Bo says please & thank you. <3

Hey SSS fans. I try not to make these kinds of posts too often but this is a personal matter. Our Whitestorm VA has a cutie kitty called Bo who unfortunately has knee troubles. Every now and again his kneecap pops out of place and cause Bo to move around with a limp. It can take a few days for his knee to go back into position but unfortunately it’s a cycle that can happen too often. He’s a sweet, cuddly, energetic little boy who deserves to bounce around all he pleases. There is a surgery available to him that should hopefully fix his knee for good however this is a pricey solution and our Whitestorm VA is only a college student so can only afford so much. This is why I’ve attached to this post a link that should take you to a donation page. Here you can donate ANY amount you wish. Even if it’s something like 50 cents, any donation is appreciated and helps out greatly. If you can’t offer anything, reblogging this post will still be a huge help. <3 Thanks for your time, guys.~

As some of you may or may not know, Vicky Holmes, one of the original three authors under the Erin Hunter name posted an announcement yesterday that she will be leaving the Warriors team.

Here at SSS, we’d like to wish Vicky the best of luck with her future and any upcoming releases as she moves on to write new pieces that hopefully will keep her love for writing fresh and full of life. Vicky helped shape what the book series is today and without her, we may have been looking at something completely different and may not have been as hugely successful as Warriors has become. Her work has inspired many and made a global community full of people of all ages and backgrounds. Without her work, the SSS team may never have happened. A lot of the team has become like a little family of good friends and relationships so even though we may have a mixed bag of opinions on her work throughout the years, we’re grateful that what she’s made has brought us together otherwise we may have never met. Again, we hope Vicky enjoys her new writing adventure and that she’ll never forget the community she’s helped to bring together over a large track of years. Take care, Vicky & thank you!

A book recommendation from the SSS team: Wings Of Fire

As you may or may not know, recently a few of the SSS members met up for a holiday. During this time we had many trips to Barnes & Nobles and one lot of books we all bought was the first and second books for the series Wings Of Fire. We all read both books and we love it so we highly recommend it. Here’s a review so you know whether it’s for you or not.

Firstly, if you love Warriors then we’re almost 100% sure you’ll enjoy Wings Of Fire. It’s pretty much Warrior Cats but with dragons instead. The writing we also found was a lot better in WoF too, personally. The writer for the series, Tui T. Sutherland has worked with the Erins before on the Seekers series and on the Code Of The Clans series so it’s another good reason we think you’ll like it.

The book focuses on five dragonets (young dragons) who are part of a prophecy that is meant to bring an end to the war that is taking place all over the kingdom. Each of these dragonets have nicely fleshed out characters and all are different from one-another so you are bound to find one you can relate to in someway and also makes for a diverse cast. The first five books are written in a point of view of each dragonet so you get see each one grow and develop more character from a more personal viewpoint rather than a singular character throughout the series. There are currently seven books available with an eighth on it’s way due for early 2016. Each book is about $6.99 but you can buy a boxset of the first five in hardback for around $20 from August 25th. The targeted audience is the same as Warriors but can be enjoyed by any ages.

Despite the ‘Scholastic’ logo being plastered on the cover, the book contains violence and gore more intense than what we read in the Warriors series. We’re talking eyeballs disintegrating, throwing eggs off cliffs, torture, ripping apart dragons right to their organs…then pulling them out; you name it, it’s all there and described in detail too. Does this ruin the books? Nope. Not at all. There are many little twists and surprises that keep you hooked til the end and gore is only suitable, we’re talking dragons after all. The only thing that makes us roll our eyes is sometimes the dialogue and character actions can be cheesy but it’s nothing overwhelming, just every so often, 

So we at the SSS team recommend you these books as a last read before you return to school. 

And before you ask, our favourite dragon is Glory. What a sassy biatch. <3

Voice Audition Tips

We still get a lot of questions about Voice Acting for SSS and here’s a reminder that we only will take in people when we host casting calls. There is no exceptions. Sending us demos won’t change that either. BUT THAT’S NOT WHAT I AM HERE TO DISCUSS. I am also here to give a few tips to help increase your chances when the time does come.

We very often get a massive response when we host casting calls for voice actors, we easily receive 100+ auditions and to be honest, well over half of them are from people who’ve never done a single bit of voice over before in their lives (and it REALLY shows). A lot of the people that come asking us so often if they can voice in the series are also the same, no experience whatsoever. Guys, if you want to voice for us and stand out from a crowd of 100+ then you’re gonna need to gather a lot of experience before trying out for not just our project, but any other projects you wish to voice in. While it’s true some people can get straight to the mic and sound flawless without ever doing it before, it’s RARE for that to happen. You need practice. We’re not saying everyone on this team are professionals but at least most had voiced stuff previously so knew what they were doing when approaching their lines. So here’s some tips you can think about before trying out in the future; these tips can apply to trying out for ANY animation.

🌟 Don’t beg for roles - You’ll be surprised how many do this and then finally try out. This will put the director off even considering you so don’t even think of trying it. If you act immaturely, people won’t want to work with you.

🌟 Gain experience, try out for lots of other projects - There are LOADS, hundreds of animations on Youtube that need voices, we’re not the only animation here, in fact, there are lots of other neat warrior cats series that are going to want voices. Waiting on us is going to get you nowhere, you need to gather experience and learn more about your voice, range and how to work on projects like these. Go and audition for lots and lots of projects and keep going, don’t stop until you can’t fit any more roles into your schedule. This is probably the most effective way to improve your chances. Also, getting into more projects helps build your credibility as a voice actor. 

🌟 Keep it simple, edit out the mess ups - If we’re getting over 100 auditions, we’re not going to want to sit through single-take auditions where out of a (e.g) 3 minute long audition, 2 minutes are you messing up, stumbling over words, pausing to read and restarting. Edit out your mistakes, keep in the correct takes! We all love bloopers but when we just want to hear you read lines properly then it can get frustrating. If you think you have some really funny outtakes, stick them at the END of your audition if you really want to put them in there. Your good takes should go first. Same goes for intros really, don’t sit there rambling on for 2 minutes, keep your intros short and sweet. I recommend intros being no longer than 20-30 seconds. (But really you shouldn’t need any longer than 10-15 seconds).

🌟 Be confident - Even if you feel you’re not that great at acting yet, don’t let anyone else know that! A common thing I noticed lately is that newer folks may often say “Oh, I’m not too great at this”, “my voice sounds dumb” or “I’m not sure how to do this so sorry if I fail” on their auditions. This is a huge no-no. Just introduce yourself, explain the characters you’re going for (and maybe the voice you’ll use for them if need be) and then get straight into the audition. Don’t sit there telling them how much experience you don’t have. Just go for it!

🌟 Always read descriptions thoroughly - Make sure you read all the rules, every detail for the characters you’re going for and check anywhere else on the page for updates. Sometimes, directors may ask you for specific things when you audition and if you audition without looking at the things they write down, then you’ve messed up already. Always read into it as much as you can. 

🌟 Do multiple takes - Try to do around 2-3 takes of each line you read to make sure we get a good idea of your voice and emotions. If you’re going for a lot of characters for one audition then do 2 takes for each line max. 

That’s the basics for now. I HIGHLY recommend looking up online voice actor tutorials on Youtube. They give a really great look into what you need and the best way to achieve your full potential.

Sorry for the inactivity here, we’ve all been busy or distracted by life things. I’m here to update you all on progress (at least as much as I can publicly say so hold onto your horses). Wanton recently re-uploaded the second half of episode 3 with edited audio so that it didn’t get struck down by copyright. We still hope to remaster the other parts at some point too! As for Episode 4; we’re still working on it but as usual progress is slow due to college projects and life happenings. A lot of our staff are busy students and this cannot be helped. They must put their education before SSS. Wanton has stated that he would like to aim to try and get the episode done over the summer however this is a TARGET and not a definite release date or promise. It’s mostly to try and set an aim to get a lot further with the progress of the episode. As of now, production is almost at a stand still due to approaching finals. Any messages asking or demanding to know where the episode is will as always, be ignored. I will try to update you as time goes on. As for now, we thank you for your patience and hope you continue to watch us. - Blue (Now excuse me while I go back to play persona 5. huehuehue)

We’ve been found out, lads!

it’s 2018. the warrior cats movie has just come out. the theaters are packed with furries and crying warriors fans, some in middle school, some in college, all crying because this day has finally come.

the longtail and firepaw fight comes on. suddenly there’s a loud “HUAH” noise. it’s the naruto theme song. longtail’s tail begins to move back and forth and smacks firepaw dozens of times over.

suddenly everyone knows what this movie is REALLY based off of. ssswarriorcats.

it’s not over. it’s never been over.
