I’ve seen some posts talking abt this weird little moment bw Little and Irving, bc ?? What’s even going on here lads. But I think the moment makes perfect sense when you consider the news they’ve just gotten about the provisions, seeing as Irving is the one who’s been in charge of those provisions.

He oversaw the inspection of the tins. It was his job to make sure all the unsafe food was disposed of, and then it was his job to do the math on how to reduce rations after the culling. We explicitly see him relating this information to the rest of command. And after all that, to find out it was for naught? That the tins he himself deemed safe were still killing them? That he’s been working and worrying about doling out portions of literal poison to his men for years, and he had no idea? Yeah, I’d probably look a little shell shocked too :(

And Little looks over to his friend, and sees him staring into space, obviously going back over all the time he spent agonizing over rations that were killing them anyway… of course he reaches out to try and bring him out of it. I read that interaction as Little telling him, hey, this isn’t your fault, okay?

If the second twelve episodes of the Dungeon Meshi anime keep the same pace as the first, they'll take us up to chapter 56. While I don't think it's likely this is the plan, imagine that's actually where episode 24 caps off, then the series doesn't get renewed. We get a flashback to how Chilchuck met his ex-wife and that's the end of the show.

A spot in my side yard, obscured from all neighbors. Its got flowers and soft grass. I like reading out there when it gets warm

Something something Crozier being able to draw genuine emotions out of Fitzjames, both positive and negative.

Anger/annoyance is a big one of course

But he also made him CRY REAL TEARS

He made him laugh!! While he was exhausted, in pain and nearly dying

He's capable of exposing the real James under all the masks no matter how inpenetrable James thinks they are. No matter how many walls he's build around himself, Crozier can and will break through them, intentionally or not

Robert Coningham: the best dad 🥹

The amount of love Robert conveys to Fitzjames in his letters makes me emotional every time. Fitzjames was so fortunate to have a father who loved and supported him like this. I think about how it's for the best that Robert wasn't alive anymore when Fitzjames went missing in the Arctic... it would have killed him.

I hc that Francis is a gooey, soft, slightly insecure (because Sophia) snuggle bunny in relationships while being a tough-as-nails-hyper-competent Boss Man on the job. He barks orders and solves problems all day, but as soon as he gets home from work, it's all cuddles and nose nuzzles.
