i’ve got no wifi and the only episode i have downloaded on my netflix app the prom episode from the society so let’s talk about grizz shall we?

he comes to prom wearing the Goofiest Outfit!! like idk what that shade of green is and The Bow Tie?? iconic. this weirdly places him as like the jokester of the group, which i hadn’t gotten about him beforehand.

then he gets drunk as fuck and i guess they’re messing around with fabric paint? bc we see allie doing this too, decorating sweatpants. but grizz is at prom, drunk as hell, wearing painted and bedazzled sweats over his slacks.

again He’s So Drunk. he wins a drinking contest against clark and u sort of see something come over him right after that? and he tells them that he was going to leave them all in the past and then he physically actually walks away.

we don’t know if he doesn’t anything before we see him again, but when we do, he is plopping his drunk self down next to the only gay guy that he knows, and in the future we know that he probs had a little crush on him. and there’s no purpose to this, other than that grizz just… wanted to sit with sam, and maybe the thought that he was gonna leave west ham reminded him of Why he was going to leave west ham sent him into a little Oh Right I’ve Been Repressing My Sexuality For How Long spiral.

the whole scene is pretty random if we don’t realize that they’re gonna end up being a thing. but it sets a lot up. shows us that grizz genuinely knows no sign language while at the same time showing us that they don’t really have a problem with communication anyway, when grizz tells sam that he speaks fine and sam opens up a little by telling grizz that he hated high school.

which Brings Us Full Circle i suppose, as this little confession by sam probably sent grizzs thoughts back to… Wow I’ve Been Repressing This For A Reason Haven’t I. but also … sam is saying this Past Tense!!! so maybe maybe maybe… this is when grizz first felt the inkling that he could just start being open about things here in this strange new-old place with these people who maybe are trying to be themselves too.
