► NOT SO BERRY x BERRY PASTEL RAINBOWCY - AN UPDATED VERSION

as some of you might know, I've written updated versions of the not so berry challenge and the berry pastel rainbowcy before. however, I keep wanting to switch between the two challenges or abandoning my one save for the other. so, on a random Monday evening I figured, why not combine the two for the ultimate updated challenge experience? my lovely fellow simmers over at @berrygameplay convinced me to write stuff down and... the NSB x BPR updated rules was born!

credit goes to @lilsimsie and @alwaysimming for the original nsb rules and @berrysweetboutique for the original berry pastel rainbowcy rules!

►WHAT ABOUT THE RULES

as with my two other updated challenges, i've written the rules in a google doc (that you cannot edit! stop asking for permission to edit the file!). if you want to save the rules for yourself, go to file > create a copy and you're able to save the rules wherever you want and edit them. this will not change the original document.

there are disclaimers, a list of packs you need for this challenge (most packs are optional) and an index to move through generations quickly. each gen has their own introductory story (you don't have to adhere to these stories!), required traits - aspirations - careers, the generational rule (bpr), reward traits to buy, and the list of objectives catered to that generation. feel free to edit these objectives to your hearts desire! this challenge is supposed to be fun :)

generation one: white

coming from a long line of privileged sims, you’re ready to break away from your family and pursue your own dreams. you’ve only really felt close to your grandparent and never told anyone you were the sole heir to their old, rundown farmhouse. starting off with nothing, you pick up the hobby you were never allowed to put into practice: painting. you find it difficult to let other sims in and may come across as rude sometimes. you just need that one special sim to make you feel like it’s all worth it. slowly but surely, your own family starts to grow, but not without its ups and downs…

traits: creative, mean, [open slot]

aspiration: painter extraordinaire OR chief of mischief

career: none (sell paintings, produce, and harvestables)

spouses career: [open slot]

GENERATIONAL RULE: paint a portrait of your heir REWARD TRAITS TO BUY: mentor, speed reader, super green thumb

move into a lot with the ‘simple living’ lot challenge (size is up to you)

max painting skill

have multiple different love interests, but do not settle before having a child

date with a purple, pink, AND/OR red sim

► BERRY PASTEL RAINBOWCY - UPDATED VERSION ◄

It is finally here! After weeks of working on this challenge, I can finally say that I am done and ready to start playing 👀 But first, let me introduce you to the challenge!

After the ungodly amount of love I received after sharing the NSB updated rules, I figured why not continue this trend and update one of my favorite berry legacies on this planet! Similarly to the NSB updated rules, I wanted to make the Berry Pastel Rainbowcy challenge by @berrysweetboutique​ more challenging and add content from the newer packs to the challenge to make it more current. That being said, this challenge first and foremost belongs to Berry, who kindly gave me permission to share this updated rules version of her beloved legacy challenge!

Similarly to the NSB updated challenge, the rules will be posted in a google document for easy access and to enable me to edit the rules whenever I want/need to. In the google document, I have listed the original rules as well so you are able to choose between playing with the original rules or playing with the updated rules. Also, this gives you an overview of what changed and what remained the same. Feel free to skip or add objectives as you play, you don’t have to stick to the objectives I’ve laid out for you, but they’re there if you would like to play around with them!

Generation One: White Growing up you’ve always been the creative mind of your family, the outcast, with your head in the clouds. You didn’t really have anyone to relate to but your parents though, since you’ve lived a rather sheltered life… When things get rough, you decide to get away from your overbearing parent(s) and seek refuge in the family’s vacation home. With no job and thus no income, you try to make the best of things by growing your own crops to eat and sell your art for money. Love doesn’t come easy for you and your love-live is a bit of a mess, but all in all you’ll have a big happy family you’ve always dreamt of!

traits: creative (family trait), art lover, FREE SLOT

aspiration: big happy family

career: none (earn money through selling paintings and foragables)

max painting skill

make one painting of all genres

Pop Art

Realism

Abstract

Classic

Surrealism

Impressionistic

sell at least 5 masterpieces

make a career out of selling your artwork

have 5 children with two different sims (pink & purple)

adoptions allowed after the birth of the 5th required child

other sim’s career: unemployed (they’ll be helping you out on the farm)

only decorate your house with your own art, you are not allowed to buy art

escape the original family home and move to Henford-on-Bagley where you move into a small cottage on one of the larger residential lots (50x40). At least in the first gen, you will continue to add to this cottage as your family grows.

your lot has to have the Simple Living lot challenge (cooking is cheaper but depends on what you’ve got in your inventory; you need to forage your ingredients)

max gardening skill (you are allowed to sell foregables for income too)

besides painting, you also enjoy the outdoors and will have multiple different animals on your small farm. Choose between the following animals (can choose multiple animals)

A cow

A llama

A bunny

A chicken

A cat

A dog

A rodent

Max the relationship with all of your animals

As you grow up into adulthood (adult or elder), either max the knitting skill or the cross-stitch skill because you need to start knitting some clothing for all your grandchildren!

become good friends with all 5 children and at least 2 grandchildren

►NOT SO BERRY - AN UPDATED VERSION◄

After working on this project for weeks, my personal edit of the original not so berry rules is done! I love all sorts of challenges, but sometimes I feel like challenges don’t get as much out of the ts4 game as they’re able to. So, I’ve decided to edit the original rules of the nsb challenge made by @lilsimsie and add more objectives + make the entire challenge more cohesive. I do have to mention that I did alter certain generations or gave them an entire overhaul but still all credit goes to lilsimsie for making the challenge to begin with!

►WHAT ABOUT THE RULES?◄

The rules for this challenge will be posted in a google document for easy access and to enable me to edit the rules whenever there is something wrong/spelling mistakes occur/things didn’t work out the way I envisioned it. In the google document, I have listed the original rules as well so you are able to choose between playing with the original rules or playing with the updated rules. Also, this gives you an overview of what changed and what remained the same. Feel free to skip or add objectives as you play, you don’t have to stick to the objectives I’ve laid out for you, but they’re there if you would like to play around with them!

Generation 1: Mint You are a mischievous scientist that really loves the color mint. You’re career driven but still make time for silly pranks and outings with your closest friends. However, you are selfish and self-centered, creating your ultimate fantasy image; the mischievous scientific mastermind.
