All he could do in that moment is retort with a roll of his eyes. She purposely avoided his point, but regardless none of it mattered anymore. They were long done. He hadn't been with anyone else, but she didn't need to know that. Whatever rumors there were about him already hooking up with others was just that. "Then why ask?" He quipped back, but didn't actually expect an answer. "It may sound stupid but you can't just jump into a relationship because you want one. Especially with our history."

"Oh, well by all means, if Mark said it!" she retorted, annoyance and sarcasm clear in her tone. Sure, the two had a lack of trust and stability and the blonde had acted as though him leaving her hadn't upset her, but she couldn't help if she still had feelings for him. "I don't care." she quickly covered, though it wasn't entirely true. Brooke ran a hand through her hair before letting out a slow sigh. "I don't know." she answered honestly. "Doesn't mean I didn't still want one with you..."

her eyes narrow as she peered over at him. less by way of an angry stare and more in a way of trying to figure out what brought on the sudden change. leaning back in her seat, her arms folded over her chest. "now, you want to play true to the bullshit vows we spoke?" it was a question, but more spoken like a statement since he had already made that point fairly obvious. "what changed, exactly?" she paused, a quick dart of her pink tongue gliding over her lower lip. "i've been bound to you for a while now, so something changed on your end and if you want me to go with it — you have to tell me what it is? otherwise, headed back to jimmy's bed tonight... or was it jake." the names were random, but simply a point to be made.

darren remains seated when she stands, slouched, arms crossed over his chest giving off the image that he didn't want to be there, or have this conversation. though it's something that's been rattling in the confines of his skull more recently. how they both have a sore habit of spending their nights underneath strangers instead of in their own bed. jealousy was a poison, and as a man who was possessive to the things he covets, this little schtick they were putting on was starting to get old. he was n't supposed to fall for her, but with time he's grown sour to the deal that once settled their family feud. "things change, bailey. you're mine, bound legally." he lifts his left hand, his ring hand, into the air - wiggles his fingers to add flare "remember? shame on fucking me for thinking we should finally start acting like it."

regardless of the title he held in her life, salem would always be the most important person to her. coming from the world piper was brought up in, having someone like that was quite possibly the only thing keeping her from spiraling into a crazy depression. she was strong, but she had her moments. "well even if you don't actually get it, i appreciate you acting like you do." she fell in step behind him, grabbing at his hand to slow him down just enough so that she could hoist herself onto his back. "one day you're gonna let me pay and you're gonna like it," she mused.

salem was well aware of piper's job . it did not bother him , not in the least . but he could see how others might . part of him wanted to go about finding a way to change everyone's mind when it came to piper but at the same time salem did not want to cross any line . ❛ you don't have to explain anything to me , piper . i get it . ❜ he attempted his best to bring some sort of reassurance to the femme . ❛ oh , now i know you've lost your mind . i am buying , good try though piper. ❜

An exaggerated scoff left her lips, eyebrow arching as he unlocked the car door but she didn't reach to open it just yet. "It wasn't me that called, it was a friend that called you for me or whatever." A wave of her hand, before her arms folded over her chest. The alcohol in her system just enough to make her tolerable.... or intolerable depending on who and the situation. "Well, you smell like a hooker, so I guess she's a hooker. I don't want to get into a car that smells like ass." Twisting away from the open windowed car, her heels clicked against the sidewalk as she started to wander away.

"I came because you called," He interrupted her, reaching over to unlock the car door and fulfill the last duty of whatever bronze knight Sophie has casted him all those years ago. His honor was certainly weathered, and any affection surely came with the taste of rust but a penny was the cost of a thought, wasn't it? "And, yea, her house is around the corner, so it was better than watching you drive some poor wanna be savior off the road from outside her window. Now, will you get in because I'm here and that's what matters right now."

for a moment, rusty forgot entirely how the interaction with the blonde even started. the girl he'd been dating storming away from him — right. as if her walking away and taking her dramatics with her wasn't an upside enough, the girl in front of him sparking his interest was even more of a prize. the smirk remained on his face, "oh, i'm sure it will." it didn't really matter what she said at that point, he'd agree to keep her engaged. he let out a laugh, "i couldn't handle you, huh?" a brow arched, as a hand gestured to himself before letting out another chuckle. "what makes you think i can't handle you, babe?"

for a moment, piper lets herself fall quiet. almost pensive as she lets his words hang around in her head, trying to decipher if he's being genuine or not. trusting isn't something that comes naturally for her, but she returns the smile a moment later. "yeah, i don't really wish that on anyone either." clearing her throat, she toys at a string hanging off her shirt, peering down on it. "you really do seem sincere. thank you."

It was nice to be worried about. He never really let anyone get close enough to care enough to truly worry and part of him wondered where she fell on that spectrum. Was she going out of her way simply because he had protected her or did she worry because she couldn't help herself. "Why do you worry about me?"

Piper responded curtly, but held back from listing off all the woes of her upbringing that would prove her point. "Don't you worry about me getting hurt. You can't get through life without being destroyed a few times." She gave a shrug, "Why do you seem to care so much anyway?"

CT's brows rose slightly at her words, his head shaking as she spoke. "That's up fer debate." he responded as his baby blue hues rolled in clear irritation. It wasn't often he cared about other people, and even less often that he showed it. And while keeping tabs on Piper had been his way of doing so, that didn't always translate well. "I know blokes like that and if ya keep bookin wit those types yer gonna get hurt."
