@drapctis ► to achilles
« i couldn’t help but notice that you seemed lost in your thoughts. »
He blinks, confused. A little shocked, even, by the fact that he barely noticed the young prince approaching him.
It’s always the same, whenever anyone from the Trojan war showed up in the House of Hades, either under the God’s orders or for simply paying a visit. Ulysses kept insisting that he got lost, but everyone knew better, when it came to him.
That day, Hector was called in.
They barely exchanged a look, a quick nod to greet eachother, and then went to their merry ways... and from that moment, the hero just stood there.
In his place. In silence. Lost in his memories, in what used to be a life of glory, pride and joy, but also of blood and anger. A life ended before he could fully grow, before he could understand where that path would lead him.
At least, until the prince broke the silence.
Just then he returns to the present, still taking a few seconds to take a deep breath and relax the grip on his spear before turning towards him, offering one of his usual kind smiles.
“It’s nothing, lad. I was simply reminiscing.”

He can’t help but let out a small chuckle at that.
Sure, why not. At least he could excuse that break and pretend it was nothing but exercise, this time.
“Funny, I was just about to tell you the same.” Achilles smiles, seemingly as calm as he could be. “Besides, I want to be sure you can deal with the other Shades around Elysium... and that you didn’t get too relaxed, around here.
After you, Patroclus.”

« this may sound strange, but… have i somehow changed? » from zag to achilles
“Hm... an interesting question, lad.”
Why, yes. He saw a change in the young prince in the past few days. He saw him growing up, getting a little more mature, a little more openly selfless towards the fellow residents of the House.
Maybe, a little more respectful for the Shades forced to work under his father, too, or ready to take the chance of doing something for the good of other,s too.
...but what kind of teacher would he be, if he spelled it out for him?
No, no. He’d much rather remain vague, see what Zagreus has to say about it.
“Do you feel like you changed in some way?”

₪ - For a kink.
He takes a second to clear his throat, chuckling a little nervously.
Or, perhaps, he’s just a little embarassed?
“I don’t mind a little bit of competitiveness, before doing anything. A little bit of wrestling to sweat a little.”
Or decide who tops.

[i like to imagine Achilles being incredibly upset upon his death. Like the anger that brought him back on the battlefield and accompanied him during his battle with Hector couldn’t fade even as he was struck down.
He died grieving and enraged, and with grief and rage he arrived in the Hades.
The Gods tried to talk it out with Hades to bring him up in the Olympus at some point, but Achilles himself refused. He felt betrayed by each one of them, and even as he was riding Charon’s boat he was shaking.
I’m not saying he destroyed part of Elysium and made his way from up there to the House of Hades by himself at some point, but uh. Y’know.]

Achilles, do you regret not doing something in life before you died?
“...no. Not really.
If anything... there’s plenty I regret doing.”
