the door is opened to a straight faced seth , in front of him with his hands resting atop it is a new gaming chair - already built and ready to be used . ❛ we were hosting an event for online gaming last week - they left me one of these ... said i looked like a gamer ... ❜ he is unamused as he leans forward ❛ i have never played a game in my life .❜ now that's an exaggeration - ❛ regardless , i thought of you , eiji . happy valentines day . ❜

when seth texted he was coming over with a gift, he expected the chef to show up with food from the resturant. or to prank him for spending the day ALONE by hiring some rent-a-girlfriend to wish him happy valentine's day. what he didn't expect was to see seth holding onto a gaming chair. and one that was already built-- now he wished he had access to the cctvs to see his friend wheeling the chair all over the place.

bringing a hand up to feign a cough, he TRIED his best to hold back his laughter at the unamused look on seth's face at being called a gamer. "i don't know, maybe if you gave overcooked a chance without saying this isn't how a kitchen works.. you would be a gamer." though with how much of a perfectionist seth was, maybe it was for the best that they didn't play games together. he didn't need to give seth ANOTHER reason to call him an idiot sandwich.

and as much as he wanted to take a picture to COMMEMORATE seth's displeasure with the gamer chair, he reached forward to free his friend from his misery and pull the chair inside. "thanks for thinking about me on this fourteenth day of february seth, how many chocolates.. equals a gamer chair for white day..?" if he started buying now, maybe he'll have enough chocolates to repay seth for his gamer chair journey.

Akane comes over to Eiji's place with a bag full of chocolate. "There's so much! I can't eat all of it so I'm giving some to you. I got some peanut butter treats for the dogs too."

he liked to JOKE that one of the perks of being friends with akane was she didn't eat very much. and while that was great for him whenever they visited a cafe for her instagram updates-- today was not great for him. the bag looked like it was going to BURST with all the chocolate she managed to collect. ".. i'm going to be eating valentine chocolates until christmas --" and maybe he was EXAGGERATING, but there is no way one person would be able to finish that amount.

now he felt a little FOOLISH buying someone like her chocolates. especially if it meant adding to her growing pile of chocolates from her fans. maybe he should get her something else-- but before he could continue thinking about that, the mention of treats caused CHAOS behind his door. how lucky for him he thought while pushing the box of chocolates back into his jacket pocket. he'll just gift her something different for white day. despite the look of disbelief on his face, internally he was AGREEING with her. after all, it simply made sense. but unfortunately for him, crying would not suit his image. or whatever image he THOUGHT he created for himself. "well.. as long as losing games doesn't make you cry.." one, because she was SURE to cry if she ever played co-op with him. and two, he did not want to be associated with bullying the idol for some absurd reason her fans would make up to destroy his career. "is that why you always look so misty eyed in interviews.. ? i always assumed it was just from the lighting." no one ever spoke about it, but he's CERTAIN idol training involved staring at bright lights to prepare them for all the camera flashes and bright lights.

Oh, for sure, Eiji gets a headbutt. He probably asked her for a kiss, and whether he was joking or not, the result was the same; a fake-out. Tem pretending to agree (though not convincingly, so falling for it is really on him), and then cracking their skulls together at the stroe of midnight rather than their lips.

RIP Eiji. Welcome to 2024.

it's STUPID of him to suggest a new years kiss. even if it was a joke. after all, there was no way tem green would entertain the idea. and yet, here she was. leaning forward as the clock was nearing midnight. maybe it was the effect of the muffled countdown on the tv. or maybe she just pitied his explanation of why he wanted a new year kiss. but either way, this was NOT what he was expecting to end 2023 with.

he hates that the sudden CLOSE proximity makes him freeze like some middle schooler dealing with a first crush. especially around tem since he KNOWS she'll never let him live it down. but he lets the new years blues get the best of him and closes his eyes.

@tvrningout chiyo taps at eiji's window, sheepishly wiggling her fingers in greeting once he spots her. as injured as she is, the sight is still a little comical; if it didn't hurt so much, she'd laugh at the fact that she falls into his room rather than gracefully climbing in like she intended. " sorry to drop in like this, " she weakly jokes from the floor as she pulls her mempo off ( is it just her, or is it hard to breathe? ). she hesitates with her mask, instead leaning against the wall and hissing when she jostles the wound upon her waist. oh, this sucks. the tapping on his window and sheepish greeting CAUGHT him off guard. sure, she had rescued him a few more times since their first meeting and they exchanged their usual banter and puns. but they weren't THAT close enough. and he can't remember SHARING his address with her. hell-- he barely shared his address and only a FEW classmates and the class rep knew.

so how did she know which apartment was his--? unless it really was HER?

but he'll ask about that later. for now, there were more PRESSING matters that needed his attention. like her hidden injuries causing her to hiss every time she adjusted her position to find SOME relief against his wall. "well..i'd hate to see the other guy." he joked lightly, quickly shuffling through his drawers to find the first-aid kit he NEVER thought he'd use. and even if he did find it. it probably won't have what he needed to help her aside from some bandages and pain meds.

"hey.. don't fall asleep on me yet because.." because what? he didn't want to be responsible for killing off a hero? or because he didn't want to lose another FRIEND? "i don't think i know enough about first aid to help you.." he began slowly, attention shifting to her form and then back to the mess he created while trying but FAILING to find the kit.
