The girl who knew too much
There are going to be major setbacks with this chapter. I am so sorry about the whole not updating thing. But I mean, it's only been like 4-6 months since I updated last. I just started watching Teen Wolf with my boyfriend so it's like I am falling in love all over again. So here I am updating this shiiiiii. There are so many different points of view in this chapter, so it's really choppy.

3rd Person p.o.v. "Cora," Alex said as she stood up slowly. She teetered back and forth on her heels for a minute before Cora realized something was wrong. Cora went to steady the girl but was too far, it happened too quickly.  "Derek.."Alex cried out before falling face first at Cora's feet. "Oh, what the hell! Peeeteeeer!!" Cora yelled, scooping up the unconscious body of her brother's lover. She could hear the erratic heartbeat, but even worse she could feel it as her arms were around the girl. "What?" Peter asked running back into the room. "What the hell is that? What the hell is wrong with her?" He asked, no, of course, he wasn't concerned, Alex passing out was a mere annoyance for him. But this was so much more than just Alex herself, this was something so strong in her soul that it was shutting her body down completely. "I don't know but she's burning up. Like, I think she might be regenerating, I'm not sure. We should call Deaton, He will know what to do." Cora said she had to set the girl down because the skin to skin contacting was literally burning her. Alex screamed out and both wolves jumped, it was an ear piercing scream that left their heart erratic and their hairlines sweating. Footsteps were heard running towards them, and then the door flung open. "Alex?!" The newcomer yelled out. "What happened? What did you do?" they asked in an accusatory voice. "Nothing! We didn't do anything, Stiles." Cora said and Alex screamed again, this time louder, her eyes were still shut. "She's regenerating. I was told she will only do that when she is under a lot of stress, or when her body is, I dunno weak or something. Obviously, you did something." Stiles fired back. His blood was boiling, she may not have been his anymore, but she was still his best friend, he still loved her. "I'm calling Deaton. Scott can get answers out of you asshats later." Stiles said before pulling out his phone and calling the good doctor. ~~~~~~~ "How has she been acting lately?" Deaton asked. He had gotten to the flat not even 10 minutes after Stiles called. Alex, her state was getting worse. She was stuck in the middle of regenerating, her skin was smoking, her clothes slowly burning themselves off, but every time she would start to finish the process, she would scream out and start convulsing. The only word, the only coherent sound she made was Derek's name repeated like a mantra. Of course, as they all told him how off she had been, he already had a possible diagnosis. He wouldn't tell them until he was 100% sure, but until then, he gave Alex, a new I.V. and she was to sit in an ice bath until he got back. "I will return as soon as I can until then, continue adding more ice to the bath and cold water if necessary, the medication, or rather, herb running through her veins, make sure she won't get too hot, even though she has to regenerate, for some reason her body isn't letting her. It is similar to what Scott told me happened on that school trip after the fight. After she thought Derek died, she wouldn't allow herself to heal." Deaton said. "Just keep her as cool as you can until I get back. I will hurry." He said before leaving them. Scott showed up sometime later, along with Allison and eventually Lydia. ~~~~~~~~ Deaton's p.o.v. "Marrin, please. A 16-year-old girl is burning herself to the brink of death and then healing herself so that she can do it all over, tell me what you know." I say to my sister, I've already a pretty good idea what exactly was going on but I just needed a tad more information, just a little confirmation. "Sister." "It's simple, brother, and I know you know what is going on. So just tell them already." Says, my sister, I looked at her with pleading eyes. "I know things are hard right now, but please, just tell me what you know," I said my voice steady but annoyed.  We share a knowing glance, she was after all not allowed to say too much about anything. "Fine." She says, taking a deep breath and rolling her eyes. "Alex Blackridge, the Guardian of Scott McCall and his pack of misfitted teenagers, has a Sire bond with Derek Hale, the one who created the pack of misfitted teenagers by giving them the bite." She says, with a steady voice, and equally steady eyes. "Because of the Sire bond, Alex believes she is and probably is, in love with Derek, but it is a link between them on their souls, well, more accurately on her soul, that causes her to crave his presence all the time, always. Her body craves his body and her soul craves his, it can be a beautiful thing, or it can be a terrible, terrible thing that can be used against the sired.  The sire, Derek, can manipulate the sired, Alex, into doing basically anything he wants her to do." My sister's eyes meet mine and her lips are in a thin line. "Her body is shutting down, Deaton. She needs Derek and she needs him soon, or else you won't be able to keep the fever down and she might just burn up. Her body can sense that it is shutting down so it is trying to regenerate, but she isn't even strong enough for that, according to what you've told me, Brother." "How do we break the link?" I ask. Hoping there was another way, knowing there might now be. "You know as well as I that the Sire bond can be broken only one way." She says confirming my fears, I sigh in slight defeat but knowing that Derek Hale will do the right thing, was a slight victory.   ~~~~~~ 3rd Person p.o.v. "What the hell does that mean?" Stiles asked looking at Deaton with wide eyes, his heart racing as he processed what this meant. "It means exactly what it sounds like," Deaton says. "There is a link, a bond, think of it as the link of a chain. Alex's soul is linked to that of Derek Hale. The effects of a sire bond, resemble the effects of love, but they are stronger. Alex will do everything she can to please Derek, she will do anything he says. She will protect her Sire with her own life." He concludes, and Scott sets a reassuring hand on Stiles' shoulder, smelling the panic that was seeping from his friend. "How is it broken?" Lydia asks. "If it's a link it can be broken right?" "Right," Deaton confirms before telling the group how it is to be broken. "We all know Derek is far too self-conceited to do that." Barked Stiles, losing any stray hope he had left, of getting her back. "That is not true, Stiles. Derek is a Hale, I know my brother, he will do the right thing." "What do we do about Alex? How do we fix her now?" Scott asked, gritting his teeth as he thought back to how Alex had been the last few hours.
~~Flash-Back~~ "Oh my god..." Lydia said as she walked in and took in sight of everyone, and more importantly, Alex. The girl's skin was literally glowing, small almost unnoticeable flames dancing under her skin. That wasn't even the worst part, Alex had been screaming for almost an hour, her voice was cracked,  and every now and then Scott would catch a scent of blood, and then she would stop screaming to produce this, inhumane cry, then he would smell burning flesh and smoke would leave her mouth before she started screaming again. But when Deaton left, that's when she got worse. Every time they put ice in the water, not even within 30 minutes it would be boiling again, her skin was evaporating the water around her. She also started vomiting up black blood, it was seeping from her ears, her eyes, her nose, she was dying and everyone knew it. Scott could literally smell it on her, in the loft, everywhere. He could smell it clinging to everyone around him, including himself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "For now, I can put her in a coma-like state, I will have to pump her full of drugs, and keep those drugs on a constant flow, but until we find Derek, it's all we can do to keep her alive," Deaton said and the others just nodded grimly. Tears bubbling in every pair of eyes, except for Stiles' they were cascading down his cheeks, tiny rivers he didn't bother on wiping away because it was useless. "H-how do we contact Derek?" Stiles asked, his voice a lot smaller than anticipated. Making him feel even smaller than he already did.  "I don't know, but we will. Scott, let's take her to the shelter, I have everything I need there. Then I want the rest of you to go home, and let me worry about this." ------------------------------------ "Where is she?" Stiles asks it was night and him, Scott and Allison had all met Lydia at the school. "Over here." "Lydia?" Stiles asks, approaching her slowly. "It's the same thing. Same thing as the pool. I got into the car heading somewhere totally different and ended up here. And you told me to call you if there's a dead body." She says, her hand coming up to her lips. "You found a dead body?' He asks, his eyes wide and he looks over at Scott, then Allison. "Not yet." "Not yet"? What do you mean "not yet"? Lydia, you're supposed to call us after you find the dead body." Stiles says, his hand running through his hair. "Oh, no, I'm not doing that again. You find the dead body from now on." Lydia says, her hand shaking slightly. "How are we supposed to find the dead body? You're always the one finding the dead body." "Guys. I found the dead body." Scott says his hand out and pointing to the body laid over the sign. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Deaton's p.o.v. Alex's body is strongly fighting the medication that is pumping through her, but she is much more stable now. It wasn't until now that she stopped screaming. Her skin no longer has any flames under it and occasionally she will start convulsing and let out a growl.   She hasn't really stopped oozing black blood, and every time she convulses she vomits up the blackness. I'm not sure how much longer she can do this, how much longer her body can, but if I can keep her body stabilized she'll be able to survive longer and maybe we can find Derek. Hopefully, we can find Derek.   I try his phone again and get nothing. Suddenly there is movement next to me in the tub of ice that Scott moved her into when we got here. Ice falls over the groundwater splattering on everything. Alex was sitting up now and water was dripping off of her body, she looked around and tilted her head. "Derek?" She asked. "Derek where are you?" and then the screams started again and this time she did regenerate, her entire body burning and then the flames kicked in and her body started to pull up and the screaming didn't stop until she fell back into the water, which evaporated as soon as she got in."DEEERREEEKK!!" She screamed and then she was gone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cora, Scott, Stiles, and Lydia all stood in the locker room, Cora cleaning up the blood from her face and they're all asking if she's okay because she literally just took a weight to the face. She fought an alpha and lost, as assumed. "I said I'm fine. " She said, annoyed by the presences of the teenagers, who in her eyes had done nothing to help. "Do you realize how suicidally crazy that was? What were you thinking going after them?" Stiles asked, his curiosity always gets the best of him. But he couldn't keep the edge out of his voice as the girl he loved laid dying because of another man. "I did it for Boyd. None of you were doing anything." She spat coldly and turned around, still holding the rag to her head. "We're trying," Scott said Lydia and Stiles were shifting uncomfortably. "And you're failing. You're just a bunch of stupid teenagers running around, thinking that you can stop people from getting killed. But all you do is show up late. All you really do is find the bodies." Cora said before walking off. "She's definitely a Hale."Stiles pushed passed, Scott and Lydia. "Mm. I'll make sure she gets home." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Derek?"  The girl asked she had stopped by her house and grabbed some clothes, and now her body was pulling her towards him, she was in the woods walking around. She had no idea where she was going, or where she would end up, all she knew was that Derek was close. Every few steps she would stop, and puke up more of that vile black blood. Her nose would start bleeding every now and then. She was getting weaker, the strength her body had gained for the regeneration already failing her.   Back pressed to a tree, she slid down and held her hair out of her face as she threw up more of that black blood. And then she was unconscious on the ground of the woods, no one knowing where she was.  But he felt it, he felt the tug on his soul. He was feeling her die, and he wasn't going to just sit around anymore. Walking through the woods, not knowing where he was going, or where he would end up, he followed the tug on his body, his soul. Eventually, he found the girl, slumped against a tree, black blood on her shirt, dripping from her nose and black tears fell from her eyes. He scooped her up and carried her back to his loft, the only safe place he knew, and by the time he got there, she was already waking up. Her eyes fluttered open once, then twice and finally, they opened. Her heart sped up as she took in the sight of Derek, she was already feeling better. Her body finally healing itself, her strength returning. "Where the hell have you been? And don't say that you needed to be alone for a while because that is the single worst excuse ever." She said, her tone steady but her heart racing in her chest. She was hit with a wave of grief, and then regret and just completely utter brokenness." Oh. God, I'm sorry. You really did need to be alone, didn't you?" She asked and  Derek's forehead touched her. "I'm here now. And you were safe. Trust me." He said and a humorless laugh left her throat. She scrunched her eyes closed. "I was dying, Derek. I wasn't safe. I was literally burning myself to death, and the only thing I could think, was where is he? Where is Derek?"She drew a deep breath. "Why is this happening to me, Derek?" She asked, tears falling down her face and Derek physically flinched at her words. "I don't know, Alex. But I swear to god I will find out." His phone buzzed, he ignored it. Again. "How do you feel?" He asked and she just brought her lips up to his and kissed him, fully. "I'm okay. I feel better, stronger. There's this recital tonight, that Ms. Blake set up for all the losses, but I don't want to go, and I definitely don't want to go without you, just, please. Scott and Stiles are going to be there, and they don't know I'm better, and I just, I wanna surprise everyone. I just, I have this feeling, something's going to happen tonight, and I don't wanna go alone." She said and kind of tilted her head to look up at him. "I'll be there." He said, pressing another kiss to her delicate lips. Then he called Deaton back and let him know that Alex was okay, but he hung up before Deaton could tell him what was happening. ~~~~~~ "Philosophers?" Stiles asked glancing at the phone. "And guardians, which after last night has to mean something like law enforcement, right?" Stiles' heart raced at what Allison had just said. Guardians. "Stiles, you have to tell your dad. Tell him whatever you need but you have to get him to believe. Tell your dad. Warn him. " Allison said but Stiles couldn't breathe. "Okay, okay, okay, I know,"  Stiles said and suddenly his breathing was harsh and his mind was running with ideas. "And Alex. It might mean Alex. She’s a guardian... Oh god." "What are you gonna do?" Cora asked from next to him.   "I'm gonna tell him the truth. And I'm gonna need your help." Stiles said, a nervous hand running through his hair. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Come on, Scott. Shouldn't you leave the interrogations to someone like Stilinski?" Ms. Morrel asked, standing in her guidance room. "Are you the one killing people?" "Are you listening to my heartbeat?"She said slowly and Scott listened closely.  "No. I'm not the one killing people." She said and the even, steady, Thump, Thump, Thump.   "Truth is, I'm all that stands between Deucalion and the lives of your friends. I've been the one pulling the leash taut when they're salivating for a bite." "What do you mean?" "He wants a true Alpha in his pack. He thinks it's you. And a little distraction like a few human sacrifices isn't gonna dissuade him from the prize." Morrell said and Scott's heart thudded even harder against his chest. "I'm not an Alpha." "But you're well on your way, aren't you?" She asked, a knowing tone in her voice. Her brother had told her everything. "Then what is he waiting for? What does he want me to do?" Scott asked he was on the side of a losing fight. "He wants to make a killer out of you. That's what he does." Morrell said and Scott almost flinched. "But if I kill someone, I can't be a true Alpha, right?" "Exactly. You want the psychologist's perspective? He's an obsessive who both desires you and is threatened by you. If the obsessive can't have the object of his desire he'll choose to destroy it instead. You'll either willingly become part of his pack or he'll make a killer out of you, destroying your potential to be a true Alpha." She said and the way that she spoke of the pack was in disgust.   "Neither of those is ever going to happen." Scott declared. "Don't be so sure. You're playing his game. And while you're trying to figure out what to do next, he's thinking ten moves ahead, with checkmate already in sight." She said, and Scott walked out of the room, defeat laying heavy on his chest. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Okay, okay, okay, okay. Yes, okay. No, oh... Sheriff: Stiles? Stiles: Dad, I'm sorry, okay? I'm just... I'm trying to... I'm just trying to figure out how to start here." Stiles said he was pacing in his room, with Cora sitting on the bed and his dad staring at him. "Hey, I don't have this kind of time." Sheriff Stilinski snapped. "Um, for the last year, you've had all these cases that you couldn't figure out, right? I mean, all the murders involving Kate Argent, and then Matt killing all the people who had drowned him, and all these murders right now. It's like... it's like you've been playing a losing game." Stiles said and his dad raised his brow and puffed out through his nose. "Stiles, the last thing I need right now is a job performance review from my own son." "I know. Okay, see, but that's... that's just it, dad. The... the reason that you're losing the game is 'cause you've never been able to see the whole board. I need to show you the whole board." Stiles said before he labeled all of the pieces of a chess board. "Scott and Derek are werewolves?" Sheriff asked his son in a confused voice, disbelief evident on his face. "Yes." "And Kate Argent was a werewolf?" "Hunter. That's... purple's hunter." Stiles said as his father began looking irritated. "Along with Allison and her father,"  Cora said, she still was feeling weak from the gith. "Yeah, and... and my friend Deaton, the veterinarian, is a Kanima?" "Well, no, no, no, no, no. He's a druid, okay? Well, we think." Stiles said and his father scrunched up his face. "So who's the Kanima?" "Jackson." "No, Jackson's a werewolf." "Jackson was the Kanima first, and then Peter and Derek killed him and he came back to life as a werewolf. Now, he's in London." "Who's the Darack? " "It's da-rock." "We don't know yet." Both Cora and Stiles said at the same time. "But he was killed by werewolves?" "Slashed up and left for dead." "We think." The teenagers said at the same time, again, earning a look from Sheriff Stilinski. " Yeah. Why was Jackson the Kanima?" " 'Cause sometimes, the shape that you take reflects the person that you are." "And what shape would an increasingly confused and angrier-by-the-second father take?" His dad asked, his face showing just how angry he was becoming. "Uh, that would be more of an expression like the one you're currently wearing. " "Yeah." The sheriff said before standing up and making his way to the door. "Dad... Dad, would you... I can prove it, okay? Look, she's one of them. A werewolf."  But nobody thought to look back at Cora, who was looking more and more disoriented by every passing second. "Stiles, Stiles! That's enough." His father yelled and Stiles almost shrunk back but, he knew his dad needed to know. Needed to believe. "Dad, can you please just hold on? You ready?" Cora stood from the bed, her body swaying slightly.  "All right, dad, just watch this, okay?" And then Cora fell limply to the floor, her head bleeding again. "Call an ambulance." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "It's philosophers as in teachers. Allison and her father just found Mr. Westover." Scott said into the phone. "That makes sense. Tara, she wasn't always a cop. She used to teach middle school." Stiles said, racking his brain for anything that would help, "Then the last one's gonna be another teacher." "Yeah, but there's dozens of them, Scott, and they're all headed home," Stiles said, feeling the desperation settle on his chest, his voice uneven. "No. No, they're not. They're all going to the recital." Scott said glancing at the school doors.  Stiles, still at the hospital ran over to his father. "What did you see the night at the bank when Scott was trying to save Deaton?" He asked, knowing well enough what his father had seen. "Nothing." Came the reply. Stiles gritted his teeth and forced himself to breathe. "Dad, you saw him healing himself after he tried crossing the Mountain ash. " "I don't know what I saw." "You saw something that you can't explain." "Stiles, I have seen a lot of things I can't explain in this town. That doesn't make 'em supernatural and it doesn't make 'em real. They just found another body. That's real. And that's the lead I'm following." Said the sheriff, Stiles looked at him with desperation in his eyes. "Yeah, and another teacher's going to die if you don't start listening to me." And that's what set the Sheriff off. "I am listening! I have been listening!" Roared his father, tears began to fill Stiles' eyes and he shrank back, everyone in the room, the floor even, had heard his father, who had turned around and was walking away. "You just don't believe," Stiles said, the realization of it settling.  "Mom would've believed me." And with that, his father stopped dead in his tracks and pivoted on his heel, to look at his son.
And then it was time to go to the recital.
Derek, escorted Alex, and as soon as she seen Scott, and Stiles, and Lydia and Allison her heart began to race and she ran over to them. "ALEX?!" Stiles basically shouted and everyone turned to see the blonde standing in front of them, she was perfectly okay. You could have never guessed that less than 24 hours ago she was a steaming, puking mess. She was in perfect health, and when Derek appeared behind her, a hand on her back and it was probably Stiles who figured out that Derek didn't know first.   "How are you feeling?" Allison asked and the blonde just nodded. "Supernatural healing factors, they work wonders. I could do anything." Alex said with a slight laugh, but the smile fell from her lips when she was filled in about the teachers, and the fact that a teacher here was going to die. Lydia pulled Scott and Alex to the side to talk. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alex's P.O.V. "I thought you were going home," Scott said as Lydia hugged her arms to her body.   "I can't. I don't know why I am the one that keeps finding the bodies, but maybe if I just stopped trying to fight it, I'd find them before it happens, maybe with enough time for someone like you to do something about it." She said and out of habit I slipped my hand into hers, giving her a reassuring squeeze. "You get me the time, and I'll do something about it," Scott said and I nodded. "We swear to God, we will," I said and I felt Scott grab my hand and then Lydia's. We all went back to the gym for the recital and stood around to watch. The music was beautiful, and with the hand on my back, I felt like everything might go okay. It wasn't until I got a gut sink feeling in my stomach and my heart escalated that I found that something was wrong.   "Where's Lydia?" I asked and everyone just kinda shrugged for a second, but Scott felt my rising panic and as soon as I ran outside to find the redhead, Stiles and Scott were right behind me. "Lydia?" I yelled. "Lydia?" Scott. "Lydia?" Stiles. "Guys something's wrong. Something is really really wrong." I said, and then I heard it. It was so loud and I felt it in every part of my body. Every atom of me vibrated and cried and screamed. I fell to the ground, Scott following me while Stiles asked what was wrong, all I could do was give my own pathetic scream...As soon as it stopped, I took off, leaving Scott and Stiles behind me.  I came to the door where I knew she was and when I looked in I seen something I had wished I hadn't. Lydia tied to a chair, a wire around her throat, and Ms. Blake, Peter's girlfriend,  standing behind her. I heard footsteps and seen Scott sneak into the room from the other door. "No, please..." Lydia cried and Scott pressed a hand to my shoulder. "One last philosopher." And as soon as I smelt the irony scent of blood, I ran out, fangs born and claws out. I didn't even get one godforsaken hit in before I sen to the ground, blood pouring from my mouth, a deep wound in my stomach and unconscious, but before I was out, Jennifer whispered something in my ear. "I'll be coming for you soon, Guardian."

"Derek... Can we talk about it now..? Please. The feelings are getting overwhelming again and I just want you to talk to me about them. We've been here for a week. Doing all these amazing things, but we haven't tal-" I am cut off by Derek kissing me. It's a deep kiss, tasting like cinnamon and tingling my lips. He gives me butterflies in places I didn't know you could get them. We kissed and kissed for what seemed like hours. I loved him.. He was on top of me with his hand in my hair and his other on my neck. When he kissed my neck I shivered. He had found my sweet spot on my neck earlier this week and every time he kisses I want more. But he refuses to do anything yet, considering I'm still technically a.. and he wants it to be special and he wants me to be sure I'm ready. Apparently, he can still tease me though, and if it weren't for the fact that I heal from every Hickie he gives me, I have a feeling mom would freak out.
"Oh my god," Cora yelled as she shut the door. She should know to knock before she comes in but of course, she doesn't. Derek and I laughed and then the overwhelming feeling of loss and defeat filled the room again. He was so torn up about Boyd, which was understandable. If I could take his pain more than I already have I would. Seeing what happened through his eyes, every single night, when we slept, it was overwhelming. I haven't had a decent night sleep all week but I'm not gonna tell him that. My throat healed after about 2 days and I'm back to my full strength. Scott saved Deaton so it wasn't a total failure of a day, but I am still fucked up about not saving Boyd I was so close, I could feel it. But a guardian cannot heal the dead unless they give their own life.
*End of flashback*
"Cora...It's been 2 days." I said as I leaned on the window. As soon as Derek knew I was okay he left. He left without saying anything. He left without telling me anything he left without a goodbye. I woke up in the middle of the night after falling asleep next to him and he was just gone. Cora and Peter are telling me a story about when they were younger, before the fire. The hunters were chasing Peter and Derek after they killed some newbie wolf for killing a hunter.
"They were there for two days, waiting, hiding. That's what we're taught to do when the hunters find us... hide and heal." Cora said. I continued to stare out the window at the falling rain, it mirrored how I felt perfectly.
"Okay, so is two days standard then? Is he going to be coming back soon or do you think this is going to be longer..?" I asked not quite ready to look away from the window.
"Why do you care?" Cora asked and I laughed, it was a humorless laugh but a laugh none the less. She's been so on edge since Boyd died, which I have let her bitchiness slide but quite frankly right now I don't care. Not knowing where Derek is, or what he's doing, it's driving me crazy. I feel so on edge now and it's not just the lingering feeling of Boyd's absence, it's something deeper. I feel like I cannot breathe until I am with him again.
"Why do I care? Let's see... because over the last few weeks, my brother tried to kill himself. His boss nearly got ritually sacrificed. A girl that Stiles has known since he was three was ritually sacrificed. Boyd was killed by alphas. Derek is now missing and I feel like there is a hole in my chest. I can't think of anything other than him and God damn it I don't know why I am so in love with him, Cora I'm scared... I... do you want me to keep going? 'Cause I can, all right? For, like, an hour." I said and Cora just gave me a very odd look like she knew something but decided to bite her tongue.
"You think Derek can do anything about that?"
"Obviously I don't think he can do anything about the sacrifices and I would rather kill myself than let any of those Alpha bitches touch him. But the hole in my chest, the fact I cannot think about anything other than his well being and what he wants...yeah he can do something about that, like coming home and telling me everything is okay!" I yelled the last part involuntarily.
"I don't know. There's something different about him now. He wasn't like this when we knew him." Cora said and I saw Peter's reflection in the window nod. Hmm...
"What was he like?"
"A lot like Scott, actually. A lot like most teenagers... unbearably romantic, profoundly narcissistic, tolerable really only to other teenagers." Peter said and this time it was Cora's turn to nod.
"And so what happened? What changed him?" I asked, the more I knew the more I could fully understand the man I was in love with.
"Well, the same thing that changes a lot of young men... A girl." Peter's response caused me to scoff.
"You're telling me some girl broke his heart? That's why Derek is the way he is?" It just didn't seem like something that could cause the Big Bad Wolf to well be the Big Bad Wolf. But when I thought about it, it made sense. The darkness hissed poison into my thoughts, but of course, Derek had a girlfriend before me. I mean he fucked around with Kate Argent for crying out loud.
"Do you remember Derek before he was an Alpha had blue eyes? Do you know why some wolves have blue eyes?" Peter asked and I shrugged, turning my back on the window. His question caught me off guard. What do his eyes have to do with any of this?
"I just always thought it was, like, a genetic thing," I answered honestly.
"If you want to know what changed Derek, you need to know what changed the color of his eyes," Peter said instantly catching my attention. There was no way his eyes could have anything to do with his disappearance but I was intrigued.
The story they told me was about a girl named Paige. Derek met her in high school. She was playing her cello and Derek and his friends were fucking around with a basketball. After that Derek and Paige started hanging out...wait for a second...
"Okay, hold on, so if Derek was a sophomore back then, how old was he? How old were you? How old are you now?" I asked as my mind turned was racing with confusion.
"Not as you as we could have been, but not as old as you might think," Peter said in that very annoying way of his. Why couldn't he just make sense..?
"Okay, that was frustratingly vague." I said with a slightly passive-aggressive tone, turning to Cora, "How old are you?"
"I'm 17." She said and I nodded turning back to Peter.
"See that's an answer. That's how we answer people." I said with sarcasm.
"Well, 17 how you'd measure in years." Came Cora's response. I just sighed.
"All right, I'm just gonna drop it. What happened to Derek and Cello girl?" I asked. Somehow I thought she must have had something to do with his eyes, why else would they feel the story was relevant?
"What do you think happened? They were teenagers. One minute it was "I hate you, don't talk to me". The next, it's frantic groping in any dark corner they could manage to find themselves alone for 5 minutes. Their favorite dark corner was an abandoned distillery outside of Beacon Hills. " I grimaced at the thought of Derek being with someone else..the more that they spoke the more it seemed like I could actually see what happened. No, literally it was Like I was there watching...
"All right, hold up. How do you know all this? You just said that they were alone."I asked and my voice was full of sarcasm but I really wanted to know..
"Back then, I wasn't just Derek's Uncle. I was his best friend, his closest confidante. That's how I know." Peter said and then there I was... In a distillery watching Derek and his cello girl. I think it was my connection to Derek and my ability to see memories.
*Derek's Flashback* "What?" Derek asked. He was much younger. And he was still as adorable as before. Or I mean as he is now? I don't really know how that works...
"Why do you like me?" Paige or cello girl asked. There was something about her that made it where even if I wanted to hate her I couldn't. The way she looked at Derek then was the same way I looked at him now..we shared that . we both loved him, she loved him when he was young..still figuring.out who he was. And I love the man he had become. It was because of this girl that Derek became who he is now. So what happened.? Why was she so important? But I wasn't sure I wanted to find out...
"What's that supposed to mean?" Derek asked looking at her.
"Why do you like me?" it was odd because I, myself, had wondered the same things..last year I wasn't sure I was even important to Derek. Now he meant everything to me and I would like to say that I meant everything to him.
"Why do you think I like you?" Derek asked.
"Honestly, I think, at first, you liked me because I didn't like you," Paige said and it was funny because Derek and I getting together was random and it happened fast. One day I was only in his pack, and the next he had turned me...and then we got closer and closer until we were where we are now. I didn't know why but there was a source in my chest some kind of pull and when I wasn't with Derek I wasn't okay...
"So now you're worried that now that I know you like me that I'm gonna stop liking you?"
"Not worried. Just wondering when."
"What if I never stop liking you?" Derek said and I felt something in my body, in my heart click. It wasn't The Darkness that burdened my mind not this was something stronger something that had to do with Derek directly...I watched and that's when I saw his face change and that when I smelled it...
"What? Did you hear something? What's wrong?" Paige asked.
"Something happened here," Derek said as he held onto a rope that was attached to the ceiling and hanging.
"What do you mean?"
"I caught a scent. It's blood. All right, now I definitely heard something." Derek said and by the look on Paige's face, I realized something.
"Derek, I don't hear anything. We have to go. Come on. Let's go." she didn't know... *End of Flashback*
Peter also told us about the wolves. The alphas when they had their own packs. They wanted revenge so they carved the same spiral Peter had drawn on the window of the car so long ago. "Our mark for vendetta," Peter said and I scoffed.
"Man, you guys really take that revenge thing to, like, a whole new level, don't you?" I said almost laughing about it...
"It's not just revenge. Losing a member of your pack isn't like losing family. It's like you lose a limb." Cora said and that set me off.
"You honestly think. I don't know that? I lost them too. I lost Erica and Boyd and I lost them and I didn't go seeking revenge there is a point of growing up and letting go. Revenge is pointless it doesn't bring the dead back to life and we know that." I said...I was huffing and there were tears threatening to deep down my cheeks..no one said anything until Peter went back to the story.
"They wouldn't even let him see the body," he said..and I listened more. The only time I was taking back to the memories is when Derek was involved. Every time was like I was being thrown into a different reality. He told us about the wolf that had been cut in half and I didn't understand what it had to do with Derek. And then Cora asked that same question.
"Everything. It's never just a single moment. It's a confluence of events. Personally, I looked at Ennis' circumstances, I saw a profound loss. Derek saw something different. He saw opportunity." Peter said and the wheels in my mind turned over and over until I could come up with some kind of question that actually made sense. The longer I was away from Derek the weaker I felt. And I mean physically and mentally weaker..
"Opportunity? To do what?" I asked finally forming the words that sat in my tongue.
"To always be with her."
*Derek's Flashback*
"What are you staring at?" Paige asked as she held her cello. She had been playing and it was beautiful. The way that she and the instrument worked together and moved and played as one was initially amazing.
"I'm not staring. I'm listening. Am I distracting you?" Derek asked. His voice was different back then, softer and so was he, himself. He was a lot like Scott really, Peter was right. His heart hadn't been through the fucked up things life would shove in his face yet.
"No, I've got laser-like focus," Paige said to which Derek stood from where he was sitting and walked over to her. He kissed her neck and I felt my heart crash and had to remind myself that this was the past this was what made Derek the man I loved.
"You sure about that?" Derek whispered into her ear and I could tell it sent shivers down her spine, but the good kind. Not the kind of spine shivers that are caused by coming close to your own death, or seeing the death of someone else. No these spine shivers were caused by love. And teenage lust.
"I hate you." She whispered.
"No, you don't. You love me."
"Hate you."
"You love me."
"The thing was, he had this constant fear. He was obsessing over it, thinking about it all night, all day, always on his mind. " I heard Peter say from the real world, the present world where I really was. Then the memory changed and I saw what Young Peter looked like, and it was a lot different than I had originally guessed, he was kinda cute..He was sitting at a lunch table with Derek. "Why does she eat alone?" He asked as he took a seat next to the young wolf.
"What are you doing here?" Derek asked his nuisance of an uncle.
"I'm looking out for my favorite nephew, making sure no one has a crossbow aimed at your throat."
"I could get you banned from school grounds. You know that, right?"
"No one would ban me from anywhere. I'm too good-looking. Doesn't she have any friends?"
"A few, but she likes to study during lunch. and I kind of just don't think she likes my friends." Derek said looking at his feet.
"No one should like your friends. They're a bunch of hormonal half-wits. But that one over there... she's perfect for you. And perfect combinations are rare in an imperfect world. It would worry me too, though. I'd probably be thinking about it all the time." Peter said with an evil smirk evident even in his voice, how Derek hadn't caught onto the evilness was beyond me.
"Thinking about what?"
"Her finding out. You've thought that through, right? You know it always happens. One minute, you're in this blissful teen romance, and next, she sees fangs, glowing eyes, claws."
"She doesn't have to find out," Derek said in defense.
"But they always do... especially when they're perfect for you. There's really only one way to make sure you'll always be together. Turn her. I kept telling him not to do it. Every day the more he thought about it, the more convinced he became. You know teenagers. I bet he even blames me. He's probably convinced himself the whole thing was my idea. I have a perfect idea." Peter said rising from his former seat. He walked to where he was in front of Derek not just on the table.
"Go away," Derek growled. I looked back forth between the two watching them converse.
"Laura told you about the packs being here, right? There are more alphas than I've ever seen in one place. Your mother would never do it. And these packs won't be here much longer. The time to do it is now. One little bite and she never gets sick again. She stays younger, more beautiful. Think how she'll be able to protect herself. Derek... the bite is a gift." Peter said and I felt sick, but of course, even from the beginning, He wanted to turn teenagers. It was Peter I mean come on. *End Of Flashback*
Then Peter told us about Emissaries. People like Deaton basically know it all therapists for wolves and other supernatural creatures.
"They keep us connected to humanity. But they're a secret even in the pack. Sometimes only the Alpha knows who the emissary is. Derek and I had no idea about Deaton." Cora said and I looked around wondering where he was. The longer we talked the worse I felt, the worse I felt, the weaker I became. It was a vicious cycle. I was honestly getting worried about it and even considered consulting Deaton or Cora about it later.
"Or his sister, Morrell," Peter said and I stopped thinking for a minute. Hold on a second.
"She's an emissary too?" I asked almost not believing him.
"For the Alpha pack," Peter said and I just kinda felt my body go numb then I felt sick.
"Our guidance counselor? Why the hell don't you people tell me any of this stuff, huh? I shared some really intimate details with her." I said thinking back to after Bree...My heart almost stopped when I thought about her and I wanted everything in the crazy world that was my life to end I wanted everything to stop. I wished that maybe, just for a few minutes we could all mourn the people we lost without death threatening to take us too. But that's not how things work here in Beacon Hills.
"And did she give you good advice?" Cora asked. I nodded but still, I didn't like the fact that this was my life. This was who I had become, constantly looking over my back and sleeping with one eye open because I was sure that eventually the Winchester Brothers would come and gank us all.
"Actually, yeah," I said pushing down the lump in my throat.
"That's what they do. That's what Deaton used to do with Talia." Peter said and I just looked around. The ache in my soul, the presence of absence itself was growing. I listened to Peter tell the story of how the boy with yellow eyes became the man with blue eyes, and I slowly entered the memory itself.
*Derek's Memory*
"Derek? Derek, is that you? " I heard Paige call from somewhere in the school. I followed her voice and found her coming out of the music room. There was someone else there. The memory was odd, distant. Just like everything else. The someone was very familiar, his scent, his body...God who he is?... I could hear Peter and Cora and respond as I watched the memory play out.
"Ennis? Why would he choose him?" I heard Cora ask as he finally came into view. I tried yelling at the girl but realized she couldn't hear me because she, herself, was just a memory.
"Why not? Ennis needed a new member for his pack. Paige was young and strong. Doing a favor for Derek meant Ennis would be in good with Talia. Back then, everybody wanted to be in good with her." Peter said. Paige ran when she noticed the man looming over her. She ran up the stairs.
"He doesn't remember it was Ennis, does he?" I asked as I realized the man was faceless, no not literally faceless but more like his facial features were smudged. Like if you smeared ink on paper.
"If he does, he keeps it to himself," Peter said.
"So then what happened? Did he turn her?" I asked as the girl ran and I turned when I heard footsteps behind me and I swear to whatever god there was that Derek looked me in the eyes. The man, Ennis had caught Paige..
"Almost. He came at Ennis. A 15-year-old boy against a giant. There was no reason for him to fight. She'd already been bitten." Peter said and then Paige's screams echoed through my mind. Her cries were heartbreaking. They made my blood boil.
**
The memory changed to Derek holding Paige in an underground root cellar. She was crying and in his arms. Black blood coming from her mouth.
"So did she turn?"
"She should have. Most of the time, the bite takes. Most of the time." Peter said. It was getting hard even to hear them, everything sounded distant. I needed to get help, figure out what was wrong with me, but not until I heard everything.
"When you told me about the bite, you said you were hoping it took:"If it doesn't kill you," I said recalling that time so long ago that Peter had bitten Lydia and taken me hostage.
"If" Came Peter's distant reply.
"What's happening to her?" Derek cried into the phone as Paige sleep, crying silently in her unconscious state.
"He knew the answer, though. It didn't matter that she was young and strong. Some people just aren't made for this. But she fought. She struggled desperately, trying to survive." Peter said as if he were remembering the very thing I was watching play out in front of me..
"I'm sorry," Derek said holding her to his chest.
"I knew." She said slowly.
"What do you mean?"
"Right after I told you my name...I think I knew. I've seen things in this town before, things no one really could..explain. And then there's the way you talk....how you say things, like how you catch a scent....And I know you can hear things, things no one else can hear. I knew." She said. She had to take breaks to catch her breath every so often. She was getting worse and worse, and so was I. I could feel it, the way my body felt heavy, how it hurt to move and breathe and everything.
"And you still liked me?" Derek asked and I could sense his heartbreak. I think I could actually feel it in my chest, amplifying my own.
"I loved you....Stay..I'm gonna die...aren't I?" Paige was crying now. Derek's eyes were overflowing and so were my own. "I can't..I can't take it anymore. Derek, I can't...Derek..Please..Please.." Paige was sobbing as hard as her body would allow and I knew what she was asking. I didn't want to see it, I couldn't..But I couldn't leave the memory, I had no control over it.. Derek held her in his arms and then crushed the life out of her sobbing as he did...He ended her life.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." He cried with closed eyes. When he opened them I finally understood the man I loved, when he opened his eyes, they were blue.
"I remember taking her body from his arms, to the woods, to a place where I knew that it would be found..Another in a long line of Beacon Hills animal attacks. " Peter said as I moved to sit down. I had to do it slowly and Cora watched me the entire time.
"And what about Derek?"
"Taking an innocent life takes..something from you as well a bit of your soul. Darkening it, dimming the once brilliant, golden yellow to cold, steel blue." I said, after watching that happen I just knew. I looked at Peter. "Like his," I said almost silently.
"Derek"
"I did something...something terrible," Derek said to his mother.
"I know." She said and his eyes light up the brilliant blue they are now.
"My eyes..they're different."
"Different, but still beautiful. Just like the rest of you." She said caressing her son's face and hair.
"Cora," I said standing up. I had suddenly gotten worse and I didn't feel good at all. I felt..I felt like I was dying. I went to walk toward her as my vision blurred and my heart rate sped up increasingly fast. She looked at me with wide eyes and put her hands out to steady me but she was too far away. "Derek.." Was the last thing I remember saying, before the world was spinning and I was falling, unconsciously to the hard ground.

Okay, so the last few days have been beyond hectic, we found Derek and Peter when I saw Derek he was healed and totally okay. I cried as I held our heads together. Everything was okay for a moment. Currently I'm with Scott at the hospital. Bringing our mom some food for dinner.
"Okay, keep pressure on it. The doctor's on her way. And does anyone know where Dr. Hilyard is?" Then Mom saw us and the food in my hands. "Oh, thank God. I'm starving. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Thank you for bringing me dinner. " She said while patients and nurses swarmed around us.
"Is everything okay?" I asked as she set the food down on the nurses station.
"Except for half the accident victims in a ten car pile-up being rerouted here from downtown, and the E.R. attending not answering any of his pages, yeah, I'm okay." She said, looking as stressed as I've ever seen her.
"What does not answering pages mean?" Scott asked.
"It means that nobody can find him, so now we have to wait for the on call to get here." She explained, when a women walked up to us and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Miss. "
"Yes?"
"Excuse me, can I kind of please have something for the pain?" She asked, mom shook her head.
"Okay, I'm sorry. I know. But, actually, giving you something could complicate things, so we really just need to wait for the doctors. Okay?" Mom said and the pain etched on this ladies face was almost unbearable.
"Yeah." She mumbled as she went and sat down. I followed while Scott talked to mom.
"Uh, you know, I think that I read online that sometimes human contact can help with pain." I said and the woman looked confused but agreed and I set my hand on her arm. The purple veins, the pain, all of it. Then a familiar voice filled the room and I looked up.
"Someone... Someone help me! Oh, I need help!" Ethan yelled and I ran over to him followed by Scott and mom. He was holding Danny, who was obviously struggling with his breathing.
"Okay, gentle, gentle, gentle!" Mom said as Scott and Ethan sat him down in a chair.
"What did you do to him?" I said with possibly too harsh of a voice.
"Nothing. He said he was having chest pains and trouble breathing, but it... it just kept getting worse." He said as mom checked his vitals in his neck.
"This is not good. How much longer on Dr. Hilyard? His larynx has shifted to the side. I think it's a tension pneumothorax." She said just before Danny bent over the armrest on the chair to throw up.
"Mistletoe." Ethan and I said at the same time. Mom got a bed to roll the boy into a room, we all followed.
"Can you three please go back to the waiting room?" She asked when we got into the room.
"Where are the nurses and the doctors? Where is everyone?" Ethan asked.
"It's a full house tonight. They're tending to other patients."She said. Danny's breathing continued to worsen.
"Okay, well, mom, how can we help?"Scott asked and I looked from him to the boy on the bed. He shook his head.
"Honey, you can't. His lung is collapsed. His heart is being pushed against his chest cavity, so..."
"He's gonna die, isn't he?" Scott asked. I knew it's what we were all thinking, at least the three teenagers.
"No." I said sticking my hand on his chest, wishing I hadn't taken the pain from that woman. He relaxed and I took my hand back after the veins reached my shoulder.
"No, he's not. Scott, you grab the tape. You grab those scissors and cut his shirt open. Okay." She said pointing me to the scissors. I grabbed them and did as i was told. Then my stomach dropped.
"Mom, he's not breathing." Scott and I said at the same time.
"I know, I know. Okay." Mom said before pulling out the biggest needle I have ever seen in my entire life and shoving it into the left side of his chest. After pulling it out and waiting in anticipation for what felt like hours but was only a few seconds his eyes opened and he thanked mom. Scott and I just stared at her for a second.
"No big deal." Then she realized we were staring and asked what it was about.
"That was awesome." We both ended up saying at the same time.
"It was no problem, you know? I mean, it wasn't a big deal." Mom said with an awkward smile. I then followed Scott and Ethan somewhere private to talk. Yeah, I saved his life but that doesn't trust the guy at all. And as we all know I have to protect Scott..
"I know you're not gonna believe me, but I didn't do anything. " Ethan said with his hands up. I was standing next to Scott with my arms at my chest.
"All I know is that the minute that you got here, you went right for Danny, and your brother went for Lydia." I said with an irritated voice. Scott glanced at me through the corner of his eye because him of all people knew just how bad the anger was getting.
"We're not gonna hurt him." Ethan said in a cautious voice. He was too uneasy for my liking, the confident teen alpha ego was gone.
"Why should we believe you?" Scott asked. I
"Because we knew one of them was gonna a be important to you, and now we know it's Lydia." Ethqn said but before either of us could reply our attention was tried to the oncoming car. It was swerving as if it were driven by a drunk driver.
Oh shit. I thought as the car slammed into a parked car. We all ran over. When Scott opened the door the was no one inside. Even worse than a drunk driver. I picked up a dead moht that was on the empty drivers seat.
"What is it?" Ethqn asked. I held up the moth. It didn't take long for several police cars to show up.
"Hang on, hang on. They were both in the car?" Sheriff Stilinski asked. I glanced at Stiles who had a hand on his forehead.
"No dad, they're trying to tell you hat it was two separate kidnappings okay? Two doctors both gone."Stiles said to his dad.
"So whose car is this?" The sheriff asked.
"Dr. Hillyard, the on-call doctor. The E.R. attending is the one that never made it in.
"Let me just focus on getting your story first all right?"
"Yeah"
"Kids, give us a second." Sheriff said. We walked a good ten feet away before speaking.
"These are definitely sacrifices right?" Scott asked.
"Yeah. It's the one Deaton mentioned: the healers."
"What about Danny? He threw up Mistletoe that's no a coincidence and if he hadn't been with Ethan, he probably would've died." I said.
"Danny isn't a healer." Stiles said. "I....can you hear that? " Scott and I paused.
"They found a body." We both said. After that we all went home.
The next morning found Scott, Isaac, and I sleeping in moms room.
"Really guys? Guys! What do you think you're doing?"
"Uh we were watching over you." Isaac said.
"We wanted to make sure you weren't the third sacrifice " I said, only if I had known just how wrong we were. But we would find out and soon. Dread embedded itself in my stomach and doubt filled my mind.
"But you were all asleep."
"You were on watch last." Scott said to Isaac.
"What are you talking about? Alex was on watch last" Isaac said and I shot him a glare.
"No, you were on watch last." Scott and I both said.
" I might've been on watch last."
"My heroes. Wait, didn't you say that they were all doctors? I mean, I haven't had an M.D. Recently attached to the end of my name, so I think I'm in the clear" mom said.
"Yeah, but it could just come under any kind of healer, mom, and you were definitely a healer last night." Was Scotts reply and he wasnt wrong.
"Yeah, well, I'm not gonna be anyone's human sacrifice today, so all three of you get your butts to school."
When we got to the school I was feeling more anxious than normal. Ms. Blake was subbing for Harris again so we saw her twice. We were in Hariss' class when Scott got a call.  The anxiety had a reason as Deaton had just been taken. Scott left not giving our teacher a chance to stop him Stiles called his father while I excused myself to the restroom. My heart was thumping loudly in my chest and my breathing was escalated. What if Scott can't find Deaton? When is the alpha pack going to go after Derek?
My thought process was disturbed when someone walked into the restroom. I lifted my feet and slowed my breathing. That is until I saw the bare feet and the disgusting claws.
"Come on Alex, come out now. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Do you even know how hard it is to get you alone? You are always with Scott and Stiles or your pedophile of a boyfriend. Sadly, that shouldn't be an issue anymore. Sadly for you, not for me of course. Come out now." Kali said and I opened the stall door with my head high and my heart threatening to jump out of my chest.
"You aren't going to lay one nasty ass claw on Derek." I said with anger and hatred blistering my words.  Kali laughed and I cringed at the noise.
"You're cute, but you are going to help us. Whether you want to or not. Derek is either going to die today or he is going to get a taste of what being a part of our pack really feels like."
"No." I said and I turned to run.
"So the hard way it is." She said and before I even realized the twins were standing behind her. I backed up as far as I could but she grabbed me by the throat and lifted me into the air. "I always liked doing things like this." I fought and I struggled, kicking her repeatedly in chest had no affect. I ended up kicking her in the soft spot in her ribs and her grip faltered. When I fell I crawled away gasping for breath.
"I'm sorry about this Alex." Ethan said and then there was an explosion of pain in the back of my head. I cried out before entering the world of unconsciousness. Even then I felt scared, my heart was racing and my stomach felt sick. When I slowly began to come back to reality, I kept my eyes shut in hopes they wouldn't notice.
"When we cut the power you and Ethan bring her up and use her as our leverage. By the time we leave he will either be dead or one of his betas will. Who ever dies its his choice. And look who is awake, just in time too." Damn...My heart racing must have given me away. I sat up and seen that we were in an ally by the loft.  "Ethan watch the failure of a guardian and we are going to go cut the power." When they left I struggled with the ropes around my hands, but they were soaked in wolfsbane, inevitably making it impossible to break them.
"Ethan, you don't have to do this." I said as fresh tears left my eyes. I felt so incredibly helpless, I couldn't do anything but hope I could push the right buttons.
"You don't understand Alex. Whatever Kali and Decualian say my brother and I have to do. It doesn't matter what happens, we owe them our lives." He said and I started shaking my head.
"What would Danny think of this? What do you think Danny would say if I told him you held me hostage and used me for leverage. How dare you say you care about him and then pull this bullshit. If you know Danny you know that he wouldn't be okay with this." Knowing I had pushed the right buttons but also knowing Ethan wouldn't budge  I gave up.
"Get her out of the car." Kali said through the window. "Bring her up with us but wait until I tell you, make sure Derek doesn't see her until I want him to. And don't think that just because she looks small that she can't do some stupid shit and mess this up, I want you to put this in her mouth so she can't yell for her boyfriend. Aiden, I want you to be the one to slit her throat in front of Derek." She said and with that she turned an walked away. Ethan's grip on my arm faltered while the other twin bruised my arm with his hold.
"You said we weren't going to kill her." He said as he stopped walking. So Danny's boyfriend did care.
"Oh don't be such a mush, shes a guardian, she will heal. It's just to give Derek that final push he needs to save his own life." And then I was hauled upstairs. The lights were obviously off and I could hear 3 beating hearts in the loft. Kali ripped the door open and I was forced to stay in the dark. The gag enabling me from making any noise.
"Gonna be honest, Derek. When Ennis died, I thought to myself I'd just go for it. Find you and kill you, wherever you stood. Then I remembered how you surround yourself with these teenagers, hiding behind them, and I thought, "what's a girl got to do to get you alone?"  with that the twins  dragged me into view, I was completely limp and I was terrified. How bad is it going to hurt when they cut my throat? How long is that going to take to heal? " You and me Derek, or they tear her apart. What do you say? You think you can beat me one on one?" Derek's heart had accelerated considerably. Isaac and Boyd backed off, the rag was ripped from my mouth and I got a hand, claws and all, around my throat.
"I'm gonna rip your throat out with my teeth." And then Derek was flying through the air with his claws out. He connected with her shoulder.  The fight left me in tears when her claws found their way into his stomach.
"Uhh! Derek!" Isaac yelled as the claws tightened around my throat.
"No!" I heard Derek yell before the pain shot through my body. The cuts were extremely deep, the bone itself was slashed.  Gargling on my own blood I fell to the ground. The twins let go and footsteps were heard running towards me
"Wait." I heard someone yell. I couldn't place the voice but I could hear the fighting continue. I tried to open my eyes, but I couldn't. I heard the sound of electricity and someone was holding me. They were holding my throat in place, helping the bones mend. They slowly and painfully did. I tried to breathe but still I couldn't. My windpipe was collapsed and the blood was drowning me. If I didn't heal soon I might die.
"Take him! I'm giving you till the next full moon, Derek. Make the smart choice. Join the pack... Or next time I'm killing all of you." I opened my eyes slowly to see Kali walking out. Derek was holding Boyd in his hands. The smell of blood evident. No.. I willed myself to heal. I prayed to whatever god there is that would listen to someone like me.
"It's okay. " I heard Boyd say. The feelings in the room were gut wrenching. Derek's guilt was like a hundred knives in my soul. I could feel his heart breaking and that numbing feeling of losing a pack mate. My bones healed but just barely.
"No, no. No, it's not. It's not." Derek said he was crying. Something the Big Bad Wolf never did.
"It's all okay, Derek." Boyd stuttered. I opened my eyes to see that Derek was still holding Boyd.
"I'm... l'm sorry."  Derek was in pain and I could help if I could just get there. If I could just..I pushed away from Isaac and crawled. My throat still healing I couldn't move very fast. Isaac didn't even try to stop me. He was still in shock. That feeling..the feeling of losing another pack mate...it's paralyzing.
"The full moon. That feeling... That was worth it. There's a lunar eclipse. I always wondered what... What that felt like for one of us. For one of us..." And then Boyd fell. I rushed over as fast as I could. My hearing not quite strong enough to pick up any heart beats. My strength was being pulled from my body like the blood still dripping from my throat. When I was close enough to touch him I knew it was too late. But still I tried.
Stiles, Cora and Lydia came in as Derek tried to pull me off.
"NO! THIS IS MY FAULT! Just let me try.." I begged and Derek's shaking hands let go. Cora was hugging his body and I was willing the purple veins. The pain was horrendous but I fought through it. I cried and screamed as the purple made its way up.. Just before I passed out and lost all strength Derek had his bloody hands around me and was rocking back and forth.
I had failed yet again. Another member of my pack..of my family was dead and I couldn't save him. I was still hurt pretty bad and the attempt at healing Boyd had pulled every ounce of strength my body had for healing out. Yet again I was unconscious in the bed of Derek Hale with IV's and this time a neck brace. I am Alex Blackridge a failure of a Guardian of the supernatural.

Motel California
So if you guys don't know this, Dylan O'Brien directed this episode. Baaaaaabe 😍 Also there is a severe trigger warning:self harm and suicide attempts.
So Coach didn't even notice that Allison and Lydia got on the bus with us. And if he did he didn't care.
"Listen up. The meet's been pushed till tomorrow. This is the closest motel with the most vacancies and least amount of good judgment when it comes to accepting a bunch of degenerates like yourselves. You'll be pairing up. Choose wisely. And I'll have no sexual perversions perpetrated by you little deviants. Got that? Keep your dirty little hands to your dirty little selves!" Coach yelled as we got off the bus. He pointed at me and then at Stiles. I just shook my head. As I was looking around some girl I've only seen in Track came up to me.
"So, is it okay if uh...we share a room? No one else wants to share one with me..." she said and when I nodded she smiled and stuck out her hand. "My names Ruby." She said and then she told me our room number and left.
"Lydia?" Allison and I asked at the same time. Our friend was staring at the motel deep in thought.
"I don't like this place." She said almost in a trance.
"I don't think the people who own this place like this place. It's just for a night." I said. Lydia looked at me with wide eyes.
"A lot can happen in one night." She said. The way that she said it sent chills down my back and I somehow knew that it was going to be a very long night. After I took my bags into the room I went to talk to Scott and Stiles.
"All right, so I have four." Stiles said as I sat down on the bed.
"Four? You have four suspects?" I asked. Stiles nodded.
"Yeah, it was originally ten. Well, nine technically, I guess. I had Derek on there twice." Stiles proceeded and I cringed at the name.
"So who's number one? Harris?" Scott asked almost immediately after hearing my heart race.
"Just because he's missing doesn't mean he's dead." Stiles said as if it were obvious.
"So if he's not dead, our chemistry teacher is out secretly committing human sacrifices." I said, sarcasm spilling from the words like air from my lungs or blood from Derek's mouth
"Yeah, I guess that just sounded way better in my head." Stiles admitted.
"Well, what if it's somebody else from school? Like, you remember Matt? We didn't know that he was killing people." Scott said and I looked at Stiles knowing what was coming.
"Excuse me? I'm sorry, what? I... yes, we did. I called that from day one, actually." He said confirming my guess. Of course Stiles would throw this in our faces I mean honestly.
"Yeah, but we never really seriously thought that it was Matt." Damn it Scott.
"I was serious. I was quite serious, actually. Deadly serious. No one listened to me." Stiles said with sarcasm.
"Who were the other three?" I asked changing the subject. "And Scott you should use your claws to cut these stitches out. It's healed already." I said and they both looked at me with wide eyes. I lifted my shirt to show the only wounds were from the string in my skin. He nodded and ripped the string then I pulled it out. Stiles almost fainted as usual.
"Derek's sister, Cora. No one knows anything about her, and she's Derek's sister. Next, your boss." Stiles said not even commenting on the stitches.
"My boss?" Scott asked.
"Deaton?" I said in disbelief.
"Yeah, your boss. I don't really like the whole Obi-Wan thing he's got going on, you know. It freaks me out." When Scott and I seemed confused by the reference Stiles just sighed.  "Oh, my God. Have you still not seen Star Wars?" He exasperated.
"I swear, if we make it back alive, I will watch the movie." I said.
"Just makes me crazy." Stiles said after a few seconds.
"Who was the last one?" I asked and the sudden look of pain and sadness answered for me
"Lydia. She was totally controlled by Peter, and she had no idea, so..." and with that I went back to my room.
"Hey I'm gonna go to the vending machine want anyting? Oh and the curling iron is on in the bathroom so be careful " Ruby asked me and I shook my head. As I laid down on the bed I felt a rush of sadness almost like I was in a trance.
"Alex?"
My eyes snapped open as I looked up. There sitting on the bed directly to my left was Bree. Her neck bruised and bloodied. Her eyes swollen and red from crying.
"Bree?" I choked out. She nodded.
"Alex, I don't know what happened. I was at home when I heard this chanting and then.....why didn't you save me? Why didn't you use your powers or whatever to find me. This is your fault you know...." she said.
I was sitting up now. Watching in disbelief. "How do you know about that?" I asked. She shook her head then stood up and sat next to me.
"Alex...you think these people..this pack really cares about you? Only I care about you baby girl....I'm so lonely now...it's always dark here and I'm scared...."she was beginning to fade. Everything she said left me in awe. "This is your fault!" She screamed before disappearing.
Just when I thought it was over, as soon as I closed my eyes again the bed moved and the smell of mint filled the air. With tears in my eyes I said his name.
"Derek?" I asked.
"Alex ..it's okay.. it's okay..you tried to help I know you did.  I just want you to know that it's okay. But you need to come with me now. Come on, take my hand." He said. There was something off about the way he spoke. It didn't sound like anything he'd say. But I followed. Call it desperation I don't care. I had to know. He led me to the bathroom by my hand. In there was Bree, the girls from the house in which I was imprisoned. But the ones who scared me the most were my parents. Yes, my parents. I choked out a sob.
"Alex." They all said at the same time. The first one to come up to me was my mother. There was something robotic about the way she moved. But she was still as beautiful as ever. Other than the blood seeping from there claw marks on her neck. Her brown hair tied into a tight ponytail. She was still wearing the same baby blue night gown.
"Oh my sweet, sweet, girl." She said as my father stepped up beside her. Resting his hand on her shoulder. "Look at how beautiful she is. Oh, Alex. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry that we left, that we didn't protect you...and I am mainly sorry that you lived..you caused our death. All of us. I think it's time. An I think you know it is too." As if to haunt me they all started yelling my name and describing the moments before their death. All other than Derek. He just sat there and watched.
When I couldn't take it anymore  my body acted. As if I hadn't any control over it. My fist smashed into the mirror as the door to the room opened.
"Alex?" I heard the girl call out. "Are you okay in there?" She asked. I locked the bathroom door in response. Grabbing the biggest piece of glass I held it to my throat. In one quick motion there was blood everywhere. The tissue already pressing back together.  I cut up and down my wrists as well. I dropped the glass when the curling iron fell on my foot. As if I had been in some kind of spell and the one doing it called me out I woke up realizing what I had done, then realizing what else was going to happen I ran out. Leaving Ruby staring in fear as I was covered in blood.
I went to Lydia and Allison first. They were surprised to see me covered in blood but before they could react I spoke.
"You know, there is something seriously wrong with this place. Hey, Guys, we need to leave." I said. Allison turned to Lydia who was taking in heaping breaths.
"But they were suicides, not murders, and it's not like this place is haunted, right?" She said and I just kinda looked from the two of them wondering what the fuck was going on.
"Maybe it is. You know, I bet that couple made their suicide pact in that very room. Maybe that's why they're renovating. Maybe they've been scraping brain matter off the wood paneling." Lydia said in response and I was utterly shocked by that response. Completely and utterly confused I just shut up.
"Maybe we should find out." Allison said as she walked to the front desk. When we got there, there was no one at the desk.
"Well, there goes that." I said.
"Didn't you say the sign said 198?" Allison asked Lydia and I glanced at it to see '202' framed on the wall.
"It was 198. I swear to God it was 198." Lydia said with wide eyes.
"Okay, what does that mean, that there's been four more suicides?"
"Or four  more are about to happen." I answered, digging out my phone I texted Stiles to come to Lydia's room alone.
When Stiles showed up he rushed over to me and bombarded me with a hundred questions. The blood was dried now, the wounds completely gone. But still he made sure I was perfectly okay before even considering talking about anything else.
"Yes. For the hundredth time I'm okay. But if we don't hurry. I think Scott might do something bad. Something really bad."
"Last time I saw Scott act like that was during the full moon." Allison said. She was referring to the shower invasion she told Lydia and I about on our way to the room.
"Yeah, I know. He was definitely a little off with me too, but actually, it was Boyd who was really off. I watched him put his fist through the vending machine." Stiles said pacing about the room.
"See, it is the motel. Either we need to get out of here right now, or... someone needs to learn how to do an exorcism asap, before the werewolves go crazy and kill us." Lydia said and I just smiled to myself.
"Actually I know how to perform an exorcism. " I said and when the three of then stared at me with wide eyes and open mouths I laughed. "From Supernatural, my god."
"Okay, just hold on, all right? What if it's not just the motel? The number in the office went up by three, right?" Stiles said and I thought about earlier. ..
"You mean like three sacrifices?" Allison asked. I still held my tongue.
"What if this time it's three werewolves?" And that's where I spoke up.
"Scott, Isaac, and Boyd." I said. "But what about me? I don't know but I think I tried to kill myself."
"Maybe we were meant to come here. And Alex, I don't know but you didn't. And that's all that matters." Stiles said. I nodded.
"Exactly! So can we get the hell out of here now? Please?" Lydia asked and I looked down to the bed side table in between the two beds. There was some kind of newspaper on the shelf below the drawer.
"Wait, hang on. Let me see this." I said as I grabbed it. I stared in horror at the words and picture.
"What is that?" Allison asked.
"28year-old man hangs himself at the infamous Glen Capri." I read aloud.
"Oh, no. Look at these two. They both mention the room 217. These are probably all the suicides that happened in this room. " lydia said holding up another article.
"So if every room has a Bible..." Allison let the words drone.
"There could be articles in all the rooms." Lydia and I said at the same time.
"That's a beautiful thing. Most places leave a mint under the pillow. This one leaves a record of all the horrible deaths that occurred." Stiles Sassed. I was glad that Stiles was still so strong during all of this. After all it scares the hell out of me and I'm not even human but when I was ... it was too much. "What if the room next door has the one about the couple? No, that was not locked before." Lydia said. We had gone to see if it did and the door was locked.
"Forget it. We need to get Scott, Isaac, and Boyd out of here." Allison said just as a mechanical buzz sounded through the air.
"I'm not the only one who heard that, am I?" I asked. They all shook their heads.
"It sounds like someone turned the handsaw on." Allison said. A panic rose through all of us and instinctively we looked at the guy.
"Handsaw?" Stiles said. Then he shouldered the door and fell back holding his arm. I sighed and kicked the door open. Stiles rushing past.   "Hey, no, Ethan, don't!" Stiles yelled and we all looked to see Danny's boyfriend about to saw into his stomach. I unplugged the saw, after Stiles literally tried to pry the thing from his hands. The wolf threw Stiles to the ground and he came inches from hitting his face on the still running saw. Instinct took over and I pulled him away from it. We all looked to see Ethan retract his claws and begin to claw at his own stomach. I reacted the same way the others did trying to pry his hands away from his body. He fell onto a heater type thing which burned him.
"What just happened?" He asked in complete shock
"Ethan!" Stiles and I yelled as he ran out the door.
"Didn't you hear what I just said? I don't know how I got there or what I was doing." Ethqn snapped as we continued to follow him.
"Okay, you could be a little bit more helpful, you know? We did just save your life." Stiles said I agreed. The somewhat human part if me along with that swelling darkness told me to just let him do it. But my Guardian majority forbid it.
"And you probably shouldn't have."  Ethan concluded before going into his room.
"What now?" Lydia asked after we stood in silence for a second.
"I'll find Scott. You guys grab Isaac and Boyd. The best thing we can do is get them out of this place." Allison said heading up the stairs. I followed with Lydia and Stiles behind.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" Lydia asked. I stopped to see she had only made it up 4 steps while Stiles still stood on the ground.
"Oh, no, I w..." Lydia cut him off by saying his name. I decided to wait...not because I was jealous. ..just curious. .
"All right, Lydia. I didn't want to say anything, but this... everything we're going through... we've kind of been through something like this before, a lot like this." Stiles said I was still putting the pieces together when Lydia asked what he meant. Then it clicked.
"Your birthday party, the night you poisoned everyone with wolf's bane." I thought aloud. Lydia obviously pissed off at us walked off into the parking lot. Stiles quick on her trail. I stayed farther back, using my super hearing to an advantage.
"Lydia, I'm sorry, okay? Look, I didn't mean that you're trying to kill people, okay? I just... I just meant that maybe... maybe you're somehow involved in getting people to kill themselves, you know? Which now that I say that out loud, it just sounds really terrible, so I'm just going to stop talking." Stiles said and I face palmed so hard. This boy....Lydia stopped dead in her tracks
"Stiles...Alex... Do you hear that?"
"What?" I asked running to catch up with them.
"Lydia, what do you hear?" Stiles asked after no response.
"A baby crying." Lydia said although my super sensitive hearing picked up nothing. Lydia fell to her knees at a water drain. Putting her ear up to it. "I hear... I hear water running." She stopped talking for a second. "Oh, my God. She's drowning the baby! Someone's drowning!" Then Lydia ran to one of the motel rooms not even knocking as she ran in. In the bathtub we found Boyd with a safe on his chest holding him under water.
Instinctively I reached for the drain but found it useless. "He blocked it. He blocked the drain with something. I can't get to it." I said. Lydia asked what we were gonna do and I fell back, the gears in my head beginning to spin .
Stiles asked for help while my brain worked over time to find the connection .
"Wait a sec, the Curling Iron and the heater. Heater... Ethan came out of it when he touched the heater. It was the curling iron for me.." I mumbled the words too fast and too jumbled.
"What?"  Stiles and Lydia asked.
"It's heat, heat, fire. Heat does it, all right? We need something... We need fire." I said.
"He's underwater." Stiles said with much sarcasm.
"Yeah, I'm aware of that."
"Wait, wait. The bus. On the bus, they'll have emergency road flares. They have their own oxidizers. They can burn underwater." Lydia said and Stiles and I asked if she was serious she said yes and he ran to get them. While he was gone I stuck my hand on Boyd's mouth. Allowing the purple veins. They brought a cold pain and by the time Stiles got back I was choking up water. Stiles lit it and stuck it on Boyd's face . I passed out and apparently they found Isaac under the bed. Both boys were brought out of it. The first word I said, well yelled, was Scott's name. I ran outside leaving Lydia, Allison, and Stiles to follow. In the driveway, Scott was standing in a puddle soaking wet with gasoline.  Holding a lit flare in his hand. We all stopped stunned by the sight.
"Scott... Scott." Allison said approaching him. I was stuck in place, a single move would ignite the gasoline...or so I thought.
"There's no hope." Scott said as if he was speaking from my own thoughts.
"What do you mean, Scott? There's always hope." Allison said. I began to feel dizzy, my head wobbling back and forth.
"Not for me. Not for Derek." Scott said and in that moment I saw him. I saw him laying on a couch while Peter kissed and caressed....Ms. Blake? That didn't matter. What mattered was the fact that Derek was alive.
"Derek wasn't your fault. You know Dere-" I cut off Allison's attempt to comfort him.
"Derek's alive. Don't ask how I know but I do. He's okay." Everyone looked at me but no one acknowledged what I said. As if I were crazy...
"Every time I try to fight back, it just gets worse. People keep getting hurt. People keep getting killed." Scott said. Oh god that was how I felt. I was after all supposed to guard them after all. Heal them. Protect them. But of course Scott took that responsibility upon himself. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Stiles move toward our friend..our brother.
"Scott, listen to me, okay? This isn't you, all right? This is someone inside your head telling you to do this. Okay? Now..." Stiles talked in a smooth voice one I have heard so many times.
"What if it isn't? What if it is just me? What if doing this is actually the best thing that I could do for everyone else? It all started that night, the night I got bitten. You remember the way it was before that? You and me, we were... we were... we were nothing. We weren't popular. We weren't good at lacrosse. We weren't important. We were no one. Maybe I should just be no one again. No one at all." Scott said...everything he said hit something in me.  Something dark.. something really bad.
"Scott, just listen to me, okay? You're not no one. Okay? You're someone, you're... Scott, you're my best friend. Okay? And I need you. Scott, you're my brother. All right, so... so if you're gonna do this, then... I think you're just gonna have to take me with you. All right?" Stiles said stepping up to Scott.
"Me too." I said walking boldly to Scott. I wrapped my arms around them and with a small twitch of my head the flare flew out of Scott's hand. And when he embraced me the pain I felt... the emotional pain of giving up hit me like a truck. I took it away. I helped.
"No!" I heard Lydia scream before the three of us were tackled. We ended up sleeping on the bus. Allison and Scott in one seat and Stiles and Lydia in one. I sat in the back. I stayed up thinking about Derek. He was alive and when I got back I could find him and heal him. I had too, even if it killed me.
"I don't want to know. I really don't want to know, but in case you missed the announcement, the meet's cancelled, so we're heading home. Pack it in. Pack it in!" Coach yelled and students began piling onto the bus. Ruby's eyes met mine and she looked completely freaked out. Understandable.
"I don't know what happened last night, but I'm pretty sure you saved my life."  Ethan said to the five of us, direction it to Scott. We had all moved to the far back of the bus.
"Actually, I saved your life, but not that it matters that much. It's just... it's a minor detail." Stiles Sassed. Earning glares from all of us.
"So I'm gonna give you something. We're pretty sure Derek's still alive. But he killed one of ours. That means one of two things can happen. Either he joins our pack..." ethan said. When he said Derek was alive he met my eyes.
"and kills his own." I finished ...the thought of Derek even attempting to kill any of us was so absurd I didn't think it would ever even be a possibility.
"Or Kali goes after him, and we kill him. That's the way it works." Ethan said avoiding my eyes..
"You know, your little code of ethics there is sort of barbaric, just F.Y.I." Stiles said.
"If that she Wolf bitch even lays one claw on Derek I'll kill her. I swear to God I'll fucking kill her." I growled under my breath. Ethan didn't even look surprised more ...like he knew something else.
"Hey, Ethan, I wanted to..." coach was cut off by Lydia.
"Coach, can I see your whistle for a second? What's that?" She said .
"Hey, Eth..." he stopped to look at Lydia who was holding out her hand.  "I'm gonna need that back. Ethan... " he said.
"Wolfsbane." Lydia said after she blew purple powder into her hand.
"So every time the coach blew the whistle on the bus, Scott, Isaac, Boyd and Alex.." Stiles said forgetting one name.
"and Ethan." I added.
"We all inhaled it." Scott said.
"You were all poisoned by it." Allison said holding her hand next to her mouth.
"So that's how the Darach got in their heads. That's how he did it." Stiles said. I grabbed the whistle from his hand and opened the window.
"Hey, hey, hey, hey! Blackridge!" Coach yelled as I threw it out. My hand healing itself as soon as the whistle left it. I made a mental note to confront Ethan.  Derek was alive and I was getting stronger . No one would hurt him. Not again. No one would hurt anyone in my pack. Not even a pack of alphas...because we have not only a guardian but we have Scott. Scott McCall.

Frayed
For those who have not seen the show. This episode is almost all flashbacks...sooooo....
"Alex this is that time where you call me and tell me you don't like the home you are in. You don't just run away like this hun." Bree scolded me yet again. This was the fourth house I've run from this month. Foster care sucks but it's better than that damned hospital. I walked over to the mantel above the fire place and picked up the Purple Heart. Which had the name 'Jon Maxwell' engraved on it.
"Who is Jon Maxwell. Is that like your husband or your dad?" I asked avoiding her lecture.
"He was my husband. We served in Iraq together. Now why did you leave this family?" She asked. I nodded, accepting that I wouldn't be getting around this.
"The boy, Garret, he snuck into my room and tried getting in my bed. So I hit him in the face. I'm getting pretty good at that ya know. I think I broke his nose even." I said with a small smirk. Bree sucked in a breath before speaking.
"You gotta get over this, baby girl. But I agree sneaking into your bed in the middle of the night is not okay. But neither is punching him in the face.." Bree said. Then she looked at me and everything about her changed.
"How could you let me die Alex? I stayed with you. I took care of you. And then you let me get sacrificed and let everyone see me tied to that tree? How could you do this to me." Bree said in a monotone voice.
I was awaken by Scott shaking me and saying my name. I clung onto him and cried. I noticed Isaac standing in the doorway. Once the sobs had subsided to small hiccups he asked me if I was okay. I nodded telling him it was just a dream. He watched me very intently as I laid back down and fell asleep. Scott wasn't the one to blame he had nothing to do with Bree dying.
A lot has happened over the weekend. And to make things even better we're going on some stupid ass cross country field trip. We were all on the bus and the only thing I can think about was yesterday. The events that took place have pushed every thought from my mind including Bree's death. Which I still refuse to talk about. I was staring out the window clutching my sides watching the landscape but not really paying attention to it. Scott was siting next to me while Stiles sat in the seat in front of us watching us. He was helping Scott go over key terms for Ms. Blake, I didn't really care at this point whether I passed or failed.
"Perfect. Okay, next word. Um, Darach. Darach, it's a noun. We have to talk about it sometime, okay?" Stiles said and I'm pretty sure Scott and I gave him the same look because he backed off a little bit. "And we're gonna be stuck in this thing for, like, five hours, so why not? Next word... "Intransigent." He said and I decided to try to pay attention just in case. My stomach was still hurting pretty bad and from the way it felt hadn't healed.
"Stubborn, obstinate." Scott said just as we went over a bump I gasped and clutched onto the seat, claws beginning to poke out just a little bit.
"Oh, Alex, you okay? We shouldn't have come. I knew it. We shouldn't have come." Stiles said, I took a few deep breaths and opened my eyes.
"We had to. There's safety in numbers." I breathed out. Locking my eyes shut as Coach blew the whistle for like the 700th time.
"Yeah, well, there's also death in numbers, okay? It's called a massacre... or bloodbath, carnage, slaughter, butchery, wow, that's" Stiles said and I growled flashing purple eyes "... all right, Alex, I'm telling coach that..." Stiles added and I cut him off before he finished.
"No. No, no, no. I'm all right." I said. I could feel a line of sweat beading up at my hair line and I still felt like shit..
"Well, you don't look all right Would you just let us see it?" Scott said and I just shrugged.
"I'm okay."
"Just let me see it, okay?" Scott asked in a soft voice.
"Okay." I said as I pulled up my shirt to reveal the bandage Deaton's clinic provided. There were large blood stain indicating where the gashes were.
"Oh, dude..." Stiles said as I put my shirt back down.
"I know it's bad, but it's because they're from an Alpha. It'll take longer to heal." I said, although I wasn't entirely sure that was the entire reason, well, it was part of it...
"How come Boyd and Isaac are fine then?" Stiles asked and I just kinda lost track of thought as last night's events clouded my mind again. Tears breaking in my eyes falling over the edge.
"I can't believe he's dead. I can't believe Derek's dead." I choked out, my breath hitching in my throat and my stomach hurting even fucking more. In less than a week I lost my two favorite people. I lost almost everything I have, other than Scott and the rest of the pack and mom.... Bree's death caused something inside of me to change and Derek's death amplified that change. I am no were near the girl I was 2 weeks ago . There is a darkness, void in my mind and soul, darker than before. The supernatural has yet again fucked me up and I can't even do anything about it. Hell, one of the fuckers that caused this bullshit is sitting not if 20 feet away from me and I'm stuck in this seat because the wounds they caused aren't fucking healing. God damn it...
We were at the loft going over the plan's details when Scott walked in.
"I know where they are." He said and I just kept glancing from Boyd, to Cora then Isaac and Derek. Avoiding Peter as best as I could. Like always.
"Same building as the Argents, we know." Derek said a few seconds after Scott had walked in.
"Cora and I followed the twins." Boyd said to clarify how we knew. I would have gone with but Derek wouldn't let me. It was apparently too dangerous even though it is literally my job to protect this pack from danger.
"Then they want you to know." Scott said. He was right, the twins had to know that they were being followed...
"Or, more likely, they don't care." Peter said as Scott walked over to the table we were all surrounding.
"What is this?"
"Isn't it obvious? The schemers are scheming, coming up with a coup de main, better known as a pre-emptive strike." Peter said and I still wasn't liking this idea. I still had bad feelings about it. Something bad was going to happen. I could feel it in my chest and literally all of my body. The same crushing pain as finding Bree....
"You're going after them?" Scott asked and then his eyes met mine and I shifted them back to the ground.
"Tomorrow. And you're gonna help us." Derek said. His hand going back to its former place on the small of my back.
"Derek, I still really don't think this is a good idea. What if they're too strong." I said and Derek looked down at me.
"Well, if they're too strong and if they get the uper hand you can do what you did at the bank." Derek said and I just shook my head.
"I don't know how to do it on command yet, Derek and you know that." I said and he just remained silent for a few seconds.
"Then I'll help you train."
"Two of you, back in your seats. Jared, again, car sick? Every ti... how do you even get on the bus? Look at me. No, don't look at me. Look at the horizon. Keep your eyes... keep your eyes on the horizon. Blackridge, not you too." Coach said and I looked up.
"No, coach, I'm good." I said turning my attention back to the window, knowing that I was still pale and probably getting worse.
"Hey, Alex, you're bleeding again. And don't tell me that it's just taking longer to heal, okay? Because I'm pretty sure that still bleeding means not healing, like, at all." Stiles said and I rolled my eyes bringing my eyes down to the blood on my shirt. It felt like it was getting worse, not better.
"He's listening." Scott said looking at Ethan who was sitting next to Danny. A growl escaped my throat.
"Is he gonna do something?" Stiles asked.
"Not in front of this many people." I said, my voice weak. I felt terrible. My breathing shallow and my heart racing.
"Okay, well, what about the two ticking time bombs sitting right near him?" Stiles asked and Boyd tilted his head towards us indicating he was listening.
"No, they won't. Not here." Scott said. Their voices were beginning to sound distant again as I thought back to yesterday.
"Okay, well, what if they do? Are you gonna stop 'em?" Stiles asked.
"If I have to." Was Scott's response.
"They're one floor above them in the penthouse, right above Allison." Derek informed Scott and I knew what was coming , Scott's voice of reason. And although I wanted to agree with him, something inside of me agreed with Derek more.
"So kill them first, that's the plan?" Was Scott's question.
"They won't even see it coming." Boyd said looking Scott in the eyes. I know he wanted revenge for what they did to him and Cora and for what happened to Erica but this was suicide.
"Why is the default plan always murder? Just once, can someone try to come up with something that doesn't involve killing everyone?" Scott asked and I knew he was right, I knew that what he was saying made sense but still. I sided with Derek.
"You never get tired of being so blandly moral, do you? Not that I disagree with him." Peter said and I just glared at him with annoyance as usual.
"I do. Why do we need this kid?" Cora asked and my head snapped over to where she was.
"This kid helped save your life. And you know we can't just sit back and wait for them to make the first move." I said looking back to Scott for the last part. Cora just scoffed.
"You can't beat a pack of alphas." Scott said and I looked to Derek for something to say.
"That's why we're going after Deucalion, just him." Cora said and Derek just nodded, I hadn't been informed of that part yet. It made sense go after the leader and the pack will fall apart, right?
"Cut off the head of the snake and the body dies." Boyd said making an amazing analogy.
"Only this isn't a snake, it's a hydra. And like Scott says, they're all alphas." Peter said, although I still hated the man with everything I was it made sense. It was true.
"Deucalion's still the leader." Derek said.
"Let's hope so. Because you know what happened when Hercules cut off one of the heads of the hydra?" Peter asked.
"Two more grew back in its place." Scott said before I got the chance. Mythology has always intrigued me.
"Somebody's been doing their summer reading." Peter sassed. I felt the urge to bitch slap him but kept it to myself.
I was brought back to reality by Scott standing up.
"Scott? Where are you going?" Stiles asked.
"Boyd. He's gonna do something."Scott said and I followed his line of sight, through blurred vision I saw Boyd's clenched hands.
"Okay, what? How do you know?" Stiles asked. I gesture to Boyd with my head.
"Look at his hands." I said. I followed Scott to the front of the bus. As soon as Boyd went to get up, Scott grabbed his hand an forced him back down.
"Let go." Boyd growled. I sat down in the seat behind Boyd and Isaac.
"You got a plan? Tell me your brilliant plan and I'll let go. What are you gonna do? Kill him, right here? And then what? What are you gonna do after that?" Scott asked. He literally always knows what to say to calm people down and talk sense into them. My side was still not healing and honestly if I didn't know any better I'd say it's getting worse. I haven't felt this bad sense I healed Derek for the first time 2 lifetimes ago. I think I might be dying...
"I don't care." Boyd said causing me to come back to right now.
"We do." I said just before we went over a bump, we were slightly moving again. I gasped loudly, feeling the wounds open back up slightly.
"Whoa, whoa, you're still hurt." Isaac said. The smell of pain and blood hanging heavy in the air.
"I'm fine. Just give us and chance to figure something out. Something that doesn't have to end with someone else dying." I said, Boyd mumbled an okay and I let Scott help me up, keeping a hand placed on my back we made our way back to Stiles. Taking my seat by the window, I tried to think of something other than the pain.
"Crisis averted?" Stiles asked as I continued to stare out the window. Last night repeatedly playing in my head. Scott mumbled an mm-hmm to Stiles .
"Okay good." Stiles began his voice sounding extremely distant. " 'Cause we got another problem ..." I zoned most of what he was saying out. "I have a very perceptive eye for evil, but you know that." Stiles said . I was continuously getting weaker and any moment I felt as though I might pass out. Bree's death created this void inside of me. She was after all the first person to actually stay with me even though God knows I didn't deserve it .
I think her death affected me more than than that of my own parents. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be the kind of person I am. She taught me all the things a mother would teach her daughter. She spent every birthday with me. She helped me cope with my losses. She taught me to be the kind of person I needed. How am I supposed to cope with the fact that because she served our country she was killed as a human sacrifice? I haven't talked about it to anyone yet. And now Derek is dead too. And that one, really was my fault.
"What are you doing?" I heard Scott ask pulling me back to the bus ride. Confused, I decided to keep my mouth shut.
"I'm gonna ask." Stiles said. There was a ding a few seats ahead. Danny looked back to Stiles as several more dings echoed. Danny shook his head. I would have found it comical if I wasn't on the verge of death....again.. a few moments later Stiles told us that Ethan was waiting for news about a family member.
"Well that wasn't very subtle." Stiles said. I turned my attention back to the window.
"Ennis?" The name came out of my mouth almost unwillingly.
"Okay so does that mean uh.." I finished for Stiles.
"He's not dead." I said numbly.
"Not yet."
"What was it that triggered you last time?" Derek asked and I brought myself back to the night at the bank.
"I wanted to protect you and Scott, but didn't know how to." I answered.
"Well why don't I just attack Derek and don't stop until you make me." Peter said from the stairs. I looked across the loft to him and growled.
"How about you shut the hell up." I said.
"Alex it could work." Derek said and in response I gave him a look that said absolutely not.
"Is Alex not ready to give up the tiny bit of control she has again?" Petered asked and I growled trying to ignore him. "Oh so you're ignoring me now, huh? Just think about everything I've done to you. I bit you, after I killed your parents that is." Peter said and I could feel Dereks hand on my back. "I attacked Scott in the woods. I almost killed Lydia. I kidnap-" and that's all Peter got out before I charged. Like a predator attacking it's food for the first time in weeks. I ran up the wall using momentum and used the force to bring my fist into Peter's face. Not giving him time to react as I repeatedly hit him. Footsteps above indicated that Cora had come to watch.
"Alex! Alex! Stop!" Derek yelled but I ignored him, then felt a pair of hands on my hips lifting me in the air. Derek held me until I was human again. "You good now?" He asked and I nodded. He let go and Peter made eye contact as he wiped blood from his lips and nose.
"You hit like a bitch." He said and I went to attack again but Derek grabbed me before I could.
"Maybe we should just let her." Cora said and I glanced towards here. "I mean, what has he done other than kill our sister?" That's all it took for Derek to let go. I attacked again until I was pulled off. This time it took both Hale siblings to pull me off. Peter's nose was obviously broken by the angle it was at. But I wasn't satisfied.
"LET ME GO!" I yelled. When I opened my eyes I was confused to see no one holding me. I looked up to see Peter 2 or 3 feet in the air. His legs squirming and hands trying to get some invisible force from his throat. He choked out a cough and then his eyes met mine. Pure confusion. Or maybe just maybe. Fear.
"What in the hell?" Cora asked and as soon as I turned to look my attention was brought back to the thud and series of muffled curses.
"That works too." Derek said with a satisfied smile.
I was pulled from my thoughts by Coach telling Jared he might "throw up on him just to make a point."
"Now the rest of you. Don't think we're gonna miss this meet because of a slight traffic jam and a minor tornado warning. Jared, we're gonna make this thing. Nothing is gonna stop us! Stilinski put your hand down." Coach said the last part causing me to look up to the seat in front of me.
"You know, there's like, a food exit about a half a mile up. I don't know if we stop and then maybe.." Stiles stumbled over his words trying to think of an excuse.
"We're not gonna stop." Coach said. Dismissal in his voce.
"Okay but if we stop..."
"Stilinski! Shut it! Seriously! It's a little bus! Stop asking me questions." Coach yelled causing me to grit my teeth.
"I hate him." Stiles said after sitting down. "Did you call Deaton?" He asked Scott. Their voices becoming more and more distant while I got worse.
"I keep getting his voice mail." Scott said.
"That's it. I'm calling Lydia..." Stiles said and I opened my eyes again, straining to get the black and white dots to go away.
"How are they gonna help back in Beacon Hills?" Scott asked. I attempted to laugh or scoff but all that came out was a gurgled moan.
"They're not... Been following....us since Beacon Hills.." I said my voice barely more than a whisper. Talking in, between the words, deep ragged breaths. Laying my head on Scott's shoulder without realizing I'd done so. I listened to the distant conversation between Stiles and Lydia.
"No, she's not healing...getting worse...bloods turning black color..."Stiles voice.
"Get her off the bus. ." Allison.
"Hospital?" That's Lydia.
"If she's dying yeah." I can't decipher who is at was but definitely female.
"Been trying."
"Reason with him."
Complete unconsciousness . Through the veil of sleep there were several whistles from. I don't know. Yelling. Whistle. Bus stopped and I sprung forward with a yelp slamming my body against the seat in front of me. I was awake for only a second. I kept slipping in and out of consciousness as I was carried somewhere.
3rd person point of veiw.
It was becoming obvious that Alex was dying. Scott carried her off the bus after Stiles had gotten Jared to get sick and coach to stop the bus. Allison and Lydia both gasped at the small, fragile and pale body held in Scotts arms.
"Oh my God." Stiles said as laid the girl against the wall of the bathroom they were in.
"Why didn't she tell us?" Allison asked. Scott and Stiles just shrugged.
"Okay just give us a second okay? This shouldn't be happening. I've seen her heal from worse than this." Scott said. Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Okay. What do we do then? Do we just call an ambulance.?" Stiles asked. The concern on his face was apparent to just about all of his friends. It was obvious he still cared for her but he'd never admit that he was still in love with her. But he understood why she did what she did.
"What if it's too late? What if they can't help?" Allison said. Stiles took a deep breath, trying to calm the anxiety building in his chest.
"We..we gotta do something." He said as he watched the body of the girl he loved shaking with every shallow breath she took.
"You know it could be psychological." Lydia said.
"What do you mean like psychosomatic?" Stiles asked and Lydia shook her head.
"Somatoformic." She corrected not trying to fight the fact that she was so smart. "A physical illness from a psychogenic cause. Yes it's all in her head." She explained with a sigh after the blank faces.
"All in her head? Because of Derek.." Stiles said and a sudden pang of sadness created a lump in his chest. Scott placed a hand on his best friends shoulder. "She's not letting herself heal because Derek died." He said and pushed the anxiety to the back of his mind. He needed to be strong for Alex, he needed her.
"So what do we do?" Allison asked.
"Stitch her up." Lydia said as if it were obvious. She pulled a sewing kit from her bag. "I'm serious. Maybe all she needs to do is just believe it's healing." She concluded.
"She's gonna need another shirt. There's an extra one in the car." Allison had already pulled the stained shirt and bandage off.
"Uhm I'll go get it. I hate needles anyway...so uh do you know what your doing?" Stiles asked pulling his eyes from the body of the girl he once called his own. Not because she wasn't wearing a shirt but because he was afraid that her time was ending and fast.
"Yeah. My father taught me." Allison said. Alex's breaths were becoming increasingly slow.
"I mean...how fast are you gonna ...I mean the bus, like the bus could leave." Stiles stuttered, his eyes focused on Alex, sure that she was going to stop breathing.
"Well you just make sure it doesn't leave." Allison said. Scott and Lydia agreed to help. Leaving Allison alone to help her dying friend. Sure, Allison had tried killing the girl herself, but maybe stitching her up and saving her life would save there friendship as well. Alex opened her eyes and gasped for breath. Blood staining her lips as she did so, then she slumped back over. Trying to fill her lungs with air, then she couldn't. Allison noticed the struggle.
"Come on. Okay." Allison said pulling Alex closer to her the girl sucked in a shaky breath. Held it. Let it out.
"Okay, stay with me. Stay with me okay. Stay with me." Allison said with tears in her eyes. It was sad seeing Alex like this, she always looked so strong and no afraid to fight.
"I'm. .so .. tired.." Alex's voice was weak. "Ali..just go.." she said causing Allison to look down from the needle she had been trying so hard to thread and shook her head.
"Alex, you don't mean that, okay. Just look at me. Alex, look at me." Alex opened her eyes which looked glazed over. "Okay, just keep looking at me." Allison said. She was becoming increasingly angry as she couldn't thread the needle. "Come on. Come on. Come on." It was clear that Allison wasn't stable. Seeing your dead mother isn't exactly a claim of sanity.
"Unbelievable. One simple little task. You can't thread a needle?" Her mother asked.
"I'm trying" she said her hands shaking and her eyes spilling over again.
"What, you want my sympthay? Because you're just a 17 year old girl and this is all too much for you to handle? Well get over it. Thread the needle." Her mother yelled the last part.
She knew her mom was dead, but it was too real.
"My hands won't stop shaking." She said in response to the figment of her imagination.
"Breathe. Allison, breathe. Try it again." A tear escaped down her cheek as she let our a frustrated yell. Alex only had minutes if that.
"Okay. How do we approach a situation like this?" Her mother had become her conscious. Helping her. Training her. "Allison!" She yelled.
"Clinically." Allison responded.
"And?"
"And unemotional...and unemotionally." But how could she be unemotional when Alex's death may be on her hands?
"Then stop crying and do it." Her mother scorned. Finally she took a deep breath and threaded the needle. And her mother was gone.
"Stay with me. Stay with me." She nutters as she stitched up the wounds.
"Okay. Alex. Alex? Alex?" She began shaking her just as Stiles came back to tell her that the bus was leaving. Allison ignored him. Saying, crying and finally yelling Alex's name.
"It's my fault. It's always my fault." Were the words Alex spoke when she woke up.
"Alex, look at me. It's okay." Allison said. Alex just numbly nodded then looked down and seen the stitches. The wounds already healing considerably.
"Did you do that?"
"Yeah."
"Nice.
"Can you stand?" Stiles asked and Alex nodded pulling herself up with help from Allison. "Okay put this on." He said handing her the shirt he retrieved from the car.
Alex's POV flashback "Stop!" I yelled. "Stop it!" I tried to free my arms but Cora held on too tightly. Isaac, Boyd, and Peter were all attacking Derek. He tried to fight back, but the chains wouldn't allow him to use his arms. Derek fell to the ground, and they continued their attack. I closed my eyes and concentrated. When I looked back up none of them could touch Derek and just a glint of purple lighting surrounded him. I smiled and Cora let go. Allowing me to heal Derek. I undid the chains chains and he stood up, wrapping his arms around me. One on my lower back the other at the base of my neck and pulled me into a kiss. Then my phone went off. Signalling it was time to meet up with Scott. And Isaac apparently. We got there first.
"Is she okay? Are you okay?" Lydia asked as Scott and Allison helped me walk out.
"Yeah." I answered. I would probably be able to take the stitches out in the next day or two.
"Where's Stiles?" I asked just now realizing he was gone.
"Trying to stall coach. We still don't have gas." Lydia answered. She directed the last part to Allison.
"I'm not leaving them."
"Then we have to leave the car."
"Sounds good." Allison answered as she helped me towards the bus.
"What? That wasn't an actual suggestion. Allison, wait. Ah. Screw it." Lydia said following us.
"You didn't come alone." The blind man's voice echoed through the abandoned building.
"Yeah. This is Isaac." Scott said in response his heart beat not so much as faltering at the lie.
"I'm not talking about Isaac." Deucalion answered. Derek stood up, ushering me to stay put.
"You knew I would do this? Derek, don't. You can't do this so no one gets hurt. If someone else dies..." Derek had begun to approach the pair.
"Him. Just him." He growled, eyes glowing red and teeth out.
"Just me? Now, how's a blind man find his way into a place like this all on his own?" And out came the rest of both packs.
"Stiles, what's happening?" Scott asked as I looked around. Realizing there was a crowd of people surrounding what looked like a fight.
"They went after him. I told 'em what was happening with Alex and they just went after him." Stiles said. I felt my heart rate pick up, if Boyd went after him..he was gonna kill him. In front of everyone.
I watched as Scott attacked Ennis. Both running full speed at each other. Their collision making me cringe. Then Derek kicked Ennis in the back. Both of them struggling when Ennis grabbed onto Derek. I almost didn't have time to react when they both fell over the edge. I let out a cry and closed my eyes. With every ounce of my being I concentrated. Silence swept over the room as I opened my eyes to see Derek hanging in the air Scott looked at me then at Derek. My body getting more an more exhausted by the second.
"Scott!" I yelled and Scott ran to the edge about to grab Derek when Derek's eyes got big. A loud yell echoed throw the air and sharp claws dug across my abdomen. I cried out but stayed focused. Only one more slash and Derek was sent falling to his death. I crawled over to the edge just as he hit the ground. I screamed and screamed for what felt like an eternity. I didn't even realize Scott had to pull me back from the edge. And just like that I lost the two people I cared most about. First Bree, then Derek.
"Who, Boyd?" Scott asked. Bringing me back.
"Isaac, Isaac, Isaac! Back off! Stop." I heard coach yell and Scott ran over there.
"Isaac!" Scott yelled and Isaac stopped. It was like when he attacked me in the station and Derek growled. I might still be weak and delusional but his eyes....they...no..that's not possible...
3rd person point of veiw. Little did the pack know that Peter had found and carried his nephew out of that building,  alive. He sought out help from an unsuspected ally he had met the night at the school....

"So Boyd and Cora might not have killed anyone?"  I asked into the phone, I was still groggy but we had taken out the IV as my wounds were completely gone. Stiles had woken me up by blowing up my phone. Derek was downstairs getting me something to eat. I hadn't even realized how hungry I was until my stomach growled loudly for about a minute. He's been acting all kinds of strange this morning.
"You're gonna wish they did." Stiles said and I raised my eyebrows, then realized he can't see my face over the phone.
"Why?" I asked. I was glad that I was healed up that meant I didn't have to sit on my ass anymore while everyone else is busy fighting the new supernatural issue of this week.
"I'm not exactly sure yet. The other girl who was out in the woods, Emily? Eventually they're gonna find her. She's one of them. Emily, Heather... That guy Lydia found at the pool. All three were virgins... And they're all gonna have the same three injuries... strangled, throat slashed, head bashed in. It's called the threefold death." Stiles said and I flashed back to my episode in the tub. My head hurt, I couldn't breathe and my neck hurt...but how did I feel those things? I'd have to have a connection with someone ..but I've never even met any of them other than Heather...
"So if these aren't random killings, then what are they?" I asked and almost instantly regretted it.
"Sacrifices. Human sacrifices."
"I looked everywhere. It's like he just walked away. Left his car, his dog." Scott said pulling me from the conversation I had with Stiles last night. We were currently on the lacrosse feild waiting for Coach. And of course I was with Scott and Stiles because clearly I spend all of my time stuck up their asses, saving their lives and shit.
"Okay. Was he, like... could he have been a virgin maybe? Did he look like a virgin? Was he, you know, virginal?" Stiles asked and I coughed, choking on the water I'd been sipping on.
"No, definitely not. Deaton makes me have sex with all of his clients. It's a new policy." Scott said and we both started chuckling then I looked at Stiles' "wtf" face and lost it. "No, I don't know if he was a virgin. And why are you talking like he's already dead? He's just missing." Scott said after I calmed down.
"Missing and presumed dead because he's probably a virgin, Scott. And you know who else is a virgin? Me. I'm a virgin, okay? And you know what that means? It means that my lack of sexual experience is now literally a threat to my life. Okay, I need to have sex, like, right now. Someone needs to have sex with me, like, today. Like, someone needs to sex me right now!" Stiles said yelling the last part and all I could think was I was also fucked because I haven't fucked.
"All right, I'll do it." Came Danny's face and I almost karate chopped him in the throat.
"What?" Stiles asked.
"Come to my place at 9:00. Plan to stay the night. I like to cuddle." Danny said. Scott and I just shared amused looks. I was so glad that I wasn't still on bed rest.
"Oh. That was so sweet. Are you kidding?" Stiles asked and I just looked at him with a huge smile then to Danny with puppy dog eyes.
"Yes, I'm kidding." Danny said as he walked away.
"Okay, you know, you don't toy with a guy's emotions like that, Danny. It's not attractive, all right?" I yelled after him, coach had finally shown up and all the boys were circling around him. I stayed off to one side as usual.
"Mr. Lahey, happy to have you back. Not happy that you're late." Was the first thing coach said even though he too was late.
"Sorry, coach."
"I'll remind you all, cross-country is not optional for lacrosse players. I don't need you turning into a bunch of fat-asses in the off-season. So work on that. And Blackridge I expect to see you there as well." Coach said and I felt somewhat baffled that he even realized that I was still around. It was the first thing he's said to me all off season.
I decided that I needed Stiles to run me to the house so that I could get something to run in. Then I decided because why the hell not, to ask Scott to take me instead. I still haven't even ridden on his dirt bike yet. He agreed and the ride to the house was adrenallizing and fast. Literally we were there within 10 minutes.
I ran inside and got on the pair of running shorts I wear when I go on jogs by myself. I stopped when I realized that I wouldn't be by myself and nobody has seen my scars and I'm not really ready for them too either. So I slipped on some leggings  instead.
When we got to the running trails everyone was about to start running. Just in time.
"Pace yourselves! Come on!" Coach said as he blew the whistle. Everyone started running while Scott and I ran up too Isaac who seemed really irritated.
"Isaac!" Scott said placing a hand on his shoulder to stop him.
"It's them." Isaac said and I raised my eyebrows in confusion right before he took off running.
"Isaac, wait!" Scott yelled as I took off running as well. I wanted to know who he was talking about. "Alex!?" Scott yelled as I ran to catch up with Isaac. Even with my abilities as a guardian it was difficult to keep up. I followed Isaac around a corner and came to an immediate stop as I crashed into his body. He was too busy turning in every direction looking for whoever it was we were chasing and then he was tackled. By the twins.
"Ethan, I always forget, how many bones in the human body?" Aiden said.
"I don't know. Let's count." Ethan said as they were about to snap his arm. I acted on instinct when I saw Scott punch Ethan in the face. I jumped and kicked Aiden in the chest.
"That's atleast two." Scott said as we got Isaac to his feet. Growling and the sound of a bone snapping back in place echoed through the air. We all got out our claws and teeth and were about to kick some serious ass when a loud scream filled the space around us.
Scott and Isaac got there first. I was about to push myself through the crowd when Stiles ran over to me and grabbed me by the shoulders.  There were tears in his eyes and something was most certainly wrong.
"Alex, don't. You don't need to see that. Come on." Stiles said and I was beginning to feel sick, anxiety rushing through my body like it was oxygen.
"Stiles move." I said and he looked at me and slightly shook his head. "Move or I will move you myself." I said my hands shaking, and my eyes watering but still he didn't budge. So, being the stubborn bitch I am, I moved him, rather easily pushing him put of the way with one hand. I pushed past others while everyone stared at me with wide eyes.
When I saw what everyone was staring at everything seemed to slow down as I fell to my knees. A scream escaping my throat and someone touching my arm. I lashed out hitting them in the jaw. Crawling over to her body I grasped on. Crying I pushed everyone who tried to get me to leave off. Completely blocking them out. A wave of anger swept over me and I punched the ground. Grabbing onto the wire around her throat I ripped it off, not even caring that a girl my size shouldn't be able to snap wire like that, and everyone saw me do it. Holding her body in my arms staining my clothes and hair with blood as I sobbed holding on.
"Alex!" I heard Scott yell. He grabbed me by the shoulders and tried picking me up but I struggled. I fought back. There was nothing he could do that would make me leave her. She never left me. I landed back on the ground and scampered over to her body. Placing both hands on her, knowing my arms were hidden I tried to heal her. But Guardians can't bring the dead back to life. Not with out giving up my own.
"Someone  needs to get her out of here. Hey, get out of the way. Get back. Get this area cordoned off before they trample every piece of evidence." I heard the familiar voice of Sheriff Stiliniski call out. People started shuffling but none left. I clung on even harder. Praying for the purple veins. The pain. The healing. "SCOTT! GET YOUR SISTER OUT OF HERE RIGHT NOW." Sheriff yelled and Scott walked back over to me. But I just glared up at him, feeling anger, and hate, and pain filling my body..Pain....I looked back down and through tear's  saw the purple.
"Alex, come on. ALEX! STOP IT!" Scott yelled grabbing my arms and pulling them away  from Bree's bruised and bloodied body. I felt sick as I looked into the eyes of Scott McCall. If it wasn't for him, if it wasn't for Peter, she would still be alive. I brought my hands up to my face, wiping the tears away and hitting Scott in the face...again...he backed off, wiping the blood for his lips.
Then I saw Derek and Stiles walking over to us. The complete and utter hate I felt growing in my chest, filling my body was beginning to be too much for me to handle. I crashed. Everyone was staring at me as my chest flew up and down with ragged breaths. My vision blurred and I became light headed my entire body becoming stiff as I looked around at the people staring at me. I couldn't hear what anyone was saying as my eyes fluttered closed and I met the ground.
Flash back "Sweetheart,  I need to know your name. Can you just tell me your name?" The lady known as Bree Maxwell asked me yet again, she was crouched in front of me using the sides of the chair I was sitting in to keep balanced. It was light outside now and I was sitting in the Kings police station. I refused to speak, knowing no one would believe me. Knowing they wouldn't understand that the people who just murdered my family weren't human. They weren't even people. The bite from last night was gone. There was no trace of it at all and it scared me.
"Alex. Alex Blackridge is her name." One of the police men who was sitting at a computer said, not even glancing back. The lady's face softened into a smile.
"Alex it's okay. You can tell me what happened. I'll believe anything and everything you say." She said and I rolled my eyes. And when I saw the men in white scrubs walking in and towards me I freaked out. I stood up and ran as far as I could when I was grabbed by an officer. I struck him in the stomach but that didn't faze him so I brought my knee up to every guys golden spot.
He let go and I took the only shot I had of getting out, the window to my right. There was a bar above it and I used momentum to pull myself up and kick it. It all happened so fast I don't think anyone realized. I landed on my hands and knees and rolled. I was fast on my feet and then I was gone into the woods.
It wasn't  long before I was on the ground curled into a ball sobbing so hard that I couldn't breathe. I fell asleep that morning shivering and holding onto myself for warmth. I didn't even hear her walk up. Until she was right above me.  I scooted back as I spoke.
"I'm not going back. I'm not going with you. Just leave me alone. Everyone who gets close to me, tries to help me, dies."
Everyone who gets close to me, tries to help me, dies.
Everyone who gets close to me, tries to help me, dies.
End of flash back.
I woke up screaming. And Derek ran through the door, I was in his room on his bed. I still..  I just can't understand why her. Why Bree? She didn't deserve this. Any of it. Derek looked at me like I was a time bomb about to explode and maybe I was. Maybe I was going to. And if I did it was going to be bad.
"Alex.. are you okay?" Derek asked as he walked closer. I shot him a look like 'the fuck do you think' and he held up his hands in defense. He handed me a package of cigarettes and a lighter. I know he doesn't approve of smoking but right now I couldn't care less. I lit one up and took a big long drag. Choking on tears as I blew it out. I might as well just smoke myself into oblivion. We sat in silence as I smoked the cigarette.
Derek not daring to look away nor speak, I wanted so badly to throw myself onto him and forget everything and at that point there wasn't much stopping me. I put the cigarette out and wrapped my legs around him, kissing him feverishly and trying to forget that I had just seen the body of the only person who has stayed with  me as long as her, strangled and left out for the whole world to see. He pulled out of the kiss and when I tried to go back in he rejected it. I nodded getting off and going downstairs. Only to see Cora staring at me with her hands on her hips. She looked judgemental.
"Do you have something to say?" I asked harshly. I wasn't in the mood for no bitch who tried  killing me staring at me like I did something wrong.
"Are you fucking my brother?" She asked and I just scoffed and went back upstairs. Adding a none of your fucking business look. I bumped into Derek on the way back upstairs.
"You okay?" Derek asked and I looked at him like he was stupid.
"Are you really that fucking stupid that you have to ask if I'm okay? The person who has always been right there next to me since I lost my parents is dead. Left on display for the entire world to see. No I am not okay." I said and Derek just looked at his feet before nodding and going downstairs. I decided to go and sit on the top of the stairs and watch Derek, it kept my mind from wondering. I watched as Derek went over to his sister who was working out and listening to music.
"Stop. You're not done healing." Derek said  totally not interested.
"Yeah? Well, I'm done lying around." Cora retorted
"Then sit." Derek ordered.
"Are you gonna help me go after them? Now that you have the help of a freaking Guardian, we can do anything short of dying." Cora said and I bit my tongue, knowing Derek wouldn't be very pleased if I told his little sister to piss off. She jumped up and threw several hits at Derek who easily dodged her arms and caught them. I was standing now. Ready to attack.
"Come on, fight back! I came back for this? I can't believe I got my ass thrown in a vault for three months for you. All those rumors I heard. A powerful new Alpha, one of the Hales, was building a pack. And with a Guardian? Do you know how long I waited to hear something like that? Do you have any idea how it felt to find out you were alive?" Cora said and I guess I saw her point. But she didn't see how much she hurt Derek. Insulting him, yeah he put on a emotionless facade but I know how he felt.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you." Derek said just before the loft alarm went off. I ran down to where Derek was and shifted. Ready to fight. Ready to get this out of my system before I do explode.
"What's that?" Cora asked and I looked at Derek.
"Trouble." We both said at the same time. And then the door opened and we saw the man from the other day at the hospital the bald man. He growled, baring his teeth. Just as Cora charged.
"No, wait. Wait!" Derek yelled and she was thrown to the ground with ease.
"Ready for a rematch?" The man asked and I looked at Derek who shook his head very slightly. Then a women with really nasty looking nail came in wearing no shoes. She kicked at Derek while the bald man charged me. I ran back using the guard rail on the stairs to hoist myself into the air my feet connecting with his face but he seemed unaffected by this. As he threw me to the wall and I  heard bones snap in my side, my ribs.. he waited for me to get up and when I did my bones were still healing. There was no way I could win this but I didn't give up. He threw me back to where Cora lay and pinned both of our heads to the ground making it inevitable to look away as Derek was pinned to the ground by a metal pipe being stuck through his back. I let out an ear piercing scream and was smack in the face. Cora had been watching and crying. I shut my eyes as tightly as possible.
"Everybody done? 'Cause just listening to that was exhausting. So... Let's chat." I heard another voice say and opened my eyes.
"Sorry about this, Derek. I asked Kali to be gentle, but..." the blind man, Deucalian said.
"this is me being gentle." Kali said as she pushed the bar even further into him. It was already poking through the other side.
"Let... let them go." Derek muttered blood dripping from his lips. We were let go and Cora clung onto me pulling me towards her brother.  "No." Derek said and I stopped walking, Cora still holding onto my arms. Neither of us cared, we just needed reassuring and stability as we were both still very hurt.
"See? We're not unreasonable." Deucalian said.
"What do you want? You want to kill me?" Derek asked. I cringed at the thought, just thinking about it made my blood boil.
"You really think I'm that boring? Don't throw me in with sociopaths like your Uncle. I'm a man with far more vision than simple murder. In fact...  I'm here to show you just how much vision a blind man can have." Deucalion said pulling his glasses off and showing his blood red eyes.
"You're killing him!" Cora yelled as Kali twisted the pipe. She went to walk and I pulled her back.
"Not yet, little sister. But I could." Kali said and I became even more pissed off. "Who knows if it's five minutes or five hours before it's too late to take this thing out? But just to be on the safe side, Duke, you might want to get to the point." She added and I dug my claws into my palm.
"Now you see the one problem with being in an Alpha pack. Everybody wants to make the decisions. Me? I'm more about discovering new talents... Like you." Deucalian said and Cora's grip on me tightened.
"Not interested." Derek said, spit and blood falling from his lips. I hated seeing him like this. Powerless.
"But you haven't even heard my pitch." Deucalian said and I looked at Cora who just shrugged.
"You want me to... Kill my own pack." Derek stuttered. My heart almost stopped when I processed what he said
"No. I want you to kill one of them. Do that, and I won't have to ask you to kill the others. You'll do it on your own. I did it. Ennis did. Kali did. Tell him what it's like, Kali, to kill one of your own." Deucalian said and I looked at Derek then to the wolf she bitch holding the pipe in his back.
"Mm... Liberating." Kali said and I sucked in a breath.
"Listen to me, Derek. Do you really want to stay beholden to a couple of maladjusted teenagers bound to become a liability? And believe me, they will become a liability. In fact... I have a feeling one of them is getting himself into trouble right now." Deucalian said and I hoped to God it wasn't Scott..
"See, the reason I'm always invested in new talent is simple. We all know a pack is strongest due to its individual parts. The stronger the individual parts, the greater the whole. When I lost my sight, one of my betas assumed I wasn't fit for my role anymore. He tried to take it from me. Killing him taught me something about alphas I didn't know they could do. His power was added to mine. I became stronger, faster, more powerful than I'd ever been. I tested this new ability to subsume the power of your own by killing another one. In fact, Derek, I killed them all. I took the individual parts and became a greater individual whole. You're right, Kali. He looks like his mother. You'll get to know me, Derek. Like she did." Deucalian said and I knew he hit a soft stop. You don't speak of Derek's mother. Cora's claws came out and drew blood on my arm but I couldn't care less.
"I know you. I know what you are. You're a fanatic." Derek said.
"Know me? You've never seen anything like me. I am the Alpha of alphas. I am the apex of apex predators! I am death, destroyer of worlds! I am the demon-wolf! Hate it when that happens." By this time Cora and I were hiding behind a pole clinging to each other as if we could protect ourselves by holding each other. It wasn't until they had left that we ran over to Derek. I pressed my hands on his stomach and let the purple run up my arms. And my body beginning to feel weak. The purple was almost to my shoulders when I passed out.
Flash back. "Okay Alex, I have a game we can play. I tell you something about myself and you tell me something  about yours." Bree said, we were sitting on the bed that was in my hospital room. Bree has been working with me for about 8 months now and she says I'll be able to get out in 4 months if I keep up the progress.
"Okay..." I agreed.
"When I was about 6 years old my mom and dad took me to the park and there were so many people I couldn't find them when I got lost. So I climbed all the way to the top of the slide and yelled there names. When they found me I got so excited I fell off of the slide and broke my wrist." Bree said and I felt jealous.
"When I was 6 years old I was stuck in a cage." I said and Bree's face softened.
"Do you have any good memories?" She asked and I thought about it before numbly nodding my head.
"When I escaped, I burned the house down. All the girls had already been shot down and killed. I removed their bodies before I set the fire." I said feeling numb again. Bree looked at me like I was insane.
"What about when you got back with your family?" She asked.
"You mean the people who didn't even recognize their own daughter, covered in blood and wearing rags. You know this one time they took me to the park and instead of falling off of a slide and breaking my arm when I got lost, I got a rag in my face and woke up in a cage covered in my own piss." I said and she shook her head.
"That's enough for today." She said as she walked out of the room.
Flash back ends.
"Ah... I don't get it. Look, did something happen?" I heard Isaac's voice come from downstairs.
"It's just not gonna work with both of you here. I've got Cora now. It's too much. I need you out tonight." Derek said and my breath caught in my throat as I walked down stairs to Derek.
"Where am I supposed to go?" Isaac asked and tears had filled my eyes by this time. The pain in his voice making my chest hurt.
"Somewhere else." Derek said and I stayed where I was to listen.
"Did I do something wrong, Derek?" Isaac asked. And I felt a pang in my chest again .
"You're doing something wrong right now by not leaving." Derek spat and I felt disgusted.
"Oh, come on." Isaac said.
"Just get out." Derek said.
"Derek, please." Isaac begged, I'd never seen him act like that.
"Get out." Derek yelled again. Becoming more aggressive.
"Come on." Isaac said again and that's all it took for Derek to break. He turned around throwing something glass at Isaac and he recoiled dodging it just barely. As Derek yelled go.
"DEREK!" I yelled and he looked up at me.
"Alex..this isnt...what it looks like." Derek stuttered to come up with a feasible lie.
"Come on Isaac, you can stay with Scott and I. Derek, I'll talk to you later." I said as we walked out of the loft and down the stairs into the rain. It was quite a walk but it was worth it. In that time I got to know Isaac much better.  When we got there I went to my room while Scott and Isaac talked. I spent the rest of the night crying and fell asleep early in the morning.

Fireflies
Derek stayed with me all night while Peter and Scott searched for the awall werewolves. It was nice, feeling his arms around me all night. It made me feel safe. Apparently Scott had carried Erica's body out of the bank, when Derek told me I cried. My wounds are healing rapidly they should be mostly gone by tomorrow night. Scott had to tell mom what happened and why I wouldn't be home, she provided Deaton with the IV. I still feel like shit.
**Scott's Point Of Veiw.** It's been an extremely crazy night. Boyd and Derek's sister have gone biserk. They're out running around blood thirsty and ready to kill. They already almost killed Alex, what ever she did....how ever she protected us....it wore her out to the point that she couldn't even heal. Derek is at the loft with her, and although I don't like the idea of them being...so close....I think it might be good for both of them. When Alex is around him she seems so much more relaxed. And Derek isn't as much of a dick when she's around. I think she is gonna be good for him. I had to tell my...our...mom that Alex was hurt pretty badly and would be staying at Derek's house. She was freaked out at first, but I calmed her down. At the moment I'm running around the woods after Boyd. Peter is chasing Cora. That and now Allison is mad at me because of Derek. She knows how what her mom did and it makes me feel sick thinking of Allison thinking of her mom... a loud scream filled my ears and I ran towards it although I was still quite aways away I picked up pace.
"Billy? Run! Run!" I heard a child scream and ran faster towards them. I saw where they were and why they were so scared. It was some kind of shed and Boyd was outside. Searching for a way to get in.
"He's gonna get in. He's gonna get inside." The younger one cried and I ran even faster.
"Shut up, shut up." The girl whispered and I found a jar of fireflies laying on the ground and waited for the right moment to distract him. Boyd managed to pick the shed up and throw it. That's when I threw the fireflies. While he is was too busy swatting and growling at them I got the kids and ran, carrying both of them I got far enough away for Boyd not to hear or smell us and called Peter.
"You lost them?" He asked in that beyond annoying way of his. I understood why Derek stayed with Alex but God I hate this man.
"Yeah, I kind of had to." I said, slightly annoyed.
"Wasn't exactly the plan."
"I know, which is why I think that we should stick together. Trust me, he's too strong, too fast, and way too angry for one person to handle. We've got to do this together." I said and I heard Peter sigh.
"Look, I'm at the trails by the entrance to the preserve. Can you meet me here?" He asked.
"Yeah. Just got to drop something off first." I said before hanging up the phone. The children were calmed down just a little bit enough to tell me where they lived. I got them home safely and made them promise me not to go outside after dark and especially on a full moon. They swore they wouldn't and I watched them go inside. After that I sprinted the entire way to Peter. When I got there I saw him staring at 2 sets of foot prints..
"Is it them?" I asked and Peter nodded before speaking.
"We're not the only ones that decided to stick together." He said as if it were completely obvious.
"Is that gonna make it easier or harder to catch them?" I asked as we followed the prints and the scent. It was very strong anger.
"I don't know." Peter said as we quickened our pace.
"Peter ... I saw Boyd try to rip two little kids apart. Are they gonna do that to everyone they find?" I asked as I stopped to look at him. He stopped as well and stared at me with a serious look as if he were deep in thought then he started jogging again.
"Everyone and anyone." Peter said.
**Alex's Point Of Veiw** I was woken up by an ear piercing scream, Derek apparently hadn't heard it as he was sound asleep next to me.
"Derek...Derek did you hear that? Derek!" I said and he opened his eyes.
"What?" Hs asked in a groggy voice.
"I thought I heard...never mind...let's just go back to sleep..." I said and Derek nodded and wrapped me up in his arms, his touch gentle. His breathing steadied in seconds and I felt asleep.
**Scott's Point Of View**
Emily! Em? Emily, where are you? Emily! I heard some girl yell from pretty far away. Peter and I sprinted there, I got there first as Peter was still slow. I saw Isaac fighting Cora and did a front flip over him sliding in front of her I let out a throaty growl. Peter showed up a second later growling in her face and once she realized she was out numbered she sprinted the other way. Isaac and Peter fast in her trail. I turned to the girl who was standing by her tent. Quickly shifting back to my human form I raised my hands slowly walking towards her. She backed up so I stopped still keeping my hands raised.
"Are you okay?" I asked and she looked utterly confused.
"What?" She asked.
"Are you all right?" I asked and she nodded slightly. "You need to get out of here, okay? Get out of the woods. Get out of here as fast as you can." I said and she nodded I turned to catch up with Isaac and Peter. We met up pretty quickly and found that Cora was gone yet again. Then my phone rang and it was Stiles, he told me that Lydia found a dead body at the pool in town. I asked him to see if it could have been Boyd because he was no where to be found. He said that the throat had been ripped out.
"Are you sure?" I asked.
"Yep. Throat ripped out, blood everywhere. It's like the frickin' shining over here. Two little twin girls come out of the woods, start asking me to play with them forever and ever, I'm not gonna be surprised." Stiles said and if we weren't under the circumstances we are maybe I would have laughed. Or smirked.
"Can you get a little closer to make sure it was them?" I asked and Stiles sighed, I know he gets fidgety around blood but come on this is life or death.
"Make sure it was them? Scott, who else is going around ripping throats out?" Stiles asked and I looked over to Peter who was growing very impatient.
"Please just do it." I said and Stiles did just that, telling me the kid was wearing a purity ring before hanging up
"This doesn't make any sense. The public pool is all the way on the other side of the woods. We haven't tracked them anywhere near there." Peter said and I agreed but I mean who else could it be?
"Peter, they killed someone."
"How are they moving so fast?" He asked. I had no answer other than that they are.
"Peter." I said.
"But they can't be that fast on foot." He said.
"They killed someone. Some totally innocent kid is dead... And it's our fault." I said looking into the darkness of the woods.
"It's my dumbass nephews fault. Slightly yours as well. This. This has nothing to do with me. I'm just cleaning up another one of Derek's messes." Peter growled and I was glad that Alex wasn't around because he would have caught her fist with his face.
"We need help." I said.
"We have Isaac now." Peter sassed.
"I mean real help. They're too fast for us, for all of us. They're too strong, too rabid." I said and Peter stared at me like I was dumb.
"We'll catch 'em." Peter said.
"What happens if we do? We just gonna hold them down until the sun comes up?" Isaac said and we both looked at him.
"Maybe it would be easier just to kill 'em." Peter said with a sadistic tone in his voice.
"Killing them isn't the right thing to do." I said, once again thanking Alex for not being here.
"What if it's the only thing to do? If we can't even catch them, what else do we do?" Isaac asked and the thought that had been in my head came back. Knowing Peter wouldn't like it only made it better.
"Find someone who knows what they're doing." Was simply all I said.
"Who?" Peter asked.
"Someone who knows how to hunt werewolves." I said and Peter's face fell like I knew it would. I went to talk to Chris first knowing Peter and Isaac would not help our situation. So they sat in the car behind us.
"Uh, hi." I said, approaching Chris. I proceeded to fill him in on what was going on.
"First of all, why would I care about anyone related to Derek and Peter ? And second, I don't know this kid Boyd. I don't even know his last name." Chris finally said completely not interested.
"Boyd is his last name." I said.
"What's his first name?"
"Vernon. Eh. And just curious, is there a reason the gun is still pointed at me?" I asked looking at the gun currently pointed at my head.
"Well, there's probably still some part of me that wants to shoot you." Chris said.
"I get that." I said and Chris lowered the gun. He sucked in a deep breath before speaking.
"Scott, I watched my father brainwash my daughter... Almost turn her into a killer. That world... your world decimated mine. My wife, sister, father, my entire family. Why would I ever step foot in it again?" Chris asked and I could hear the true pain behind his words. And Chris Argent wasn't a person who you would think could feel so much pain. But he did.
"Because people are going to die. And because you know how to catch Boyd and Cora without killing them." I said and Chris just shook his head.
"I'm sorry. I can't help you." He said.
"Um... Do you think you could do me, like, one little, tiny favor?" I asked and Chris just looked at me for a second. And then we got into the car. The plan working. .
"Left or straight?" Chris asked.
"Left. Sorry. It's right around the corner. That parking lot there. Yeah, just a little further up, right here. Thanks again for the ride." I said as I watched Chris's reaction to the cops and ambulance and mainly the body bag.
"They did this? Boyd and..." Chris asked.
"Cora." I finished for him.
"Where's the last place you saw them?" He asked and I showed him to the section of woods we were. "You're tracking them by print?"
"Trying to." I said.
"Well, then, you've been wasting your time. There's only one creature on earth that can visually track footprints, and that's man. And if you're not trained like me, you have no idea that this print is Boyd's and these..." Chris began and Isaac finished.
"are Cora's." He said.
"Nope. They're yours. You trampled Cora's as soon as you walked over here. Listen, I know the three of you are focusing half your energy on resisting your own urges under the full moon, but that puts you at a severe disadvantage to Boyd and Cora, who have fully given in. They put the pedal to the floor where you three are barely hitting the speed limit." Chris explained and it was true.
"So what do we do?" Peter asked.
"Focus on your sense of smell. Actual wolves are known to track their prey by up to a hundred Miles a day by scent. A trained hunter can use scent to track them. If the wind is with them, wolves can track a scent by a distance of two Miles, which means we can draw them to us... Or into a trap. Full moon does give us one advantage. They'll have a higher heat signature, which makes them easier to spot with infrared." He said pulling out a pair of infrared goggles. He went to hand them to Peter.
"Thanks, but I've got my own." He said flashing his blue eyes.
"Just remember, we're not hunting wild animals. Underneath those impulses are two intelligent human beings. Don't think they can't rely on that human side. It's suppressed, but it's there, reminding them how to mask their scent, how to cover their tracks, how to survive. When's the last time you saw your niece?" Chris asked Peter.
"Nine years. I thought she died in the fire." He said.
"Do you feel like you have a lock on her scent?" Peter shook his head then Chris turned to me.. "Scott, how confident are you in your skills?" He aske and I didn't even give it a second thought.
"Honestly, most of the time, I'm trying not to think about all the things I can smell." I said.
"All right. The problem is when they breach the woods and hit the residential area. Once they're past the high school, they're right in the middle of beacon hills." Chris said and I felt the worry growing.
"They're not gonna kill everything they see, are they?" Isaac asked.
"No. But there is an important difference to recognize. Wolves hunt for food. At a certain point, they get full. But Boyd and Cora are hunting for the pleasure of the kill, for some primal apex predatory satisfaction that comes from the ripping of warm bodies to bloody shreds. And who knows when that need gets satiated?" Chris said and I got the feeling he wanted to kill them.
"We can't kill them." I said.
"What if we can't catch 'em?" Peter asked and some part of me knew that they were right, but there is always a better way than killing.
"Then maybe we just need to contain them. There's no one in the school at night, is there?" Chris asked and I was so glad that he had agreed to help us.
"You want to trap them inside?" Peter asked in a skeptical way.
"If there's somewhere with a strong enough door, no windows or access to the outside." Chris said. And I thought of such a place. I couldn't come up with anything.
"What about the boiler room? It's just one big steel door." Isaac said and I realized he was right.
"You're sure the school's empty?" Chris asked for clarification but it was almost 3 in the morning.
"It has to be. There can't be anyone there this late, right?" I said.
"These are ultrasonic emitters. It's one of the tools we use to corral werewolves, pushing them into a direction we want them to run. Gives off a high-pitched frequency that only they can hear." Chris said and pressed a button which caused a very annoyingly high pitched mouse that sent Peter, Isaac and to our knees with our hands on our ears.
"God, no kidding!" Isaac said as Chris turned it off.
"These are gonna drive them to the school?" Peter asked and Chris nodded.
"And then it's up to you to get them into the basement." Chris said.
"Does anyone else want to rethink the plan where we just, uh, kill 'em?" Isaac asked and I glared at him.
"It's going to work." I said and Peter agreed that it's gonna work..
**Derek's Point of Veiw** She's so fragile in my arms, her petite, delicate body shaking ever so slightly in my arms with every breath she took. When I first met Alex, Scott and Stiles she was always the one that I could stand the most. She was so scared, so anxious at first but as time went on and she became a guardian she became stronger. More defined, like she never really knew herself but now she did. And then she lost it. Became that scared, anxious girl again. I know that Peter fucked her up. I know that by tracking her down and then watching her get taken and as soon as she was home he bit her, I know that screwed her up. But taking that away from her after she accepted it and learned how to deal with it broke her in ways she couldn't understand.
I knew that I would be the one to turn her again. I knew I needed her in my pack from the very beginning, with how fast she learned how to control it with how she coped so easily and how she lost herself but fought on that's the characteristics I look for in pack members.
What I didn't know was how much she would mean to me after I turned her. I didn't know that giving her the bite and re-training her would bring us closer. I didn't know that being with her would fill the void in my soul that was created because of the piece that died that night so many years ago.
I heard her phone buzz on the night stand and reached over her to get it. Being as gentle as possible not to wake her. I answered it but waiting until I was not in the room anymore to speak.
"Hello?" A females voice asked from the other line. "Alex?"
"Uhm, Alex is sick right now. She's in bed asleep. Is everything okay?" I asked, keeping my voice low.
"Bree, Alex's social worker and therapist has gone missing. Have Alex call me as soon as she is feeling better. My name is Tessa." The woman said right before hanging up. I didn't even know how to respond as I walked back into the room and laid down. I couldn't tell her until she was fully recovered. I can't stress her out.
As I kept my arms around her as gently as possible, she began squirming. It seemed like some kind of nightmare as her heart picked up and her breathing began to quicken. She wasn't in any more pain because I would feel it. I shook her just barely.
"Alex? Alex wake up.." I whispered in her ear and she opened her eyes, there were tears streaming down her cheeks and I used the pad of my thumb to wipe it away. "Are you okay?" I asked and she smiled bringing a shaking hand to my face, God I wanted to miss her so badly. Then she did. Her lips met mine and it was like tasting honey for the first time in years. She pulled away and fell back to sleep on my chest. The IV in her arm keeping her arm dangling off. I set my hand on her lower back as gently as possible. Listening to her heart beat slowing, knowing she was taken by sleep again. I fell asleep listening to her heart beat, her breaths. It was peaceful.
**Scott's Point of View** The plan is working so far. We got all the 'dog whistles* in place and are currently waiting at the school for Cora and Boyd. I walked over to where Argent was standing..
"Do you see that?" Chris said pointing up to the flying bug above us.
"Yeah, it's a firefly." I said, wondering why he took such interest in the insect
"No, no, I know, it..." Chris said shaking his head.
"What?"
"It's, uh... it's very unusual. The, uh, California fireflies aren't bio-luminescent." Chris said and i looked at hum fir second. "They don't glow." He added cleaning my confusion.
"Does that mean something?" I asked and I heard Isaac sigh under his breath.
Oh great. Isaac said and we realized that they were here.
"Come on." Chris said and we walked to where we agreed with Isaac. My jaw dropped when I realized it wasn't working.
"They're not going through the school. They're going over it."
"The red doors, someone has to get them open." Chris said as we met up with Peter and Isaac. I could hear all of our hearts racing, well other than Chris' but I mean he is a werewolf hunter...
"Someone has to drive them inside." I said after a few seconds, time was precious right now. The longer we stood and thought the faster they could get away.
"I'll go." Chris said, pulling out his electric stick of torture, and before I could volunteer Isaac did.
"No. I'm faster." He said as he took off running. Not even a few minutes later Boyd and Cora were inside the school, furiously growling.
"Come and get us." Peter growled before we took off running to the basement, they followed but we had to find a way to distract them from killing us long enough to get out of the basement. I tossed Peter a fire extinguisher that I had seen laying on the ground. He was closest to the 2 so he sprayed them with the white smoke, infuriating them even more. We ran out and locked the door.
"Did that actually just work?" I asked in disbelief.
"It worked." Peter said and I pushed passed sticking one ear to the door and listening. "What are you hearing?" Peter asked and I focused even harder.
"Heartbeats." I said. The racing hearts in the room were extremely loud, I'm sure even a human could hear them if it weren't for the growling and sniffing.
"Both of 'em?" Peter asked ad I listened as they got louder the growls audable even for Peter. Then I heard it. Very faint and very fast. But noticeably another pulse.
"Actually... Three of them." I said turning back to Peter. We had just locked some random person probably even ad teacher in the basement with 2 moon deprived wolves.
"What are you doing?" Peter asked me as I readied myself for the possible outcomes.
"Close the door behind me and keep it shut." I said. Looking Peter directly in the eye.
"You go in there alone, and you're either gonna kill them, or they kill you." Peter stated as if he actually cared. I scoffed, barely even fazed by his fake worry.
"That's why I'm going in alone." I said and right before I walked in Peter grabbed my arm and shoved me back, causing me to fall onto my ass, all the while staring me in the eyes. Then he slammed the door. Fighting broke out not even seconds later. It was already early in the morning. I heard growling but too much to decide who it was coming from all though I'm sure it was all of them.
"Scott The sun's coming up. Scott! The sun's coming up!" Isaac yelled and as soon as the light crept into the building the fighting stopped for the most part any ways. The door opened and Isaac and I rushed in. Peter meeting us half way.
"There's a teacher. I'll take care of her. Get them out of here." He whispered. His shirt was torn and tattered covered in blood, his wounds slowly healing themselves. Blood was splattered on his face as his eyes went from their natural shinning blue to normal human eyes. We got Boyd and Cora out and back to the Loft shortly after. As soon as I walked in I ran up to Alex. She was doing a lot better and was on the phone with Stiles. I didn't even have I ask as he had already called and explained everything to me. Boyd and Cora might not have killed anyone but something much, much worse happened. Human sacrifices.

Chaos Rising
With everything that is going on right now, Stiles still thinks that we deserve to be normal teenagers and go to a high school party, best part? It's not even people from our school throwing the party. Scott nor I even want to be here. There are better things to do right now, more important things that need to be done. We have to prepare for the up coming war. But no, we are here at a high school party. Scott and I shared annoyed looks before meeting eyes with Stiles.
"What?" Stiles asked and I let out a very heavy sigh.
"What, what do you mean, "what"?" Scott asked and I pulled out my phone 8:37 was the time and I honestly didn't want to be here. I hate meeting new people.
"I mean "what," and you know what." Stiles said and if I didn't know these boys like the back of my hand I would have been so confused as to "what" they were talking about.
""What" what?" Scott asked and I chuckled a little bit.
"That look you were giving." Stiles said and I glanced at Scott, I knew what look he was talking about. It was Scott's famous 'I don't think we should be here look.'
"I didn't give a look." Scott responded looking to me for help.
"Oh, there was a distinct look, Scott." I joined in, although I understood because I was wearing that same look right now.
"What look?" Scott asked, god this kid.
"The look that says that the last thing you feel like doing right now is going to a party."Stiles said and I looked at him with wide eyes, as if he has forgotten that there is this big bad alpha pack on our asses.
"It's not that. It just seems weird going to a different high school's party." Scott said and my jaw dropped at his response.
"Uhhm, I think you both have forgotten that there is a freaking alpha pack in town as of 3 months ago." I said and they both looked at me. "Look guys, I let you have the summer off, but we have to deal with this. Don't you understand what this means?" I asked and they both just ignored everything I'd just said.
"What? Would you... God, one drink, all right? You'll be fine. I went to nursery school with this girl, okay? She promised to introduce us to all of her friends. So tonight, no Allison, no Lydia. Tonight, we're moving on." Stiles said and I was dumbfounded at their ability to ignore the giant purple elephant that just so happened to have teeth and claws and oh yeah, red glowing eyes.
"You're right." Scott said and for a second I thought he was talking to me then he patted Stiles on the back. Unbelievable.
"That's right I'm right." Stiles said. They are so beyond stupid.
"Moving on." Scott said as they started walking towards the house we had been standing in front of.
"Onward and upward." Stiles added. I just stood there watching the two for a moment.
"Let's do this." Scott said and I shook my head as I watched Scott ask Stiles to smell his breath, once denied he asked for gum then who's party it was. I agreed to meet Stiles' friend but I knew I wasn't going to be staying I had already asked Derek to come and get me so we could go on another run. I was talking to Heather, Stiles' friend, when that screaming and crying filled my head again, but this time it was different. I turned around and left with out saying anything. It wasn't like they were dead, more like, they were holding on praying to someone but they got me instead. I started seeing images of them and before I knew it I was laying on the ground in some random girl's bathroom. I woke up to Derek carrying me out of the house.
"Derek....They're still alive.." I said and he looked down at me. "Erica and Boyd are still alive." I said before passing out in his arms. It seemed like a dream, but I knew it wasn't. We were right though, about them being taken by the alpha pack. They'd been roaming the woods after escaping the Argent house, and they were circled. It was too dark to see much but there were 5 wolves surrounding them, I know that. I could feel the fear and confusion between Erica and Boyd. They thought they were going to find a pack and be accepted as one of theirs but they were wrong and they knew that now, Erica was almost in tears as her hand was taken by Boyd's. Then the 2 of them, although they tried to put up a fight, they were taken down and kidnapped very easily.
When I woke up I was in Derek's new loft laying on the couch. I heard Derek and Isaac talking in the kitchen and went to join them.
"You know, I'm starting not to like this idea. Sounds kinda dangerous. You know what? I definitely don't like this idea, will she even know what she's doing?" Isaac asked and I stayed behind the corner.
"You'll be fine, she's a Guardian. And Alex, come out of your hiding place I can hear your pulse." Derek said and I walked around the corner to meet the eyes of Derek while Isaac and Peter just stared at me.
"What the hell are you talking about in here and I'm not exactly a Guardian anymore." I said then met eyes with Peter. "Remember that?" I growled at him. He simply looked away.
"Alex, we all know that your powers are coming back." Derek said and I just shrugged and asked what we were doing again only to be ignored.
"Are we sure this is safe?" Isaac asked again.
"She knows how to do it. She's a Guardian it'll come naturally to her, she won't even have to try. I don't. Be more dangerous if I tried doing it myself or if Peter tried." Derek said and the confusion I felt was growing with each word he said.
"I don't know if I can really trust that she's gonna know what she's doing." Isaac said and I turned back to Derek.
"Do you trust me?" Derek asked.
"Yeah." Isaac said. I stared at Derek hoping to get an explanation. He sighed before speaking.
"Look, you know that a Guardian can give and take memories right?" Derek asked and I nodded for him to continue speaking. "Well, Isaac here, is having troubles remembering exactly what happened the night that he was attacked by the alphas and we think that they took those memories from him because he saw or heard something he wasn't supposed to. Now, it's a very easy process, you simply take your claws and place them in the back of his neck and you will see what he can't remember. It'll be easy, because you're a Guardian." Derek said and I just stared at him with big eyes. The fuck does he mean place them in the back of his neck. Like what if I do it wrong or something? I didn't say anything just stared at him. "Alex, do it. He might know something about Erica and Boyd." Derek said and that seemed to be all I needed. I took my claws out and glanced back at Derek before getting a nod from Issac. He was sitting in a chair in front of me.
"Wait, the boy needs to relax. You'll get more if he's relaxed." Peter said and I just glared at him. But I sat one hand on Isaac's shoulder taking his anxiety away and felt his body relax before digging my claws into the back of his neck. At first I thought I'd done it wrong but then all of a sudden there they were.
"Wait, I see them." I said and I kept my voice quiet. Erica and Boyd were speaking to someone. I could barely see them. Like when a DVD starts skipping and the picture changes but you can hear what's being said so you know what's going on. That's what it was like. I let out growl, opened my eyes and pulled my hand away from Isaac, healing the bleeding wounds before speaking.
"What did you see?" Derek asked and it was hard to breathe like I'd just gotten done running.
"It was confusing. Um, im... images. Vague shapes." I said focusing very hard on the images to keep them in my head, although I didn't really need to I remembered what was said.
"But you saw something." Derek asked. I noticed the looks on his and Peter's faces.
"Isaac found them." I said looking down at the sleeping boy. I knew nothing was wrong by the steady beat of his heart.
"Erica and Boyd?" Peter asked. I nodded before speaking again. I couldn't get that feeling around my eyes to go away. It wasn't warm like when I shift, it was cold and tingly like back when I was still a Guardian.
"I barely saw them. I mean, glimpses." I said after a few seconds.
"But you did see them." Derek asked and I nodded again.
"And worse." I said thinking back to the blind man I'd seen.
"Deucalion." Peter said and I looked over to Derek, my heart rate rising as I thought about what the blind man was saying.
"He was talking to them. Something about time running out." I said and then Isaac woke up, I'd been slowly reeling him back into consciousness. I guess my healing is getting stronger..
"What does it mean?" Isaac asked. Before I could speak Derek did.
"He's gonna kill them." He said and I shook my head.
"No, no, no, no, no, he didn't say that. He did make them a promise that by the full moon that they'd both be dead." I recalled the man's words.
"The next full moon?" Peter asked and I nodded.
"Tomorrow night." I said. "This has me worn out can I lay down somewhere?" I asked and Derek nodded.
"You can lay down in my room." He said and nodded for me to follow. I did as told and once the door was shut Derek looked at me. I was already laying down on the bed when he started speaking. "Alex, your eyes..They weren't yellow." He said and I sat up and looked at him. "When you opened your eyes they were dark purple. And when you growled you had extra fangs. Alex, you were a Guardian. Like a full blown Guardian." Derek said and my heart rate sped up. I knew that my powers were coming back but I didn't think that becoming an actual Guardian was possible if Scott wasn't the Alpha. What the hell? I didn't say anything just laid back down, when Derek left I got up and ventured into the bathroom. Stripping off my clothes I got into the giant bathtub.. I was relaxing and thinking. I suddenly got this crushing feeling in my chest. It became hard to breathe I was gasping for air while I was grabbing at my neck trying to pull something from around my throat then it was like I was bashed in the head. I let out a scream mainly from fear before passing out.
"Alex?! Alex?" I heard someone yell and there was a loud noise that sounded like wood breaking. I tried opening my eyes but my eye lids were too heavy, I felt someone pick me up and wrap something around me. I couldn't remember where I was or what was going on. "Alex, can you hear me?" The person said and I opened my eyes just a little, everything was blurry and tainted by darkness. I tried to nod my head but couldn't because it was throbbing. What the hell was going on? It took me a few minutes to open my eyes and when I did I realized that I was soaking wet, and remembered that I was in the bathtub. I looked up at Derek who was holding me in his arms, a towel wrapped around my body. I sat up, clutching the towel closer around my body, and Derek searched my face for emotion. I couldn't bring myself to say anything because of the large lump that was touching my thigh...I was over taken by feelings of lust as I stared up at Derek. He was staring at me and I felt like I couldn't breathe. Then I did something...something that a year ago would have been so repulsing that I would have probably thrown up..
My lips clashed onto his and for a second I didn't know what to do then he kissed back and it was hard. His lips were soft and tasted like...cinnamon gum... The kiss itself was so intoxicating I couldn't even think about anything else. He sucked on my bottom lip and it sent shivers down my back. I felt his tongue sweep across my lip as if asking permission, I opened my mouth. Derek was an amazing kisser. I felt like I would let him do anything he wanted, anything at all...I felt the bulge on my thigh getting bigger as the kiss got hotter. Then I realized... I was sitting on a bathroom floor in only a towel making out with a guy who is 5 years older than me.
Reluctantly I pulled away from Derek. Clinging to the towel, I steadied my breathing before speaking."Derek..I think somebody died, and I need to get dressed." I said and Derek seemed to scan my body then my face.
"Who died? Erica? Boyd?" Derek asked and I shook my head. I barely knew this person. If it were Erica or Boyd I would know, but it wasn't. Derek nodded and left the room. I waited for the bedroom door to shut before dropping the towel and getting dressed. I needed to be home soon, so I could get at least 5 hours of sleep for the next day at school. Derek drove me home in a comfortable silence. I felt obliged to give him a quick kiss for the night, he seemed satisfied as I got out of the car. He didn't leave until I was inside.
The rest of the night and following day went by in some kind of daze, I couldn't get the taste of Derek out of my mouth nor head. Before I knew it I was in the gym with Stiles, Lydia, Scott and Allison. It was lunch time and yet again, I couldn't eat. Then Derek walked in and Scott filled him in on the bruises and the girl. He took a look at Lydia and Allison's arms.
"I don't see anything." Derek said. I took in his features, knowing he knew I was. His hair was spiked and standing up in all the right places, his leather jacket clinging to him but not like the tight black shirt that sculpted his body perfectly, leaving very little to imagine.
"Look again." Scott said to Derek. Don't mind if I do. I thought to myself, then reality kicked in and I thought about the bruises. I didn't see anything at first either.
"How is a bruise going to tell me where Boyd and Erica are?" Derek asked. I knew this would be the response he gave, because it was mine too.
"Derek, it's the same on both sides." I said pointing to Allison's wrist, then to Lydia's. "Exactly the same." I said and I made sure not to touch either wrist, as my touch would heal the bruises and they both said that they don't want that. He just shrugged it off.
"It's nothing." He said, dismissing it with a wave of his hand. I didn't say anything, because it didn't seem to make sense to me anymore for some reason.
"Pareidolia. Seeing patterns that aren't there. It's a subset of apohenia." Lydia said and I was hoping I wasn't the only one confused by this. I watched as Derek turned and walked away.
"They're trying to help." Scott said and suddenly an anger swept from Derek to me as he spun around.
"These two." He said before pointing to Lydia. "This one who used me to resurrect my psychotic uncle? Thank you." He said before turning to Allison. "And this one who shot about 30 arrows into me and my pack. Not to mention, she tried to kill Alex..Again. Scott? No words for your little high school girlfriend trying to kill the only person who can help you survive all of this in one piece? Didn't think so." Derek said and I tensed up as Allison's eyes fell on me. There were so many emotions in that room that I felt I was going to pass out. I dropped my eyes to the floor.
"Okay, alright, now come on. No one died alright? Look, there may have been a little maiming, okay, a little mangling but no death. That's what I call important distinction." Stiles said and suddenly sadness and anger out ruled every other emotion in there.
"My mother died." Allison spat. I couldn't even bring my eyes up to look at her. She still didn't know the truth.
"Your family's little honor code killed your mother. Not me." Derek said in response. His emotions seemed the easiest for me to tap into. I don't know why though.
"That girl was looking for Scott. I'm here to help him, not you." Allison said and I just tried to focus on remaining awake and upright.
"You wanna help? Find something real." Derek said before turning and walking again.
"Derek... Give her a chance. Okay, they're on our side now." Scott said and I had to bite my tongue in order to not say anything to him about it.
"Well then maybe you should tell her what her mother was actually trying to do that night." And with that, Derek left. I decided to just go to class because I was afraid if I didn't I was gonna tell Allison the truth. I was sitting in Coach Finnstock's class reading my book, or at least trying to when Stiles and Scott walked in just before class started.
"The stock market is based on two principles. What are they? Yes, McCall, you can go to the bathroom. Anybody else?" Coach said, I glanced at Scott who was sitting in the seat to my right, and he looked confused, almost insulted even.
"Uh, no, coach, I know the answer." Came Scott's voice and I wasn't even surprised, he's been working so hard during the last few months.
"Hahahahaha Oh, you're serious." Coach laughed then realization took over and he seemed dumbfounded.
"Yes. Risk and reward." Scott said and the sheer surprise on Coach's face told us that Scott was, indeed correct.
"Wow! Who are you? And what have you done to McCall? Don't answer that. I like you better. I like you better. Does anybody have a quarter? A quarter." Coach said and most of the class just shrugged until Stiles, who is, after all Stiles reached into his pocket.
"Yep." He said as he pulled a quarter out of his pocket but my eyes were glued to the square package laying next to my foot. The package that had come from Stiles' pocket. The XXL condom that laid at my foot. The room went silent. Coach noticed as well and he must have watched it fall from Stiles because he barely even looked at me. That or he doesn't think I look like the girl who could get laid.
"Stilinski, I think you, uh... You dropped this. And congratulations. Risk and reward. Put the quarter in the mug, win the reward. Okay, watch coach. That's how you do it. Okay. Danny. Risk, reward." Coach said as he bounced the coin into the cup. Stiles face had gone red and Scott and I just looked at each other with sheepish smiles then I patted Stiles on the back. Mouthing 'Good Job'. To him, he just shrugged it off.
"What's the reward?" Danny asked.
"You don't have to take the pop quiz tomorrow." Coach said and I just stared at the man that was our Economics teacher with pure confusion as to how exactly he could get a job at a high school.
"Coach, it's not a pop quiz if you tell us about it." Danny said and although I don't think he meant to be sassy but he definitely was.
"Danny, you know, I really expect more from you at this point. Really." Then he turned to Scott and set his hands on the desk. "McCall. Risk, reward. The risk: If you don't put that quarter in the mug, you have to take the pop... the... the quiz. And... and you have to write an essay. Risk, more work. Reward... No work at all. Or choose not to play." He said. I glanced at Scott hoping he would do it, knowing he wouldn't.
"But isn't this just chance?" Scott asked. I mean, it basically was but..
"No. You know your abilities, your coordination, your focus, past experience... all factors affecting the outcome. So what's it gonna be, McCall?More work, no work, or choose not to play?" Coach said and I thought about all of our abilities, coordination, our focus...Then our past experiences.
"No play." Scott said and like I stated before I already knew his answer.
"Okay. Who's next? Who wants the quarter? There ya go! There's a gamblin' man! Come on! Step up, step up." Coach said as Stiles walked over to the front of the class. Coach clapped. " All right, Stilinski." He said as he handed him the coin. I glanced at Scott to see if he heard the footsteps as well. His tilted head answer that. He did.
"Stiles." Sheriff Stilinski said as the door opened. Stiles didn't even look up.
"Yeah, coach, I got it." Stiles said lifting his head and meeting eyes with his father. There were 2 deputies with him. Stiles walked out in confusion. I listened intently as Sheriff told his son that Heather was missing. He continued to ask questions, ending with an A.P.B.. Then Stiles came back into the class, and did the coin flip mug thing. It landed in the cup and Stiles threw his hand in the air.
"Yes!" He yelled.
"Reward! Okay, who's next? Greenberg, put your hand down. You don't have a chance." Coach said, his undying hate never ending. After class Stiles told Scott and I what we already heard and then more.
"So you think they kidnapped Heather to turn her?" I asked and Stiles nodded.
"Derek says it's easier to turn teenagers." Stiles said and I looked at Scott, we survived the bite, so why not? Right?
"But what would a pack of alphas need with a beta?" Scott asked and it was something I hadn't thought of yet.
"Scott, I don't know. I don't care. All right? This girl... Our moms were best friends before mine died, all right? We used to take frickin' bubble baths together when we were three. I gotta find her." Stiles said and I looked at him then to Scott before speaking.
"Then we need Isaac to remember." I said and Scott and Stiles stared at me for a few seconds.
"How? You couldn't do it. You know any other supernatural beings with a better trick?" Stiles asked and I looked at Scott and knew he could tell what I was thinking.
"Maybe not a werewolf. But someone who knows a lot about 'em." Scott said and then we left. Made sure Derek and Isaac met us at the Clinic.
"Obviously, it's not going to be particularly... Comfortable. But if we can slow your heart rate down enough, you'll slip into a trance-like state." Deaton said as we continued to fill the, bucket thing with ice. It was big enough for Isaac to lay in.
"Like being hypnotized." Isaac asked and Deaton nodded before speaking in his monotone voice.
"Exactly. You'll be half transformed. It'll let us access your subconscious mind." Deaton said and I looked at Scott, knowing a question was coming.
"How slow does his heart rate need to be?" Was the question.
"Very slow." Deaton said and I looked around, not knowing what was coming next, but knowing another question was coming.
"Okay, well, how slow is very slow?" Derek asked, I think somehow I knew this answer but let the Vet answer it.
"Nearly dead." Deaton said and I glanced at Isaac.
"It's safe, though, right?" He asked and I almost chuckled.
"Do you want me to answer honestly?" Deaton asked and Isaac's face changed.
"No. No, not really." Isaac said. I bit my tongue to keep the giggle back. This was a serious matter and I knew that. I watched as Isaac got into the ice tub. He slowly submerged himself into the water. His lips quivering from the cold.
"What?" Isaac asked Derek who had been starring at him contently.
"Look, if it feels too risky, you don't have to do this." Derek said but Isaac just lowered the rest of his body into the water. Then he shot up.
"Get him back under. Hold him." Deaton said and we all held onto Isaac and tried to keep him under but he was struggling way too much.
"We're trying!" Derek yelled and then Isaac's body went limp, and his eyes golden yellow.
"Now, remember, only I talk to him. Too many voices will confuse him and draw him out. Isaac? Can you hear me?" Deaton said and we all nodded at the no talking.
"Yes. I can hear you." Isaac said in a neutral voice.
"This is Dr. Deaton. I'd like to ask you a few questions. Is that all right?" Deaton asked.
"Yes." Isaac answered.
"I want to ask you about the night you found Erica and Boyd. I want you to remember it for me in as vivid detail as possible, like you're actually there again." Deaton said and the everything about Isaac changed, he became stiff and afraid.
"I, I don't wanna do that. I don't... I don't wanna do that. I don't wanna do that." Isaac kept repeating, and the fear was coming off of him like heat from a fire. We all watched as the lights flickered and they continued to do that every time Isaac got upset.
"Isaac, it's all right. Just relax. They're just memories. You can't be hurt by a memory." Deaton said and I was thinking about taking some of his fear and anxiety away. But didn't.
"I don't wanna do that." Isaac repeated.
"It's all right." Deaton said.
"I don't wanna do that." Isaac said yet again.
"Relax. Relax." Deaton said before taking my hand and placing it on Isaac's arm, he relaxed under seconds of my touch. "Good. Now let's go back to that night. To the place you found Erica and Boyd. Can you tell me what you see? Is there some kind of building? A house?" Deaton asked. Isaac's eyes darted around, although closed.
"It's not... it's not a house. It's stone. I think marble." Isaac said. Marble? Images of the basement flooded my mind.
"That's perfect. Can you give me any other descriptors?" Deaton asked and I looked at Deaton but he gave me a gesture to keep my hand on Isaac's arm. So I did.
"It's dusty, so empty. Like an abandoned building?" Isaac said. He began scrambling in the water, and he grabbed onto my arm in pure terror. I placed my other hand around his. Absorbing the fear, just a little bit at a time.
"Isaac? Isaac?" Deaton asked.
"Someone's here. Someone's here." Isaac cried out. I felt my stomach drop from the fear. It was the kind of fear I felt while trapped in that basement. Pure terror. Life or death.
"Isaac, relax." Deaton said in his cool tone voice but it didn't help.
"No, no, no, they see me, they see me!" Isaac yelled out and I held onto him trying to let the fear empty him and seep into me but it wasn't working.
"Just memories. You won't be hurt by your memories. Just relax. Relax. Good. Now tell us what you see. Tell us everything." Deaton said and Isaac went quiet for a few seconds.
"I hear him. He's talking about the full moon, about being out of control when the moon rises." Isaac told us. I heard every heart in the room rise, every heart other than Deaton's. I glanced over to Derek who was thinking very hard and so were Scott and Stiles.
"Is he talking to Erica?" Came Deaton's voice.
"I think so, I can't... I can't see her, I ca... I can't... I can't see either of them." Isaac said.
"Can you hear anything else?"
"They're worried. They're worried what they'll do during the moon. They're...Worried that they're gonna hurt each other." Isaac said.
"If they're locked in together on the full moon, they're gonna tear each other apart." Derek whispered causing my heart to race even more.
"Isaac, we need to find them right now. Can you see them?" Deaton asked. Isaac shook his head.
"No." Isaac answered.
"Do you know what kind of room it is? Is there any kind of a marker? A number on a door? A sign?" Deaton asked. I still had my hand on Isaacs and now he was clinging on to me even tighter than before.
"They're here. They... They..." Isaac stuttered. I tried to take more of his fear away. But...I couldn't...
"It's all right." Deaton said, but the fear was to immense.
"No." Isaac said in a defined voice.
"Just tell us..." Deaton began before the lights flickered again and Isaac clung on to me even tighter.
"They see me. They found me. They're here!" Isaac yelled out.
"This isn't working. Isaac, where are you?" Derek asked and Isaac became more upset.
"I can't see them. It's too dark!" Isaac yelled.
"Just tell me where you are." Derek basically yelled.
"You are confusing him." Deaton said and I stared at Derek with wide eyes.
"I can't see!" Isaac yelled.
"Isaac, where are you? Just tell me where you are!" Derek yelled and suddenly something much worse than fear took over and I felt like I was going to puke. All eyes were on me as I ran out of the room and threw up in what I hoped was a trash can. Sitting there, throw up thick in my mouth, a little in my hair, but that didn't seem to matter as I cried. Realizing that we were too late. We couldn't save her. I got myself together just as Isaac woke up walking in I couldn't look anyone in the eye.
"Isaac, where are you? What did you see?" Derek asked. I glanced at him wondering if he figured it out.
"A vault! It's a bank vault! I saw it! I saw the name. It's, uh... B-beacon hills first national bank. It's, um... it's an abandoned bank, and they're keeping them locked inside, inside the vault. What?" Isaac asked after telling them. Everyone had been staring at him, I wasn't even an exception as I stared with wide eyes.
"You don't remember what you said right before you came out of it, do you?" Stiles asked. I had heard what he said while I was sick. It made me wanna empty my stomach again.
"No." Isaac said in confusion.
"You said when they captured you that they dragged you into a room and that there was a body in it." Stiles said and I felt more tears rolling down my face as I thought long and hard about it.
"What body?" Isaac asked. His voice cracking, I couldn't keep it together at that moment. I slammed my fist into the cupboard I had been standing next to in order to keep myself standing.
"You said it was Erica." I said as I punched the wall and walked outside.
"She's not dead." Derek said, but she was. I could feel it now. A gaping hole in my soul from the death of a pack member. The death of someone I was sworn, as a Guardian of the supernatural, to protect and she's dead. She died in vain because of the lack of protection I provided her simply because I wasn't very fond of her. No matter my feelings I should have done my job and protected her. This is my fault and I know that. Now my only priority is saving Boyd and the other person in the vault.
"Derek, he said, "there's a dead body. It's Erica." Doesn't exactly leave us much room for interpretation." Stiles said and Derek looked at me and my eyes fell to the floor.
"Then who was in the vault with Boyd? Alex, tell them. Tell them she isn't dead." Derek said the last part sounding like a plea. I simply shook my head, Tears streaming down my face as I replayed the screams and the cries over and over in my mind. This is my fault.
"Someone else, obviously." Stiles said and I looked over to see Derek silently shaking his head.
"And maybe it was the girl on the motorcycle. Okay, the one who saved you?" Scott said looking to Isaac who was still wrapped up in a towel.
"No, she wasn't like us. And whoever was in the vault with Boyd was." Isaac said. I thought about other werewolves that could be in there but couldn't come up with anything.
"What if that's how Erica died?" Derek said breaking the silence that had filled the room. I felt like I was going to be sick again at the words that he said.
"They, like, put them against each other during the full moons and see which one survives. It's like werewolf thunderdome." Stiles said and I just stared at him with wide eyes wondering if he really just said that and then the realization of how not totally insane it sounded.
"Then we get them out tonight." I said breaking my streak of silence. Everyone looked at me as if I were crazy.
"Be smart about this, Alex. You can't just go storming in." Deaton said and that seemed to be all I needed to go off. I bit my tongue trying not to freak out.
"If Isaac got in, then so can we." Derek pitched in.
"But he didn't get through a vault door, did he?" Deaton asked looking at Derek then me.
"Look, Erica is dead and I didn't even help her out a little bit. You can't even begin to understand how much this is killing me. I am a Guardian of the supernatural and I am supposed to protect those in my pack. And I didn't. I could have done something to save her but I didn't. I have been hearing this screaming and crying in my head for a little while and at first I didn't know who it was but now I do. It was Erica's scream and the person crying was Boyd. I don't know what happened but what ever it was, it's my fault. And don't any one of you tell me that this isn't my fault. I neglected Erica's protection simply because I wasn't very fond of the girl. And now she's dead, okay? The only priority I have right now is saving Boyd and who ever else is in that vault. You can help me or you can watch me." I said with this new found authority in my voice and I swear to god I saw Derek smirk at my outburst.
"We need a plan." Scott said and I felt a little better knowing I wasn't alone on this.
"How are we gonna come up with a plan to break into a bank vault in less than 24 hours?" Derek asked and I hadn't even thought about that. Son of a bitch.
"Uh, I think someone already did. "Beacon hills first national closes its doors three months after vault robbery." Doesn't say here how it was robbed, but it probably won't take long to find out." Stiles said reading an article on his phone.
"How long?" Derek asked and I scoffed. Letting Stiles answer the question himself.
"It's the Internet, Derek. Okay? Minutes." Stiles sassed but that wasn't true. Scott, Stiles, and I fell asleep in Stiles room with papers scattered everywhere, yet we came up with nothing. I hadn't even realized I'd fallen asleep until Sheriff Stilinski came into the room to wake us up for school.
"Guys. Hey, time to wake up. Guys. Guys! I got to get to work. You three get to school." He said not even slightly surprised I'd slept here. He knew how close Stiles, Scott and I were. I had slept on the bed, Scott on the chair and Stiles slept with his butt in the air on the floor. He sat up and pulled a piece of paper off of his face.
"Dad! Heather?" Stiles yelled and I felt bad. His friend was still missing with out a trace.
"No, nothing yet." Sheriff replied. I felt Stiles pain in my chest.
"Ten hours and nothing." I sighed as I continued looking through the scattered papers. Hoping to find something anything.
"We're gonna find something." Scott said and I almost chuckled at the irony.
"Finding something doesn't make Erica any less dead or Boyd any less about-to-be-dead." Stiles said and my head snapped around and I just stared at him with huge eyes and my mouth slightly open. The pain in his words made my head hurt and my throat go dry. "Sorry..." he said and I just turned away as if those words were poison.
"Well, we still have time." Scott said.
"Is this whole, like, "remain optimistic in the face of complete and utter disaster" thing a part of the "be a better Scott McCall" program?" I asked realizing that it sounded kinda harsh. I looked up from the pile of papers to see Scott's face.
"Uh, not if it doesn't work." Scott said and I just went back to the papers in front if me.
"No, it works. Oh, dad! Dad? Dad!" Stiles yelled running out of the room after handing Scott a news paper. I looked at Scott in confusion and he just showed me the article. Sheriff Stilinski had been the one to bust the people who robbed the bank. Finally. Something we can go on. We got to school, I was wearing one of the outfits I'd hidden at Stiles house. The day dreaded on and on until finally we were about to go to our last hour.
"All right, so we meet at Derek's at 5:00 to go over the plan, and then we don't get started until dark." Scott said as we walked away from our lockers. I started using my old locker again because I still knew the combination.
"'Kay. What do we do till then?" Stiles asked and I looked at Scott with a smirk.
"What, right now? We've got English. And I have to use the bathroom so." I said as the boys walked to the English room and I went to the restroom. While I was washing my hands some girl with dark red hair walked into the bathroom and leaned against the wall, making eye contact with me which was uncomfortable.
"Uh...do you need something?" I asked after a minute. She just laughed.
"Yeah actually I do. You see the other day in English, after all those birds flew into the classroom I saw you get cut right? It was on your cheek. Then the weirdest thing happened it healed. In a matter of seconds the cut and the blood was just...gone.." She said and my heart rate sped up but obviously she couldn't know that because she was human.
"I don't know what you think you saw but that just sounds crazy." I said making sure my voice was steady I even added a confused expression.
"You see, that's what I thought at first too. But I started following you and your friends. And then the cut finally made sense. So Alex tell me what a Guardian is." She said and I just stared at her, not daring to speak. "Is it like a werewolf because I know those are real too. And Scott, he's a werewolf so is Derek and Isaac Lahey. And there's this guy you all seem to hate, Peter I believe, yeah he's a wolf too. I haven't figured out Stiles and Lydia yet. Allison is a werewolf hunter. And you, You're something called a Guardian. You see I've been following you Alex. I know. I know that tonight you're going to that abandoned bank right? Why?" She asked and I just looked at her wondering if this was real. I knew that one day someone was going to figure us out. But a high school girl with the fashion sense of a barbie and the voice of of a child, was the last person I expected to put it all together.
"Look, what ever your name is, a Guardian protects her pack. And I swear to God if you try to tell anyone or hurt any of them I will tear your throat out." I said, I had her pinned against the bathroom door. I decided I hadn't made a good enough point and shifted. "With my teeth." I said adding a growl from my throat. She nodded her head, obviously scared. That should be enough I thought as I went to walk out. Then I noticed something in the reflection of her glasses. I had to look in the mirror to make sure. Yep, my eyes were purple. I opened my mouth to see the 2 extra kanines. I hadn't realized that she'd left. I regained human form and walked to class. Before I knew it, we were at the loft going over plans.
"Okay. You see this? This is how they got in. It's a rooftop air conditioning vent. Leads down inside into the wall of the vault, which is here. Okay? One of the robbers was lowered into this shaft Now, that space is so small, it took him about 12 hours to drill into that wall, which is stone, by the way. Then throughout the rest of the night, they siphoned the cash up to the guys back on the roof through that one little shaft in the wall.Boom." Stiles explained. We were all looking at the blue prints laid on the table.
"Can we fit in there?" Scott asked
"Yes, we can, but very, very barely. And they also patched the wall, obviously, so we're gonna need a drill of some kind. I'm thinking maybe a diamond bit..." Stiles said and Derek cut him off.
"Look, forget the drill." Derek said and I already knew what he was thinking.
"Sorry?" Stiles asked in confusion.
"If I go in first, how much space do I have?" Derek asked and Stiles looked like he was about to implode with stupidity.
"What do you... what do you think you're gonna do, Derek? You gonna punch through the wall?" Stiles asked with a smirk on his lips.
"Yes, Stiles, I'm gonna punch through the wall." Derek said obviously not amused by Stiles.
"Okay, okay, big guy. Let's see it. Let's see that fist. Big, old fist. Make it, come on. Get it out there. Don't be scared. Big, bad wolf.Yeah, look at that.Okay, see this? That's maybe 3 inches of room to gather enough force to punch through solid co..." then Derek punched his hand and Stiles crippled over in pain. "He could do it." He said as he clutched his hand. I walked over and set my hands on it. Almost certain it was broken. I healed it.
"I'll get through the wall. Who's following me down?" Derek asked.
"Don't look at me. I'm not up to fighting speed yet, and honestly, with Isaac out of commission, you're not looking at very good odds for yourself." Peter said and I gritted my teeth. Hearing his voice alone pisses me off.
"So I'm supposed to just let them die?" Derek asked.
"One of them is already dead." Peter said and I felt my anger getting the best of me.
"We don't know that." I snapped everyone turning to me. Peter still continued talking.
"Do I have to remind you what we're up against here? A pack of alphas. All of them, killers. And if that's not enough to scare your testicles back into your stomach, try to remember that two of them combine bodies to form one giant Alpha. I'm sure Erica and Boyd were sweet kids. They're gonna be missed." Peter said and I clinched my fist.
"Could someone kill him again, please?" Stiles asked and I nodded my head. Charging at him with my claws out. Derek grabbed me and held me back while I scratched and kicked at him but he calmed me down.
"Derek, seriously? Not worth the risk." Peter said.
"What about you?" Derek said looking in Scott's direction.
"Yeah, if you want me to come..." Stiles said and I laughed, Derek letting me go. Knowing I was fine.
"Not you." Derek said.
"Got it." Stiles muttered. I knew that Derek had asked Scott to come but there was no way in hell I wasn't going.
"I don't know about Erica. But if Boyd's still alive, we have to do something. We have to try." I said. Everything in me was screaming about how fucked up my life has gotten in this last year.
"But?" Derek and Scott asked not even questioning me going.
"Who's the other girl? The one locked in there with Boyd?" I asked. It had begun to get dark outside so we were leaving soon.
"Hey Alex, come here for a second." Derek asked and I nodded following him upstairs and into his bathroom. He turned on the faucet before speaking. So that none of the Super ears would hear our conversation.
"Alex, you know that Scott and I can handle this right? You don't have to put this on yourself. You looked for them more than any of us have. You never gave up even when I did. You did as much as you could possibly do. You don't have to come with us tonight." Derek said and I sucked in a breath.
"Derek, they were calling out for someone, someone who could help them. But they got me. They reached someone who couldn't help them Derek. And now Erica is dead, okay? I have to be there to get Boyd and who ever else is stuck in there with them. Now, let's go. We're wasting time." I said, I didn't even realize I'd done it until after I'd walked out the door. I'd kissed Derek . Just a peck. But still a kiss.
When we got to the bank pretty much everything went as planned, at first. Then in a matter of minutes, our plan crashed down on us. I had this feeling that I could only remember experiencing in that God forsaken basement.
"What?" Derek asked Scott who had stopped walking as fast as the 2 of us. We were in an alley behind the bank.
"There's just something I can't get out of my head." Scott said and I turned back to look at him.
"The moon's rising, Scott. What is it?" I asked. Derek had slowed to a stop as well.
"Risk and reward." Scott said and I just looked at him in pure confusion.
"Which means what?" Derek asked.
"We're not measuring the risk with enough information. We don't know enough." Scott said and I had almost forgotten how smart Scott really was.
"We know time's running out." Derek said, we had started walking again.
"Yeah, but think about it. They put the triskele on your door four months ago. What have they been doing all this time? Why wait until now?" Scott asked and I kept going over it in my head. Over and over again.
"We don't have the time to figure out every little detail." Derek said.
"Okay, but what if this detail, the reason why they waited... what if it's the most important one?" Scott asked.
"Then we do nothing. And Boyd and Erica are dead. I know what I'm risking. My life for theirs. And I won't blame you if you don't follow me." Derek said as he jumped up to the ladder thingy that was hanging from the wall. Scott and I followed of course. I went first, Scott making sure I could get up which I did on the first try. We waited for the breaking of the wall to follow.
"Boyd? Boyd? It's me. It's Derek." Derek said to the wolf walking towards us. . Then my phone went off and I had to walk away a little bit.
"Stiles, now is not the best time." I whispered into the phone. Boyd's head jerked towards me.
"Alex! Alex! No, listen to me, okay? Look, you gotta get outta there. Look, the walls of the vault are made with a mineral called hecatolite. It scatters the moonlight." Stiles said and my heart almost stopped. The vault. The basement. Oh god. I ran over to Scott handing him the phone.
"What does that mean?" I heard Scott ask into the phone. It seemed as though my body had become lead. Unable to move for the life of me.
"We're here to get you out, okay?" I heard Derek say and Boyd just growled.
"Scott, it keeps the moonlight out, okay? They haven't felt the full moon in months." I said going back to the basement.
Okay, think of it like the gladiators in the Roman colosseum. They used to starve the lions for three days, making them more vicious, more out of control. Deucalion has kept them from shifting for three full moons, diminishing their tolerance to it. I heard Peter say from the speaker. My mind was going insane and I could feel myself getting stronger by the second.
Scott, they're gonna be stronger... Stiles said. Neither Scott nor I could speak.
More savage, more bloodthirsty, Scott, they're the lions. They're the starved lions, and you and Derek and Alex just stepped into the colosseum. Peter said and suddenly I could move again.
"Derek, we got a problem, a really big problem." I said as I approached him.
"Cora?" Derek asked confusing me instantly.
"Who?" I asked.
"Cora?" He said again, I pieced together that the other one in here was named Cora.
"Derek, get out. Get out now!" The girl said to Derek. With every second that went by the anger grew larger and stronger by the second. I was watching Boyd and Cora in fear.
"No. No! Wait!" I heard Scott yell and turned around to see who who I believe was the high school guidance counselor finish a line of mountain ash.
The fight broke out in a matter of seconds. And was too busy trying not to die to really pay attention to the others. Then Cora charged Derek. After he announced that she was his younger sister who he thought was dead. Scott was attacked by Boyd after Allison yelled Look Out. I didn't even know she was here. Boyd stuck his claws in Scotts chest.
"STOP" I screamed and Boyd was thrown back by something other than Scott. I had found a way to protect my pack, that force field like thing. Cora was away from Derek too. Both Derek and Scott stared at their attackers and then at me. Boyd and Cora's heads snapped toward me just at a metalic taste crossed my lips going down my chin. Blood. I was beginning to feel weaker and weaker the longer I protected them. Then Boyd and Cora went after me. In a matter of seconds I was out cold on the floor, I could still feel the slash marks down my stomach and back. I could also hear them talking and growling. Although distant.
"No! Don't break the seal!" I heard Derek yell.
"Boyd" Allison yelled and then there were no more claws digging into me. But I wasn't healing and I still felt weak.
"Don't touch her!" Scott yelled.
"What were you thinking?" Derek shouted at Allison while I silently thanked her.
"That I had to do something." Allison said.
"She saved our lives." Scott said. "She saved Alex's life." He added.
"Yeah, and what do you think they're gonna do out there? Do you have any idea what we just set free?" Derek asked. I was able to open my eyes but didn't want to. It hurt. Everything hurt as I laid in my blood sure I was dying.
"You want to blame me? Well, I am not the one turning teenagers into killers." Allison snapped back. I needed to do something I needed help.
"No. No, that's just the rest of your family." Derek said.
"I made mistakes. Gerard is not my fault." Allison said there was regret in her voice.
"And what about your mother?" Derek asked. And suddenly the pain got worse and I screamed out.
"What do you mean?" Allison asked. And I screamed out again. It hurt so much.
"Tell her, Scott." Derek said and then I heard footsteps coming towards me. Derek picked me up gently but I screamed out any way. I ended up passing out. When I woke up I was in Derek's bed with bandages all over and an IV in my arm. I sat up to look around and screamed out again.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't move. It's okay. You're at my house. You're injured pretty badly but Deaton is giving you something to quicken up the healing process." Derek said. Confusion bursted throughout my mind.
"Why aren't I healing?" I asked in a hushed whisper.
"You're too weak to heal on your own. The protection shield took everything you had. Try to rest okay?" Derek explained.
"Cora and Boyd?" I asked my eyes closing.
"Scott and Peter are searching. Isaac too. Now get some sleep. When you wake the wounds will be almost healed." Derek said and I nodded closing my eyes. Derek got up to leave.
"Stay...please...hold me at least until I fall asleep." I whispered and Derek didn't even resist at all. I think it's even what he wanted as he laid down on the side with out the IV. Placing on arm around me he pulled me into him and thats how I fell asleep listening to the rhythm of of his heart. That's also how I I woke up the next morning. In the arms of Derek Hale.

Tattoo
So this summer has gone without incident. Jackson ended up moving to England. And Derek is still a werewolf, obviously. Scott is my alpha. Lydia is just the broken shell of the girl she used to be. Allison is nothing but a reminder that people have bad days, and I still love her. Peter is back, and it scares the hell out of me because he ruined everything. He is nothing but pure evil. We have gone at it several times. I've kicked his ass, letting the darkness take over, but Derek restrained me from killing him, and he has kicked my ass a few times. And Stiles is still, well Stiles. We are closer now than we were after the break up. Him and Scott are still my best friends. Isaac is part of the pack now.. Our pack, and we're missing people. Erica and Boyd are gone, taken most likely by this new pack of alphas.. And Derek...Well, there is something wrong with me. Because I think..........I think I like him.
Its weird because I can't see why, but ever since I took the bite it's like, Derek Hale is the only other thing I can think about, the first being how we're going to escape death this time. It's like we're stuck in some shitty T.V. show. If only. But I am currently sitting in a tattoo shop with Scott and Stiles. Scott and I are both getting tattoos today, I asked mom and Bree for permission of course and we had to pay ourselves. I am getting a semi colon on my wrist. With the sentence "I'm still here." Underneath it. It's a symbol for survival. A semi colon is used when an author could have ended a sentence; but choose not too. I saw it on Tumblr...I had to have a signed piece of Paper because I was still only 16 I was getting mine done first because Scott was still undecided.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Stiles asked for like the tenth time since we'd gotten there. I simply nodded, and sat down in the chair.
"Alright, so take this, it'll help with the pain." The tattooist said as he handed me 2 small pills and a cup of water. I looked at him before he said it was just Tylenol and I took the pills. "So, a semi colon where?" He asked and I didn't even have to think about it as I pulled up my sleeve just above my wrist and pointed to it. He nodded and asked what color, I asked for the semi colon to be black with a galaxy like back drop. He said it would take 30 minutes to an hour. I decided to focus on the conversation that Scott and Stiles were having while the tattoo was getting done. It hurt like a bitch, but not as bad as I expected. I watched as Scott handed the tattooist a piece of paper. With 2 lines on it, the top line was thicker than the bottom. Stiles wasn't looking at me while the tattoo got done, like at all.
"Boy, it's a good thing you drew me a picture." He said with sarcasm. He set the paper down and continued the tattoo on my wrist. It wasn't 30 minutes later that I could distract myself with Scott and Stiles' conversation. The tattoo was almost done, he was working on the last half of the backdrop.
"Hey, Scott, sure you don't want something like this?" Stiles asked holding up the idea book, I looked over to see a kanima like creature. I glared at him so did Scott. "Too soon? Yeah. I don't know, man, are you sure about this? I mean, these things are pretty permanent, you know?" Stiles said and I looked down to see that there was barely anything left of the tattoo that needed to be finished.
"I'm not changing my mind." Scott said and I looked down to see the tattoo finished. I smiled at how amazing it really looked and got up letting Scott take my place.
"Neither am I." I said showing off my new tattoo. Before bandaging it as instructed.
"Okay, but why two bands?" Stiles asked ignoring me and I looked at Scott. I had been wondering the same thing I just didn't say anything.
"I just like it." Scott said and I scoffed. This boy. This is the one that defeated a monster alpha and a kanima and out smarted a freaking thousand year old were wolf hunter ad he's getting 2 unsymmetrical lines tattooed on his arm because he likes them.
"But don't you think your first tattoo should have some sort of meaning, you know, or something?" Stiles asked and I looked at him for a second before speaking.
"Getting a tattoo means something." I said.
"I don't think that's..." Stiles began but the tattooist cut him off.
"He's right, tattooing goes back thousands of years. The tahitian word "tatua" means "to leave a mark." Like a rite of passage." He said and I looked at Scott then I took the piece of paper and held it to his arm. It wasn't original but nor was it cliche.
"Yeah, you see? He gets it." Scott said and I scoffed again. Rolling my eyes I let Stiles speak.
"He's covered in tattoos, Scott, literally." He said and he was. His arms were at least. And there may have been a few on his neck
"Okay, you ready? You ain't got any problems with needles, do you?" The man said as he readied the ink.
"Nope." Said Scott and I looked to Stiles who almost fainted when I was getting mine done. The tattoo underneath the bandage was itching a little bit but I let it slide.
"I tend to get a little squeamish though, so..." Stiles didn't even finish the sentence before he fell. I let out a sigh and stuck my hand on his forehead. That's something else I realized. My abilities as a guardian are starting to come back. I can heal people again although not by much. My abilities are weak, but they are getting stronger. I can go into the past just as easily as I could that night I went back to my house. Memories are easier to understand and the feeling that has accompanied death is back. But as far as I know, nobody has died. There was one night where I couldn't sleep, at all. I heard a familiar scream and another familiar cry but it was too hard to pull the voices apart and even harder to put faces to their voices. But someone I knew was dead. Someone I didn't really care for before. Someone who meant something to me, maybe not like how Scott means something to me. But still. I will occasionally hear her screams and his crying and apologizing it makes me feel sick and useless.
After Scott got his finished we all walked out to the car. Yes, the jeep was still up and running. My wrist was starting to burn. Like bad.
"Oh, man." Scott and I said at the same time. I could sense that something wasn't right.
"You okay?" Stiles asked before starting the car.
"Kinda burns." Scott said.
"Kinda really burns." I added.
"Yes, you just had your skin stabbed about 100,000 times with a needle." Stiles retorted. It wasn't that. Getting the tattoo didn't hurt this bad.
"Yeah, but I don't think it's supposed to feel like this." I said.
"Oh, God." Stiles said.
"No, it's definitely not supposed to feel like this. Oh, I gotta take this thing off." Scott said and I agreed as I pulled the bandage off. What I saw pissed me off and confused me.
"No, no, no, no, Scott. Oh, Scott, please stop. Whoa, whoa." Stiles said and I looked up to see the rest of Scott's tattoo vanish.
"Oh, no, what? No, no, come on. It healed." Scott said and I held up my wrist.
"They healed." I said.
"Ah, thank God. I hated it. Sorry. " Stiles said and I smacked him playfully on the back of the head.
We were driving down to the Beacon Hills preserves. I didn't even know why. I think we just needed to go on a drive. We were still in town though. Stopped at a red light.
"Nah, we agreed to give each other the summer... no texts, no calls." Scott said and I felt my heart hurt. Yeah Allison has tried to kill me twice now but honestly, it's not really her fault that people can so easily get into her head. Does that mean I still trust her? No. After the first time I forgave and trusted her, but twice? No. I will always be on guard when it comes to Allison Argent. But I still love her. She's still my..friend. but now I just have to be more alert with her.
"So then how do you know she won't be back at school then?" Stiles asked and I kept my attention outside the window.
"After everything that happened, I'm not sure she's coming back at all." Scott said. Holy shit. Oh fuck. That is just...weird.
"I think she is. I'd say pretty definite, you know. Like one hundred percent." I said as I looked out the window at the hunter and the red head in the car next to us.
"Oh, my God. Oh..." Scott said as he ducked down and rolled up the window. There was something different with Lydia. She just...looked different. The light was still red so we couldn't drive away yet.
"I think we should talk to her, I just think we should say something." Stiles said as he reached over Scott and rolled the window down again. I Couldn't even say anything. I just...this boy is delirious.
"No. No, no, Stiles, come on. Oh, my God, dude, no." Scott muttered then Stiles stuck his hand out the window.
"Hey! You know, they probably didn't see us." He said after they sped off. I just face palmed. We continued driving...and I realized after a few seconds that we were behind them..
"What are you doing?" Scott asked. I could tell that he was panicking.
"I'm driving." Stiles retorted.
"We're right behind them." Scott said, I remained silent.
"Okay, well, do you see any turns?" Stiles asked and I looked out the window realizing that the road we were on was straight, and didn't turn off anywhere. Great.
"I don't want it to look like we're following them." Scott said.
"Well, what do you want me to do?" Stiles asked. I heard Scott sigh.
"I don't know, anything." He stuttered. Stiles slammed on the brakes sending me forward, reflexes kicked in and I slammed my hands into either seat to keep me from colliding with the windshield.
"What the hell?" I asked as I sat back. Stiles and Scott both shrugged and were looking at me when I saw the car in front of us come to a sudden stop after there was a loud crash that sounded like glass breaking. We all instantly got out of the car as they did the same. Scott and Stiles ran up to them first. I had trouble getting out of the back seat. When I got to them, both Allison and Lydia were freaking out and I could see why, there was a a buck in the windshield.
"Are you okay?" Stiles asked Lydia. He had gone to Lydia and Scott to Allison. It was poetic the ex lovers and the boy who was in love with the girl who didn't know. Actually I'm sure she did. How couldn't she everyone around us knows that Stiles Stilinski is madly in love with the red headed Lydia martin.
"It came out of nowhere." Lydia said, there were tears in her eyes.
"Are you hurt?" Stiles asked, like I said. It was poetic.
"It ran right into us." Lydia said ignoring the question.
"Are you okay?" I heard Scott ask Allison. It was so obvious that they still cared for each other. The way she looks at him when he looks away, the look he gives her as he skims every inch of her body then looks away when she looks over.
"I'm okay." She said. Allison was a strong person. Probably stronger than I will ever be. But she has her weaknesses, like the rest of us. Animals apparently aren't on that list.
"Well, I'm not okay. I am totally freaking out. How the hell does it just run into us? I saw its eyes right before it hit us.n It was like it... it was like it was crazy." Lydia said and I walked over to the animal. It was still alive and when I set my hand on it's neck, pain radiated up my arm along with the dark purple veins that accompany. I could feel it's fear that swam through my veins along with the pain.
"No, it was scared." I said as I guided it into a somewhat painless death. "Actually... Terrified." I said before taking my hand off of the corpse. We all piled into the extremely small car, Lydia and Allison in the back and me? Yeah I had to sit next to Scott, squished between him and the door. It was extremely uncomfortable. After dropping Lydia and Allison off I climbed in the back and Stiles dropped Scott and I off at the house.
My birthday is in a few months and I think they're planning something. I don't know what it is, and neither does Stiles because if he did I would have already gotten it out of him. Lydia and Allison know. They won't say anything. Derek knows. Scott knows. Mom knows as well but still nothing. Scott and I stayed up talking for about 30 minutes before I went to bed. School starts tomorrow.
"So, do you think Derek would know how to get the tattoo's done?" I asked Scott as we sat on the bed. It was a great subject changer. He had been asking me if I still had feelings for Stiles. Of course I did but will I admit it out loud probably not. I think I will always love him, more than I should. But Stiles and I..It wouldn't work out. We already jeopardized our friendship when I fell in love with him. If we were something again and we ended it, what if it ended everything. I can't afford to loose him.
"Yeah, I mean he has a tattoo, so obviously he would know how to help." Scott said. He was about to say something else and I knew it was about Stiles. I gave him a pleading look and he shut his mouth.
"Do you think it's like a special kind of dye? Or like..maybe it's mountain ash. Wait, no that wouldn't work..." I said and felt stupid as Scott started laughing at me. I hit him with a pillow and he acted like it hurt. I burst out laughing at the look on his face as he held the left side of his body. We said our goodnights and went to bed. I stayed up thinking for another thirty minutes. I remember the last thought that drifted through my mind before going to sleep... When is Derek going to tell Scott about the Alpha pack.
**FLASHBACK**
"Alex, trust me, you don't want to tell him yet. He's smart, he can figure it out, eventually. But for now. Let him enjoy the summer while it lasts. Because I have a feeling that this year is going to be much, much worse." Derek said as I stormed out of the house. I felt him grab my wrists and keep me in place.
"Derek! He deserves to know what's coming. He needs to prepare. He needs to be ready. We need to be ready. We have to tell him." I said as I spun around. Derek looked at me with pleading eyes.
"Alex, don't tell him. He deserves to have a break from all of this, doesn't he?" Derek asked, I guess he was right. I let out a heavy sigh. Every time I'm ready to tell Scott, Derek talks me out of it. I'm not as stubborn as I used to be. Everything he is saying makes sense, but at the same time, Scott needs to know. I feel like I should tell him, but Derek keeps asking me not to, and I can't. I followed Derek back inside, I was making cookies before we had our disagreement.
I walked back over to the oven, Scott and Stiles were gone as well as mom. So we had the house to ourselves. Not like that! You pervs!! I'm still a virgin thank you very much! Anyways, I put the flower in the bottom of the pan, like always. Then Derek walked up behind me, I think he was going to scare me but with my super hearing I heard his heart beat. I had a small handful of flower in my right hand as soon as Derek's hands wrapped around my waist I spun around and threw it into his face. He let out of a puff and stuck his hand in the bag of flower, I dodged him easily, but got powder on the top of my head as I hadn't moved fast enough.
I ran back and smacked him playfully in the arm. He rolled his eyes and I went for the flower. He caught me off guard when he pulled my body into his. The eye contact itself was intense. He stared at me with confusion in his eyes. I watched as they went down to my lips and my body froze in spot. My feet glued to the ground I couldn't help but look up at him. That's when I noticed something. Of all times, all moments in my life. Why did that psychology chapter have to come to mind.. Does the big bad Derek Hale like me? His hand placement, and eyes are giving me all the signs, maybe I'm just being dumb. He couldn't like me right? Why would he? But psychology fact, if a person places their hands on your waist when hugging you, they have feelings. His eyes lingered to my lips for a fraction of a second, but I probably have flower on my face. He was staring at the powder.. Then I swear to god he leaned in.
"What the hell is this!?" I heard Melissa yell. I couldn't pull myself from the trance like state I was in. Was he about to kiss me? "Alex!" Mom yelled. I snapped out of it and pulled away from him.
"We were just...making cookies." I said. She glanced at me then Derek then to the stove where the cookies were laying in the pan. Shit, I forgot to put them in.
"Alex, there is flower all over the both of you, on the floor. And Derek Hale is 8 years older than you. Yeah, he might be part of this whole supernatural circle you and Scott found your way into but that does not mean that you can, by any means, date or do anything, with someone who is almost 9 years older than yourself." She said in her best mom voice. "Clean up this kitchen and Derek go home." She said before shaking her head and going up stairs to shower. Derek didn't say anything to me as he left. Derek Hale was going to kiss me.
**END FLASHBACK**
The next day Stiles picked Scott and I up for school. I decided to dress somewhat cute, unlike the homeless slob I've been lately. I wore a black dress that had a purple lace pattern on the bottom. I added bright pink leggings to the outfit and a wide head band. I put on my black combat boots and a light hoodie and got in the jeep. It was a pretty common first day, filled with finding new classes and working out the combination on your new locker. Basic high school shit. The old principal had come back to Beacon Hills after Gerard "left with out any warning".
"You wanna ask Derek for help? Why?" Stiles asked looking at Scott who had just finished telling Stiles about our idea. Then he turned to me. "Why?" He asked me. I gave a heavily exaggerated sigh
"He's got the triskele tattooed on his back. So there has to be a way to do it without healing, right?" I said as we continued walking.
"Okay, yeah, but still, doesn't he have his hands a little full?" Stiles asked and we all came to a stop when we saw the Principal standing outside his office talking to some school official.
"Look, these are the applications for the career advisor. I need them sorted. And whatever happened to the library while I was gone, I want it cleared up." He said and then we walked into the room and came back with Gerard's freaking sword in hand. Why the hell would he keep it in the office of a high school? "And what the hell is this?" He asked and I looked at the boys and we all turned around. I had a smirk on my face.
"Go, go, go." Stiles said and we all began speed walking in the other direction. We all had English together which wasn't very surprising. When we got into the class the weary feeling I'd had before began to get worse, then my phone buzzed with a text. I opened it and was completely and utterly confused when every other phone in the room began buzzing.
"The offing was barred by a black bank of clouds and the tranquil waterway, leading to the uttermost ends of the earth flowed somber under an overcast sky, seemed to lead into the heart of an immense darkness." This is the last line to the first book we are going to read. It is also the last text you will receive in this class. Phones off, everyone." Said the women who had just walked into class. Our new English teacher I suppose. Everyone did as told, then someone walked in and talked to her and she called Scott out into the hallway. Our teacher hadn't even introduced herself yet and Scott was already leaving. I was wondering if I should go with him but knew I couldn't with out mom asking.
Mr. McCall? Uh, I'm sure it's an emergency if your mother needs you to leave school, but I'm gonna give you a warning in the nicest possible way. I am well aware of your attendance record. I don't wanna see you slip back into old habits. She said and I thought back to last year. We missed at least 48 classes due to the supernatural word that we got sucked into. And I know it's not good to listen in to their conversation, but how could I not? Literally, how do I drown that shit out?
I won't. It's gonna be different this year. Scott said.
Resolutions are only good if you stick with them, Scott. Our teacher said, I read the name plate on her desk. Jennifer Blake.
I will. I promise it won't be ephemeral. He said. I shrugged and looked over to Stiles. He was starring at the bandage on Lydia's ankle intently.
"Hey, Lydia. What is that? Is that from the accident?" He asked.
"No. Prada bit me." She said and looked over to me I was sitting in the desk on Stiles' left.
"Your dog?" Stiles asked and I sighed at the in-explicitly stupid question.
"No, my designer handbag. Yes, my dog." Lydia sassed, it were times like these that I remembered Stiles wasn't the only one who knew how to use sarcasm.
"Has it ever bitten you before?" I pitched in. Lydia shook her head.
"Mm-mm." She added. I looked at Stiles and he got that look that he gets when he is thinking.
"Okay. What if it's, like, the same thing as the deer? You know, like, how animals start acting weird right before an earthquake or something?" He asked both Lydia and I.
"Meaning what? There's gonna be an earthquake?" I asked.
"Or something. I just... maybe it means something's coming. Something bad." Stiles said and I was glad that neither of them had super hearing, or they would have heard my heart rate speed up. Could a pack of alpha werewolves cause animals to stress out and act weird?
"It was a deer and a dog. What's that thing you say about threes? Once, twice..." Lydia said and I looked over at her but my attention was grabbed by something else. Something weirder..and then it hit the window with enough force to kill it on impact. Everyone jumped and looked over. I think they were to busy starring at the blood on the window to notice the thousands of birds flying towards us. Ms. Blake walked over to the window and everyone noticed them. She turned around to look at us and one flew into the window with enough momentum to crack it. More and more flew in and everyone panicked.
"Get down, everyone! Get down, down. Get down! Get down!" Blake yelled and people began dropping, pulling desks down to cover themselves. I saw Stiles throw himself over Lydia and was hit in the cheek by one of them. It cut me open pretty badly. I dropped to the ground, covering my face so that no one would see the wound heal. There were birds attacking everyone and 2 students had hidden with Ms. Blake.
I crawled over to Allison who had a pretty nasty cut on her hand and then, the birds were just..dead. I healed her hand, my jacket covering the purple veins I knew oh so well. I healed Stiles and Lydia. Everyone was so beyond shaken up and I was too. We all just stood there in silence for a few minutes. It all happened so fast. Then I got this...feeling in my chest. I decided to ignore it at first but then it felt like I had been thrown into a wall or something.
"Stiles.." I mumbled as I picked myself up. Stiles and Lydia and even Allison came over to me with quizzical expressions. "Stiles, I have to go to the hospital." I said and realized it wasn't the right wording as they all began to panic.
"What? Why? What happened?" Stiles asked and before I could say anything my body was flooded with pain again.
"Scott." I said before walking to the door. Stiles ran after me and grabbed my arm before I could walk away. I turned around with my eyes their golden color. He let go and I ran. I sprinted the entire way to the hospital and followed Scott's scent to the 3rd floor.
"So am I." I heard Derek say and walked around the corner to see some bald man laying on the floor.
"Aren't you both supposed to be in school?" Derek asked and Scott finally realized I was there. I simply shook my head at Derek, wondering what I was supposed to do in a situation like this. Controlling it was still very hard. Derek had been training with me all summer but it was still very difficult not to rip someones throat out when I was shifted. The anger I felt so beyond scary, like if I even so much as let my guard down for half a second I was trying to kill someone. That someone usually being Derek, once or twice him and Peter had to call Scott for back up. Yeah, it's that bad. Then the man laying on the ground got up and left I was about to go after him when Derek was behind me holding me back. He held me like that, wrapped against his chest, until I was human again. It didn't take very long at all, just the smell of Derek and the way he breathed calmed me down. Just like when Stiles used too..Wait what?
We took Isaac, who had apparently been in some kind of accident to Derek's house. I filled them in on the birds at the school after Scott got a call from Stiles who was freaking out about if we were okay because after what happened at the school I freaked out and left. Scott nor Derek could explain the birds and it was a no go for me either. Scott had told Stiles to meet us at Derek's he obviously wasn't very happy about that. Ever since Derek bit me, Stiles has hated him even more than before.
"You don't still live here, do you?" Scott asked.
"No. The county took it over, but there's something here that I need. It'll help heal a wound from an Alpha." Derek said I was sitting next to Isaac looking at his bare skin where the hospital gown failed cover him. I set my hand on his skin and yanked it away seconds later.
"Yeah, but it did heal." Scott said and I shook my head, pressing my hand down once again.
"Not on the inside." I said and Derek looked over at me but I closed my eyes as the purple veins made their way up my arm. It was almost at my elbow when I began to feel weak. I heard Isaac's heart rate steady out a little bit and he stirred under my touch. I didn't realize how far I'd let the pain go until Derek was pulling me off of him. I felt weak as hell.
"What the hell are you trying to do? Kill yourself?" Derek asked as he helped me stand up. I shook my head and gave him dirty look.
"Hey, are you gonna tell me who that was back there? That Alpha." Scott asked and I was thankful that I had just taken some of Isaac's pain or else my speeding heart would be questionable, now wouldn't it? I was hoping that Derek was going to tell Scott the truth right then but he didn't.
" A rival pack. It's my problem. I know you wanna help, and you did. I owe you one. Now go home. Go back to being a teenager." Derek huffed.
"Uh, hey, Derek. If you wanna repay back that favor now... There is something you can do for me." Scott said and I gave him a confused look. Then it clicked, the tattoos.
"Yeah, I see it. It's a semi colon, right? What does it mean?" Derek asked and I looked at my feet.
"It's a symbol of survival; it means that through all this bullshit I lived.." I said. I had decided I wanted to get mine done first, then Scott.
"Why is this so important to you? Do you know what the word "tattoo" means?" Derek asked and I wondered what the tattoo on his back meant.
"To mark something." I said and then I looked at Scott hoping it would take the attention off of myself. "Scott, literally got only 2 bands on his arm, why don't you criticize him." I said.
"Well, that's in tahitian. In samoan, it means "open wound."I knew I wanted to get a tattoo when I turned 18. I always wanted one. I just decided to get it now, to make it kind of a reward." Scott said and I thought about it for a second.
"For what?" I asked and Scott's heart rate sped up.
"For not calling or texting Allison all summer. Even when I really wanted to, even when it was so hard not to sometimes. I was trying to give her the space she wants. Goin' four months later, it still hurts. It still feels like a, uh..." Scott said and Stiles finished it for him. He had drawn to circles in the dirt, one was thicker the one inside was smaller.
"like an open wound." Stiles said.
"Yeah." Scott said and then Derek looked at me.
"The pain's gonna be worse than anything you've ever felt." He said as he lit up a torch next to me and took my wrist in his hand.
"Ah, that's great." Retorted Stiles. I braced myself for the pain. I mean, it couldn't be worse than regenerating right?
"Do it." I mumbled and Derek brought the flame to my wrist. I bit my tongue in order not to scream.
"Oh, wow. That's a... that's a lot for me. So I'm gonna take that as my cue. I'm just gonna wait outside." Said Stiles and I let it out. I screamed. The feeling of a flame being pressed to my skin was much worse than regenerating, it was like it was trying to heal itself but couldn't.
"Nope. You can help hold her down." Derek said and I realized that I had been twitching my body and jerking my wrist. I felt Scott press down on my arm.
"Oh, my God." Stiles said and I screamed again.
"Hold her." Derek insisted. Stiles went to my other side and held the rest of my body down and I screamed again. It seemed to go on forever. I was probably not going to get another tattoo, like ever. Then the flame was taken away and I could see it. The semi colon and galaxy back drop. It looked amazing.
"It worked." I said and I looked over to Scott patting him on the shoulder. Then I stood up and he sat down. He looked at Derek and Derek got the flame ready. I was able to take some of Scott's pain while holding him down so it wasn't as bad for him.
"Well, it looks pretty damn permanent now." Stiles said after we let go of Scott. I nodded as I stared at the 2 lines.
"Yeah. I kind of needed something permanent. Everything that's happened to us... everything just changes so fast. Everything's so, uh... Ephemeral." Scott said, there was that word again. I know that he's been studying all summer and so have I but he's taken it to the extent.
"Studying for the psats?" Stiles asked and I just laughed. Those damn tests that the school makes us do, piss me off. We had all started walking to the front door when I got this feeling, like something bad was about to happen. Not like blood and gore bad, but "Why did you keep this from me Derek?" or "This is why we don't trust you, Derek." Type of bad.
"Yep." Scott said and looked at me. I was biting my nails and he gave me this confused look.
"Nice." Stiles cheered. Then Scott noticed.
"You painted the door. Why'd you paint the door?" He asked, if this went the way I was thinking it would, I was never going to hear the end of it.
"Go home, Scott." Derek said, but Scott was a stubborn kid, always has been.
"And why only one side?" Scott asked and my heart rate increased when he looked at me.
"Scott." I said as he began scratching the paint from the door until it was showing. The weird symbol. The symbol of an Alpha pack. If anyone ever told you that Scott McCall is not a smart kid, they lied. He is one of the smartest people I know.
"The birds at school and the deer last night... just like the night I got trampled by the deer when I got bit by the Alpha. How many are there?" Scott asked as he put it together. Like I said, a very smart kid.
"A pack of 'em. An Alpha pack." Derek said and I looked to the ground, my feet had become very interesting in the last 5 seconds.
"All of them? How does that even work?" Stiles asked and I looked up to Derek, I had been asking him the same thing all summer but never got a real response. Just that it was bad news that they were in town.
"I hear there's some kind of a leader. He's called Deucalion. We know they have Boyd and Erica." Derek said and it was like, him saying their names for the first time in the last month made me feel sick. He stopped saying their names 2 months after we declared them missing.
"Derek, Peter, Isaac, and I have been looking for him for the last four months. As well as Erica and Boyd." I said and the amount of betrayal in Scott and Stiles' eyes made my throat go dry. Stiles looked away from me.
"Let's say you find them. How do you deal with an Alpha pack?" Scott asked, not even looking me in the eye. With him, I could literally feel the betrayal as if it were my own, just like before I could feel his anger and sadness and joy.
"With all the help I can get." Derek said. Scott nodded and him and Stiles left. Leaving me behind, dreading the explanation as to why I didn't tell them. I decided to run out side before they could leave, and I hopped in the jeep and regretted it after the painfully stale silence that was the first 5 minutes, but the conversation hurt a little bit more.
"Okay, to break this silence I am going to say that I wanted to tell you guys. It literally was the hardest thing I have ever done by not telling. But every time I thought I was ready to tell you, that you were ready to know, the words wouldn't seem to form and when I thought it out, my throat tightened up and I just couldn't." I said and it wasn't the best excuse because I am usually a very blunt person but I couldn't ruin summer for them.
"You couldn't just come to us and say something like "Hey guys, how was your day? Oh by the way, we need to get you ready to face the freaking alpha pack that's moved into our town and has also kidnapped and probably killed Erica and Boyd." Stiles retorted. I sighed knowing it wasn't the worst thing he could have said.
"No, it's okay. Alex did what she thought would protect us, all we have to do now is prepare for the upcoming war." Scott said and I thanked him silently for understanding.
"Do you guys really think that...that they're dead?" I asked and they both went quiet for a few minutes.
"When we find them, and we will, maybe we will get there in time to save them." Scott said and I looked at him in the passenger seat and thanked him for the boost of confidence. Scott is a leader, that's why he isn't an omega, or a beta because he is, in his own way an alpha. My alpha.
So, the semicolon tattoo in this chapter is an actual tattoo I've designed and plan on getting soon hopefully. ♡♡
