Solo Leveling Novel Rambles Chapter 25-28 (chapter 11 part 1(?) of the original)

Okay, why was the spoon scene excluded? I definitely would have liked to see that happen in the manhwa. A lot of Sung Jinwoo's personality seems to be lost in the manhwa

So if a guild can't maintain the minimum number, it will be disbanded. Isn't that number three? It might be different in the novel, and I just haven't gotten there yet, but three doesn't seem like a hard number to keep

Oh, so Yoo Jinho's brother is 31 while Jinho is 22. You know who else could be 31? CHOI JONG-IN-Sorry, off-topic

Jinho's expressions are quite different from the manhwa. Both are good, just different

It's nice they went into more detail about how the 30 billion won building worked. I was confused about that in the novel since I wasn't familiar with the concept

It's also good to see what rank Yoo Jinho thought Jinwoo was. Apparently, he assumed Jinwoo was a B-rank or higher, so Jinwoo getting stronger at this point wasn't that big of a deal to him

The novel really goes into Jinwoo's thought process. While it's nice to see it in novel form, it makes sense why they took it out in the manhwa (Okay, but Jinwoo, stop giving the poor child a heart attack-)

Oh, the run with Jinah didn't happen? I guess it makes sense, but I thought it was a nice bonding moment for them. Until Jinwoo ran off on his own at least-

The novel also goes into detail about the blessed versus the cured random box too. I don't remember if the manhwa mentioned it, but I think it just glazed over it

Not saying Jinwoo in the manhwa is dumb, but he seems smarter in the novel

The tone also suits Jong-In, where it's somewhat calm with a threatening undertone if something were to happen to Yoon-Ho

Just more of how I enjoy the way they are there for each other and comfort each other in their own way. They don't talk about their emotions but are aware of when the other is feeling emotional and are just calmed by each other's presence

The ironic thing is that no one except her believed Il-Hwan was alive yet no one knew for sure. Everyone assumed he was dead, and it was only later that everyone was right. Kyung-Hye knew he was dead yet until the fight with the monarchs

Wait,have you ever watch dungeon meshi because imagine this? The s rank hunters went to this dungeon to slay enemies but imagine you make food out of the enemies. Especially,the yummy yummy red dragons and water spirits. Oh,you can't forget the delicious posseses armour which are possessed by mollusks. Let's not forget the scrumptious mushroom enemies.

Ohhh, I haven't watched it, but I love the idea! It reminds me of that one fanfic, It's Time For Another Good Idea, Bad Idea, where Sung Jinwoo had a cooking channel and made food out of monsters and other stuff he got in dungeons

My thoughts on what Jinwoo would do in that dungeon are basically what happens in that fanfic with him just trying to cook whatever he wants and eating it since he's immune to poisons.

As for the others (only going to be doing the Korean S-Ranks except Go Gunhee (because he wouldn't be in the dungeon) since I've thought about them more, but feel free to ask for more):

For Cha Haein, everyone would probably make sure she gets safe food (gotta protect the youngest of the group)

Baek Yoonho would likely do the same as Jinwoo but in a more sane and calm way

Choi Jongin would probably help with cooking rather than gathering the ingredients (I like to headcanon he's a good cook because of how well he controls his flames. His powers aren't that helpful with gathering ingredients since the only way for him to get them is to use his fire-)

Eunseok isn't allowed near the food alone (for some reason, I think he would not be that great of a cook. Like, he can cook well if he's being supervised, but if he's left by himself, he tends to take shortcuts that he shouldn't)

Ma Dongwook probably helps the others look for and gather edible ingredients

Lim Taegyu just eats whatever looks fine (he may regret it later)

Min Byung-Gyu heals anyone who needs it because they got food poisoning (because at least one of them is getting it. Probably Lim Taegyu honestly)

Feel free to ask/add more to this! I don't know much about Dungeon Meshi, but I'm open to hearing more about it

Y'know Woochul was also one of the first ships I got into, and I feel like their dynamic is such a breath of fresh air.

There's no tried and true rivalry, not (alot) of misunderstandings, just two dudes chilling out with each other.

Two people that are rounded characters on their own, but also make each other better. Whether it be by Jin-woo limiting the havoc he wreaks when he's fighting (and failing everytime because he's too damn strong) or the way Jin-chul subtly, but insistently, looks out for Jin-woo makes my heart fuzzy and warm.

I just think they're a ship that has something most other ships I ship don't- a mature understanding of one another and compromise. (I ship too many enemies to lovers ships man. Sue me I like red and blue)

Anyways just wanted to word vomit a lil' bit sorry about that lmao

I haven't talked much about Woochul/Chulwoo, but I like how they always seemed to just click together in the fanfics I've read. A progression of getting to know each other and subtly helping each other in their own way (Jinchul looking out for Jinwoo when Jinwoo is still weak while Jinwoo looks out for Jinchul when he becomes an S-Rank in return)

While my headcanons on their relationship vary since I haven't thought about them in a while, I do think they have a good understanding of each other, despite having different life experiences. I also think they would communicate fairly often but not actually say what they mean and instead, give hints that the other picks up on quickly. So they communicate well with each other but in their own way. I like to think that Jinwoo enjoys teasing Jinchul from time to time too (That one moment in the side stories where Jinwoo teased Jinchul about the drawing of Beru? Priceless)

I also like to imagine that their morals line up as well, which is why I think they're very compatible (Side note but in my mind, Jinwoo with Haein: Would save the world for her; Jinwoo with Jinchul: Would sacrifice the world for him)

I actually think all my top ships have a mature understanding of each other (Choibaek do understand each other, they just pretend not to sometimes, especially in public-), but Woochul/Chulwoo are one of the more popular ones that are like that. And you're good! Most of my ships start out as enemies to lovers haha I mean, look at my main one-

So I was looking at the Hunters Guild's intro again

And it could be a translation issue and continuity issue, but it's interesting how it says that the Hunters Guild is the only one to have recruited two S-Ranks when the Fiend Guild had four at first, and the White Tiger Guild also had at least two S-Ranks (still don't know what happened to Eun-Seok before the third Jeju raid).

So one theory I had was that maybe in the Fiend Guild's case, the other S-Ranks besides Tae-Gyu were not exactly "recruited" since they were the founding members. The same thing applies to the White Tiger guild with Baek Yoon-Ho and Min Byung-Gyu being founding members.

Then, Choi Jong-in could have started off as a member of the Hunters Guild (correct me if I'm wrong and Choi Jong-In did create the guild since I haven't gotten there in the novel yet) because the game dossier only says he got a license, which he could have gotten so that he could take over as guild master of the Hunters Guild. And Cha Hae-in joined later too, so she was also recruited

I was going to make a separate post about this, but since you brought up-

Some headcanons I have about Dragon Monarch!Choi Jong-In (mostly based on books about dragons I've read in the past and your headcanons about Destruction Monarch!Cha Hae-In):

Dragons like to hoard specific types of objects, such as vases, shoes, etc. Jong-In likes to collect gold things

Jong-in can turn into a dragon. The first few times he did it were excruciating because it felt like he was being ripped apart while transforming. It gets a little better later on, but it's still very painful, so he doesn't rely on it too much

Dragons have their own language since Jong-In learns fairly quickly and tends to communicate with the dragons in it

Jong-In isn't that affectionate with the dragons, but he's fond of them and tends to help them hunt and get them gifts for their hoards

Being with the dragons is calming to Jong-In, so he checks up on them often to make sure they're doing okay also sometimes sleeps beside them because of how comfortable he feels around them

Jong-In actually acts like a father figure to the dragons without realizing it. The dragons treat him with respect in response and address him as "Your Highness" even though Jong-In tells them they don't need to do that

When he starts experiencing intense emotions, his dragon horns and scales appear as a sort of defense mechanism. He has tight control over his mana, but the physical changes aren't something he's used to suppressing yet

Jong-In doesn't need to wear the glasses anymore since his eyesight got better but still wears them to protect his eyes since he is still sensitive to bright lights

Jong-In can breathe fire out of his mouth but chooses not to since he has less control over fire that way

Jong-In enjoys fighting alongside the dragons since he doesn't need to worry about them being hurt by his fire as much

Was working on a fanfic when I realized something

So in the ATLA intro, it says:

"Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked"

And I was thinking

Isn't that basically what happened in Solo Leveling when Choi Jong-In awakened and later took the spot of the top guild? Like, the guilds were mostly fine on their own with a little competition between the Fiend and White Tiger guilds because of their history but still okay. Then, the Hunters guild comes out of nowhere and takes that spot?

Not saying that Choi Jong-In would lead an attack against other nations, but it could be that the four nations were just equal in standing until the fire nation suddenly became stronger in terms of power (maybe they used that comet for something else), which could lead to conflict?
