She had excitement written all over her face. “Don’t let our bosses know - but I gotcha a little somethin’ for Christmas!” She chimes, smiling widely towards the dark haired angel. Alice holds out her hands, offering the present to the other. She had picked out a really cute nail polish set, she thought it would be fun to paint each others nails sometime!

“…..” He was unable to understand…just how anyone–human or demon–could want to exist in such a dismal way…? But then again…it’s either this or she would stay dead…without existing, wouldn’t she? No matter how much he tried to think about it though…it just simply made his head spin… But he couldn’t let emotions like that distract him. At least now he knew, she wasn’t always like this. 

“….You might want to recommend that position to someone else. I don’t plan on dying for a long time now…” He managed to brush it off lightly, placing a hand on his chin, trying to think of his next question. “I have one more… This ‘boss’ of yours…who is he? Don’t tell it’s… The Devil, himself?” 

“Yup! Yup! He prefers to go by Mephistopheles though.” Alice chimes smiling brightly towards Shuichi. She was awful chipper when talking about her work in general because this was all she came to know. Getting to know someone, convincing them to kill themselves, rinse and repeat. At least she did get to see those she had grown close with again, in the after life. Growing restless, the blonde floats around her counterpart in a circle before stopping right behind him. She hooks her arms around him, giving Shuichi a rather cold embrace. “Hmmmmm~ Anything? Anything else you wanna ask me?” The demon giggles playfully as she rests her head on his shoulder gently.

“W-WHAT?!” And it got even worse! It was bad enough that someone who claimed to be a demon was set up to do something so horrible and slow…but…for that someone to be…dead? Certainly unexpected… He had so many questions…but all of them would likely have obvious answers. His…head was spinning from this. She was going to stand by him? Forever? Until he died? What…what was he supposed to do? 

“….T…This…doesn’t make any sense… You’re…a demon…because you’re dead…? Does…does that mean…you were human at one point?” He ignored her questions…he wasn’t going to buy into the other girl, meeting her agenda. 

“O-oh.. Yeah.. I was alive once. Like a loooong time ago! I wasn’t born a demon or nothin’. When I died the boss offered me this demonary position! I’d say it’s better then hanging around in hell for all of entirety. Heyy... Maybe when ya’ die, you can get a position similar ta’ mine. I’ll put ina good word with the boss and everythin’!” Alice cheered, doing a little twirl in front of Shuichi. “Anymore questions? You sure do ask a lot of em’.”

“……” He ignored her question. Because he was in too much of a surreal disbelief… His vision felt like it was going blurry…his stomach turned, he simply felt like he wanted to throw up all of his guts out right now… He couldn’t believe what kind of situation this was. “…I’m gonna be sick…” He finally uttered as he clenched his chest…it felt very really…which meant…this wasn’t a dream. 

“I…I just…don’t understand. You’re…supposed to watch me…until I want to die…? What if I don’t want that…? Aren’t you basically just wasting your time then?” 

(”Actually…a better question is…who this employer of hers is…?”) 

“Well - yeah.. Basically! It’s my job to haunt, torment, pester and just be a general nuisance to ya’.” She chimed, placing her hands on her cheeks as she bats her eyes cutely at her counterpart. “It’s not like I have anything better to do anyways - since I’m dead and all.” The blonde emits a soft giggle as she floats towards the detective. “So - what’s the plan for today then huh? huh? What’s a guy like you do usually?”

The blonde was in the middle of sorting her hair bows by color when she felt herself vanishing from her realm. This was a rather curious feeling. She stared down at her hands as they became transparent. She suddenly reappeared in a darkly lit room, in the middle of a summoning circle. She looked around curiously then bats her emerald eyes at the human who summoned her here. “Ummmmm?” 

She was in the dark completely when it came to this human since she wasn’t assigned to him, she had no prior knowledge on him other than he had a clear interest in the occult. “Congrats human.. You’ve summoned a demon. Who was in the middle of something quite important, I’ll have you know!” She scolded as she stood, but she was quite small. Only standing at a mere 4 feet and 11 inches - her appearance wasn’t at all intimidating.   The blonde folds her arms across her chest as she looks the other up and down. This was the first time she ever encountered a human who she wasn’t assigned to.. The more she thought about it, the more excited she got. Alice didn’t have to convince this person kill themselves - she could potentially befriend this human!  “Well anyways - my name is Alice! and I work in the suicide department!”

Kaito sighed and nodded. “So…can you do anything beside stalk my every mood, Alice? How about cooking…or cleaning?” He stroked his chin, wondering what this girl could do. “You have to some useful features, right? Beside being cute and stuff…how about your first task is to make me some ramen! I’m starving!” The space boy asked, grinning.

“W-well I can float.. Wanna see? Wanna see?” She cheered excitedly as she began to demonstrate that for him. At first she floated pretty low to the ground before going a few feet in the air - showing off as she  floats around him in a circle. “I also have this spooky hole in my throat. Wanna stick somethin’ in it?” 

“H-hey wait... I ain’t no maid! . . .  Though, I do like to bake in my spare time..”

“Can’t I just grow old and die? Ya know, like everyone else who wants to live life to the fullest?” Kaito yelped, looking at the girl. “Plus, for such a cute and adorable person, you sure go right into the uh, juicy, details…” He looked around, hoping this was just a prank call with some sort of a hologram. He quickly tested it out by swiping at the person. “Ah! Can’t fool me Maki!” He yelped, only to actually hit the person.

“I CAN EXPLAIN!”

“....Only my human counterpart can actually see me! Go ahead and ask someone... They’ll think you’re just talking to yourself..” Alice rests a hand against her cheek emitting a soft sigh. She seemed to perk up though once she realized Kaito had called her ‘cute’ and ‘adorable’. She covers her face with her hands for a short moment, wiggling with excitement. “Ah! Y-you really think I’m cute? Thank yooou~!”

“Wha–?!” He saw the file and took it from the other immediately. He…was having doubts hearing the other refer to herself as a demon…when she looked very much not much different than himself. But when he saw the file…everything he ever knew about himself was there… 

(”W…What is this…? This…has to be…some kind of nightmare!”) 

And then she implied that she was going to kill him…dropping the file and backing away from the other…he was in denial to a certain extent…but also afraid. “B-but…why me…? And…why…are you haunting…people like me…?” He kept his distance from the other…if she really was a ‘demon’, he didn’t want to challenge what she was capable of. 

“I dunno.. I don’t pick the people I’m assigned to! Boss does! I just do my job.” She shrugs her shoulders lightly. “Ya’ see.. I work in the suicide department.. Ya’ don’t gotta off yer’self right now though that would make my job a hell of a lot easier... Just has to happen eventually! It’s my job to encourage ya’ to do it.” Alice bends down to pick up the file with one hand and uses the other, snapping her fingers to make it ‘poof’ - disappearing in thin air right before the detective's very eyes. “--That was pretty cool right? Right?”

Suddenly, Kaito felt arms around him, putting him into a hug. “A-Ah! Uh, hello there, it’s a pleasure to meet you Alice!” He chuckled, patting her head gently only for him to hear the last part. 

“Did you just say you’re going to haunt me…for the rest of my days…i-is that right?” His chuckle slowed down and paused. Part of him was wondering if Maki knew an exorcist or not. “Well, w-welcome to my…life…” He softly cried.

“Yup! I’ma demon..” She answers rather plainly, followed but an utterly innocent looking smile. She rocks on her heels rather playfully as she bats her emerald eyes at him. “I work in the suicide department! Y-ya’ don’t have to off yer’self right away... just eventually.” Alice chimed clasping her hands together in front of herself as she studied her human counterpart. Her eyes sparkled with excitement - She loved getting to know her counterparts and Kaito was no exception.

The blonde demon sneakily snakes her arms around Kaito, pressing her cheek against his as she hugs onto him. She seemed to just appear out of thin air. Alice giggles as she lets go of the other, brushing off her skirt a little. “Kaito Momota! It’s sooo nice ta’ meet ya’! The name’s Alice Ettie.” She cheers, flashing a sweet smile towards him. “I’ve been assigned to haunt ya’ until the end of yer’ days.”

“H-huh?” It was one thing to be approached by such a…sweet and cute looking girl, but eventually his confusion would switch over to wondering how the other knew who he was… And then over to what it was that she was saying. 

“W…wait–WHAT?!” He reacted in a knee-jerk kind of way, after hearing the word ‘haunt’. But…was he supposed to take that at face value? As a detective…he bared it in mind that there was probably some method of deception being used…but he acted like he was as naive as he appeared. “W-wait…hold on…what do you mean…’assigned to haunt’ me…? A-and…how…do you know my name?” 

She couldn’t help as an obnoxiously cute giggle emits from her. She found the reaction he had pretty funny. “I’ma demon!” She answers plainly giving a small shrug of her shoulders. “There’s this file ya’ see. It has all your information in it! Boss gives me a certain file on a person ta’ study before I start the job.” Alice raises a hand to playfully twirl one of her golden curls around her index finger as she eyes the other. “You’ll be stuck with me until ya’ - well.. ya’ know..” She trials off using her raised hand to make a cut motion at her throat, implying death.

“Hiiii~!” The blonde would chime as she came skipping up to the young detective. “Shuichi Saihara... It’s nice to meet ya’!” A soft giggle emitted from her as she rocked on her heels in front of him. “My name is Alice Ettie! I’ve been assigned to haunt ya’ from now on.” She said rather confidently. Her tone and appearance didn’t seem to match what she was staying exactly.

“Kazuchi... Kazuchi Soda?! . . . Is that you? Yeesh.. Do ya’ look soooo different from the picture in yer’ file! Took me a whole day just to track ya’ down! They really need to update that.. Wonder if they will when ya’ die-?” The blonde rambled on shrugging her shoulders at her out loud thoughts before quickly jumping back on track.  “I know you’re probably wonderin’ just who I could possibly be! The names’ Alice Ettie and I’ma demon.. I’ve been assigned to haunt ya’!” She cheered, flashing a rather large smile as she closer took a couple half steps towards her human counterpart. She looked him up and down, sort of admiring just who her boss had assigned her too. “Gotta say soda pop I absolutely adore what you’ve done with yer’ hair! Pink is my favorite color!”
