A/n Loved this request, then I came across this picture on Pinterest and it reminded me so much of Matty and gave me some inspo. Also this is my first piece for Matty so I hope you like it :)

‘Let me tell you ‘bout this girl

I thought she’d rearrange my world’

The soft sound became less and less muffled as you woke, blurry eyes adjusting to the light.

‘Takes a particular type of girl

To put my heart under arrest

So why’s this beating on my chest?’

Cool air enveloped your body as you shifted uncomfortably, contorting your body in a desperate re-attempt to find comfort.

The sound stopped suddenly as you shifted and your eyes searched for the source once you had escaped your early morning daze, only to land on the sight you’d been waiting so long to witness, nine months, to be precise. Matty lay closely beside you; something you saw most mornings, but this time with the addition of your newborn baby girl, cup of tea in his hand as she rested against his chest, duvet pulled up high over the two of them. And suddenly the 26 hour labour, and all the pain that came with it washed away, a distant memory as your eyes met his. The corner of his lips pulled impossibly higher when he noticed you were awake, mirroring your own expression exactly. He raised the hand that wasn’t holding her close, and brushed the hair that had escaped from your ponytail out of your face,

‘Hey’ he spoke, keeping his voice low as if not to disturb the silence.

‘Hey’ you returned, leaning your face into his hand as he cupped your jaw, his thumb tracing slow circles against your skin as your eyes flicked between him and your baby girl, unwilling to look away from the sight in front of you.

‘How are you feeling?’ You could hear the concern laced within his words, he’d watched you toss and turn all night, unable to find any comfort as aches and pains wracked your body from the relentless few days.

‘Perfect’

‘Yes’ he breathed, ‘yes you are’

All words vanished from your mind, unable to think of a response as you blushed at his words, even after so many years, he never failed to make you blush.

‘Were you singing?’ You asked, desperate to change the subject once you saw him smirk at your reaction.

‘I was’ he confirmed, eyes moving back to watch her on his chest, the gentle rise and fall of her body as she breathed seeming like the most magical thing you’ve ever watched, ‘I’ve got a whole discography of nursery rhymes prepared for her, you know.’

‘I don’t think many of your songs are baby appropriate, babe’ you couldn’t help but laugh.

‘Well… maybe not’ he laughed along with you, brining his forefinger to trace along the bridge of her nose, soothing her back to sleep as she began to stir at your laughter.

‘Shush’ you whispered through giggles, desperate not to disturb her sleep.

‘I’ll just have to write some new ones for you, hey?’ He promised as he pressed his lips against the crown of her head once his laughter had eased, peppering kisses to her skin between words.

You swallowed the lump that formed in your throat as you listened to him, tears gathering in your eyes as his were trained so attentively on her.

He reached for your hand as silence encompassed the room once again, wrapping you within the safety of your newborn bubble. Lifting your hand to press his lips against your skin, fingers entangling between your own as he shuffled further down the bed, eyes closing, completely content.

‘I think this might be my dream’
