im still thinking about this conversation i had the other week about history. we were talking about museums, and the other person said "i hate when i'm at a history museum and they just have some 2,000 year old bowl. people gawk at it and say it precious and cool it is but its just a bowl. you can still make clay bowls today. so what if its old? theres nothing special about it." and to me that's...crazy. the special thing is that we can still make clay bowls. it's that we can make something that someone else made thousands of years ago. it's that someone's family ate out of that bowl. it's that someone else's family a hundred years later ate out of a bowl just like that. it's that my family eats out of a bowl just like that. isn't it amazing how something as simple as a bowl can connection generations?
