Kinematics - physics/ mechanics
5 main SUVAT equations:
v = u + at
v ² = u ² + 2as
s = (v+u/2) t
s = vt -1/2at ²
s = ut + 1/2at ²
For simple questions where 3 quantities are given and a fourth one needs to be found, list down SUVAT and start writing the quantities one by one. You’ll notice one quantity needs to be found, 3 are given and one quantity isn't needed at all so we can just ignore it
Go ahead and find the equation that suits the quantities you've specified the best, and then solve the equation
Velocity changes (acceleration) when there is a change in its magnitude, a change in its direction or both. That's why when a satellite is travelling at a steady speed it is actually accelerating as it constantly changes direction
Distance time graph
gradient = instantaneous speed
straight line graph shows that the object is travelling at a constant speed/ uniform speed
area under graph doesn't represent any physical quantity
there is no line that will slope downwards, no negative gradient as distance never decreases

Displacement time graph
gradient = velocity
area under graph doesn't represent any physical quantity
slope at any point shows the instantaneous velocity
slope joining any two points on the graph represents the average velocity over the time interval
a line with a negative gradient would indicate motion going backwards
stationary - object stays at position 'x' all of the time!
negative gradient indicates it is moving in the opposite direction with uniform velocity
mostly same as distance time graph - the only difference is the downward slope
