Hundreds of Jewish anti-war demonstrators have been arrested during a Passover seder that doubled as a protest in New York, as they shut down a major thoroughfare to pray for a ceasefire and urge the Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer, to end US military aid to Israel.

The 300 or so arrests took place on Tuesday night at Grand Army Plaza, on the doorstep of Schumer’s Brooklyn residence, where thousands of mostly Jewish New Yorkers gathered for the seder, a ritual that marked the second night of the holiday celebrated as a festival of freedom by Jews worldwide.

The seder came just before the US Senate resoundingly passed a military package that includes $26bn for Israel.

i just don’t think it’s productive to like actually genuinely seriously hate a group of people even if they have systematic power over you. like it’s not a form of activism you’re just saying words! and i’m not talking about a jokey well-intentioned “ugh men suck why are they like this” or “cis people are so dumb” you know that’s whatever but like. i can only speak from my experience in queer online spaces that are predominantly white but. the people (almost exclusively online) who spend all their time talking about how much they hate men and how all men should die and be exterminated or how all cis people are our enemies and are horrible and will never understand oppression ever and aren’t to be trusted. its dumb. thats not a form of activism youre not bringing about any material change you’re just saying the same dumb shit over and over and over again
