We hit a snag.
Lilia has a tracker built into her.
And Obo knows we’re here.
How long she has had it we don’t know; not even she knew she had it. We’ve hit two swarms of robots now; Joey and Callie having taken some hits. We have them patched up but now we need to make a change of route. The only way to do this is to make two teams; one to take the path we were going and one to sneak around.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I’ll take the front team,” Lutarna spoke, “Pixie is better at sneaking so she should lead the second team.”
“I can agree. I rather Marie go with you on main team,” Joey complied.
“Jr, you’re with Pixie. I know your play style and you’re good at getting up and personal in opponent’s faces. Callie, go with Pixie as well.”
“And if I refuse?” Jr. questioned as he crossed his arms.
“Mother’s orders,” Lutarna huffed.
Staring at her, Lutarna returning the glance, Jr sighed before replying, “Fine.”
“I’ll go with Pixie,” Marcy spoke, “I can keep eye your signals while also guiding you while we take the vents.
“If Lilia is going with you, I’ll go with them to be there strength,” Joey spoke with a nod.
“Agreed,” Lutarna replied with a nod.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Letting them take a head start, Marcy kept tabs through our goggles to track our location and keeping communication. Lilia is worried about all this. It’s a last stand really. A last push to stop Obo. I just hope we are enough. And so, we are on the move again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“So whoever has the most ink on the ground, wins? Yes?” Lilia asked.
“Yep, it’s how you win turf wars,” Lutarna replied.
“It sounds interesting. Though I can’t imagine how it feels to just..explode and then wake up back at one spot,” Lilia continued as she looked up at the ceiling in thought.
“It’s...something you get use to,” Lutarna chuckled before something dawned on her.
“Lilia, tell me, do you remember in Alterna when one of the sectors was closed off?” Lutarna asked.
Lilia blinked before her smile dropped.
“I...try not to think about it,” Lilia sighs.
“Obo locked the sector up. He was dragging you away as you were telling him to go back,” Lutarna spoke.
Looking at her confused, Lilia asked, “How do you know that?”
“Long story but the crystals that were left there were tainted with the memories of the event. What happen?” Lutarna replied.
It took Lilia a moment to speak.
“The labs in that section were for experimentation. They were trying to create something, what I didn’t know, but contamination happen and in the process to stop it, it got loose. An airborne virus of such. Locking the sector, Obo and the others watched the effects of it. Basically it drove people mad and violent. Some of the videos I saw weren’t pleasant,” Lilia explained as she rubbed her left arm, “I tried to confront Obo about it but my memories from that day are fuzzy. Obo told me I blacked out while talking to him.”
Lutarna looked concerned but tried not to press it too much.
“I see. The things I saw...weren’t pleasant either,” Lutarna spoke.
For a while after that, the girls were quite.

Lilia.
At first she was confused.
Then tears seeing Orca again.
And then questions.
She was surprised to hear life had continued on Earth and that we had advanced so far to be able to reach here.
We were surprised to hear what happen to the humans.
Typical really; at least for me.
Population growth, different opinions that broke out into civil war, Obo got the idea to turn everybody into robots to protect the survivors of the depleting oxygen levels as the atmosphere they once created to let them live was now dying due to their actions.
Yet people put their fate into Obo and his terrible thirst for control let them all down a grim path. Stuck in a cruel hive mind, any left who had converted to wires and steel were being hunted down by Obo’s men.
And sadly, they got to the last of them.
As Lilia gave their graves blessings in hope for a peaceful afterlife, there was business still attend to.
Obo was building a rocket.
He wanted the hive mind to head back to Earth.
With the threat looming over us, we had no choice.
Target: heart of the colony to destroy Obo.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I’m so surprised the ink is effective,” Lilia remarked in complete shock as the squidbeaks were taking soldiers down one by one.
“Squid Ink is a funny thing. Texture and Strength makes it quite stronger than typical bullets and seeing the change of the atmosphere here and from Earth after so long, typical metal composite won’t stand a chance to it. It’s just get int the systems and gunk things up before it breaks,” Lutarna explained.
“And we Squidbeaks are quite use to combat,” Joey boasted.
“Our grandfather is military trained. So us, Joey, and Lutarna’s sister have been trained under him,” Marie explained.
“I’m from Octarian military as well. I was a top solider under King Octavio and have position in the palace guard,” Pixie replied.
“Octavio is my sister and I’s grandfather and we are also combat trained,” Lutarna remarked.
“And I..um..have been trained a little under my friends...I’m a good shooter,” Marcy hesitated.
“Marcy’s one of the best charger users I’ve seen. Can hit a mark miles away,” Joey chuckled.
Marcy just blushed in embarrassment.
“My mother and aunt have trained me as well as my grandfathers and cousins,” Jr. replied.
“So one big unit. Impressive. I hit the jackpot with sending out my help signal,” Lilia replied in relief, “I know we can stop Obo. We must. He can’t reach Earth.”
“And he won’t. We won’t let him. Right?” Joey replied sternly.
“RIGHT!” the rest of the Squidbeaks replied.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lilia giving us the floor plans of the colony, it wasn’t safe just walking in. We needed to take a back route. Sending in a squid drone, a project Joey asked me to work on, it went unnoticed as we got footage of the place; so low to the ground the robots couldn’t spot it.
Sure enough, although a long wrap around, we could easily take the back corridors and access the rail systems to go directly to Obo without being detected. We just had to be careful, sneak around, knock solders out to let Lilia through, and once there, deal with Obo.
Over the years in secret, Lilia had been devising a virus to inject into Obo’s main motherboard to destroy him and destroy the hive mind. The attack we had found her and the humans in, was an attempt to get to Obo to execute this virus into him.
So with getting all supplies we need, we made way on foot to the entrance of the corridors to make our journey.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“You hear it...don’t you,” Lilia whispered as she noticed Lutarna tugging at her ears in annoyance.
Lutarna blinked; a look of confusion before sighing.
“Is it what I think I’m hearing?” Lutarna asked.
“I’m afraid so…..Their pain...crying out for freedom...sadly on a frequency most can’t heard,” Lilia sighed.
“….I’m glad they can’t hear it….” Lutarna replied.
“May I ask how?” Lilia questioned.
Lutarna looked at her for a moment before speaking.
“Head’s not all squishy,” Lutarna replied.
“I can tell from the phone pieces,” Lilia chuckled.
“Was once a phone,” Lutarna explained, “The became a octo.”
“I see….” Lilia replied.
Then the walk went silent again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taking a rest, things have been quite so far. As we figured, Obo has abandoned this pathways. With humans practically gone, he feels no need to bring robots here. I have a feeling he has caught on to our presence yet either.
That being said, I’m not sure if Lilia has caught on to what I am yet.
Or if I should even tell her.

Mars Journal Log 1:
Arrival to Mars was a successful as we left three days ago. Upon arrival we spent a few hours orbiting the outer atmosphere to do scans of the surface. Scans reveal a former tera-formed landscape that is now 3/4ths eroded back to dirt and sand. Old structures are present and the atmosphere is a mix of oxygen and carbon. So life was once here.
The problem we can across was our survival on the surface. Because of the war and fall of the humans, earth’s atmosphere has changed with it’s chemical structure. With out the right make up and the micro-organisms the live within it, us ink creatures will have trouble breathing through an oxygen and carbon atmosphere.
Luckily Joey and I had thought about this long before heading out. Modify hero gear with air tanks and helmets, we got everybody ready as we landed on the planet to investigate.
As we thought, the place is in ruin. Scans from octoling goggles we brought showed no life; at least for now. Marcy had spotted large structures in the back so we decided to head in that direction as ruins lined our walking direction. In places, bones laid around; broken and eroding away.
Marcy bringing it up, we finally decided to investigate a few and found signs of a civil war having broken out.
Typical.
Perhaps overpopulation or an outer force, we concluded something made the humans fight each other and perhaps caused their downfall here.
Moving forward, it took us an hour to reach the structures and surprisingly, they were still in tack; even working. Breaking in with some quick work and laser cutters, the structures inside felt like the old test lines back in the metro. Then we heard sounds; chaos and gun shots.
Rushing to where it was coming from, we found a fight going on.
Though what we say was quite strange.
What looked like to be humans, I was picking up from the goggles, they were some type of robots. Behind boxes, actual humans hide as they were taking shots at the robots. Given how high up we were from them, we quickly tried to get down there to help them but it seems a shot from one of the robots caused a large explosion as all of us were knocked back. Getting up, I rushed back to look down from the rails to see all on the ground; bleeding out.
Joey and Jr. getting up as the others will still out cold, I grabbed onto them before using my ink wings to fly down there. Hitting a few robots down as we landed, I took charged fighting them as Joey and Jr. got to the humans.
What was interesting was as I used the ink tentacles to fight the robots, the ink was sticking to them; slowing down their movement and gunking up their guns. Realizing this, I took advantage of this as I took one by one down. Once the last few stood, shots from above revealed the others were awake again.
With the robots taken down, we evaluated the damage.
Sadly, the humans didn’t make it.
But we did find someone.
Having been blasted behind some crates, we found one that looked human but a scan of her, showed she was robotic like the others. But once Orca came close to look, he started to panic.
She was the missing sister.

“YOUR MOTHER IS GOING TO KRILL ME!!!” Lutarna shouted, “WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?”
“Look, you wanted help, I’m here to help,” Jr. huffed.
“WE COULD BE GONE FOR DAYS!!! I DON’T KNOW WHAT WE ARE ABOUT TO WALK INTO,” Lutarna continued shouting, “YOU ARE THE LAST PERSON I WANT IN FRONT LINES IF ANYTHING HAPPENS.”
Jr. sighed.
“Grandpa found out about the project,” Jr. spoke.
Lutarna blinked.
“What?” Lutarna finally spoke.
“Grandpa found out about the project and told Sako to shut it down. I wanted to see you one last time,” Jr. sighed.
Tentacles drooping, Lutarna had a pain expression. She knew this would come sooner or later but she figured later than now. Scratching her tentacles, it took her a while to speak; Jr. crossing his arms in the process.
“Fine,” Lutarna finally sighed, “You can come. But no wandering off and no individual investigations.”
“Fair enough,” Jr. replied.
Coming over, Lutarna ruffled Jr. tentacles; getting a chuckle out of him.
“You’re curious like me. I don’t need you getting into things,” Lutarna chuckled.
“Yes Mom,” Jr. replied with sarcasm.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Sako has done some crazy carp before but time travel?” Joey questioned.
“One of his, one purpose, turned into another by accident projects. Sako was trying to work on the big camera again and accident crossed some wire work and mechanics and well, found out how to time travel. We were asked to test things out after Sako tossing smaller objects through and pulling them back through; mostly cameras. Images showed things he knew were from years ago which gave him excitement to keep going,” Jr. explained, “Though Grandpa found out and doesn’t want the pass to be tampered with so he’s shutting things down.”
“How long have you been hopping?” Pixe asked.
“Few years now. I mostly just hang on turf wars, or around the metro to pester Mom,” Jr replied.
“Pester he says,” Lutarna joked.
“I’m surprised you allow this,” Lulu huffed, “And didn’t even tell me.”
“I was hesitant at first with him coming around, but he kept showing up so I gave in,” Lutarna sighed, “Though I set grown rules. No going to Gideon, no going to your aunt or other family. Them knowing could have major consequences. Only other person I know of that knows about him is T. You don’t say who you really are. If anybody asks, you lie.”
“Lulu would have probably bragged about her nephew if she knew,” Marcy chuckled.
“HEY!” Lulu huffed.
“Eh, she’s got a point. Gramps probably wouldn’t have been happy knowing either,” Joey commented.
“Yeah, Joey’s right. I doubt Grandpa would have kept his mouth shut too,” Marie replied, “And Callie would have been 20 million questions.”
“He’s from the future. I’m curious,” Callie squealed.
“My point,” Marie sighed.
“How did T find out?” Pixie questioned.
“I saw him on the karts. I know my uncle, he would have figured it out quick without me saying anything as mom was around that day, so I was just honest,” Jr. replied sheepishly as he scratched his cheek.
“Well, he’s here to help and we’ll probably need all the ink power we can get. Alright folks, tomorrow morning, we set out for Mars,” Joey commented.
“RIGHT CAPTAIN,” all The Squidbeaks and Jr. called out.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“You are still an overpacker,” Jr. joked.
“I don’t know how long we will be gone and I rather have as much as we need,” Lutarna replied.
Having come home, Lutarna went on a spree of packing things she though they needed; medical supplies, clothes, shoes, blankets, towels, etc.
Jr. shrugged before coming over to help. Folding things up and handing them to her, they filled a few suitcases up; both bouncing on the last one to make it shut.
“Have you ever been out in space,” Lutarna asked once done as they were heading downstairs.
“No, never. Grandpa was more interested in the deep sea base than exploring space. It’s only in the last year or so that Sako got Grandpa to think about it,” Jr. replied as he held onto Beethoven.
“So this will be a first for you. We didn’t go to far out when fighting Grizz. It was interesting. So many stars around us. But Mars. I don’t know what to expect,” Lutarna spoke as she started to make a meatloaf.
“Do you really think there are humans on Mars?” Jr asked.
Lutarna was quite for a moment before replying.
“I don’t know.”

“MARS?!?” all the Squidbeaks questioned in shock.
“Yep, the signal came from Mars,” Lutarna replied.
“We have sent out a few drones from the Octarian base orbiting Earth and found old structural ruins and signs of teriforming on the surface,” Orca explained.
“So humans may possibly still be on Mars?” Pixie questioned, “Do you think they are in trouble?”
“Who knows but I don’t know about yall, but I’m itching to get there,” Joey replied, "Give them good old Squidbeak hello."
“Same feeling,” Lutarna replied, “I’ve already got Sako and the Metro Planners working together to build a space craft that we can pilot to Mars. With my calculations and with Octarian tech, it should only take 3 days to get there. Now, who’s coming?”
“Captain on board Agent 3,” Joey saluted.
Lutarna nodded with a smile.
“I can help for now. Though once back, I know Marina was talking about a project she wanted me to help her on,” Pixie remarked.
“As much as I would like to join, someone has to watch the valley and canyon,” Lulu remarked.
“It’s okay. You got your hatchling to raise. Nobody is going to fault you for not coming,” Marcy remarked, “I’ll go in your place.”
Lulu nodded in agreement.
“I’ll leave the Metro to NILS to make the trip,” Lutarna nodded, “We will also bring Naiko along and a few of the guards to keep watch of the ship while we explore once we get there. Though I'm curious if they will welcome us or find us hostile.”
"You don't think they will welcome us?" Marcy asked.
"Humans are...complicated when it comes to other worldly visitors," Lutarna replied hesitant.
"Either way, somebody on Mars needs help and we are going!" Joey nodded.
All in agreement, the crew were about to disband when another person walked up.
“Room for one more?” the person asked.
Catching alarm from all, the Squidbeaks all pulled their hero gear out and aimed it at the intruder.
“How did you get here?” Pixie asked.
“It’s a common Squidbeak spot,” the person replied with a chuckle, “I’m no threat to ya’ll. I just want to help.”
All in black with the hoodie over his head, a pale hand held onto a squiffer over his shoulders. Recognizing it and the young voice, Lutarna eyes when wide.
“And you are?” Joey demanded.
“Glad you asked,” the person replied as he pulled his the hood down.
Cerulean hair and tentacles flopping down, a blue eye looked at the group. All blinking, their faces turned to Lutarna in other bewilderment before looking back at the newcomer.
“Name’s Gideon.”

"Will do Vulture. Good luck. If you need help, you can always call," Lutarna replied before hanging up.
Though a sinking feeling still lingered. How had Tara survived? Was she in the game? Or using a VR set herself. Lutarna didn't know but right now there wasn't much she could do.
Figuring she needed to do something, she decided to head back to the metro and work on some things herself.
@warriorsofsplatsville
The house wasn't safe for the call. She knew Lilia would just listen in and ask questions.
Setting on the 4th upper floor of Octo Valley's roof, Lutarna calmed herself as she dialed the number T gave her.
Letting it ring, she hoped Vulture would pick up.
"Pick up! Pick up! Please! I don't want to see you hurt," Lutarna thought to herself.
Granted, her and Vulture hadn't had a lot of interaction, she knew him and T were a couple so she knew he meant a lot and with the lingering feeling of trouble on the horizon, the last thing she wanted was to not help when she had info Vulture needed to know.

"Yes, that is correct," Lutarna replied, "As for the head set, I'm wondering if it's modified from octoling gear or something else. Either way it doesn't sound good."
"In the game? I wonder how she would have done that. The game is accessed by VR though. If you don't know, it's basically virtual reality that you can see through and control through a headset. It's possible what ever form she is in, she may have gotten her hands on a head set and got in the system that or. Or possibly, as crazy as it sounds, found a way to make herself digitally part of the system," Lutarna explained.
Lutarna really didn't want to be the one to tell about Wormy, but she didn't feel right one of his dads didn't know.
"Yes but he's being a bit...baby about it. He means well and I think he just doesn't want you to be overly upset. I promise, it's not bad, just...weird circumstances. I promise, he's fine and in no harms way but just talk to him," Lutarna replied.

“Scanning! Scanning!”
Lutarna had already fallen asleep by the main computer in the labs as it was scanning for signals in space. Orca was by her while practicing his juggling; he was up to six balls. It was 11p.m. as Orca was rolling around practicing his juggling when he noticed the clock. Collecting the balls, Orca put them away inside his body has he rolled back to Lutarna.
“Eldest Sister! Come! Wake up! It’s late my dear,” Orca spoke.
Shaking her shoulder, Lutarna sprang up before looking around the room; sleepy face as drool came down her face.
“Wha?? Where??” Lutarna spoke as she tried to rub the sleep out of her eyes.
“It’s late Eldest Sister. We can try this again in the morning. Come, let’s go home,” Orca spoke.
Rubbing her eyes, Lutarna groaned before getting out of the chair and following Orca; Orca holding a hand out for her as she grabbed it. The two were out the door when the computer completed the scan; Lutarna haven forgotten she hadn’t turned it off.
“Scan Complete! One signal sound! Downloading it now!” the system spoke.
Both blinked. Walking back over as the download finished, Lutarna looked over the signal.
“It’s a vocal recording,” Lutarna spoke as she started to play it.
“PLEASE ‘static’ IF ANYBODY CAN HELP US ‘static’ PLEASE BEFORE HE TAKES EVERYTHING,” the voice spoke.
Orca went surprised.
“THAT’S ELDER SISTER’S VOICE!” Orca spoke.
Pulling up a few menus to do more scanning, Lutarna figured out where the signal had come from.
“It’s from Mars.”

Lutarna blinked as she read the message.
"Oh Shell, really? Ours was on Mars but got turned into robots and then turned into a hivemind. Dead now," Lutarna replied back.
Thinking on things, Lutarna got it. Gideon has never been well with his emotions. So he's probably been stewing on this. Though Lutarna felt if she pressed, he might close himself off from her.
"I know him. If he cracks, whatever he is doing, toss him to me. I won't press unless he wants to talk," Lutarna texted.

That actually got a chuckle out of Lutarna.
"Ha, wish! I just don't know where he stands on things so it's making me nervous to ask," Lutarna replied, "And he has been seemingly tired a lot lately so I don't want to push him when he's not in the mood for extra to think about."
"When you get a chance, just...gauge him for me. All I ask," Lutarna continued to write.

Realizing she had gone to fast, Lutarna tried to compose herself.
"I'm not sure how but yes, the digital child was able to make it to the real world. Why or how, I'm not sure. It seems that perhaps the child either met them in the real world or in the digital but Tara is guiding them to fulfill it's wish of bring order to the world which is a bad thing," Lutarna spoke, "The Memeverse was created by Marina who is one of the Idols of Off the Hook. She had made the game to help bring the souls of the Sanitized back together and Smallosk has seemingly taken his place as the final boss of the game. The kid said if they found the bird guy they would electrocute him by putting a special head set on."
Breathing, Lutarna continued.
"How she lived and where she is, I don't know, but yes, it seems Tara is making a move again. But yes, T is fine. I litterally popped into the house to get the number from him. He was just relaxing. Yet, do send him a text and maybe meet up. I think he's missing you quite a bit," Lutarna replied, "And uh...you guys might need to talk about some things."

"T is fine Vulture," Lutarna replies, "Look. This going to sound a bit crazy but believe me, I'm telling the truth. I was out on Salmon Run yesterday when I ran into this octoling kid. Took me a bit to realize he's Smallosk from the Memeverse game Marina had made to help the sanitized. Him alone wasn't a shocker, I've met the little baby before in my world, no, it's what he said. And the more he talked, the more it clicked. Vulture, somehow, Tara is still alive and guiding that kid. The kid talked about her helping him bring world order and that if he met a bird guy, that to capture him and electrocute him."
Her voice was really shaky like she had been scared to death.
"Look, the kid was young and went by Mirai. He was an octoling boy so please watch out. I don't know how far he's traveled yet, but if he's made it to Salmon Run, he might be willing to travel farther. As for Tara, he didn't say where she was," Lutarna continued.

Hearing his voice, Lutarna gave a sigh of relief. He was still alive. She knew T had just called him earlier today but trying to make time to call only made her worry if he wouldn't pick up or not.
"Hey, Vulture! It's Lutarna," Lutarna replied, "Thank cod I got you on the phone. Look, do you have a few minutes? This is really important. Like, your safety important," Lutarna spoke.
