07 from the start ⸝⸝ cold drinks and cowardice

"oh? we're not going to the library this time?"

it must be a sign, you think, holding a paper bag in your right hand and his hand in your left. it was late enough into the cold winter season for frosty breath and signature hot chocolate but warm dandelion rays seemed to follow you two and frame the campus perfectly.

"nah," you shrug, "pela said that the council agreed that the stage would be put in the middle of the campus uh- garden? lawn? grass area thingy- you know what i mean…"

"yeah! we thought the area would bring the most traction." you're not even looking at him: your nervous eyes glued to your surroundings with false confidence, but you know he's giving you that look. that sickening soft one that you often mistake for adoration.

it's… fond??

and it makes your heart race — just for a second, before remembering what he said before.

"not a date huh…" you mutter dejectedly.

truthfully, it kinda sorta hurt when you found out he said that. whilst not fully demolishing your ego and porcelain heart, it did pinch at you — like soft rope burn for your self-esteem.

but what hurt a little more was the fact that he never told you. never told you about his private account that is.

i mean yeah… i have one too, but that's because i talk about how much i like him on there, you reason with yourself. and i get privacy and everything. but, bronya? you thought him and bronya were just school friends. were you… even his best friend?

"hm?" a hum interrupts your spiralling thoughts.

"anyway! i thought we could like, survey the area. see how and should things be set out and work from there." you say with faux enthusiasm, "we can work on your quote-on-quote poster on a bench nearby too."

"...it's not that bad."

"uh huh," you tease, raising an eyebrow. whatever. who geppie lets follow his private doesn't mean anything.

eventually, you two end up sitting on a bench together that faces the lawn.

"oh come on! look," gepard laughs as he pulls out his laptop, already logged in and displaying a somewhat improved version of his last poster. the changes are minor, like font changes and whatnot. but you can tell just how much effort he put into it. effort he put into everything and anything he did. a quality of his that you love. "i got rid of some of the uglier images," he pointed out excitedly, shuffling closer to you so you could get a closer look, "just like you told me to." the last part, a whisper similar to the sweetness of vows.

"it's good…" you mumble, too busy clinging onto his words and soothing a racing heart.

"really?"

"really." you reply earnestly, hooded eyes studying yours.

you wanted to lean in. to tread past the tightrope of a line preventing you and gepard from being more than just friends; to finally speak your mind on what you've been feeling for the past few years.

but…

"ah!" you explain, pretending to remember something by suddenly grabbing your paper bag from before.

…you're a coward.

inside are two beverages and a warm pastry carefully wrapped in tissue. "my favourite…" gepard mutters, surprised, "you remembered."

"iced coffee. you always preferred things cold. and a pastry too! it's a thank you for yesterday and-"

his ears turn redder than the normal red-on-a-windy-day red. and you almost — almost considered this a win: a step over that line, before…

"ha. you really are my best friend."

04 from the start ⸝⸝ library date (gone wrong)

beads of sweat (and perhaps tears) ran down your face as you stopped at the second floor of the library. while the ground floor was stockpiled with various books ranging from fiction to non fiction, the upper floor housed an idyllic study and reading space paired with a student-run coffee shop.

the air held an aromatic smell — smoky and earthy which complimented the overall rustic vibe of the place. although artifical, the books and plants that decorated the (what was once empty) shelves and rails suited the place too, capturing the classic academia aesthetic the council were going for. the perfect environment for talking shit about sampo (you're joking. you'd never do that to your best bud sampo... maybe).

unfortunately, you weren't in the mood for that right now because you swear — you were dying.

you wouldn't say you weren't athletic or anything but holy shit, with the way these stairs made you gasp and heave like you just ran a marathon, you'd start to think you were. like — couldn't the school at least afford those flat escalators used in airports and malls?

searching the area for your blonde 'boo-boo bear', you couldn't find him. ain't no way i just got played (dhmu im going home and never going to the library ever again- )

ah. never mind, he's at the table behind you. and man, did he look so cute when he was focused.

surprisingly, he was seated at a circular table a bit far from the others — your favourite spot. why? "so i can stalk geppie from afar obviously!" you once told your friends jokingly. in reality, it was for a totally different reason.

your eyes wandered back to the man in question. he was dead concentrated on his laptop, perhaps trying to fix the dumpter fire of a poster he produced. jaw tightening, he leaned backwards, an adorably annoyed sigh left him as he ran a hand through his messy, blonde locks which caused the silver necklace you gave him to jingle across his chest. god damn, he's so illegally fineeeee.

...but how'd he know that was you favourite spot?

"oh name? you alright?" he asked, finally noticing your struggling form against the railing.

why do i hear wedding bells?

"give me a sec... damn these stairs... im gunna manifest the downfall of whoever made them... " you huffed, shaking your fist like a senile old man.

"uh huh... i uh- wish you good luck on that," gepard replied, patting you on the shoulder stiffly. he's so awkward (i want him). "anyway, as promised, i have your favourite coffee at the table. let's start?"

"'course!" you cheered, thanking the man above for the absolute angel in front of you. but as you were about to grab your drink-

"well aren't we moving fast, huh?" you teased, "holding hands before marriage, geppie? technically not my hand but my wrist... but you know what i mean-"

"...why's your hand bloody?"

"h uh???"

looking down at your right hand, sure enough, it was covered in a liquid layer of crimson that dripped down your palm to your fingers. it seems you had clenched your hand too hard earlier when receiving gepard's text message in the music room, causing small punctures to appear on the palm of your hand.

"...woops?" you shrugged dismissively, "i'll ask a barista for a tissue or something- hey! where are we going? geppie?"

he looked... angry? kinda hot tho-

woah who said that??????

"the infirmary. you should at least wrap the cuts properly," he replied sternly, dragging you towards the exit of the library, your wrist still firmly in his hold. "plus," he started, "shouldn't we already be used to hand holding?"

bronya. student council president and majoring in politics. she's an all rounder in almost every subject and is extremely moral orientated; THE model student. it's no surprise she's the president. her weakness? ask seele. she's also the principal's daughter and in the same class as gepard.

seele. student council member and majoring in physical education. outgoing yet intimidating (to men *cough*), how the hell did she even get elected, you say? it's a mystery to be honest. on the bright side, she brings the fun to the student council and isn't afraid to say what's on her mind: the perfect student representative. she's also apart of the university's volleyball club, wildfire.

natasha. student council member and majoring in medical science (rip). the oldest and most responsible member of the group, natasha, makes great effort to take care of everyone — it's guaranteed she'll make a great doctor one day. even with little time due to many responsibilities, she still takes up on the role of being wildfire's manager (she's crazy. someone get her a sedative).

name. bassist of mechanical fever and majoring in business (surprisingly). although they prefer to stay within their small friend group, with a bright and outgoing personality, name is well known across campus for being extremely friendly. however, some may describe them as reckless and kinda dumb tho (it's pela. pela is the some that say).

serval. guitarist and leader of mechanical fever while majoring in engineering. as a musician, she's incredibly popular on and off campus. she's also the big sister of the group (as in, she toes the line between a responsible and irresponsible parent) and works part time at the antique store 'neverwinter workshop'.

pela. drummer and majoring in history. surprisingly, student council member and straight A student pela is fucking sick at playing the drums (and a big ass artem wing simp). you wouldn't believe it, but she can be just as delusional as name... when it comes to tears of themis.

sampo. keyboardist and majoring in business. he enjoys three things: cross dressing, money and scamming the first years and transfer students. are we even surprised? though, if you asked, he won't hesitate to help out a fellow comrade (for a price of course...).

05 from the start ⸝⸝ antiseptic memories

you fell silent. im going to jump off these fucking stairs i swear.

fortunately, you quickly arrive at the school's infirmary, the tissue in hand (which gepard lent you along the way) already soaked in scarlet.

"this kinda reminds me of high school right, name? you used to go to the nurse's office all the time."

the infirmary is somewhat similar to the one you used to frequently visit when you were younger: creamy white walls, neatly lined tables with scattered computers, medical records decorating shelves, two single beds (one which you gladly hop on) with a blue curtain as a divider and the familiar stench of a shit ton of antiseptic. however, it did lack the cranky school nurse who used to constantly berate you for your 'reckless' behaviour.

"hey! it's not my fault serval nearly killed me with a hacksaw!" you argued. i think i get my 'reckless' behaviour from her.

"didn't you want to see if she could hit a target with it like an axe thrower?"

"don't tell me you weren't curious too!"

you hear a goofy snort from near the counter. "maybe..." you use a hand to cover your idiotic grin.

with a wet cloth in hand, he handles yours, wiping away at the remaining dried blood and dirt. he was so gentle too, your skin flushing at the tender attention and focused gaze, as if he was tending to something precious like a jeweller to a gem — or a florist to flowers. of course, you were anything but delicate with that roguish attitude of yours.

regardless, you couldn't take your eyes off of him.

"hold this cloth for me will you? make sure to maintain pressure on the wounds to prevent anymore bleeding." gepard instructs, heading over to the medical cabinet to search for a bandage roll.

"alright, alright. but you know, i could've done this myself..."

"but i want to," he interrupts, "it's only natural that i do."

naturally, for the ever-so righteous and caring student council member gepard landau, right? if it was pela, she'd throw a bandage at you and call you stupid for getting hurt in the first place.

"ah there it is." he grabs a roll from the top shelf, taking your hand to wrap the bandage slowly around your palm, making sure to avoid wrapping it too tightly to your liking — just like he's used to. his actions are warm but his colder, almost frustrated expression from earlier returned to him. your heart stirs a little.

"i wished you cherished yourself a little more, though..." he quietly mumbles. but you definitely heard him.

"..."

please don't make me more delusional than i already am, gepard.

"anyway...im sorry i wasted your time. we even left our drinks at the library" you whispered, opting to stare at the floor instead of him.

"it's not your fault, name." he reassured, "your health comes first. we can just meet up another time."

"how about tomorrow after your meeting? i'll pay for the coffee this time." you tempt instead of letting out an 'agonising' scream at his remark. at this, his ocean eyes soften, a grin spreading back onto his face.

"sure. for you, i'll be there any time."
