It was rather strange how at ease Chaos felt with one of the most wanted villains in his apartment. Even laughing at her comment about a bomb being planted on his couch while he threw himself down on it, planting his feet on the coffee table while looking over at her. "How long do I have until it blows?" He continued the playful banter, crossing his arms over his chest. "Yeah, but it would kinda stink if they placed a restraining order against you. Do you know how awkward it'll be trying to measure 200 feet while in the middle of a fight?" he pointed out. Chaos smirked when she rolled her eyes. "That's what they all say," he mumbled under his breath.
He raised a brow, trying to remember who she was asking about, his mind instantly jumping to the two villains that had tried to attack them. "Oh, those two?" he repeated, humming as if he had been in deep thought while his index finger tapped his chin. "I think their trial is coming up next week, and I heard they got a shitty judge, so they might not see the light of day for a hot minute," he informed her while nodding. "Why? Were you thinking of recruiting them?" He gave her a once-over. "Because if you are, I hate to be the one to tell you that you'd be wasting such a cool club name on losers like that," he gave his unwanted opinion. Though he knew that wasn't the reason for her visit, why the hell would she come to a hero for that, anyway? Chaos shifted his eyes to look over at her. It was strange how someone who looked like her could have so many crimes behind them. If she didn't have so many files against her, he would have never believed that she was a criminal. "You don't have to worry; no one saw you. As long as everyone is aware, you just disappeared from the face of the earth after breaking out of here," he informed her while shifting in his seat. "And I don't plan on telling anyone either; I ain't getting a raise or any special promotions for that shit," he admitted with a shrug.
sooji was sure she'd lost her mind. the overwhelming guilt swirling within her seemed to offer no other explanation. despite her best efforts to move past the day the hero had gone out of his way to ensure her escape, her thoughts stubbornly gravitated back to none other than chaos. the rationality of her mind spiraled, fueled by the fear of what might have unfolded after their last encounter, leading her to this moment. waiting alone inside the man's apartment—a place that had once been her prison.
the idea of feeling indebted to a hero seemed paradoxical. a notion she knew would raise eyebrows among her colleagues and perhaps bring her own loyalty into question. however, despite it all, despite her best efforts, sooji couldn't shake her concern for the man who'd selflessly helped her. for that, when the door swung open, it was a silent sigh of relief that fled her lips. she could only think about how he appeared unscathed. having come back, it was evidently he hadn't been detained for his actions. of course , she had made sure to tamper with any potentially incriminating video from that day. not that she'd share that piece of information aloud to anyone.
❛⠀am i supposed to feel flattered?⠀❜ she quipped in response to his remark about her repeated visits, though her presence was hardly by invitation. and his next comment was quick to earn a snort from her. a mixture of amusement at the absurdity of her own actions and acknowledgment of the gravity of her intrusion. ❛⠀there's a bomb planted in the couch , so be careful when you sit,⠀❜ she jests sarcastically. yet the mention of federal crimes was laughable. ❛⠀you do realize i've committed crimes before?⠀❜ it's a subtle reminder that the charge of stalking paled in comparison to the sins she bore, crimes that remained concealed beneath the veneer of anonymity she clung to. ❛⠀but don't worry, i don't plan on following you around,⠀❜ she rolled her eyes. after all , the girl had planned on this being the last time they crossed paths.
❛⠀i—⠀❜ she stopped herself short of outright admitting she'd come to make sure he was okay, that he hadn't gotten into trouble because of her. she really must have been going insane. ❛⠀how'd things go with the two bastards from the other day?⠀❜ she asked instead, referring to the villains who had caused a scene the last time they met.

River couldn't help but laugh at Haeju's words. "Should we sue them?" he teased, knowing damn well there was a thick document on the director's desk of all the reasons why they could not work together. Especially overseas. "That's what I'm thinking because there is no reason to keep us apart like this," he agreed with a nod. "God, I wish I did; it was so fuckin' funny," he laughed, remembering how the villain looked. "You know, when girls with long ass nails struggle to pick up shit? That's exactly how it looked, except his hands were massive," he recounted the story, hating that he didn't have any footage of it, but perhaps if he asked the security team for the footage, they'd give it to him. It was a loud, thunderous laughter that erupted from River upon hearing the Wreck-It Ralph reference, his hand moving to rest on his chest while he continued to laugh, not caring if people were looking over at him. "That's exactly what he looked like; low-key, he could have flapped away if he truly tried!"
haeju wastes no time in joining his friend's complaints, emitting a tiny groan of his own. ❛⠀it's criminal! can you believe they have the audacity to keep US apart?⠀❜ though there's likely a legitimate list as to why the boys have never been paired for any destination missions together, that doesn't stop the elder from speaking his mind. ❛⠀the director hates happiness! that's what it is.⠀❜ he's about to continue on his spiel but his attention swiftly shifts to the next topic as he listens to river recount his own experiences during his time away. ❛⠀i hope you got it on camera,⠀❜ amusement tugs at his features as he imagines the thief miserably failing at picking up rings. ❛⠀but OUCH! can't imagine what getting slapped by wreck-it ralph is like.⠀❜

Sarang sat there silently, listening attentively to him, nodding in agreement. It was refreshing to have someone understand her dislike for being in the limelight. "That's a rarity nowadays," she muttered, scarlet eyes scanning around the remnants. It was almost eerie how everything around them felt rather dystopian; although her hearing wasn't the best, there was no missing the sounds of all the sirens coming their way. Sirens meant spectators and journalists. Her first instinct was to leave, but she'd never hear the end of her father if she didn't do at least two interviews. Sarang didn't want to think about that right now while looking over at Ziggy. It was a faint smile that curled on her lips when she heard that he'd come running over to her regardless of the cliche signal. However, her smile immediately wavered the moment he winced again. She watched him rise to his feet, concerned for him. "Yeah, let's get going. The last thing I want to do is get scolded by the cleanup crew again," she responded, taking his hand in hers and slowly pulling herself up. "We need to get you checked on; make sure you didn't break anything," she added, her hand not leaving his while she looked up at him with a worried expression.
ziggy couldn't help but detect the hesitance in her voice, stirring an urgency within him to offer some semblance of support. ❛⠀hey, dude, that's totally valid,⠀❜ he interjected, mindful that the limelight wasn't always a bed of roses. ❛⠀you know, to each their own. media stuff doesn't define our heroism--it's what we do out here.⠀❜ his gesture encompassed the scattered debris, remnants of their hard-won triumph. ❛⠀no casualties. That's worth a pat on the back.⠀❜ regrettably, the landscape couldn't be restored to its former state as easily as the lives they'd safeguarded. however, a smile teased his lips as she jestingly discussed their hypothetical signal. ❛⠀eh, it might be a little much,⠀❜ he teased back, ❛⠀but id come running anyway.⠀❜ her feeble attempt at a whistle coaxed a fragile laugh from him, though a sharp pang in his side tempered the moment. ❛⠀we might need to work on that a bit,⠀❜ he admitted, wincing.
without another moment to spare, he rose to his feet, extending a hand to the girl before him. ❛⠀well, we probably shouldn't stay here all day. the cleanup crew will probably be here soon.⠀❜

River focused his attention on the remaining people huddled up together, which caused him to move closer to them. "Ooh! A group huddle! What's going on, guys?" he asked, looking around among confused faces. "Are we planning something?" he whispered. "Or are we playing duck duck goose?" he inquired, waiting for a reply. To his surprise, they stood there completely frozen, silently gawking at him through their masks. River looked between them with a confused expression under his own mask. "What? Is it a secret?" he whispered. "Oh, boo," he pouted while getting nothing but silence. Amid his taunting, the hair on the back of his neck stood up; something was coming. There was a strange sensation that drove him to turn around; the world moved in slow motion. That's when his eyes landed on Lily and the Pyro, the sudden flames, and a tall hedge being consumed by the fire. River felt himself move slightly towards them, but he needed to focus on the rest of the group. He knew Lily could handle this; he trusted her. Still, that didn't mean he couldn't give a warning to the other. "Hey! You burn her, and I'll kick your fuckin' ass!" he shouted, pointing over towards the Pyro. It seemed that in his moment of distraction, one of the group members decided to sneak up on River. Which didn't work for them, as he intentionally shot a web towards them. Entangling them as they collapsed on the ground, trying to get themselves out of the sticky situation. "Don't sneak up on people, bro," he scolded them while shaking his head.
It didn't take long for River to immobilize the rest with his web. Those who tried to run away hung from the lamppost as their legs dangled, their bodies covered with his webs. The others were on the ground wrapped in his webs, just their heads peeking out. "I truly hope none of you had to pee because you'll be here for a while," he informed them while resting his hands on his waist and examining his work.
❛⠀⠀he's either an idiot, or he wanted to stick out like a sore thumb,⠀⠀❜ lily tsked between her and river. in the hypothetical realm where circumstances allowed, lily might have even volleyed back with her own clever retort at his comment of her bossing him around. always willing engaging in their back and worth. yet, consumed by her current predicament, her attention was squarely fixed on the encroaching flames, which seemed to materialize almost as swiftly as she struggled to drag the bandit closer. in a quick act of self-preservation, she conjured a columnaris to shield herself from the impending strike. despite her initial choice of the plant for its lush, verdant foliage, her hopeful expectations were dashed as the once vibrant tallhedge succumbed to the inferno's wrath, reduced to a charred remnant. adapting swiftly, she deftly secured the stranger's hands, employing another round of her vine-like restraints in an effort to limit his potential for further aggression.
❛⠀⠀let's not make this harder than it needs be,⠀⠀❜ the girl cautioned the masked figure, her eyes fixed on him as his flames attempted to devour the plants she relentlessly dispatched towards him. with each wave of verdant restraints, a pang shot through her heart as she witnessed them succumb to the searing heat. ❛⠀⠀i'll be handling your paperwork once I've turned you over,⠀⠀❜ lily declared, conjuring a surge of blossoms to scatter what she was notorious for: the immobilizing pollen that ensnared her adversaries. ❛⠀⠀arson is a felony in its own right. so, let's put your little outburst bed, and then maybe i'll be nice when writing your statement.⠀⠀❜

It was Chaos' favorite time of the day when his alarm sang an obnoxious song to remind him his shift was finally over. He didn't hesitate to return to his company, removing his tacky costume and placing it in his locker. Throwing on his usual outfit, a plain white tee with his sweats, he was not wasting time waving and making conversation with his coworkers. He walked home swiftly, focused on reaching his sofa and passing out with the TV on. Yet the moment he walked into his building, something felt off. There was a strange sensation around him that he couldn't quite place his finger on. Chaos shrugged it off, whatever it was. It wasn't his problem. He continued taking the elevator up to his floor; that feeling only grew stronger the closer he got to his apartment. "What the fuck?" he muttered to himself, looking around the empty hallway. Chaos scratched his head, shrugging it off again while moving to unlock his door. It was only halfway through putting his passcode in that a name came to mind. Sooji. He furrowed his brows. Why the hell was he thinking about her? She was a villain and had evil things, or whatever it was they did, to do.
He opened his door, and that feeling grew far stronger. It was that strange sensation that he had only ever felt around Sooji, and he was now convinced he could find her in any crowd because of this. He walked into his apartment, closing the door slowly behind him. His eyes searched around the room until he spotted her. "You know, you're the only girl who has ever been in this apartment more than once," he blurted out, kicking his shoes off and heading towards his couch. "What did you do here to kill me?" he questioned. "Or are you stalking me? You know, stalking a hero is classified as a federal crime, I think."

❛ you're the reason i keep holding on. ❜ ( lily @ ri )
˗ˏˋ MEME! ´ˎ˗
Usually, River would have dismissed such a claim with a laugh, giving a quick quip back and carrying on with his day. He tried to take in what she had said, but as he stood there, looking dazed, his brain stopped working. It was comical how things had changed between them. He could still remember the day when Lily was assigned to him as if it were yesterday. Along with all of his whining and complaining, he did not want to leave behind his solo work style. But eventually, he found it impossible to perform this work without her by his side. Although they had differing opinions on some issues, particularly his lifestyle and diet, nothing could sever their relationship. With a warm grin on his face, River gently patted Lily's head. "The feeling is mutual, my little pollinator," he continued to tease, moving his fingers to gently tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear. "Yanno, you're stuck with me until we're all old and wrinkly," he said softly. "I ain't letting ya' go," he continued to tease, though his words held some truth to them. He'd probably throw a fit if they ever tried to replace her with someone else.

❛ why do you even pretend to care? ❜ (PH! chooji )
˗ˏˋ MEME! ´ˎ˗
Her words echoed in his mind, brows furrowing together. "This isn't preschool; there's no more playing pretend," he snapped shaking his head. "I don't know what kind of other heroes you've run into while running around being evil and shit," he stated while moving closer to her. "But personally, I don't get paid enough to pretend to do shit around here," he admitted, a shrug rolling off his shoulder while crossing his arms over his chest. His eyes studied her for only a moment. "Do you think if I was 'pretending to care' I would've risked my fuckin' job by letting you go last time?" he questioned with a raised brow, leaning closer to her. "I got a mortgage to pay, and my moms' would kick my ass, so I don't have time to play pretend," he stated, rolling his eyes while leaning back away from her. His back rested against the wall while his hand pulled a cigarette from his pocket, placing it between his lips. "Can we just agree that I genuinely care? Or are you going to keep arguing with me? Let me know, so I can get some more cigarettes to ease my stress."
