Originally, he had planned on taking a walk around the hospital as a way to destress. The earlier hours of his night shift was hectic that it was could be considered as toxic. Knowing that that the night was still young and patients would still arrive at any time, he needed a clear head to function. As a doctor, his calls could mean life or death to a person.

Sighing, he looked up at Seoul’s skyline, squinting just a tiniest bit to see the stars that had been overwhelmed by the lights of earth. He wished he could see them though. Shaking his head from the thought, he turned around and started to make his way back to the hospital when he saw him. “Ah. You’re Jieunnie’s husband! What brings you here?” He greets warmly, bowing his head slightly. He remembered the older man in the passing. Jieun had always told him about her beloved husband. Mingun inwardly grimaced, suddenly feeling awkward. While he was Jieun’s cousin, he hadn’t really considered himself as a part of their family truly yet. He’s getting there. But the wounds that had festered were still too fresh. But he had maintained an amicable relationship with that tiny spite fire that is Kim Jieun. “S-sure.” He blinked, taken a back by the sudden but polite offer of the man. Though he won’t be going home just yet. “I was just about to return to the hospital though.” He gestured at the folded lab coat that was over his arm. “I do appreciate company.”

Mingun had never used the fact that he’s a high ranking executive of his family’s hospital to avoid doing his job as a doctor. True , he might be an executive but he was still new to the job as well as being a doctor. After the last quarter’s meeting and the need for more doctors for Songsan ; he had been juggling between his duties as a director as well as being a doctor.

Like a zombie , he literally dragged himself into the doctor’s lounge after performing a five hour long colectomy. Even the floor itself looked comfortable enough to sleep in. He spies his fellow surgeons on different states of sleep littered around the lounge as guilt gripped his already exhausted mind. He will have to remind himself to talk with the board about the hiring more staff.

He was just about to fall asleep when Jinki’s personal ringtone went off forcing Mingun from the uncomfortable position that he has been planning on sleeping in. He idly debated ignoring the idol’s messages especially at this time of the night and his state of exhaustion but he realized that he couldn’t do that to Jinki. Not anymore. He had done it in the past and had lasted for a decade , he wasn’t going to do that to him anymore. Mingun owe Jinki at least that much.

He literally regretted that decision when he read his messages though. Of all the nights that Jinki has to be annoying it just have to be tonight. Couldn’t it wait like maybe tomorrow ???
