does panda pearl have a magic system ofany sort? i know maria's ref included a gun-kinda weapon right? do the other main characters have weapons? feel free to ramble i love stuff like this 😎😎

THANK U SM FOR THIS QUESTION BUG IT MEANS A LOT i will do my best o explain this coherently, but YES, there is a magic system!!! tthere's basic magic in the comic, stuff like controlling / producing elements (fire, water etc) or levitating things, etc. but the main system that is relevant in the comic is a special kind of magic called "Soul Binding"

in panda pearl, a character named Voice of Reason explains to Maria about it. more or less, it involves joining the heart of two organisms through the location of their soul - in the humans of the comic, their soul is located in both heart and brain. In trees, its their roots. and in oysters, its the "pearls" they produce. "Soul Binding" involves a living creature (e.g. a human) binding their soul to a pearl and pulling power from it.

Once bound, the pearl can be summoned at will. with this, you can also fuse a weapon of choice with the pearl(s), and summon that weapon at will. otheriwse, wearing clothing with the pearl (could be as simple as a ring or necklace) will enhance you bodily, such as a glove allowing you to punch with more strength

Maria's father, Edgar, claims to be the one who invented the process. while i wont say if he did or not, whats certain is he did make it more ...accessible. He taught a good few people to soul bind, including his son, Roy, Maria's older brother. Roy can summon an axe, and Maria has yet to learn the magic to summon her guns in canon time, but her guns have pearls in them as well. edgar himself has a sword

there's a lot of , and I mean a lot of, plot following the magic. this is because Nori, Maria's uncle, seemingly did a sort of taboo with his pearls. Normally, your soul stays in place when you soul bind, and the pearl you bind to is simply an extension. Nori's panda eyepatch, the "Panda Pearls", instead holds his soul entirely, and his body/heart/brain are the extensions. as a result, he must wear the eyepatch or he dies. its fine he can be brought back by putting the pearls back on. theres more story to that as well, including the fact that nori can transform into a demonic panda beast, but hoohoo spoilers.

this is Molath! he's a centaur and hes an asshole . hes very angy and does not like humans bc hes known nothing but suffering at the hands of humans so really can you blame him. he's a tsundere type, hes very soft underneath everything. he just will not admit it in a million years.. hes very tall also, big horse

next is Roy! he's maria's older brother - hes 19. hes also buff and angry and his mask+outfit is due to his body not being able to supply oxygen on its own. the tubes + mask are magic that help him breathe and supply oxygen to his body. hes very angry but hes a good big brother at heart

cedric is a shapeshifter! his brother is Fore and they probably originally looked more alike, but Cedric's shapeshifting comes at a cost - he can transform into anyone and anything but at the expense of keeping at least one trait of whoever he changed into. the cat ears, for example, are from his shapeshifting into a cat once or twice. glasses, eye color, everything. hes an asshole too. everyone you asked abt is a bit of an ass im so sorry.

2. Who would they beat at certain competition? Who would they absolutely crush in the competition? Is there anyone they’d be pretty equally matched with? What makes these outcomes possible, and how does everyone feel about it? (These competitions can be anything you’d like, whether a fight or a video game, etc.)

Maria is absolutely a super smash bros master. in reality, she’s weak, but in the game she’s able to defeat any opponent. the exception is allen, on whom she goes easy on because allen deserves to be gone easy on. she also goes easy on her mom, Emily, but quickly regrets that because Emily quickly picks up speed and beats her. I think everyone’s thoughts are just “hehe wow maria beat me” but then theres roy who is roy and gets pissy. also the reason she’s good at it is because she’s got fast fingers. fast movements. strong button mashing. me too baby

7. Who has impacted your character most in their life? How did that person (or people) shape your character? Does your character wish the impact had never happened, or was it a change they appreciate? Are they indifferent entirely to the concept?

I think there’s been a good amount of characters who have impacted Maria, but I think one of the most profound has been Allen. Allen took care of Roy and Maria when emily passed and Edgar was very often too busy with his job to take care of them himself. maria appreciates the impact, the knowing compassion and knowing safety. she often acts indifferent, as if this is to be expected of ANY family, but she knows shes fortunate to have Allen.

✨ Roy is Maria’s older brother! hes older by 5 years, making him 19!  despite only being 19 he’s built like a brick house because he constantly trains and works out because he has always done this because he’s full of rage and has to express it somehow

✨ Roy is, as previously stated, very angry all the time. In chapter one he gets pissed and chases Maria with his battleaxe. However, he’d never actually hurt Maria, and if she wasn’t actually able to avoid him or was actively upset by the behavior, he would not chase her like that (but because she thinks its fun to poke fun at him and then run, he does it. sibling bonding.). In reality, though, he loves his little sister dearly, and part of his constant training is wanting to be able to protect her. He attempts to train her, too, so that she’ll be strong herself, but she doesn’t really want to train.

✨ Allen ( @vampking ‘s oc ) is like a second mother to him. While he remembers his mother, Emily, more than Maria does, he also knows Allen as a caregiver. Someone who took care of him and his little sister when Edgar was not able to rise to the challenge. He’s never been one to show emotions, but he softens around Allen and tries his best to not get mad around them for any reason (though it’d never be anger directed at them, just people/things around them and him)
