Usually when a manga/anime references western lit you should just assume it’s window dressing and not read into it- which is totally fair, western writers do that all the time with everything. However, Ryoko Kui is very detail oriented and ‘Laios’ sounded like Greek to me, so I thought maybe this would be the exception.
It turns out that that Laios/Laius is, in fact a Greek mythological figure. However, I . don’t think it’s supposed to mean anything.
Probably. It’s nothing. It’s fine. It’s nothing and that’s fine.
…
But I would be really curious to know what list Kui was looking at to end up naming her Main Character after the father of fucking Oedipus
