Já tinha alguns meses desde a sua ida para a nova empresa. Não era ingrata nem nada, e realmente amou o seu tempo no antigo emprego, mas o novo parecia ter sido criado especialmente para ela. O ambiente era acolhedor, humanizado, tinha total autonomia e, para melhorar ainda mais, tinha pessoas ali que ela via estando em um futuro na sua vida, mesmo se um dia saísse da instituição. Realmente, estava vivendo o sonho de carreira, pois ao invés de se sentir triste por ir trabalhar, era ter de parar o trabalho que a fazia ficar triste, mesmo amando estar em casa. "Querido, cheguei!" Falou alto ao adentrar a sua casa, não sabendo se Richard já teria chegado do trabalho ou não. Era costume dela, afinal, avisá-lo desde o início do casamento. Mas não se deu muito ao trabalho de procurá-lo, apenas jogando sua bolsa na mesinha perto a porta, pegando apenas o celular para agradecer ao time pela semana. Retirou os saltos sem muito se importar de arrumá-lo e logo rumava para o quarto, na intenção de tomar um banho relaxante e quem sabe assistir uma série depois. Once, someone had promised him freedom — a place where he could exist without restraint and expectation and the weight of his father’s wishes. This had been a great deception, perhaps the greatest.       Somehow, he has maintained the ability to find good in most situations. An unstable environment at home has made him resourceful  — he often chaperones field trips, and volunteers for after-school clubs, and because of this, he’s gotten to know his students and their bright, creative minds. Because of them, he has hope for the world  — they are the rainbow after the storm, and perhaps he was never meant to be the sun  — but to lead others into the light. He is all right with this. His spirit never dampens outwardly, which is why he’s considerably surprised when Levi sees right through him  — not once, but again and again.

      If he had to speak on it — he’d say that maybe Levi’s offer comes from nowhere at all. They dance around each other — the literature teacher and the music teacher, who seem to overlap in so many ways. He’s left to wonder what gives him away — whether he’s not covered the bruises well enough, or whether he’s been missed at faculty lunches, or whether he perhaps smiles too much — stays behind with the students at every chance he can muster. He’s lucky enough to be here, after all, even if his pay goes directly to his — whatever it is that Stéphane considers himself to be these days — as an offset to his ‘care’. That’s fine. He wants for little enough, when all is said and done.

      He glances down at his hands — the only piece of him that isn’t soft and delicate — but worn from his craft. Golden curls spill in front of his eyes, and he offers a watery smile — “That’s very kind — but I’m quite all right.” If he closes his eyes, he can still see Stéphane ambling toward him like a jumpscare in a movie. “I’m just a little tired today, that’s all.”

┊ ┊ ┊ ┊ ♚ . *. ⋆ ❝ 𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞. of course , he can be quite scary at times , so i often don't find myself approaching him unless he's in a 𝙶𝙾𝙾𝙳 𝙼𝙾𝙾𝙳 , but he always looks out for the rest of us and tries to take whatever weight is off our shoulders. mammon is just a 𝚐𝚛𝚎𝚎𝚍𝚢 𝚊𝚜𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚕𝚎 and always tries to 𝚊𝚗𝚗𝚘𝚢 me , but i can't help but be impressed with his ability to empathize and connect with others. they're both traits i sure wish i had. then there's satan , who also 𝚂𝙲𝙰𝚁𝙴𝚂 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙷𝙴𝙻𝙻 𝙾𝚄𝚃 𝙾𝙵 𝙼𝙴 on some occasions but is wicked smart and a great tutor. asmo's narcissism is often extremely annoying to me , but i wish i could be as 𝚐𝚕𝚎𝚎𝚏𝚞𝚕𝚕𝚢 𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚏-𝚕𝚘𝚟𝚒𝚗𝚐 as them. he's also 𝚂𝙾𝙲𝙸𝙰𝙱𝙻𝙴 𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝙺𝙸𝙽𝙳 and in my experience knows when enough is enough , which i wish i knew how to do. beels' appetite is huge and has cost me a lot of limited edition fandom-related treats , but he has an 𝙴𝚀𝚄𝙰𝙻𝙻𝚈 𝙷𝚄𝙶𝙴 𝙷𝙴𝙰𝚁𝚃. he's usually the first one to comfort me and make me feel loved when something goes wrong , even if he is 𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚒𝚕𝚢 𝚍𝚒𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚋𝚕𝚎. and out of all my brothers , i can probably tolerate belphie the most. he's quiet and doesn't make a 𝙷𝚄𝙶𝙴 𝚂𝙲𝙴𝙽𝙴 when i'm trying to focus on my games. i usually let him observe or sleep in my room when he's trying to find a quiet place to rest. ❞
