"no! that is not the case at all!" he found himself reacting pretty quickly, eager to settle any misunderstanding about the situation. he couldn't believe himself, letting his own brooding bother a student like this. "i just... well, you look a lot like an old friend of mine. that's why i was surprised to see you." he sighs and shakes his head. perhaps he was revealing too much about himself, but he'd rather there not any chance of lingering misunderstandings.
"-my point is, you're not bothering me at all. actually as a knight of seiros i probably shouldn't say this but-" he took a quick glance around to make sure no one was listening then lowered his voice a bit just to be sure. "it was getting boring just standing around here seeing as nothing is really happening." he then raised his voice back to normal levels. "so, a spar with you would be very welcome- if you're still up for it that is."

⚔️ "Would you show me some of your skills sir?"
the trip was still largely a break for him, but it was pretty much an unsaid statement that the knights of seiros were still needed to supervise in case anything bad were to happen. sigurd undoubtedly knew that many of the students here could handle themselves, but he wasn't opposed to doing so in the slim chance something actually went wrong.
so, he stood idly outside the lodge, stance somewhat slack due to the fact that he'd been there for a little while now. hearing the voice of what he presumed was a student, he turned his attention to it. he blinked and stared for a moment, trying to process the sight of a younger and very much alive eldigan.
no, he.... he knew that eldigan was dead. it was not like the rest of his army who he did not know the fates of, eldigan was....... well, sigurd still remembered personally hearing the news that eldigan had been executed. how in naga's name was this even possible?
he opened his mouth once, twice, unsure what to say. what had he originally even asked? his brain was still stuck processing the fact that this student looked so much like eldigan back during their academy days. realizing that he'd basically just been silently staring at a student who had asked him a question, he forced himself more alert and stood up more properly. maybe there was a chance that this wasn't even eldigan, and his brain was just tricking him into things. that seemed far more the proper explanation. it took him a second to remember what he'd been asked.
"m-my apologies. you wanted to see my swordsmanship..?" he finally forced out. he just needed to act normal. didn't need to scare off a student just because he looked so much like his friend who'd been executed because of him.
... right. that's a lot harder than it sounds.
