He whirled on the soft voice come at him from the corner of the roof. He'd been up here all night. the Dogs had not left their bar for the most part so hunting the specific man he needed information out of was just a waiting game.

He carefully lowered his rile with a small half-smile, taking the thermos from her outstretched hand. It was a hot night. He should have planned better.

A smirk crossed his face at her words. Her tone had almost caught him off guard. The mission they got shoved together on went badly, they accomplished what they went there to do. Grab the intel and leave, she needed muscle just in case the thing that happened, happened. They had to fight their way out.

Adrenaline still in their system by the time they got back to the safehouse, they didn't make it very far past the door. All he knew was that his back was against the door and that he wasn't going to argue with the girl still wearing her knives.

He pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it somewhere behind them. "Demanding little princess, aren't you?"

He scoffed with his hand over the slowly leaking wound. "Pro-promise, kid. I'm fine..." The words come out as a hissed whisper. He knew he would be fine...eventually. After he dug the slug out of the hole in his shoulder, anyway. It wasn't vital, just buried itself in the meat under his collarbone. The dumbass firing at them clearly couldn't hit the broad side of a fucking barn.

The pain was making him dizzy, but he knew better than to sit down.

"I'd say I was shocked, but not much does that anymore. That explain why you're on my door step this late? Or were you just in the neighborhood?" He wasn't expecting the heavily accented voice on the other side of his door the second he opened it, but here they were.

He stepped away from the door, gesturing for her to come inside, a slightly confused smile on his face.

How they got into this situation in the first place was a long, complicated story of repeated failures and fuck ups. He wasn't complaining. Being stuck in a broom closet with the lithe assassin wasn't his ideal night... but he wouldn't lie and say it wasn't a good way to spend it.

He had her caged in against a shelf full of cleaning supplies, an arm on either side of her head. His 6'3 built-like-a-tank frame wasn't going to fit comfortably in there even without the company.

"Is that where you expect this to go, sweetheart? Cause I can make that happen. Y'know, after the killing our way out part." A dangerous grin crossed his face, and even he didn't know if he was joking or not.
