idk i feel like you could point out the differences between the way f/f ships are treated even when they get the same(or more) amount of screentime and someone’d always be ready to excuse it somehow. idc why someone always seems to find f/f ships boring. i just want more content of my girls. and there’s like 100 for main characters with huge chemistry in fandoms with tens of thousands of fics. idk i think sometimes you need to examine why everyone decided every female character was boring but everyone else, even background characters with no purpose or personalities, are getting essays. do whatever you want but sometimes you gotta ask if its fueled by sexism without getting defensive

What, and I cannot stress this enough, the FUCK is wrong with her???!!!
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a frontrunner to be named as Donald Trump's running mate, admitted to killing her family dog for misbehavior.
The Republican governor wrote in her forthcoming memoir, No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward, that the female dog Cricket had an "aggressive personality" and proved herself "untrainable," according to excerpts from the book published by The Guardian.
“I hated that dog,” Noem wrote, adding that the 14-month-old wirehair pointer was “dangerous to anyone she came in contact with” and “less than worthless … as a hunting dog”.
The governor said she included the story in her political memoir to demonstrate her willingness to take on “difficult, messy and ugly” tasks, and she described an attempt to teach Cricket to hunt with other dogs, but instead the pup ruined the trip by going “out of her mind with excitement, chasing all those birds and having the time of her life."

I recently had surgery, and at the time I came home, I had both my cat and one of my grandma's cats staying with me.
- Within hours of surgery, I wake up from a nap to my cat gently sniffing at my incisions with great alarm.
- I was not allowed to shower the first day after surgery, and the cats, seeing that The Large Cat is not observing its cleaning ritual, decided I must be gravely disabled and compensated by licking all the exposed skin on my arms, face, and legs.
- I currently have to sleep with a pillow over my abdomen because my cat insists on climbing on top of me and covering my incisions with her body while I sleep (which is very sweet but not exactly comfortable without the pillow). She also lays across me facing my bedroom door, presumably on guard for attackers who may try to harm me while I'm sleeping and injured.
That's love. 🐈‍⬛🐈❤️

"lol jews find so many loopholes in their own religion they must hate being jewish" damn just say you're uncreative and have never examined your own religious texts further than the exact words written down on the paper. just say you take everything at face value and you never enjoy reading between the lines to gain a new understanding of something. it's ok, we all see it already

children existing in public spaces is genuinely like. necessary for the continuation of society. it doesnt have to be your kids you dont have to volunteer at a daycare or whatever but you need to be able to tolerate the presence of someone who is learning how to exist as a human and interact with people

It is much easier to hate nazis and conspiracy theorists than it is to love Jews.
It is much easier to puff out your chest against a hypothetical, obvious villain than it is to help the real people they exploit.
I gently challenge allies to ask themselves today: "Where am I directing my energy? Am I putting in the work to show the world how much I hate nazis, or am I putting in the work to uplift Jews and Jewish voices?"

*Gyeongseong Creature spoilers*
Been really enjoying this series despite the sub-par CGI (but I’ve watched enough Korean content to know that their CGI is not great so I’ve accepted it).
Perhaps this was common knowledge already (I don’t read Korean entertainment news, so I don’t know), but the allegory of the “rape of Korea” through the symbolism of the creature has been interesting to think about. In the drama, the creature is created when a Japanese scientist forces Joseon women to consume/drink the Najin—a tiny, white organism (not unlike sperm/semen)—causing them to mutate into a terrifying, vicious creature that indiscriminately kills everyone and sucks out their brains.
The creature seems to symbolize the Korean idea of “Han”/한. “Han”/한 is a concept in Korean culture, when a group or an individual has internalized trauma, sorrow, resentment, and anger from unresolved injustice, brewing for generations without resolution or a chance for one to be at peace. It’s akin to the idea of vengeance—or the deep-seated angst that compels someone towards revenge/vengeance. The concept of “Han”/한 is said to have come about during the Japanese occupation period, so it seems that the creature is a symbol of how this deeply internalized resentment and anger of feeling wronged and taken advantage of can completely mutate a person towards vengeful, bloody hatred.
I’ve read that mentioning past Japanese atrocities can get Korean actors/actresses black-listed by the Japanese government and market, and I also heard that the two leads in this drama were fully prepared for that. I had wondered why they would be willing to risk so much for a fantasy drama, but now I’m starting to realize that it might be because they believed this was an important story to tell. (I haven’t watched any interviews or anything by the drama leads so I’m speculating…). Though the creature in the drama is a fantasy, the horrible things that people did to one another during the occupation period depicted in the show are largely true. And now with the added allegory/symbolism of the creature as the “Han”/한 of the Korean people, I’m very much convinced that this drama offers much more than meets the eye.
Regardless of the political messaging, it’s a really well-made show with an ensemble cast. I’m also so impressed by the all-Korean cast learning to act in Japanese so fluently. The show is very interesting, well-acted, and Park Seo-Joon as the male lead inserts just the right amount of levity to make it entertaining but without drawing attention away from the deeper message of the film.
Can’t wait for Jan 5th when the rest of the series comes out!

I adored Gyeongseong Creature but OP is right, the OST is fucking AWFUL.
Gyeongseong Creature OST
Last year I wrote about OSTs that perfectly represent the kdrama. Well this post is the opposite - OST's which are totally inappropriate for the kdrama, specifically Forever from Gyeongseong Creature.
Tumblr media
Now don't get me wrong Gyeongseong Creature is probably the series I am enjoying the most out of those I began or completed watching in 2023. Han So Hee and Park Seo Joon have great chemistry but this isn't a romantic comedy despite what this scene from episode 8 might suggest.
It's a dark and pretty chilling monster tale full of sadistic characters, steeped in human experimentation, cruelty, torture, and death which deserved an equally dark theme song. What we get instead is Forever sung by Suho from the group Exo.
Tumblr media
No shade to the artist but this is a souffle of a song which sounded out of place played over the series credits and seems even more incongruous in the MV. "Ride on a paper plane, Sandcastles on the seaside, Don't scare me at all" what does that even mean?
youtube
Somebody on the production team really didn't understand the assignment. Needless to say this one won't be making it to my OST playlist.
