“... No, no.” You laughed gently, erasing Kise’s math problems from his black notebook. “Ryota-kun, take it easy. I’ll explain it to you again, okay?”

“Ahhhhh! Y/Ncchi, it’s too hard. This cannot be understood! Math is not for me.” Your friend sighed loudly, resting his cheek on his hand. “Ehhh. I’d rather watch something on TV or play basketball.”

“You’re doing fine Ryota-kun, let’s do it again, but a little slower. Right? If you manage to do something by yourself, I’ll bring you the cake. My mother made a delicious apple pie two days ago.” You smiled warmly, at which the blonde moaned loudly, but nodded.

Additionally, after a short while he hit the sleeping Aomine with his elbow in the stomach, which muttered something incomprehensible under his breath.

forever sad about how little was done with aomine and kise’s relationship and their revealed mutual understanding in the kaijo vs touou arc. like they just told us they know each other better than anyone else, give us the most emotional game full of shared history and unresolved feelings, revealed aomine’s soft spot for kise and there just. could have been so much more done with this relationship and the intimacy and angst and electricity that sets it apart. kise + kagami | bring out strengths in one another without hurting one another. aokise reminds me of the "we make each other alive. does it matter if it hurts?" quote. but kise and taiga can have such a fierceness and fire in between them while also keeping a friendliness and clear mutual respect and affection for each other. (like kise's wolfish grin and "you bastard" during the second kaijo v seirin, his glowing eyes and smile when taiga gave his 'this is our story' speech, kise's veiled pep talk to taiga and taiga's “kise...” during yosen v seirin, taiga's panicked frustration for kise during the haizaki game). plus the certain softness taiga has, that i think pairs really well with kise, kise's sensitiveness specifically.

kise + midorima | shin really brings out a seriousness in kise, a sincerity, where it seems kise doesn't feel like he has to put on any masks, be someone he's not, or try to impress shin (which is how it feels often with aomine). they care for each other so subtly, understand and know one another, and have a comfortableness and familiarity with each other thats so quiet, almost feels inherent. a really quiet sort of intimacy, constant and sometimes awkward in how they show affection to each other.

tj calls aokise the worlds strongest pair but i wonder why it wouldn’t be akashi and aomine… is it because akashi’s abilities/play style are more individual focused while kise’s are more malleable… or because of how well aomine and kise know each other and each others basketball style and the chemistry they haven when together
