That whole day was terrifying. It wasn't anything she expected on their ride out that day, nor did she expect him to take such a harsh slash to his face this way. Some time had spaced between that event to now, but even with her, she felt partially responsible for being slower that day. She would've probably killed Joe if she was faster, but here they were.

Her finger had traced barely along the scar, but pulled her hand away, watching him move and shift a bit, looking away.

"...I wouldn't say that," she said. "I just... I dunno. I keep thinkin' about the day you got that, and... I'm just reminiscing, that's all. I wouldn't call your scar ugly, though. It's... not that bad of one to have. Resistin' death and all, y'know?"

Carmen's werewolf form is a very mixed creature with how much of an animal it is. She was the victim of a monster who ruined her family at a young age, and is stuck with holding that trauma until her supposed "death". During the age of cowboys in the late 19th century, she resorted to that sort of job and has since tried her best to keep the beast in.

The only unfortunate thing is she is a hunted animal. Like the "Wolfman", she is an animal that hunts creatures and acts like an animal; her humanity is nearly long gone besides her personality and what's left under the full moon. However, she still is the wolf in a sense with no control over herself. Her introverted personality makes it much harder for her to socialize with others and make friends, knowing well what her status is as a rabid monster.

Her aliased name when in town is Jackie Marlow, but many sheriffs call her he Red Wolf (due to the reddish fur color / hair color she attains). She will end up visiting England as a stowaway later on in her life to get away, but will end up experiencing the same treatment when she was in America.

tl;dr she is aware as a werewolf and as a human, but more beast-like and reverts to a very animalistic nature and cannot control it.

a couple of body headcanons for Carmen

her werewolf curse has given her a few positives with her body. a couple of those being her nails; they're much thicker and longer than what they used to be. she struggles with gloves often with this since they don't fit her hands properly half of the time.

Carmen has a lot of body hair. not as much to fur, but enough where there's trails of it on her back and stomach. there's enough for a happy trail on the bottom of her belly. her hair has also grown much longer since receiving her curse and often keeps it braided. she trims it often, but it grows back within a couple of days, unfortunately.

the one thing about her curse is the saliva is what causes the infection, not the scratch. teeth (or claws, if they have some saliva on there) can leave open gashes, but specifically during full moons will the saliva have some effect. her teeth are unnaturally sharper compared to a normal human's, having sharper canines and slightly larger sizes in her mouth, which often cause lots of aching.

she salivates much often when she's hungry. this comes up when she's hunting for food, and it pours out of her mouth much too often.

with her body size, she has to consume more food to keep herself healthy after each full moon. because of this, she is often much bigger than most woman she meets and any men she comes across during her hunts. it's intimidating to some, but it's her methods of keeping herself from being torn apart.

She had a lot of thoughts to utter about her best friend. What could she talk about for him? A hand rested against her chin for a moment, thinking for a second of something to say about him.

"...the trust he's got for me about... everything is, well, a lot," she said. "He's one of the few men I've met that... y'know, aren't afraid to kill. Aren't afraid to talk and stand up for themselves. He's the only one who knows about my secret. And, uhm... the only one I can trust if things don't work out in the end.

Carmen is definitely up there for top drinkers. And it's not just because of her curse, but also because she's genetically gained a very high tolerance in her family. An old father in her family line was a previous alcohol brewer, and changed that in her family to be more stronger. If you put her to a drinking contest, she'd win hands down.

Johnny, on the other hand, would win easily in a drinking contest. He's a party man, and would take it unti lhe passes out, which would take a lot out of him to do so. There's only a smll margin of muses who actively drink, and he's one of those. Prepare for him to not lose. At all.
