I Just Drive.

The car door opens–“Go go go!”–slams shut, a burst of heat and motion as Harry rams the accelerator to the floor and the car jolts forwards; a shoulder slamming against his as he takes a tight U-turn on the Strand at full speed. He shouldn’t look–“Eyes on the road, Potter!”–but he can’t help it. He slides a glance as his partner-in-crime (“it’s partner, full stop, Potter”) waves off the Glamour, revealing a sharp profile and a shock of tousled white-blond hair.

“Got them?” Harry asks, breathless. The streets of London are a blur around them. The anti-intrusion sirens of Gringotts blare in the distance. The evening air rushes through the car’s open windows, sweet and exhilarating.

Movement in the passenger seat as Draco twists around to throw a heavy rucksack into the backseat. “That’s another five vaults rid of their Dark artifacts.”

They’ll speed out of the city, safe under the car’s Concealment Charms. They’ll lay low until the dust of the heist settles, hidden away in one bolthole or another. Perhaps the cottage by the sea, this time. They’ll destroy the artifacts one by one, as the Aurors should have done long ago. And in the meantime–“Now what?” Harry asks, mad, relieved laughter threatening to spill out of him.

“Now, darling.” Draco grins against the shell of his ear. “Keep driving.”

I’ve decided to just believe my vets whenever they coo over my cats and tell me oh YES he’s the handsomest black cat they’ve ever met or awwwww look at her beautiful orange tabby facial stripes, have you ever seen such a pretty cat? My cats are, in fact, the cutest cats they’ve ever seen. There’s probably so much unhappy stuff that comes with veterinary work? I think if I worked for a vet, I’d be really happy to meet every animal who wasn’t seriously ill. Hello you! You’re the prettiest, you little black void! You’re also the prettiest, miss pregnant tabby alley cat! I’ve never met a more handsome three-legged Siamese; look at how well you’re balancing!
