Guys, I know this isn’t the Law you’ve been expecting, but I’ve been guzzling down Naomi Novik’s Temeraire series at the rate of a book a day this week, and I’m not gonna lie, I absolutely love William “Honor” Lawrence. 

I did this quickie in about 3 hours. I should really remember to record myself drawing one of these days - but then you guys would be able to see that I traced all of those ships off assassin’s creed screenshots.

He thinks of the gallows. His memories feed him images of worn-out terror and animal rage, of death-throes weakened by watery gruel and unrest, of putrid odours and screams half-cut. He doesn't really ponder upon its grimness-mostly, in his mind's eye, he looks up.

He sees it then, and only then - a faint shadow hidden among the rolling clouds, wings spread wide to ride the frigid currents, those winds sending dear Temeraire away, away, free⋯⋯.

He draws this image with precision, etches it upon weary eyes and heartache, until it numbs everything else. The wind's roar drowns faint creaks of the gallows, and the heady buoyancy of a quick dive floats over the noose. He could almost enjoy this feeling, this reenaction.

Except there is no enjoyment. And you cannot hear the wind from the gallows, nor look up from the noose - you can only feel that sharp, final dive.

But he wonders if he might look up and see, just before.

knitting tutorial made by a twenty-something knitting influencer: 18 min long, 12 of those minutes being the intro and a sponsor plug, they show the first few steps of the tutorial at the slowest speed known to man, they show the most important steps at a neck-break speed, they stop every five seconds to talk about what they just did, 40,000 comments filled with questions ranging from insightful to “how do i knit”, filmed with a camera that costs more than a car, the tutorial is incorrect.

It surprises me that Laurence hasnt just been beheaded due to him being an absolute menace to the Admiralty. Imagine having to deal with the nightmare of paperwork that is William Laurence. The amount of paper they must've wasted on him alone, not to mention Temeraire. The things that they must've tried to try to get him to calm at least calm down and stop doing the most batshit crazy tomfuckery for a single second, he was on top of he list for nearly a decade, the goverment watchlists he would be on in the present day. He is the supervillian of British politics, the ground he treads upon turns dark, each town he visits become and activist's wet dream, every letter he writes gets intercepted to make sure he isn't planning to topple the goverment (which he could most likely accomplish effortlessly), the world's most brazen politicians cower in the shadow of William Laurence, and faint under his glare. Do not come in contact: Career Death.

At first I want to give Dayes wattpad's badboys' green eyes, you know, but in the book Laurence just mention his hair color. Idk, I just think green is distinct enough to mention.

Go Laurence, go!! One of my favourite scenes, I couldn't resist and had to draw it. Laurence was a badass and Rankin got exactly the treatment he deserved, little bastard.

(Don't count this as part of my private quest to draw chapters in Temeraire, because this is chapter twelve and I'd like to go chronologically, except this has lived in my head for far too long.)

Also, I'm putting the sketch here for once, because I like Laurence's expression there more – the colors have muted it a bit.
