bio under the cut !

dr. niall shelley is, in layman's terms, something of a genius. his mother, aedora shelley, was a water mage of the pheonix grave guild and his father was a doctor. he was able to read quite early and ahead of his peers, something that his parents were quite happy to brag about. his prowess in academics bled into his interest of magic, especially when he found out he had the same affinity as his mother. niall's mother was something of an inspiration for him.

when he was fourteen years old shortly after he graduated the fiore's equivalent of high school, his mother went missing on a mission and was never found again — the common hypothesis being it was due to the uptick in cult activity. this caused obvious grief in his family and his father actually tried to forbade niall's forray into magical studies. niall was obviously upset at this but told his father he would listen and stop.

that was a lie, obviously. however, due to his dour mood and the memory of his mother being just a bit much, niall fell into the hole of blood magic. and how that can be applied. as his father tried steering him into the medical field, like himself, niall obediently followed up until the point he announced his major. which was biomedical magical studies. a huge fight happened and niall ended up going NC with his father at the tender age of sixteen, luckily he was able to go to school still thanks to the Achal Rose scholarship at the University. he graduated at the tender age of 21 and continued his research under the eye of the council.

he was going to reach out to his father, but upon attempting to, found his father had re-married and moved on. so niall decided to let him be. he lived in era for a time, but ended up getting his research destroyed by ultear when she destroyed the council buildings. and when the council started to form back up, he was not a priority. only his actual ability to heal was, not his research. he was feeling used.

it was around then that he was found by ivan dreyar, master of raven tail. it turned out people did read his research outside his immediate bubble. he was offered a monthly stipend, the freedom to continue his research and the ability to be an active mage. though he had heard a lot of things about raven tail, the council was pretty biased niall knew especially after yajima didn't take him seriously. so. why not join raven tail?

now. in all this the mask was not mentioned once. he started wearing something to cover his face since he looked a lot like his mom. and then it just escalated. he refuses to take it off and has claimed he used magic to blend it into his skin so someone wouldn't simply take it off.

other things about him:

he tends to ramble a lot, especially in the beginning when he was being a more patient-facing doctor. he always was! but never to this extent. and he has had to learn a lot on the job with raven tail member's not always being....100% human. but he does his due diligence.

he does always give lollipops to his patients and orders them in bulk size to raven tail. they're kept under lock and key.

he loves wine and drinks it at night with his dinner. he is a connoisseur and has wondered who to bring him to different vineyards...

his raven tail stamp is over his heart.
