I learned in the webinar that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) refers to the process of optimizing the website to improve its exposure for related searches. Search engines make an effort to return the most important answers to a searcher's question. The higher the exposure of the pages in search results, the more likely to gain attention and attract new and current customers to your business. Search engine optimization is mostly concerned with rising the website's popularity in major search engines organic search results and it provides the most relevant results to a searcher’s query. To achieve exposure online, advertisers must first consider three key components such as (a) to know your consumers and what kind of content they want or need, (b) The operation of search engines, and (c) to know how to market and customize your website properly.

Since people perform trillions of searches each year, often with the commercial intention to find information about goods and services, SEO is a critical component of digital marketing and it must be established first before conduct a marketing strategy. Search is the most important source of digital traffic for brands, supplementing other marketing platforms. The greater the exposure and getting a higher ranking in search results will have a significant impact on your business. I learned that the first step in search engine optimization is to figure out what you're optimizing for. This entails defining search terms, also known as "keywords," that you want your website to rank within search engines like Google, and it is useful for us because we can easily direct to the products or brands that we are looking for.

Google seeks sites that provide high-quality, accurate content relevant to the searcher's demand. High-quality content has become critically relevant in recent years for website ranking and online marketing. Furthermore, Google's algorithm decides relevance by crawling or reading the website's material and determining if it applies to the searcher's query depending on the keywords it includes and other variables known as "ranking signals". Google measures contents quality in many ways, but one of the most important is the site's link profile and the number of other websites that link to a page and the site as a whole. Providing relevant content for customers in the form of text, images, or videos benefits not only Google SEO but also many other aspects of online marketing.

Bots are used by search engines like Google to crawl websites, moving from site to site, gathering information on those pages, and indexing them. Following that, algorithms evaluate pages in the index, taking hundreds of ranking factors or signals into account, to assess the order in which pages should appear in search results for a given query. Building a strong site interface and having easy navigation can help search engines rapidly and conveniently index the site. I also learned that on-page SEO refers to factors that you can monitor on your website. While, off-page SEO refers to page ranking factors that exist outside of your website, such as backlinks from another domain.

Moreover, what catches me the most is the different terms that the speaker used in her talk because I haven’t heard emerging trends and bad SEO tactics before. In the webinar, I found out that the black hat style of SEO focuses solely on optimizing the content for search engines and this technique produces spammy, lousy sites that are often banned very quickly. It would frequently result in extreme punishment for the marketer, destroying their potential chances of building something profitable. The white hat is the best way to create a long-term online business. If you do SEO in this manner, you will focus on your human audience and you aim to provide them with the best content available.

The gray hat SEO is not as perfect or innocent as the purest of white hats. However, it is not as blatantly deceptive as a black hat might be. This technique is attempting to gain a distinct advantage by linking your website to other pages using dummy accounts. The Pink hat focused mainly on the dating site, which different brands offer products like condoms, sex toys, and the likes. On the other hand, in keeping the tools handy, it is essential to not upload drafts, keep an eye on the details, and make sure that the images match the text, those images must be on the color pallet of your brand. To ensure the content and structure, it is important to assess your website regularly to avoid spam and unsolicited links.

The method of promoting a company by paying ads that appear on search engine results pages or SERPs is known as Search Engine Marketing (SEM). It is the most effective way to promote your products and expand your business. I am shocked to know that the advertisers bid on keywords, it gives the advertiser the ability for their advertisements to appear on the top of the results for those search queries. The greatest strength of search engine marketing is that it allows advertisers to position their advertisements in front of motivated consumers who are willing to shop at the same moment they are ready to buy. No other advertisement tool can do this, which is why search engine marketing is such an efficient and profitable way to expand your business.

In general, Search Engine Marketing refers to paid search marketing, which is a system in which businesses pay Google to have their advertisements appear in search results. While, Search Engine Optimization is different because businesses do not pay Google for traffic and clicks; rather, they win a free spot in the search results by providing the most relevant content for a given keyword search. SEO and SEM can also be essential parts of the online marketing campaign. Digital marketing is very useful because publishers use digital platforms to present their media in the most user-friendly and engaging way possible. Advertising is much simpler for digital publications because they will only use the internet to make their sales pitch even better and they will be more likely to buy ad space if they know who can see their ad. @bertongbigtime

Responsible Digital Journalism

Reporters are responsible for delivering updates and analysis on the current happening in their community, country, and the world at large. Reporters at the scene must gather information and report these incidents because it is their responsibility and obligation to society. However, it can be extremely challenging for them especially when the incident is on the spot and the journalist or reporter is present near the place where the event takes place. Also, reporters and journalists are responsible for reporting especially in using Facebook as a medium because it can reach wide audiences, so he has a great responsibility on how will going to report the story he covers and how it will influence others.

I remember when Journalist Jacque Manabat talked about Mobile Journalism, she stated that reporting on major incidents can place journalist’s life in dangerous circumstances, but reporters should not do things which might endanger themselves or the people around them because their safety must also be a priory over any other things. As I notice, Reporter Garry De Leon tries to capture the story and get closer to the place where the incident takes place to show it to the public. Eventually, De Leon follows the protocol given by the authorities, when men in uniform say that they must move to another place because it is dangerous in that area, he follows it immediately. If I were in that situation, I will also do the same thing that he does to present to the people an accurate, well-balanced explanation of the stories that I cover.

Mobile Journalism is the new way of media to present news via storytelling, that is what Reporter Garry De Leon uses in reporting that incident of shootout in Ever Gotesco Mall along Commonwealth Avenue. Although Mobile Journalism is not perfect because only a mobile phone camera is used to capture the incident, it must be resourceful to capture a good story. Be respectful to every person around you and when in a high-risk situation, we must always prioritize our safety. Moreover, we must always report in a truthful manner because the news we report will serve as the primary source of information of the public. It should be clear, concise, and reliable because after all, we are responsible for the things that we report to the people that we serve.

Mobile Journalism

Mobile Journalism is the new way of media to present news via storytelling where reporters use different portable electronic devices with internet or wireless connection to gather information, edit images, audio and video and distribute news using a smartphone. Some of the basic gadgets that we can use for Mobile Journalism are smartphones, gimbal (stabilizer) tripod, monopod or selfie stick, earphones, lens, lapel or boom mic, power bank, hand light, and pocket wifi to boost the signal especially in remote areas. Also, it gives journalists better access to information because of the less intimidating feeling when capturing video using a mobile phone camera. Hence, people are more willing to open up and there is less cumbersome to a reporter when they interview someone. When we shoot a video for television it should be capture horizontally and it must capture the emotions of the specific activity you want to focus on for the story to become more effective to the viewers.

In engaging with your audience, I learned that you can copy but you should alter or even adapt catchy titles of videos with the greatest number of views that can evoke your audience's emotion and look for influencers with whom we can share your story and have a collaboration with them. Also, we can maximize push notification by pasting the link of an old or related story to our comments section, in that way if they are interested in the topic, they can visit your old post and it can add to your views. The most important tricks that I learned and I think the most useful one to directly connect to someone is by using at least 10 hashtags to make our post searchable. Before, I was wondering why many of the influencer or vloggers on social uses a lot of hashtags in their post. Now that Mr. Cayabyab enlightens us about it and teaches us different techniques on how to engage with the audience, I will apply what I learned every time I post content on my social media accounts.

As an aspiring journalist, now is the best time to learn how to edit videos by starting with the simple chronology of videos, producing videos that are close to our heart like birthday celebrations, outings with family, and others. It is important to use effect, text, and music in learning how to edit video because someday in the work field it can be my edge among other applicants. In producing Digital Stories, the video should be clear and has audible audio because people can tolerate blurry videos like CCTV footage because it is understandable but they will immediately leave when the sound quality of your video is low and we must avoid shaky hands and abrupt camera movements. Mr. Cayabyab reminded us that our video can be produced into multiple outputs and formats so it is better to save HD video before posting and we can also repackage our one-hour live video into 30 seconder stories. However, there are dangers of going live because errors are inevitable, the rights of others may be violated which includes his or her privacy, or the minors maybe show, and there is a tendency that you showed unforeseen gory and shocking images and profanity.

Indeed, Mobile Journalism is a big help for every journalist but it is also additional work to them because they need to video themselves while reporting, but in a positive perspective, it can lessen the things that they need to bring and it is easy to set up when there is news coverage. Also, most people nowadays know how to use mobile phone cameras, as a result, they can easily use them. Nonetheless, journalists and other parts of the news industry have a big role in providing quality news to the public. They gather and publish unbiased information based on facts and are supported with proofs or pieces of evidence. Without them, people are not aware and updated on what is happening in their community and even in their entire country. Journalists contributed a lot to our society because their main purpose is to serve the citizens by giving them quality news and information.

Ethical Sharing

Fake news is patently false, fabricated, or misleading information presented as news that has become a major phenomenon in the context of Internet-based media. It often aims to damage the reputation of a person, entity or by making money through advertising revenue that has been published by hoax news sites and extreme partisan groups. The largest social media platform that promotes fake news today is Facebook because its users were constantly sharing articles with false information, and many of them were not aware that they were doing it since that article is coming from a Facebook friend or relative. The danger of the social media news feed article is that these hoax news articles look the same as stories from credible sources. Consumers only see the fake headline and they click the share button without knowing that the story comes from an untrustworthy source while the spam sites increase advertiser revenue and push their main agenda.

   As content creators, we must have a set of values and principles in creating news content because many can read it. Also, we must recognize our role in the news industry and our responsibility to provide factually accurate and verified information. Get your content fact-checked or even double-checked every claim and statistic you put in your work before publishing, and you may use some sites to detect fake news. Besides, we can collect our data from multiple official sources and include them as our reference. As a creator, we must be transparent with our audience, if possible, we may include our qualifications to prove to our readers that we published truthful information.

   As active social media users and consumers, we must read the entire article to make sure that the title accurately reflects the content of the story and if the site is reputable. Always double-check before sharing, but if you are still not sure if the message is true or accurate, you may use online resources to fact-check a news story or quote or review other trusted news sites to see where the story came from. We must also beware of confirmation biases because they might mislead us to the right information. Also, we can use CRAAP (Currency, Relevance, Accuracy, Authority, and Purpose) Test in spreading news articles. We can prevent fake news from going viral by informing other consumers that the news article is fake, provide pieces of evidence to them and report it immediately.

ECQ Journey

     The COVID 19 Pandemic has resulted in significant changes in our everyday lives, changes that have also occurred quickly and unexpectedly. Some people may find themselves in survival mode, gathering information and resources required to function at school, work, as an individual, and in their relationship to other people. Others may be adjusting to their current schedules and routines to avoid social isolation. But for me, at the start, even basic things require twice as much time, effort, and resources to accomplish a task, which is very exhausting. Eventually, after several months of having wild thoughts due to this pandemic, I've become compassionate and gentle with myself as I adopt new routines in my life.

     I am so grateful to be able to continue my studies, but my adjustment to the online class and adapting to the modern standard of studying from home has been challenging because I was surrounded by confusion and pressure. As classes went remote, I had a hard time adapting, not just because of the transition itself, but because of my subsequent lack of encouragement. After a year, I realized that it is also a good thing that I can make it to my 7:30 class in the morning without having to get out of bed and take a shower. Also, my professors have been extremely supportive and compassionate in the transition of this new normal class setup. Even the government announces that some parts of the country will be under another period of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), it is not new to me because I’ve already known how to cope with this situation.

     This quarantine has allowed me to spend most of my time with my family since when there are face-to-face classes I only spend few hours in our home just to rest and do my assignment then I will go to school again. Also, my brother and I spend our free time playing basketball on our mini court inside our home, as well as playing chessboard and UNO cards because we knew that this is the safest way for us to remain sane and to entertain ourselves. Social distancing does not mean social disconnecting, even we are miles away from each other, I make sure to stay connected with my family and friends.

     I usually make time to communicate with my loved ones virtually who live in the province, so that I can check their situation and bond with them whenever I feel lonely. On the other hand, whenever I miss my friends, we have been able to stay in touch with constant Facetime in Zoom, Google Meet, or in Messenger so we can share our life experiences during quarantine. Apart from that, we watch Netflix movies together virtually at night before we sleep or we play online games when they want to.

     A year has passed and as a result of my ongoing experience in this pandemic, I view life more optimistically. Knowing that my friends and family are just a call away to provides comfort, motivation, and inspiration to me. For me to stay focused, I practice self-care to strengthen my immune system and relieve mental stress. I get enough sleep, exercise, and eat healthy meals daily. I need to adhere to a schedule to retain some sense of normalcy and to aid my motivation. I do a weekly schedule to do homework, rewrite notes, and study past lesson so that I can take frequent, short breaks whenever I needed which help me to maintain focus on the challenging materials that I study.

     I find new hobbies which I think are very rewarding and give some calm to my soul which is gardening. I and my parents plant different vegetables in our small garden inside our home, and the fruit that we harvested becomes our simple meal sometimes. Furthermore, my family keeps an eye on the news every night to remain updated on the COVID-19 situation here in our country. I only get factual information from credible sources rather than views on social media, where people are venting and expressing their complaints which can then increase my distress. My parents thought me to stay informed but not alarmed so I can avoid anxiety and stress.

     There are times that I feel anxious and sad because of our current situation. I also feel tired studying alone, and like any other student, I demand an academic break to fresh my mind and soul. Nonetheless, we can begin to re-inhabit our future, new lives, and selves by considering what life was like before COVID-19 and comparing it to our experience during isolation. We can emerge our experience with a more adaptable outlook with a little thought, preparation, and execution. This will help us strengthen our sense of control over our lives, and direct our attention to life's opportunities and possibilities.

Spotify Podcast is an audio program presented in an episodic format that discuss a specific topic. Originally, Podcast was meant to refer to audio episodes often found on iTunes and sometimes on websites. The pilot episode of ‘The YTL Podcast (Yung Totoo Lang)’ hosted by Journalist Tarra Quismundo is a dynamic medium that can be a perfect way to deliver doses of accurate information and great advice about fake news and media literacy. It is an advantage for her to use bilingual language to target larger audience so people could more understand the topic she’s sharing to everyone. Also, Spotify could expand and reach listeners around the world wherever they might be, whatever they are doing, they can listen anytime they want too.

In addition, Spotify Podcasting is on-demand now a days because it is easy to use and it is an effective medium to engage to listeners. The main reason why podcasts are so popular is that they allow their audience to save time while simultaneously improving their productivity because people can listen while doing other things at home or at work, or during their commute. Second, Podcasts content is communicated directly to the listeners, which is a more intimate way of getting information than reading it from a book or any documents. Third, as it is delivered digitally it eliminate costs associated with other forms of communication like printing it to deliver to people and so it gives people the possibility to spend little for as much content as they like and now everyone can have access to it through the use of their phones. Lastly, listeners can decide what topic they want to hear to be entertained and gain some lesson in life, and when they want to hear it because they can save it to their devices.

As a millennial, Social Media becomes part of my everyday life and I noticed that many Journalism Institutes have now launched digital publishing on different social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to get the young generation follow their brand, to prove their skills in reporting and writing news content and to reach global audiences. After the introduction of online news, many news consumers are abandoning the traditional newspapers and prefer reading news from online sources. I believe that we should embrace digital publishing because they have the ability to make articles more interactive and they can provide quick, efficient and accurate information. Also, It is more economically efficient compared to all other methods of news distribution because now, there is no need of papers, ink and large printers to distribute information. All you have to do is to connect your mobile phones, laptops or personal computers to the internet which is easier unlike buying newspapers where you have to pay before accessing the information.

The fact that the news websites continuously updated with new information every now and then, readers can sit back and relax knowing that they can get the latest information of events and they can also look back previous news. As compare to newspaper digital publishing can hook more audiences since they are now using videos, pictures and text into articles which are impossible to embed with newspapers. In Addition, Digital New Media allows readers to select the type of news they are into and people do not waste their time on articles that do not interest them, they can choose what does interest them. Also, it allows people to share their general views about any of the content of news by posting their thoughts and opinion, they have now the ability to discuss the news with peers, and read different viewpoints on comment sections. Lastly, with newspapers, people can only read the articles contained within the newspaper but on digital publishing there is no limit to how many articles one can read.

Raffy Tulfo a well-known broadcaster of TV5 gain now the title, “Hari ng Public Service” and also gain millions of subscribers on YouTube with his YouTube channel "Raffy Tulfo in Action." As I watched most of his videos on his channel I can say that most of this gain so much views because of the stories they featured which is the real scenario of every Filipinos life, which I noticed that they more focused on the story related to broken relationships of a couple, on crimes and on how they help other people. Some of the stories they featured brings entertainment to the audience and others are heart felt scenarios and conversations of every people who needs assistance to fix their problems. When I watched this TV show it brings all of the emotions I laugh, I cried, and I felt anger because of their stories. It is the reason why the audience want it and make them convince to watch another entertaining story again and again.

The format of the Raffy Tulfo in Action on TV5 is effective for me because I noticed that the anchor captures the audience’s attention immediately by the way he talks, the audience can feel a desired emotion they want. It is evident that Raffy Tulfo has been known to take quick action and provide immediate solutions to issues presented to him, and with this it helped resolve concerns regarding social injustices committed to ordinary citizens. He also takes no biases because he makes sure to listen first on both parties involve on the issue. It balances social empathy along with its fun and light segments. The title of every videos are we so called "pang masa" because everyone can hook by it. They tell a compelling story that other people can relate to the story of others and some learned something from it by knowing their rights stated by different government officials, offices and agency interviewed by Tulfo.

In today's society, consumers want immediate access to the things they enjoy and which are beneficial to them while demanding for high-quality, timely, relevant and accurate content. One of the advantages of digital publishing is the number of people they can reach because they can have unlimited audience in just posting on the internet or sharing it on social media platforms. Also, they can reach people from different region of the country and even globally. With digital publications, you can dicover things and become more creative buy checking its content and on how properly utilize it. Among of all the trends in Digital Publishing, I believe that 'The Rise of Mobile Devices and Audio' will become even more popular now and in the future.

Due to pandemic, the government ban face to face interaction, online work and classes was implemented. As a result, many of the Filipinos requires to have an access to internet and mobile gadgets and the rate of people having mobile devices continue to grow and improve. Consequently, Filipino's choose to read news online than having it on print because it is more accessible by just browsing on your phone and searching on specific content you can have the news you want. Also, Audio interfaces continue to develop and expand because people are now actively using voice technologies and voice assistants such as Alexa, Google Home, and Siri on their devices to search and consume content. The Google Assistant is now creating playlists of audio segments from Google News, it is useful to people doing a lot of things or when they are outside of their home because when they ask it to play the news it will read it automatically and it will allows you to continue what you are doing with no hustle.
