thoma sings while cleaning! not very loudly, but if he’s alone in his housework it’s pretty frequent for him to start humming or singing a tune, not even realizing he does so sometimes when he’s especially focused on a task. this doesn’t stop him from embarrassment when people catch him, though

thoma has thalassophobia ( fear of deep bodies of water ) as well as a fear of drowning. this doesn’t apply to smaller examples ( pools, hot springs, lakes, anything on the shallow side ), instead affecting him when he’s faced with much deeper ones where he can’t see where it ends, most dauntingly the ocean. this developed after nearly drowning on his trip to inazuma, and is one of the more illogical reasons why he’s apprehensive about returning home ( definitely not his main ones, but the idea still sets off nerves ). though he can handle being nearby, it could make him uneasy, which isn’t always convenient living on an island. overall, he’ll either pretend it isn’t an issue at all or brush it off with a simple comment about not liking deep water much, but the panic that journey instilled in him does still have its effects.
