How about Tav being a single mother (the father was either abusive or he walked out on them when she became pregnant)

She didn't tell the party at first for fear of judgment but also because she didn't want the absolute cult or ballast to find out and take them so it was a shock to them all.

The kids are not that old, maybe 6-7 months but instantly take a shine to Astarion and want to be held by him and the baby babbles to him

He's apprehensive but seeing Tav with a baby sets his cold heart aflutter

I can see Astarion going from holding them at arm's length to "I've only known them for a day and a half but if anything happens to them, I'll kill everyone in this room" while wearing a papoose

Karlach calling them little soldiers would be cute af as well 🥺
