Really genuinely sorry for the radio silence, I’ve moved accounts because of some things that happened and I’m now more active on the account @scramblecat ! It isn’t MSA based, and I am truly sorry about that, I still love MSA and the whole MSA community with all my heart !! I really have lagged behind and avoided checking this account just for fear that I’ve fallen too far back and have been silent for too long, but when I finally did all the responses to posts I’ve made made me incredibly grateful, thank you all  <3 I’m not going to shut this account down, however it won’t be the active one of the two.

And I’m still a big, big fan of Mystery skulls Animated. But since I’ve started watching several awesome anime’s my hype for MSA is a little bit… Numbed down? (Started somewhere at the end of january) I still have plenty of ideas for fan art and the hype I have for MSA was so intense for a year and a half, one of the longest I’ve ever been. But I’m a little bit afraid that once the 4th video arrives and it may not be right up to my taste, that I just might…. Lose interest? 

I know it’s a silly thing to be afraid of and I’m still looking forward to the 4th video, but that’s the ‘danger’ with long hiatuses for me. I used to be a huge fan of Gravity Falls and yes even Captain Underpants. But ever since the former ended and the latter hasn’t any movies planned, my interest was just….Gone! With Wreck It Ralph, the sequel was so bad that it kinda ruined the first movie for me.

But, there have also been fandoms for me who just went dormant and after a new piece of art, fanfic or media the hype was back full force. 

I met so many awesome people in the MSA fandom and it inspired me so much with my own art and animation. Plus meeting Luis Dubuc and seeing him live in concert was one of the best days I’ve ever had! So don’t fear, I’m not disinterested in it at all, but it’s now a ‘normal’ obsession for me instead of an all consuming ‘Thinking about it all the time’ obsession. Which is probably better for me, but annoying for any followers who only follow me purely for MSA content ^_^; 

So yes, there will be more fan art to come, but mixed with other art as well!

Sometimes I have an entire conversation with Ripley before stepping back and realizing how cool that is.

I arrive home late from a potluck and the house is dark. From the bottom of the stairs I say, "Hey Ripley, I'm back."

"Wanna come out," he answers, which is a pretty standard reply when I first get home. It's midnight, way past his bedtime, but he hasn't been out of his cage at all today because we're dog sitting my mom's very untrustworthy dog (with whom Ripley is unfortunately fascinated). So I say, "Sure."

As I walk into his room he lifts up a foot in a way I recognize as meaning "I'm ready to step onto your hand," so as I open his door I say, "Let's go in the kitchen." I offer him the chance to poop in the trash can, but he declines with a small clicking noise. I ask him if he would sit on a chair, but warn him that first I need to move Coat Shirt off of it (shirt is his catch-all word for clothing), and he makes a little "hm" of acknowledgment.

After he steps onto the back of the chair I say, "I've gotta go downstairs, can I leave you up here for a minute?"

"Okay," he answers as I leave the room.

Upon returning I say, "Thanks for waiting in here." It's taken years of practice for me to talk to Ripley like he's a person (he is), but now it's second nature. He gets insistent if I'm quiet for too long.

"Do want a carrot," Ripley says, leaning toward the fridge.

"I can get you a carrot." My usual reply when he asks for a healthy food. I hand him a baby carrot from the fridge.

He takes a couple bites and shakes the carrot around gingerly in his foot. "I like it."

"I'm glad. Can I touch you?" I reach out to pet his back but he gives me a subtle look: a twitch of his pupils and a fractional declination of his head that means "no thank you." Ignoring this is a serious offense.

"Okay, no touch. A kiss, then?" He leans toward me and squints: an invitation. As I lean back, he makes a trilling sound and smushes the top of his head against my face. "Thank you," I say.

After several more kisses I ask him what kind of bedtime treat he wants. "A peanut."

A lot of our conversation is verbal, sure, but a good deal of it is also nonverbal. Most parrots don't talk, but all of them communicate with their flock in very precise, intentional ways.

So it occurred to me that ‘grawlix’ is sort of an obscure and specialized word, but what I didn’t know until I was googling around just now is that it was actually invented by cartoonist Mort Walker in his 1980 book The Lexicon of Comicana, in which he categorizes (and invents terminology for) all kinds of visual cues and shorthand commonly used in comics

In other news, this is now right up there with The Meaning of Liff as ‘books of made up words I desperately need to own”
