sort of! they are on my secret menu for the most part. i think the majority of characters i've written on tumblr who i feel i've still got a bit of their story to tell ( or whose stories i never got to tell much in the first place ) are on there.

Mun talks about her D&D characters for munday

I thought it’d be fun to let ya’ll hear about them. Also I know a ton of them start with L names, I’m sorry and I don’t know how this happened. 

Lokni-Human Blood Hunter (TW: death, demons, sex, child neglect, pregnancy complications) Life goal: To kill Raktos the demon  Campaign: Ravnica

The current favorite of my friends who I’ve played a few games with. Personally I think he has one of the most tragic backstories but I had to give him an intense one cause he has a very dramatic goal. The campaign is set in Ravnica which for those who don’t know is a setting where most things take place in a large city where power is divided by guilds. My child is in the Raktos guild which is the ones who throw parties put on shows, and run the brothels. Thing is they also kinda murder folks alot, live on the idea of viva la anarchy and they do this to keep their guild leader, a massive demon happy so he doesn’t end the world. Now that you’re caught up his story goes as follows. He was born to two parents, things were great, his mom got preggers, she was out with her husband and got dragged into a Raktos show cause they do that, she was injured and basically it became either save her or her unborn child and he insisted on the child. Dad blames the kid for loosing his wife, neglects teh child, Lokni also a child adopts his dad’s mindset being confused and hurt, family friend of mom takes in unwanted child (she is a centaur by the way), Lokni realizes eventually his dad really doesn’t care about him either as dad slips further into insanity about wanting to bring his wife back, Lokni decides to go apologize to bro who instantly forgives to live with centaur mom. Later they are told their dad is dead getting mixed up with the wrong people (however based on hints from the dm I fear he is not dead and also fear when the dm brings him back). His goal as a character is this: He wants to make sure no family ever ends up ripped apart like his so he wants to kill Raktos and put someone else on the throne, not him cause he recognizes he is not emotionally stable enough to run anything. Although originally I was planning on making him more obsessive about his goals and basically become his dad, obsession and hurt drives people to crazy things, but he kinda ended up finding a 16 year old ghost girl in the woods who’s been stuck to possess a knife and basically was like,”well this child clearly has a rough time in life I’m gonna adopt them!” and fatherhood is forcing this man to rethink things cause murdering Raktos=major trouble and he doesn’t want to rip up this new family he’s making so now considering teleporting him away? changing him to be a good person? Yeh it’s getting complicated. OH and he was kind of forced to drink some potion stuff, cause his boss is crazy (she has a ghost choir that she possibly killed everyone there, complete with a kazoo section cause ya boi Lokni on a whim said it needed more kazoos and she listened to him cause he knows music, he plays the spoons and does magic tricks btw as a job, so clearly he knows what he’s talking about) and ye so he is a fox lycanthropy now.

Lapis Lazuil/Laz-Triton, Cleric.  Life goal: Literally be the best monster killer Campaign: Regular D&D 5e

Basically we had a D&D show we were filming at school up until things got too busy with the main show we were producing. This character came before Lokni and we were told,”hey so your characters are monster hunters at this guild but they’ve all kind of been kicked out of their former parties for one reason or another which ya’ll can decide and this is your last chance to stay in the guild.” Me: “cool imma make a triton that hates water, and their a tempest cleric.” Dm: “....why, why are you like this.” Me: “YOU SAID MAKE BAD DECISIONS!” So ye that’s how Laz was made. Her story is that she was adopted by rock genasi. She thinks her parents abandoned her. Truth is they just fell on hard times just before she was born and well couldn’t afford a child so did what they could now trying to find her. So she changed her birth name to be named after a rock like the rest of what she considers her real family. She also has the attitude of the stereotypical highschool cheerleader on disney movies and talks like one too but with a more raspy voice because she is dehydrated, again she hates water because of her hatred for her ‘real family’ and also she genuinely doesn’t like the way it feels,”It’s just liiiike the worst ya know, um like on my skin....yeah so don’t pass out in water or whatever cause like I probs won’t try to heal you....sorry not sorry.” That was literally her first line to the rest of the party. I now use her in one offs and like low key she is alot of fun. 

Luc-Pantoran (I forgot the class and the dm still has our character sheets cause thank you virus) Life goal: Clear their name! Campaign: Starwars 

So first of all funny thing about this one is that usually I have a gender and voice made pretty early into creating a character. With this person....I did not, like literally I got everything else figured out except these two details so I decided,”You know what! You don’t get either of them!” Their story went like this, they have 12 siblings ok, super rural regular family in the inner planets. All of their siblings are wildly successful and they were average. They knew they couldn’t really succeed like everyone else but hey did find themselves enjoying being a nuisance so basically when asked what they wanted to do with their life they would look up at the adult asking and just go,”Crime.” SO that’s exactly what they did. Once they became an adult they ran off, used sleeping with folks to get what and where they wanted, eventually joined a pirate crew, and life was great. They were so good, and kind of had a thing going with the captain that they became first mate. Pretty recently they realized they didn’t relate to either gender and became non binary, they also are still trying to figure out their voice so it would change rather often. Thing is they got framed for stealing from the captain, and hey they’ve done alot of bad but they HAVE NOT broken trust like that, after all they actually cared about the captain, and for once was considering being just with them instead of sleeping around. Nonetheless they are on the run now trying to clear their name. Their theme as a character is,”hey you know that little voice in your head that tells you not to do something, ye they don’t have that. Just a voice that says, do what ya wanna do pal!”

Clarity-Robot, vault dweller (Tw: death mention, human experimentation, dog experimentation) Life goal: Just see the world Campaign: Fall out

I love this character so much she is a baby however her theme is,”depending on perspectives people can come across as wildly different things.” So If you’ve played fall out no she’s not a Mr. Handy or one of the robots that looks incredibly human like. We decided an amalgamation of the two fit her story better and it was available in the unofficial fall out table top we were playing. She looks humanish, a human like form but with clear casing showing her inner workings and a human mask to try to look  more friendly. She’s got on a little yellow dress on too, very vintage, and with the sweetest most innocent sounding voice. She even travels with a Dalmatian who, as a robot could think of only the most appropriate name to describe her grizzled hound, Spot. As for fighting one arm can transform into a flame thrower and the other into a chain saw. Also as a robot she can not go against programming. She also makes comments such as,”I am overjoyed you will not become a plant!” “Oh no don’t pick flowers! I would hate to hurt the plant...” “Are you sure the grass will not mind if I step on it?” If you have played fallout you might know where this is going. Basically there are 2 vaults that are important, both of them are found over grown with plants one containing half human half plant monstrous creatures. Her story is that she was in the vault that laster holds the monstrous creatures. Her programming was to continue the experiment, the experiment to combine humans with plants in an attempt to improve upon humans. She could not tell the humans what she was doing, and she could not stop the experiment until it was complete. There were dogs there under her command to be used as experiments too or keep the plants in line. So the chain saw and flamethrower were to stop unruly plant monsters from attacking her and keep them in line until finally the order came that the experiment was over and she was no longer needed. So she left, secretly horrified by her actions attempting to avoid ever processing what she witnessed fully through her system. She wants to see the world for herself now with her dog friend. Again when people meet her she seems like a sweet angel going so far as to worry about even the feelings of plants, but for anyone who was in that vault they would see her as a very different person.

【・ヘ・?】: Ever tripped in front a bunch of people? YEP. The worst one was in the parking lot of church when I was a kid. Fell on my face, broke the glass casserole dish I was carrying, and my dress went up over my head. So. Yeah. That was a fun one. Luckily, I didn’t get any glass in my torso.

＊: When was the last time you tied your hair up? (if your hair is long enough) A few days ago!

旦: Last time you drove your car (if you can drive/have one)? The last time I drove my own car was the night my severe anxiety was triggered. Whole horrible story, and the reason I cowered from thunderstorms for about a decade.

愛: Are you currently dating? Nope. I have been married for 20 years as of last Halloween.

太: When it’s New Year’s, do you make New Year Resolutions and actually commit to them? Nope. I used to, but now I know I won’t actually keep them, so why do it, and just feel awful about it later?

空: Did you ever throw up after one roller coaster ride or a few? Nope. I’ve ridden one coaster in my life, and never since then.

Allll the time.If I’m not humming randomly, or singing an actual song, then I’m singing random notes that sound good together with nonsensical sounds.

In 2nd and 3rd grade I learned both french and german (though I remember almost nothing of them.), and all through jr. high I learned Spanish and was fluent in it up to that sort of level, but I remember almost none of it, as well, through lack of anyone to practice with.

≘: Have you ever watched the sun rise? One of my favorite things to do was to go camping in the winter. One of my favorite things to do while out there in the middle of nowhere was to wake up early, and watch the stars fade, the sun rise, all while sipping a nice cup of coffee, and wrapped in a blanket in front of my fire. Ahhh, yes, good memories.

☄: Would you defend a friend if they were in danger? Always. Without thought to my own safety. It’s just part of who I am. ➍: Ever been to a concert? Was it fun? Yes, and yes.

♛: Do you like group projects? Deeeepends on what it is. If it’s a creative thing, then I’d prefer to work alone. Everyone has their own vision, their own creative style. I’ve seen group creaative projects go so wrong because everyone wants their vision, and they end up ignoring others’ input.

高: How often do you use headphones/earbuds? Every day. My hearing is way too keen to be able to deal with life without them. The Spouse likes to say I can hear a mouse fart a mile away. 

ಲ: Headphones or earbuds? Earbuds. Headphones kick off my chronic pain, and I do everything I can to avoid that pain.

♞: Showers or baths? SHOWERS. BATHS ARE GROSS. IT’S JUST YOU SWIMMING IN YOUR OWN DEAD SKIN, BODILY OILS, AND CROTCH AND BUTT STUFF. GOOD GOD NO.

✗: Walks on the beach or in a forest? Both? But if I had to pick, I’d choose a forest. Too many people at a beach now-a-days.

⊙﹏⊙: Which horror movie scared you the most? If any? The original IT when I was a kid, but only because of a very specific prank pulled by my best friend’s brother that had me screaming, and running. They found me a mile away, standing in the middle of the road (it was 1am), just staring at nothing, and swaying side to side. Clowns, after that, have been a terror for me.

^∇^: Has your best friend ever made you angry? Of course. We’re human. Also, everyone pisses me off at one point or another. However, she’s one of the two people who has pissed me off least often in the entire world.

メ: Cupcakes or muffins? Hm. Idk. They both have their plus sides. If there’s milk, then muffins. If not, then cupcakes.

♯: Would you like to be able to fly? YES. I’ve had dreams of flying since I was a kid. About as often as I’ve had dreams of swimming to the bottom of the deepest parts of the ocean. Half of the time it was just something I did in grocery stores, for some reason. That is, until I started thinking about it too much, and lost the ability, and smashed into the floor face first. Sadly, it always happens.

♿ Is there anything about your body you’d like to change if given the chance?

[[ Probably a bunch, to be honest--the number of times I’ve told myself, “I hate this body” is innumerable. But I don’t mean it literally... it’s just really irritating sometimes. Genetics, I swear; RNG is nasty right from the start. Probably I would like much less sensitive skin. As soon as the climate turns adverse, shedding and dryness ugh. Is that TMI? My knuckles have already cracked on my left hand and the only way I can keep my skin intact is with warmth. I don’t have to actually feel cold in the least, either, so I’m probably missing the actual cause. Keeping warm is the only way I’ve kept anything under control. But damn it’s annoying. How come I can’t have a lizert heater?

[[ Since we’re on the topic of dressing for the weather, I like to wear hats. I love touques so much. I don’t have many, but I wear them a lot. I have a grey one that says “K2SNOW” but it has a circular logo right next to it so I read it “OK2SNOW” which is appropriate? I have a plain black one, and a felt (?) hat with a kitty face and ears on it. Won’t be caught dead out of the house in it though. I also have a brownish-grey hat a friend gave me for my birthday ages ago, with metal kite, star, and circle shapes hooked into it and a skull as a permanent fixture.      Ohmygoodness there’s so many! I tend to ramble, so I’m gonna throw this under a read more so as to not clog the dash!

✮ ━ top three favorite muses that you’ve played

     Ohgosh, I??? Can’t choose???

     If I were to be completely honest with myself, I’d end up choosing three OC’s as several of them have been with me almost as long as I’ve been roleplaying. They’re near & dear to my heart, you know? We’ve been together a long while. However, concerning muses I’ve taken on since I joined Tumblr? Well…

     One; would have to be Midna. A little over two years ago, she was the first muse I ever attempted on Tumblr. I joined the rp community here with her, & it was because of all the amazing times I had on her blog that caused me to stick around, after wandering several different sites in search of somewhere to rp.

     Just like Tetra & Ravio, she is one of the three TLOZ muses I revived this year. Yet, I’ve admittedly been a little more active on the other two than her…

     Two… Oh, man. I’m failing this. I’m failing this so hard. I love all of my children, ok. Tetra, I took up shortly after Midna & didn’t expect to love as much as I did but I do. Oh, how I love my sea rat so much, & her blog has as many dear memories as Midna’s, for much the same reasons. She’s just… so sassy. So fierce, & so troubled ‘cause wow, no character of mine can’t not be troubled & hiding things.

     Ravio, I… I remember rushing through ALBW’s in December of 2014 just so I could learn more about him & create his blog, as I was dead set on taking him up the second I laid eyes on him. Alas, things didn’t work out, life got in the way both then & shortly after I officially created the blog, but now? Gosh, he’s so fun to write as. Easily a favorite of mine.

     For a while, I wrote as Demyx from Kingdom Hearts & it’s just, it was one of the more memorable experiences I’ve had. That sloth of a sitarist was a blast. Then there’s Prompto Argentum from FFXV, & wow, I’d never been welcomed into a fandom so immediately & warmly. Plus??? Literal ray of sunshine??? I can’t not love???

     I… I really am terrible at choosing xD All of my muses are important to me in their own ways, & all of them favorites.

ღ ━ favorite canon ships for your muse(s). are there any you dislike?

     Would it be strange if I said that I haven’t the slightest idea? If we’re talking about romantic ships, then there’s… honestly, there is no muse for Ravio that I’ve looked at & gone “there, that one. I must ship with that one.” Sometimes, I need little prompting to jump on board a ship. Other times, I need a decent amount of chemistry; I need interactions & bonding & just, all that fun stuff. With Ravio, thus far… nothing’s really happened yet?

     Canonly, it’s difficult. In the game, Ravio didn’t… There are not a ton of interactions there, & definitely nothing that screamed to me that love is in the air. The two canon ships I see most for Ravio are with Princess Hilda & Link, but those are also two that I, personally, am unsure how I feel about? I can see why people like them, honestly, & it’s not that I dislike them either, it’s more… It’s more that, when I look at them, what I see is either on the friendship side of things, or familiar. & I kind of love that? As those are two of the most important types of relationships to me?

     The thing with shipping too is, I automatically assume that no one is interested xD Though I like to ship, it’s not something I feel to strongly for just because I’m to shy to approach anyone about it. Even if chemistry were to occur, who knows if anything would come from it unless it were explicitly stated that hey, the other mun is interested. It’s something people would probably need to scream at me for me to get the message.

☀ ━ how long have you been roleplaying? how did you get into it?

     Nine years! Ish. It might be closer to eight, & almost nine but not quite. I’m not entirely certain what the date I started was. Either way, it’s been a lot longer than I ever thought it would be, lol.

     As for how I got into it, there was some dress up site that I used to go on for fun. Things such as clubs were there, with new ones listed on the main page that cycled with each refresh. One day I stumbled upon one with “RP” in the title. Curious as I was, I peeked my head in there & thus began my descent into this wonderful madness.

◈  ━ share some headcanons that you have for a muse of your choosing

     I’ve only just started ALBW’s for the first time in two years, so I’m still figuring out what I headcanon & whatnot. One thing I’ve been learning towards for awhile though, ( & maybe it’s not a headcanon so much as something everyone has already thought up & I’m just late to the party ) but… where did Ravio get all of his weapons?

     I once thought that Ravio had simply stolen them from the castle or something along those lines, & perhaps that is where some of them originated, but… in this series, where do you usually gain your weapons? Dungeons. Which is one reason as to why I like to believe that Ravio ventured into the dungeons of Lorule ahead of time, just far enough to retrieve the item.

     Yes, one of Ravio’s most notable traits is cowardice, but look at all of the moments where he displays bravery. He stood up to his friend, which takes a lot of guts. &, he left his home, the only place he’s ever known, to aid the hero. To aid a foreign land, at the cost of his own. That… that’s not easy to do. Who’s to say that, upon hearing of the loot inside, he couldn’t have mustered up the courage to enter the dungeons in preparation of assisting Link? For both of their land’s sake?

     That’s not to say I believe he fought his way through the dungeons. I’m honestly not sure Ravio knows how to properly wield the weapons at his disposal, not without being stricken by fear in the face of danger. However, Ravio is nothing is not cunning. With enough of that, stealth, & determination, I like to think he could have found his way through.

Munday

I didn't post a Munday last week because I was too upset about Dodger, so here's the Munday I was going to post then, which is mostly about my vacation.

- There was a little white boy with red hair by the pool who was speaking Spanish. Fabian is real, you guys.

- I saw real live sea cucumbers for the first time! There had been a storm and it had stranded some on the beach. I threw them back, of course!

- Florida deer are smaller than regular white tail deer, like large dogs, and ADORABLE. Some were right near our car when we drove through a park! - How u kno ur high femme: packing 3 purses for a weekend trip

- If I were an animal, I'd be a hamster. Not a rat. Rats are far more social than I am. Hamsters, like me, are cute but sleep all day, only care about food, and hate everyone. Okay, I don't hate EVERYONE, maybe I'm more a chinchilla---they're very sensitive and very selective about people, and they're not unfriendly but also are not “cuddly” types like rats.

- When we went here last year, I went to a restaurant on my own while my parents did other things. The waiter very clearly thought I was underage (the hotel staff did as well, they didn't give me the pass for drinks like my dad got until he told them no she really is over 18---I'm 27 you guys) so he was really nice to me and talked about things to go see and stuff. I enjoyed the food so I came back this year, and once again I was solo and while I got a different server (who was wearing a FANTASTIC 90s-chic choker + velvet dress combo) the waiter from last year saw me and came up to me and was like “you're here alone again?” and basically acted like a dad, it was a very sweet.

- Okay, so while on vacation I got the phone game “Vampire Prelude: We Eat Blood and All Our Friends Are Dead” to play in the car, and I recommended it here in an OOC post. That said, I have found out some information that I hadn't been aware of when I purchased it. The artist and writer, Zak Sabbath, is an established serial harasser. Pretty gross, from what I understand. There's like...so much out there on the matter that you should probably just Google his name if you want details.

There were also some very legitimate complaints online about one of the characters, a vampire named Avery  who is one of your allies. She's a transgender woman who works in porn, and she hunts by calling uber drivers. If they're a man, she gets in with them, flirts, informs them she's trans, and asks if they want a handjob. If they've been dicks or said they voted for Trump or something like that, she feeds from them (I can't remember if she kills them or not, she gives you good information on how NOT to kill someone while feeding, which you didn't know how to do before) But if they were nice dudes, she just gives them a handy and sends them on their way. So, it's a very sexual portrayal of a literally predatory trans woman who may also (depending if she kills them or not) technically be a serial killer. Which is about as cliché as you can get in terms of negative fear-mongering portrayals of trans women.

And in most contexts I would be no-holds-barred pissed at that. But in the context of this game, you (the player) and ALL your allies are like that. Even after you learn from Avery how not to kill when you feed, you still murder a dude at a party because you were hungry (though you kind of have to because you CAN'T follow her advice, you're a thinblood and don't have fangs so you have to kill with a knife) Your other allies are Alfonso, Morgan, and Izzy. Alfonso is a tattoo-faced punk who kills cops for food, fun, and politics. Morgan, also a trans woman, was a vegan in life and feeds on vegans now. Your friend Izzy is the only one who doesn't kill anyone, I don't think, but he accidentally makes a guy into his slave and is fine with that. Everyone is awful, it's just the villains are even worse. Much like the Bloodlines PC game in that regard, actually---no good guys, including you. So like, on the one hand, a sexualized transgender predator is a super horrible trope. But on the other hand I'm not sure it's the same when in context, she's not remarkable/unusual for that, and is in fact one of the “good” guys, and there's also another trans woman who isn't portrayed at all in the same stereotyped sensationalized way (though technically still a predator because she's a vampire too but again, EVERYONE is a vampire and not the nice kind) so I feel like context matters.

But I'd still be iffy AT THE LEAST about it except that the other writer BESIDES Zak Sabbath is Sarah Horrocks, a transgender woman herself, who responded to the matter by saying that she personally finds “bad bitch” types like Avery, be they trans women or cis women, to be empowering, and a lot of personal stuff about why she wrote Avery how she did that I think is better told in her own words, so you can read the conversation on her blog here: http://mercurialblonde.tumblr.com/post/157525001658 I think that her being written by a trans woman makes a huge difference, definitely, than if a cis person had done it. Like even with all the characters being murdering vampires I was still like “ummm” until I read her statement. But I am cis myself, so I am no authority on portrayals of people who are trans, so I urge you to just make your own judgment (hence my relaying all this information) about whether you want to buy the game or not. I probably would NOT have bought the game if I knew then what I do now concerning Zak Sabbath. But I didn't find all this out until I was almost done with it, and I can't say I regret playing it. I enjoyed it, even if it got into edgelord territory a lot at the end.

(Also I...have a huge crush Avery now because I too am weak for that personality type ><)

it's a great creative outlet! i have always liked storytelling and character / world building and it's just a lot of fun for me with the right people !

aside from the normal things like writing / character compatibility and age, i like people who are low-maintenance and chill. if i go on someone's blog and they just seem very high strung for whatever reason, chances are we are not going to get along very well. i just don't have the mental energy for it lmao. i also like people who are enthusiastic and who engage with the plot / thread. or even if you're not the best plotter, at least...keep the thread moving? give me things to respond to? i lose interest really quickly if i have to be the one moving things along all the time. the balance shifts naturally and that's fine, i just don't always want to have to carry a thread. also, people who are patient and who don't expect me to respond / post / message back rapidly or every day, and who understand that i don't always have the mental energy to keep up with conversations for long periods of time but who ALSO understand that me dropping off for a bit is NOT an indication of my interest in writing with them? i really am the sort of person you can drop off the face of the earth for six months or even a year or more and then just show up one day like HEY LORI DID U STILL WANNA-- and my answer is yes.

hmmm. i'm not sure about tropes specifically, i guess i wish there were more unpretty female characters who receive the love and attention that the "husbandos" do .. or just female characters who receive the love and attention that male characters do in general. anyway, before i go on a rant, i guess i dislike it when characters just drive themselves to the point of exhaustion and then completely refuse to take a break? i do not admire that, i do not like those threads, at that point they have become a liability and it is not the helpful / admirable martyrdom anyone thinks it is.

haha, i'm a fraud and i don't have one. i've had various favorites over the years but honestly my focus tends to shift as i go through different phases in my life, so things that i really liked 10 years ago don't necessarily apply the same way today. and lately the only books i've been reading are academic books related to grad school -- although i do sincerely enjoy them (mostly...). but that's also why i'm pursuing a master's degree in the field...

i did enjoy reading through the divergent books a couple years ago though. for me, you really can't go wrong with a good dystopian novel.

i am in grad school and i am doing a master's degree in teaching english to speakers of other languages. i did my undergraduate degree in linguistics ( i call it applied to distinguish from historical / forensic / etc / specific branches of linguistics - it’s just general linguistics ) . this is something i've wanted to do since i was seventeen, so i'm very excited to finally be doing it now. :3
