This is your chance. The chance to earn that look in your daughter’s eyes. To become the hero that she already thinks you are.

If you hate Snape for only changing sides because of Lily, then you better start hating Dumbledore, Narcissa, Regulus, and Draco as well because they all also ONLY changed sides because their loved ones was endangered and/or killed. The most important thing (and which Harry Potter always teaches) is that love can redeem even the most unlikely of people and turn them away from evil.
No actually we hate Snape because he was a disgusting person who abused children because he couldn’t get a date twenty years before.

Debunking the Antoni Porowski Theory
When I first binged Queer Eye, it didn’t even cross my mind that Antoni was a fake chef, and I don’t think it ever will because even just thinking about it is ridiculous. It’s a dumb theory, you guys.
Everything he did just made sense to me. He doesn’t show off what he can do — he caters to their needs, whether that’s a complicated meal or a four-ingredient guacamole. And that’s how it should be done. This isn’t a cooking show and I assumed anyone with common sense would get that.
These heroes are people who barely have the time or willingness to take care of themselves. Why on earth would Antoni teach them something complicated? Not to mention, a lot of them haven’t cooked a single thing in their lives. His haters and critics are expecting way too much from him. Imagine taking singing lessons for the first time and your first lesson is how to hit notes like Whitney Houston. I’d be out the door in an instant. He’s teaching them the basics, as he should be doing.
There are a lot of questions raised that I believe I can answer myself.
1) “There were one or two episodes where he didn’t cook.”
Antoni said himself that there are times when he’d teach the hero how to cook something and it would get cut out of the episode (Season 1, Episode 7). Personally, I think the editors are to blame here. All of them are experts in their own department and you can’t just cut one out. They should make sure that each member of the Queer Eye gets the screen time they deserve. In the episode with Bobby Camp, he taught him way more than what was shown on the show, they just cut it out due to time constraint. You can see Antoni posting about it here. https://www.instagram.com/p/BgrBKWRFxgQ/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1wtms4z1o35s
2) “He taught Remy how to make mac and cheese.“
And the issue is? How in the world is that wrong? How does that make him a fake chef? He doesn’t just come up with random recipes to teach these heroes - he uses cooking as a love language. He connects with them. And this is why he had a talk with Remy’s mother first, and that’s when they ended up talking about mac and cheese being a family tradition. Please don’t even think of shitting on him because of the cottage cheese, it was the family recipe. Also, that wasn’t the only thing he taught him how to make. Lastly, mac and cheese is not that basic, especially not for someone who doesn’t usually cook.
This reasoning also applies to all the annoying comments about the guacamole, the dips, the grilled cheese - HE. CATERS. TO. THEIR. NEEDS. He teaches them how to make food that they like, food that will help them with their busy schedule, food that’s connected to the hero’s personality or family background/tradition. If you ask me, I’d take simple meals that were taught with heart rather than random complicated recipes that the hero might not even be able to recreate.
3) “HE TAUGHT THEM HOW TO MAKE HOTDOG SANDWICHES WITH CHIPS!”
Another example of nitpicking and overreacting - something his haters are very good at, I’ve noticed. Do you guys even bother thinking about what the food is for? Or are you just that bored that you like hating on people for the most ridiculous things?
They were going to sell those hotdog sandwiches at a fundraising event. It’s a family event. With kids. You want them to sell braised lamb or something?
Also, the issue about the chips - holy moley let them live and have fun and experiment with their food! I have nothing against grilled hot dog sandwiches with chips! We eat normal sandwiches with chips why can’t we do that with hotdogs?
4) “They made him a guest judge in Nailed It instead of a contestant because he can’t bake.”
This one’s a winner for me. By far, the dumbest argument I’ve read. Really? Ya’ll went there?
Because you know, I assumed they picked him as a guest judge because it would be unfair if he competed with them since he has a lot of experience and they don’t. The show is about amateur bakers competing. He’s not an amateur, as much as you guys are obsessed with the idea that he is.
5) “He only passed the audition because he’s good looking.”
Let me remind you of a few things. Yes, someone did help him get an audition and that’s Ted Allen from the original Queer Eye show.
Ted Allen is a what? A food and wine connoisseur. Antoni worked under him. He’s trained. He has worked as a personal chef for several famous personalities. It’s in his resume. He has been posting pictures of his food creations YEARS before he even got into Queer Eye.
Now how does that fit with the whole theory of him not knowing how to cook?
Did he foresee that he was going to have a TV show opportunity in about four years so he started pretending to cook food and post them on Instagram? Get over yourselves.
6) “He’s always just in the background, watching behind someone’s back.”
What does that have to do with him knowing how to cook, though? Out of the entire group, he’s the shy, laid-back one (except for his sudden bursts about hating glitter and freaking out about random children’s teeth he finds in the house).
You want the food and wine expert to be the loud extrovert who gets 50% of the screentime? Why? What does that have to do with what he can do as a chef?
7) “Tan Taught Jason How to Cook Indian Food.”
In episode 4 of Season 2, Antoni, Tan, and Jason (the nominated hero) all went to an Indian restaurant to learn how to make Indian food. I get how this can be a bit confusing. How come Tan was the one who taught Jason how to make the Indian dish and not Antoni?
First of all, Tan had more experience with Indian food since the dish was something he would make often when he was younger. The show is about culture, making an impact, and having new experiences together. It’s not about the technicalities. Antoni did not shy away from that.
He accompanied Jason and Tan to the Indian restaurant and had a great cultural experience with them. He connected with Jason through his expertise - even if he wasn’t the one making it at that time.
At the end of the episode, he did have his moment with Jason where he taught him how to make another dish (which a lot of ya’ll still hated on because it was too simple).
The bottomline of this passionate rant is, your argument is dumb and most likely based on bitterness or stemmed from boredom. As I (and many other fans), have stated over and over again, it’s not a cooking show. Do you really think the producers and casting directors would hire someone who can’t cook just because he’s gay and hot? The rest of the Fab 5 have said themselves that Antoni cooks really good food, so you’re basically saying that they’re lying too?
Jonathan Van Ness said in their Queer Eye in Conversation interview that he still clearly remembers meeting Antoni during the audition process. He said out of all of the food and wine guys that he met, Antoni was the only one that really drew him in when it came to passion for food. The way he talks about it, the things he knows about it, everything was mindblowing to Jonathan. So do you guys think that was a lie as well? Are there no other good looking queer chefs that they can find that they would go that low and make everyone act and lie about what Antoni can do?
The reach is too high. Get down from there and have a margarita. Life is too short to spread unnecessary hate!
