PANG TONG INFO (redux)
                 OVERVIEW
NAME: pang tong ALIAS(S): the fledgling phoenix OCCUPATION: strategist, sorcerer, supernatural hunter (occasionally) AGE: immortal, biologically mid-late twenties. SPECIES: aberrant transcendent (demonic) EYES: green HAIR: dark green HEIGHT: 165cm (5'4") WEIGHT: 180 lbs (81 kg) ALIGNMENT: chaotic neutral (at best)
                 PERSONALITY
At times nihilistic, smug, flippant, smarmy, sarcastic, or snarky, Tong is a genius who always speaks his mind, while also being a very casual, laid back person who often maintains a very calm demeanor regardless of the situation at hand. On the surface Tong's nature can be quite a disarming trait at times, but one should be wary to let their guard down around him, since his ever so casual demeanor can be downright deceiving, as he’s completely capable and willing to commit ruthless and (at times) horrifying acts to bring down his foes or otherwise achieve success in his pursuits, all with that same casual attitude in tow. That’s because at his core, Tong is ruthless, a ruthless pragmatist to be exact, and while he may not be proud of or happy with what he sometimes does, there’s almost nothing he won’t do to achieve victory, especially if he thinks it will bring the land / world closer to true peace.
That said, while Tong may still act quite casual and can still be a sarcastic bastard around friends, family, and loved ones from time to time, he will spare such people any malice (provided they don’t stab him in the back), and can actually be very caring, protective, thoughtful, and all around softer toward them, in his own way.
On account of his extremely casual nature, he’s been called lazy, and a slacker, and while he can indeed be lazy (you’ll seldom meet someone who naps as much as he does), to say he gets nothing done would be a lie– Tong always gets his work done, often outdoing expectations by a long shot to boot, he just takes things at his own pace, slow and haphazard as that can be.
The same can be said for Tong’s seeking of thrills– those who don’t know Tong may think he never let’s loose, but those who do will know he’s a little playful in his own way (flirtatious even under the right circumstances), and has plenty of fun with life, especially when alcohol or related substances are involved, or when clashing against his opponents. To that end , humour is not in short supply with Tong, either, though it’s usually of the dry, sardonic, and / or mocking sort, depending on who he’s talking to.
However, for all Tong’s cool and composure, he has moments of doubt and piles of insecurities and fears and pains just like most people do– despite everything, he’s still human at his core (even if his true nature is now more complicated thanks to his Contract) and has the emotions to match, meaning his calm, casual nature can sometimes be thought of as a facade, but you may never know that if you never grow close enough to him, since unsurprisingly, he’s not big on opening up to people.
                 STORY
Pang Tong, styled Shiyuan, and better known as the “Fledgling Phoenix”, is a genius strategist, and masterful sorcerer of Eastern Han China. Tong was raised by his foster father Sima Hui (a mystic and founder of the secretive order of the Eight Enigma’s) after Tong’s parents and uncle met an unfortunate end following one of many upheavals during the twilight years of the Han Dynasty. Tong’s genius and aptitude for magic was noticed early on, and under Sima Hui’s guidance, he was molded into one of China’s greatest minds and fiercest wielders of magic. It wasn’t long before Tong was outperforming seasoned minds and sorcerers alike in matters of strategy and spell casting, and soon enough, he would join his foster father’s order, where his prowess would only continue to grow.
By age twenty one, in recognition for his genius and magical ability, Tong would receive the title of “Fledgling Phoenix”, one of the only two titles to be held within the Eight Enigma’s, marking him as an equal to his fellow Enigma, Zhuge Liang, the “Crouching Dragon”, who was said to be the brightest mind and most powerful sorcerer to grace China in ages.
Some years after achieving his title, Tong would delve deeply into the more arcane sides of magic, where he would end up (in yet another feat of his genius and magical ability) tricking a demonic entity into forging a contract with him, an act that would afford him great power, though strain his social status considerably on account of the markings that ended up on his face.
In time, however, Tong, along with the other Enigma’s, would eventually set out into the world seeking worthy lords to serve, lords they felt were best equipped to bring peace to the war torn, disease ridden, destitute hell hole their country had devolved into. Tong would go on to ply his services as a strategist and sorcerer to a number of lords, but all, save for two, ultimately turned Tong away due to his appearance, those two lord’s being Liu Chong, the prince of Chen, and then later, Liu Bei, the future Emperor of Shu.
Tong quite enjoyed his service under Liu Chong, and saw great potential in their ability to lead and bring people together– Tong saw China’s future in the prince, and would have done anything to see them succeed, but due to the machinations of a fellow Enigma, Liu Chong ended up being the victim of an assassination plot. Though he mourned his fallen lord, Tong once again resumed his search, meeting a number of interesting individuals as he wandered the land, and getting into a number of even more interesting situations, but it would be with Liu Bei who Tong next found service, seeing within them many of the same qualities he saw in Liu Chong, and it would be under Liu Bei where Tong would finally begin to spread his wings…..
Skills, powers, abilities, & more
The Fledgling Phoenix - Genius Intellect, Master Sorcerer
Tong is known by his title “Fledgling Phoenix”, one of two titles conferred upon the best of the Eight Enigma’s, the other title being held by Zhuge Liang (Crouching Dragon). A title such as Tong’s was not given for show, he received it on account of his genius-level intellect, and his masterful aptitude with magic, intellect and prowess that are only rivaled (within the Eight Enigma’s) by Zhuge Liang’s.
Tong in particular is great at devising complicated chained stratagems and laying traps of all kinds, as well as using binding magics, and sealing magics, though he has a masterful grasp with all manners of strategy and most other forms magic alike (even if he prefers those of the darker nature).
Tong is perhaps best known for his use of elemental magic as well, specifically that of the air / wind element, though that is more the result of him tricking an entity into forming a contract with him than it has to do with his own magical aptitude, though it may have also been another mark of his intelligence, on account of how he pulled it off…
Contract - Invocation of Fengbo
Tong possesses a “contract” with the fallen wind god Fengbo, who’s power Tong can call upon whenever he wishes. The grim markings upon Tong’s face are both a result and proof of this contract, and are the conduits from which the contract functions.
In truth, the “contract” Tong has with Fengbo is one in name only, since the fallen deity was tricked into entering it by a crafty Tong many years ago, ending up bound to Tong’s will as if they were a familiar.
Fengbo themselves may be a fallen god, but their power is still that of a deity, and when Tong calls upon them and has that power shroud his body and soul, he is a right, terrible force of nature that can easily make quick work of foes or perform feats of that no mortal could ever hope to achieve.
When Tong invokes Fengbo’s true power, their spiritual power emerges from the markings on his face, enveloping Tong’s being in a corrupted aura that turns them into a nearly incorporeal, wraith-like figure– a projection of Fengbo’s corrupted form.
Elemental Authority: Air / Wind: One of the chief abilities afforded to Tong when he calls upon Fengbo’s true power, it gives him complete magical control over the element of air, giving him access to a wide breadth of tactics and powerful techniques that otherwise wouldn’t be possible for him to achieve on his own. Even when Tong has not invoked Fengbo’s power, his baser wind / air magic still receives a passive boost to its’ effectiveness.
Immortality (Biological): A passive effect conferred upon Tong through his contract with Fengbo, his lifespan has been extended indefinitely provided he doesn’t sustain a level of physical or magical damage to his heart that’s great enough to kill him.
Enhanced Physiology : While Fengbo’s true power has enveloped him, the basic trait’s Tong possesses (physical strength, speed, agility, durability, etc) are enhanced to superhuman levels. Passively, thanks to the contract, Tong’s basic traits are always somewhat enhanced though, but without the invoking of Fengbo’s true power, they are on the far lower side of superhuman (perhaps peak human at best with certain traits).
Enhanced Regeneration: Passively, Thanks to Tong’s contract with Fengbo, he is afforded an enhanced regenerative factor, being able to heal wounds and restore lost limbs at a nearly instant rate ( with the exception that his heart is less regenerative). However, when Fengbo’s true power is invoked, this regenerative factor becomes null on account of Tong’s body becoming nearly incorporeal (allowing him to simply reform parts of his body at will since it’s all comprised of air anyway, save for his heart).
Supernatural Pain Tolerance: Another passive boon afforded to Tong through his contract with Fengbo, his tolerance for pain is now inhuman. However, when invoking Fengbo’s true power, this pain tolerance, like Tong’s regenerative factor, becomes null on account of his nigh-incorporeal nature, since he can’t feel pain in such a state regardless, unless you nail him in the heart.
Magic Resistance: After invoking Fengbo and their true power, Tong becomes very resistant (though not immune) to magic employed by non-deities, though when faced with magic from a deity or a divine source, this resistance does not apply. Tong is also afforded a lesser version of this resistance in the passive sense, when Fengbo’s true power is not being invoked.
Magical Enhancement: While Fengbo’s true power is flowing through Tong, the power behind other magics Tong employs is increased to great extents. The amount of spells that Tong is able to use is also extended to extreme levels that outstrip even his already great magical reserves many times over.
Affliction Purge: Upon invoking Fengbo’s true power, any afflictions Tong may have incurred prior– poisons, curses, and the like– are purged from his body and soul, provided they aren’t from a divine being or source.
Divine Words: When invoking Fengbo’s true power, Tong becomes capable of performing all spells and rituals at truly instant speed, and at full power to boot.
Avatar of Fengbo - Demonic Fenghuang: In exchange for Tong deciding to forego the use of Fengbo’s power directly, he can instead call upon an avatar of the fallen god resembling their true form, a massive demonic fenghuang-like entity that Tong can command to fight his enemies. This avatar’s power is great, and it’s mere presence can cause weaker willed opponents to collapse on the spot, and put others under immense strain, though the longer it is active, the less stable it becomes– if active for too long, it can go berserk, becoming a threat to even Tong himself if he’s not careful.
Weakness - Irregular Contract: Due to Tong’s contract with Fengbo being made under false pretenses and completed without a true cost being paid on Tong’s part, he’s only able to invoke Fengbo’s true power for brief periods of time (usually around twenty or thirty minutes, maybe a little more if he’s using certain techniques), and cannot instantly invoke the power again without causing serious damage to himself.
To further explain, because of Tong not paying for his contract with Fengbo when it was made, his soul takes damage each time he invokes their true power, and while this damage does in a sense heal, sustaining too much of it in a short period of time (i.e, Tong trying to invoke Fengbo’s power multiple times in say, an hour) doesn’t just run the risk of killing him, but it may also allow Fengbo to possess his body and make Tong the one locked inside.
High-Speed Incantations
Tong, like many in the Eight Enigma (besides Guo Jia who possesses a unique variation of this skill), is capable of reciting the incantations for spells of all types at extremely high speeds, allowing him to almost instantly cast spells of all tiers at full power, even those that would otherwise take someone much longer to perform due to long, drawn out incantations. Complicated rituals may still take Tong some time to perform, but he can generally unleash full powered spells at a much quicker rate than most magic users.
Supernatural Expertise
Within the Eight Enigma’s, each member had a specific role, and Tong’s role within the Enigma’s was the study and handling of supernatural entities or supernatural phenomena in general.
It should be noted that every Enigma was used to dealing with supernatural phenomena or beings, Tong wasn’t special in that regard, but in contrast to the others, he, over the years, had amassed encyclopedic knowledge and understanding of his homeland’s supernatural creatures, entities, and occult knowledge, and he was the one the other Enigma’s turned to for guidance or help when faced with such things when troublesome enough. Tong was only assigned to this position, however, after successfully tricking and binding the fallen deity Fengbo to his soul, a feat that truly put his expertise in this area on full display.
Jiǎolì Expert
A form of hand-to-hand combat that involves the use of strikes, throws, joint manipulation, and pressure point attacks. At first glance it resembles wrestling, but this art puts great emphasis on the speed of its user and their ability to locate and disable a foe via the weakest points of their body– in essence it’s not a very honorable way to fight, but it is very effective, and Tong is learned enough in it’s ways to be a threat should a fight end up getting close and personal with him.
EQUIPMENT, AND OTHER NOTES.
Weaponry: Artefacts
Tong employs the use of a wide variety of magical staves as his main form of weaponry, with each stave serving a particular purpose but all of them more or less aiding him in the casting of magic. Tong’s most notable staves are the Great Phoenix, a bladed Artefact which enhances Tong’s air / wind elemental magic, stacking nicely with his boost from Fengbo’s powers (while also just being a decent melee weapon that Tong is expertly competent with), and the Staff of Mirages, an Artefact that enhances the use of illusionary magic, while also affording its user a number of unique illusions to employ against foes.
Visage of the Enigma
The hat and mask Tong is often seen wearing, they were crafted for him by Sima Hui, and each of the Eight Enigma’s was made to wear them for a time. Many Enigma’s did away with these items once they felt it was no longer necessary to hide their identities, but Tong always kept his around, and prefers wearing it when around people he doesn’t yet know-- not to mention that he has enchanted it with a small barrier, giving it some degree of utility.
Tome: The Scripture of Master Lao
During Tong’s travels following Liu Chong’s death, he encountered a bizarre, emerald-eyed mystic who proceeded to put him through a number of even more bizarre trials, and at the end, the man revealed themselves to be Master Lao (known also as Zhuangzi), an immortal, who then bestowed upon Tong a magical tome.
The tome in question takes the form of a scroll that, when unrolled, reveals ancient magical knowledge to it’s user, allowing them the use of many unique spells. The tome speaks of arcane knowledge from a time when Gods still openly walked the land, and is best used when in the hands of someone of ‘pure heart'. Since Tong is not a person of such aforementioned purity, the tome is not as effective as it can be when used by him, but it can still prove to be a valuable tool at times, giving him access to spells and knowledge he would never have access to otherwise, hence why he keeps it around.
Familiars
Outside of the strange situation Tong has going with Fengbo, he also has a number of familiars bound to his will that he can call upon to defend or otherwise aid him whenever he wishes.
Most of his Familiars aren’t particularly notable, being entities that Tong defeated and then bound afterward, but they are dangerous entities nonetheless, and can spell trouble for opponents they are set upon, if those opponents are not careful. The few notable Familiars that Tong does have in his arsenal, however, are truly terrifying, and will stand out from the others.
All in all though, Tong's Familiars can range from grotesque, possessed beasts (bears, tigers, boars), giant insectoid creatures, possessed corpses like Jiangshi, Demonic spirits / creatures in general, or Eldritch creatures that defy normal classification.

Animal Association, and other notes.
preface to this, I just want to say that I am an idiot and am in no way an expert on terminology or chinese history / mythology I'm just talking about something for the sake of this blog!!! just saying in case someone casually comes across this in the tumblr tags and wants to 'UM ACTUALLY' @ me JHSDFGHJDFGHJSDFGHJS
anyway
Phoenix's in western culture are often depicted as supernatural, giant fire birds that are reborn from their own ashes after they die, and while the Fenghuang is often called a Phoenix too, its similairties with the western Phoenix are really superficial at best. Yes, they are both giant, supernatural, celestial birds, but thats about it-- the Chinese Vermilion Bird, or Zhuque, honestly has way more in common with the Phoenix's of the western world (both being giant, immortal fire birds JSHDFGSJGHF), but moving on...
Pang Tong is well known as the 'Fledgling Phoenix', but the 'Phoenix' being referred to here is obviously his homelands counterpart, the Fenghuang, King of all Birds, and not the fire birds of western myth. The Fenghuang possesses a form that reflects the celestial bodies; it's head represents the sky, it's eyes the sun, it's back the moon, it's wings the wind, it's feet the earth, and it's tail the planets. In truth, apart from it's bird-like head and wings, the Fenghuang is more of a chimera, with its other body parts taking the forms of other animals.
As a whole, the Fenghuang is seen as a positive being, a symbol of the union between yin and yang, and also a symbol of virtue, grace, justice, and intelligence-- in regards to the latter it's said that individual's who are highly intelligent may have been born with the Fenghuang's protection, and this is why Tong received the title 'Fledgling Phoenix' from his master Sima Hui, he was, at the time, young, and his intelligence was recognized as being something that could only be the result of a Fenghuang's protection. The fact that Tong then later went on to contract with a being that was also Fenghuang-like was just a nice coincidence, but it too does feed into his whole 'Phoenix' thing.
......... ANNNYYYWAYYY though I just wanted to clarify that, when 'Phoenix' is used in regards to Tong, be it his title or anything else, it's really referring to the Fenghuang!! Not the fire bird.

local simp screams about a simp with a front mullet and flip-flops
i have become the very thing i swore to destroy
bold of any of you hypothetical readers to assume these will be coherent lol
@lilikags! you said you wanted to be tagged in this abomination of a post when i mentioned possibly making it, so here it is!
anyway, basar thoughts. dear god.
okay look there is no way in hell that basar doesn't have at least some knowledge or chemistry. maybe i'm a brainlet and don't know how poison works, but come on. there are at least some spicy chemical things happening there.
honestly basar's lore literally being about him selling both poison and explosives is under-utilized from what i've seen but i might be wrong on that though lol feel free to roast me if i am
basar probably speaks a lingua franca or two, along with bits and pieces of other languages he's picked up over the years. he's a merchant, so he's probably met a whole lot of different people in his time, right?
the man probably switches between languages when talking to people if he's tired enough
basar's ability to cook may be somewhat lacking, given that he seems to have been pretty wealthy for most of his life. he probably just pays someone to cook for him or goes to bougie restaurants.
i'm just gonna assume bastet, aka basar's ridiculously jacked feline, is some sort of familiar? it would explain why her eyes coordinate with his anyway, and how basar can legally own a literal cougar.
we need more bastet content please smilegate this is very important
the only plausible reason i can think of for why basar has a front mullet is that maybe his hair went white in the front before the rest of it, and once the back grew out some more he just chopped it and left the front intact because he got too used to it or thought he looked weird without hair framing his face???
or he just grew it out for the meme or to have an excuse to wear more jewelry
he probably does have a lot of jewelry to begin with, really. he definitely mostly wears gold.
i dunk on him for his haircut frequently but i'm too used to seeing him with his sidetails, so him without them would look even more cursed
basar with no brim
seriously how old even is this man? like he's obviously old enough for his hair to have turned white but not old enough to be an actual geezer. i'd place him somewhere between mid-life crisis and nursing home, so like maybe around 50?
anyway this pissbaby is probably unreasonably tall too, like around 6'3" or something. a being like him needs a large vessel to hold such a large ego, clearly.
basar has probably done a bunch of quasi-illegal things in his youth and weaseled his way out of the consequences because he bribed people, maybe.
i don't know but dj basar has horny stoner fratboy vibes so he'd totally do that
have i mentioned how much i dislike dj basar's vibes yet? because they are a t r o c i o u s
i mean, obviously some character development happened there in comparison to regular basar, but that doesn't stop me from disliking him lmao
basar/mui is such a cursed ship and i do not like the weird bdsm subtext it has. also, what the hell else is mui gonna do to him? pat him on the head and call him a good boy? i don't even think that's even super out of character for her, either.
uhh what else
basar is overprotective of his kids but honestly? i would be too if i found out my daughter was literally going to a place with "death" in the name. it's like that one ominously-named place pang tong died at in romance of the three kingdoms, except that was directly named "valley of the fallen phoenix." for context, pang tong was nicknamed "fledgling phoenix." lmao i don't know why i remember this but i do
what is silk to basar, anyway? i feel like i've seen her call him her adoptive father, but he's never acknowledged her as a daughter from what i remember? i don't know lol but i like to think of basar, silk, and rin as being one family.
that is the one wholesome headcanon on this godforsaken post i swear to god
this incoherent post is getting far too long, so i'll just shut up here lmao
we're ending on a positive note! i guess! maybe!
idk man hopefully this post was entertaining in some way
if not, leave me your thoughts, prayers, and bad metaphorical yelp reviews in a reply or reblog lol

So I was thinking a bit about Pang Tong (don't ask about why my brain picks on characters at random, it just does)
I remember that the DW games don't actually tell you much about him, other than that he's an old friend of Zhuge Liang's that covers up his face (apparently because he's ugly as hell) that has the title of "Fledgling Phoenix" that kind of just shows up randomly (around the time of the western campaign I think) just to die not that long after
Watching ROTK 2010 made his novel character make so much sense. Liu Bei had known about "Fledgling Phoenix" for awhile bc of Water Mirror, but when Pang Tong appeared before them he was dismissed purely for his looks and was given a low level administration job, which he didn't do out of spite
When someone was sent after him because nothing was getting done, he managed to complete months of work in a day and Liu Bei got smacked in the face with his prejudices (as anyone should that judges someone for something like that)
When it came time for the Riverlands campaign, Liu Bei lamented having no justification to attack Liu Zhang because he'd previously been generous, plus they were apart of the same clan
I don't remember the name of the one guy that continually advocated for Liu Bei against the rest of his colleagues (though because he wanted to betray Liu Zhang), but Pang Tong promised to create a justification for Liu Bei's war, so he sold out the traitor and also got himself killed on purpose at Fallen Phoenix Hill, which he remarked was a fitting name, and basically planned for Liu Bei to use him and the already sewn discord to go on with his Riverlands conquest
In DW none of the above is mentioned and Pang Tong's death is primarily portrayed as an accident and he was simply surprise ambushed and that it's just another one of those things that happens during war
Of course things have to be simplified for the games, but I feel like more depth could've been given to his DW character than just some weird mystery dude that dies an unfortunate death
Though I could be wrong about all this, I haven't touched a DW game in some time, not even mentioning his historical version
But it was just something I was thinking about since I never really knew anything about who Pang Tong was before I watched the show outside of being the Fledgling Phoenix and dying during the battle of Chengdu (or the Riverlands campaign if we're talking about the show)

Ravages chatting #544.3
Minion: The imperial uncle [Liu Bei] finally turned his luck upside down, proving the legend of the crouching dragon [Zhuge Liang] and fledgling phoenix [Pang Tong].
Huang Kui: Winning Jingzhou without any casualties. It certainly rivals the spectacle of Zhou Yu making a fool of Cao Cao twice in a row.
Minion: Cao Cao might have lost, but the rest of his main force still exists. The logistics of supporting them is the most important issue.

So I Found All the Characters With Unique Backstories

TONG VERSES
(note: extra info links on this post arent yet mobile friendly… working on that!!! sorry!!)
A LAND IN CHAOS (BASE VERSE, FANDOMLESS)
The year is 208 A.D, and Pang Tong, a genius and sorcerer of Eastern Han China known as the “Fledgling Phoenix”, has entered into service under the up and coming warlord Liu Bei, serving alongside his fellow Enigma, Zhuge Liang, as one of the warlord’s strategists, and mages. In comparison to his fellow Enigma Liang, Tong acts as the devil on Liu Bei’s shoulder, the ruthless pragmatist who seeks to help his lord unify the land by any means necessary.
There are a great many obstacles that stand in Liu Bei’s way– to the north, Cao Cao is solidifying their power, and while Pang Tong and Zhuge Liang have worked out an alliance between their lord and the Sun family of the south, even those allies must be closely watched, for if Liu Bei is to unite the land, then ALL must eventually be made to serve him.
Most threatening of all, however, are Tong’s former comrades, the other six Enigma’s, strategists and sorcerer’s of great power, who have also thrown their lot in with either Cao Cao or the Sun family, seemingly forgetting the oath they all took to work together in bringing peace to the land. Regardless, Tong thinks Liu Bei’s chances are pretty good, especially with Zhuge Liang in their service too, even if he and Tong don’t often see eye to eye. Tong see’s the future of China in Liu Bei, and whatever it takes, he’ll see them seated upon the throne as Emperor.
TAKE APART YOUR DEMONS (FANDOMLESS - MODERN!FANTASY)
Tong is a sorcerer and genius, well known as the “Fledgling Phoenix”, who years ago, served a group fighting a war against the criminal empire known as the Wei Conglomerate Association and the vigilantes of the Wu Syndicate for control of China (and what may have eventually been for control of the world). However, with the sudden death of Tong’s leader Liu Chong during the Red Cliff's Incident, and the eventual collapse of the W.C.A’s and Wu Syndicate that later followed, Tong parted ways with his comrades, deciding to strike out on  his own for a while as he searched for another worthy person or group to serve.
On his own, Tong has taken up work as a sort of sorcerer-for-hire, both locally and abroad, dealing with issues of the magical and generally supernatural nature (exorcising spirits, hunting down rogue supernatural creatures, occasionally taking out other sorcerer’s who’ve ticked off the wrong people, etc) in exchange for much needed money (food and intoxicants aren’t gonna just fall into his lap you know), though he does also sometimes solve problems for the sake of restoring order, and maintaining peace (don’t think that always makes him the good guy, though).
Tong also stays in loose contact with a collective of like-minded sorcerer’s and geniuses known as the Eight Enigma’s (a group he has been a part of for quite some time) despite some grievances he still has with them from his days dealing with the Wei Triad and Wu Syndicate, and while progress is slow, he works with his fellow Enigma’s toward achieving true peace for the world, though it’s an understandably slow process, made slower by the fact that Tong is currently not a apart of any major organizations that he could use as a vehicle for getting closer to that goal, but who knows what the future may hold?
THE DEEP / THE DARK (JUJUTSU KAISEN VERSE)
Tong is a “Jujutsu Sorcerer” (or “Curse User” depending on who you ask) originating from China, and is one of the few “Sorcerer’s” from his homeland to have any repute across the Jujutsu World, being known as the “Fledgling Phoenix”. Tong has recently arrived in Japan on a special mission given to him by a group known as the Eight Enigmas, a secretive group of Jujutsu Sorcerer’s that Tong counts himself a member of. Tong’s main mission is to observe, and assist any other Enigma’s who have also been sent to Japan on various tasks, but to say he has no intentions of involving himself in the strange happenings across the land of the rising sun would be a lie…
[EXTRA JJK INFO HERE]
CYCLONES AND BLOOD SOAKED DREAMS (BLEACH VERSE)
Pang Tong is a Kido Master, Hollow-soul Hybrid (a result of experiments in the past), and genius strategist known as the “Fledgling Phoenix”, who belongs to a minor noble family working in tandem with one of the Four Great Noble Families, and currently serves as the Soul Society’s Vice Kidō Chief, having been in the position since Hachigen Ushōda’s discharge more than a century ago. Tong could easily fill the position of Kido Corps Commander if he wished on account of being one of the Soul Society’s greatest Kido practitioners and having served in the Kido Corps for nearly a millennia, but he turned the position down in the past, and has no ambitions to rise any further than he currently is, thinking the Kido Corps current leadership to be fine enough.
Tong also belongs to a secret collective known as the Eight Enigma’s, a group of Kido master’s who try to maintain the balance of peace within the Soul Society, but due to internal struggles, they haven’t been as active lately, and Tong has mostly written them off, especially in light of current events.
Before, Tong didn’t bother much with the rest of the Soul Society outside of the Kido Corps or the Eight Enigma’s machinations, but with the recent troubles that had afflicted the World of the Living, the Soul Society, and Hueco Mundo as of late, he’s taken a more active role (or as active as he can be) in matters.
BEAST OF THE WINDS (DEMON SLAYER VERSE)
“Demons” as they are known in Japan, are not the only immortal, supernatural creatures that stalk the realm of man. There are many beings who prey on the flesh and blood of humans, many twisted creatures who have become the thing of legends, the centers of folklore, and terrors of the night. Across the Sea of Japan, in the various lands of East Asia are an ancient race of these beings known as the Yaoguai (also known as Yaogui, Yaomo, or Yaojing, depending on the type of Yaoguai in question), and it is to this clade that Tong belongs.
Tong, a military strategist and Greater Yaoguai of the Yaogui variety (i.e a former mortal who became a Yaoguai through dark means, shedding all or most of their humanity in the process) known as the “Fledgling Phoenix” or “Beast of the Winds” (depending on who you ask) is the first of his race to set foot in Japan since their extermination at the hands of the land’s native ‘Demons’ nearly 1,000 years ago. Tong has not arrived on the shores of this blighted land on behalf of the Yaoguai, however– he comes as an agent of the Eight Enigma’s, a mysterious group (consisting of both mortals and other Yaoguai) who has set their sights on the events transpiring within Japan between it’s native ‘Demons’ and those who hunt them.
Some within the Eight Enigma’s, Tong included, hope to exploit the worsening conflict between the Demon Slayer’s Corp and their namesake targets, to the point of destabilizing Japan as a whole and ending its Imperialist ambitions overseas, but who’s to say what might happen in the coming months, and years? And who’s to say that Tong won’t take his sweet, lazy time in carrying out his mission, as he’s wont to do….?
[EXTRA DEMON SLAYER INFO]
THE WINDS OF CHANGE (FE: 3H VERSE)
Pang Tong is a foreign sorcerer and strategist from a continent far to the south of Fodlan who ended up stranded on the coast of the Adrestian Empire, and along with his traveling companion, eventually made his way to Garreg Mach Monastery, and the Officer’s Academy. Tong, being from a foreign land, and a powerful user of magic, has naturally faced great suspicion from Fodlan’s natives and the Church of Seiros, but he’s treated as a guest of the Church, and can be found hanging around the monastery (occasionally assisting the Church with various matters, reluctantly most times) or offering advice on magic to the students of the Officer’s Academy. Tong is deeply troubled by the state of Fodlan, however, and even more troubled by the forces that seem to control it, and one day hopes to set things here right, perhaps with the help of those in his homeland, if he can ever find his way back to them…
[EXTRA 3H INFO HERE]
SOARING PHOENIX (FGO VERSE)
Pang Tong (Caster) is the famed “Fledgling Phoenix”, a contemporary and reputed equal to Zhuge Liang. Tong has answered the call of Chaldea’s master and has pledged to aid them in their struggles against Humanity’s various threats, even if he can come off as a bit difficult, and lazy at times. Tong works best when he’s paired with his old friend and rival, Zhuge Liang, but otherwise tries to keep to himself. That said, given the state of Chaldea and his master’s other servants, sometimes he can’t help but interact with others.
[EXTRA FATE INFO]
THE WORST IN TURN (ELDEN RING VERSE)
Tong is a hermetic sorcerer and genius who at one time acted as advisor and preceptor to Queen Marika, being instrumental in their initial rise to power over the Lands Between. Tong was one of eight such legendary advisors and preceptors, collectively known as the ’Eight Enigma’s’, of which he was personally known as the great ’Fledgling Phoenix’, however through the years, his fellows turned on one another in bids to gain more power, and when all was said and done, Tong emerged as the last one standing, fully earning Marika’s trust, and their favour. Following the death of Marika’s son, Godwyn, however, during the Night of Black Knives, Tong’s rapport with the Queen sharply fell, and any further strategy or advice he tried to offer them fell on deaf ears. There was nothing Tong could say or do to stay the Queen’s grief, nor anything he could do to stop the chaos that would soon follow with event known as The Shattering.
With war now raging across the land between Marika’s children, Tong would initially find shelter in the halls of the Academy of Raya Lucaria, but in time, he would make his way back to the Capital, Leyndell, where he would pledge his services to the Omen King, Morgott. Tong’s service as an advisor and preceptor of the sorcerer arts under Morgott is something of a tenuous position, if only because Tong see’s them as the least terrible option among the other leaders in the Lands Between, but he works with them nonetheless, seeing to it that the Capital stands strong against those who try to invade, having already been instrumental in repelling countless attacks by the armies of Morgott’s siblings.
Tong believes, however, that while Morgott, and none of Marika’s children for that matter will ever truly emerge victorious in this war, that out there somewhere is the next Elden Lord, and it’s for that person he waits– to help guide them to their destiny, and bring true peace back to the Lands Between, one way or the other.

Conversation
Ravages chatting #543.2 (in theory the fledgling phoenix could have prematurely flown away)
Pang Tong: You are the leader of the assassins, after all. Flawless kill. Just get shot once and let go, enough for me to fall to my death.
Liaoyuan Huo: Correct, and then I can continue playing the insider. Except I came here to solve a problem.
