistful and sentimental attitude from him? the balalaika. if asked, james wouldn’t be able to answer why. he truthfully doesn’t know how he knows as many songs as he does on it. let him play long enough and he’ll even hum some bars. occasionally, if he thinks he’s alone, he might -might- sing some lines too. maybe.
