Evolving Indian Fashion

India is an ancient civilisation with diverse culture and fashion. The clothing and accessorises have been existing since then. So, it is obvious that there will be fashion trends too. Archaeologists have found in there excavations pieces of jewellery and from the paintings and sculptures we get to know about the kind of dress they used to wear.

A lot has evolved since then. What we know about is the fashion trend that is about 200 years old. The Indian fashion scenario has seen many changes over the years. But there still are some fashion trends that have remained intact all through these years.

Evergreen Fashion

Some fashion trends have lived through the changing times. They still are unbeatable. What has changed is the way they are worn. These are handlooms like Bomkai, Kanjivarams, ikkat , tanta, kalamkari. Different regions of India have their own handloom products. All are unique and very different from each other. These handloom weaves come in basically two different forms the affordable cotton ones and the expensive silk sarees.  

Over the years there have been changes in the form they are available. The traditional handlooms are now not only available in the form of saree but also as salwar kameez set, anarkali, lehenga. They are also being used to make western dresses such as one piece dress, tops, skirt and plazzos or pant.

Also the designers have come up with different weave designs that are very different from the traditional weaves. But, the method of making them has remained the same, the tedious method of weaving by manual machines.

Current Trend

The fashion scenario in India has evolved a lot. From the traditional sarees and salwar kameez, women are now moving towards more comfortable wear or you could say that they have been influenced by the western culture.

Even the Indian traditional wear has transformed. There are many different styles of salwar kameez (you can say so) that you can find in the market. There are chudidar and kameez (with kameez of varying lengths and cuts), anarkali, masakali, kameez that hads been inspired by gowns. Even the sarees are now being designed that are more user friendly, like semi-stitched sarees and lehenga sarees. The more modernised way of wearing sarees is to wear it with a contrast blouse or with a blouse having completely different design. Oh and how can I forget to mention the trend of wearing it with shirts and crop tops. There are some bold styles too such as pant style saree.

The Indian fashion scenario is one that is filled with lots of colors and fun. There is lot of scope for experiments and fusion. So, keep being in trend, keep evolving.

This demographic dividend means modern Indian fashion is growing too! From traditional ornate cloth designs to trends that prevail internationally, the Indian fashion industry covers it all.

Dress Stylishly – Make Fashion Work For You!

All of us have some idea of what we like and what don’t. That is how we decide what to wear for any occasion. But we also have doubts whether we are up to date in our dressing and whether we present ourselves in the best possible manner. If you want to stand out in a crowd, want to wear your attitude or make a statement, you must take care of these little steps.  

Size – Size does matter! Always check your size for whatever you are wearing. Many of us fail to choose the right size and they eventually wear the size we have with us. Some people don't even bother to pay attention to such things. Always select the best fit size according to your body and the same clothes will end up showing you off in a far better light! Remember, the right fit makes you comfortable and being comfortable makes you confident which helps you carry off your fashion statement better!

Colour – Keep an eye on the colours you choose and whether they go well with your complexion and other clothes you are wearing. If you have a dark skin tone, it would be better to choose the top wear with light colors. Those who have a fair skin tone can choose dark colors. This basic step ensures your dress and you are easy on the eye!

Matching – There are different kinds of clothing for different occasions. Formal, semi-formal, party wear… you can either stay true to the occasion; all formal or party, or mix and match, but the thumb rule is that they must synch well. A formal pant and sherwani would obviously not go well together. So visualize how you would look on the clothes you have chosen and redo if you have a doubt.
