'Minecraft: Education Edition' The Game will be Available for Purchase In November
After a summer of testing runs, the full version Minecraft: Education Edition will officially launch on the 1st of November. The service will require a five-dollar annual membership per user or a districtwide license. However the Early Access edition will still be available for free until the end of November.
According to the MinecraftEdu team, more than 35,000 teachers and students around the world have played in the sandbox of Minecraft since the program went live at the start of the summer. The team has added number of features geared towards education in the official release. This includes a "Classroom Mode" which gives a top-down view of the Minecraft world via an app that is a companion to the game. The app allows teachers to manage the settings for the world and interact with their students in game, give items, and teleport their children around the world using an interface that is unified. The education edition will be updated as the main Minecraft world develops. Teachers are encouraged to offer feedback and feature suggestions.
Finally, for any teachers who haven't stepped into Minecraft's blocky world yet, education.minecraft.net offers some starter worlds, tutorials, free lesson plans in subjects ranging from storytelling to city planning, and a mentoring program to connect them with other educators. Minecraft: Education Edition requires OS X El Capitan, Windows 10, and a free Office 365 account.
